“Who says people should be able to get along?“ That's the quote of Yan Mo, the smartest guy in school, unsociable, confident, can solve everything logically, but head over heals with Qiao Yi.
Contrary with Yan Mo, Qiao Yi is the girl with lowest rank in school but kind hearted and deal everything with smile.
Destiny seems playing a joke with them by making the smart and the fool at school falling in love.

This is my first time watching Zhang Yu Jian (as Yan Mo), he is very adorable in this drama. I heard Janice Wu herself appointed him to play with her.
Janice Wu, as usual, acts great as Qiao Yi and brings credit to this drama.
I am a fan of Janice Wu ever since I watched her in My Sunshine, she always looks great in every character she plays.

This drama is very fun to watch every episode, the story is mature, very refreshing, funny and you will be very satisfied to see the ending.

Un buon drama, con una trama realistica e senza risvolti inverosimili

La credibilità è il punto di forza di questa serie. Non ci sono drammi spettacolari, eventi eclatanti, la pretesa di stupire con colpi di scena importanti e, spesso, anche altrettanto assurdi. Non ci sono triangoli banali o altri quadrilateri che calano come una poco perspicace benda sugli occhi dei protagonisti per tre quarti della serie.
Ci sono le relazioni umane, nei loro limiti e difetti, ma anche nella loro bellezza intrinseca. Ci sono sentimenti di vita quotidiana, scogli personali, speranze future, sogni e rimpianti e desideri. E non solo rispetto ai protagonisti. In questa serie, tutti i personaggi sono, a turno, un po' protagonisti. C'è spazio per la famiglia, più quella di lei che di lui, entrambe con un passato/presente difficile: il rapporto con i rispettivi genitori - e nel caso di lei anche col patrigno - costituisce una sequenza di passaggi e momenti fondamentali per la caratterizzazione dei protagonisti e della serie stessa. C'è il rapporto di lei con il fratello gemello, che - unitamente alla sua migliore amica - va a costituire un secondo pairing interessante e diverso dal principale, arricchendo la trama invece di sembrare il doppione della love story principale. Curiosa la caratterizzazione dei protagonisti, così diversi da loro ma pur complementari, complice la stitichezza verbale di lui come in pochi altri ML ho visto e la capacità di lei di gestire il particolare carattere di lui, comprendendolo e animando il rapporto con un tocco deciso di brio. Forse l'aspetto che ho apprezzato di meno è stato il portare avanti la storia su tre diversi assi temporali, che si intersecano di frequente e che personalmente mi confondono un po'. Singolare la scelta di mostrare la situazione finale subito nei primi attimi: inizialmente ne sono stata infastidita, mi sembrava l'effetto spoiler sgradito, al pari di leggere l'ultima pagina di un giallo prima ancora di aver iniziato la lettura. Devo però dire che la storia che accompagna via via a quel punto finale mostrato all'inizio si arricchisce di senso, tant'è che quando sono tornata poi indietro a rivedere quelle scene iniziali avevano acquisito un peso e di un significato che all'inizio non c'era modo di percepire. Scelta discutibili, forse non la mia preferita, insomma, ma che ha comunque funzionato.

How is the one you admired when you were in high school doing now?

Let me start off by saying I loved this drama , it's nothing you haven't seen before your typical school to life drama but what makes this so interesting is that its the authors real life story. I loved this drama so much , that even though I have just watched I want to watch it again. None of the characters had a bad point and there wasn't your typical love triangle ( There might be for a little time but its not the main focus point of the story) Each character had redeemed himself or herself and none of the characters were frustrating at period of times( Except the actual father that guy is shit). I was more focused on the secondary couple, Qiaoyi's brother and her friend, Guanchao and Wuyi. They were so cute and they focused on all of the couples a lot not just the main and as a second lead or second couple enthusiast I really loved their story. The acting was very good and none of the character's were stiff in their acting, except maybe the main lead but it's understandable because the main lead's character Yan mo started off very one dimensional I feel like he would not have changed if Qiao yi didn't make such a huge impact on his life. This story can be compared to A love so beautiful but the secondary couple is so different. The difference between aslb and Le Coup de Foudre is the female lead didn't really show off that she liked the main lead it was both like both of them were crushing on each other but were in a point where they didn't know it was true feelings and the female lead kind of tried to avoid male lead at start. I loved the secondary couple so much though , The secondary female lead Hao Wuyi I have to compliment her acting this was her first time as a main lead role ( though she was secondary female lead role) but her acting was really good and the secondary couple had more chemistry and romance than the main leads though the Main lead's had very good chemistry. I feel like the second leads stole the show . I loved their story and how they had developed. It's hard to believe that they aren't dating in real life ( Second leads, Eden Zhao and Ma li maybe you are? I hope so lol). Along with the romance this drama has great character development and meaning of family and youth. I really loved this drama I hope you watch this drama! Do yourself a favor and don't miss out on this drama. (Btw, I don't really write reviews but this drama was that). The kiss scenes are also are one of the best kiss scenes in Chinese dramas. Even the surprise kisses are responded to well. The second leads kisses were amazing too. It's not the male lead kissing a stick it's male lead actually kissing female lead. So yes , This drama is amazing and makes you laugh out loud Watch it!!!( Btw , The main lead who are Zhao Zhiwei and Zhang Yujian are so hot I crush on them even now).

THE MUSIC: I still listen to the OST until now I watched this drama about 4 months ago. I was like almost done with dramas during this period and only cared about second leads and could not When I mean could not stand Love triangles during this time this drama ignited my passion again for dramas and second lead couples fully along with main this drama saved me, just like the music. From the song, Ma li sang Dearest friend (最相爱的朋友) which on YouTube includes a MV on Zhao Guanchao and Hao Wuyi! My favorite couple and song from dramaland OST'S Goblins Stay with me Beats it though, but its understandable. When I say there hasn't been a day without listening to the song, and even though I barely cry almost cry its not an understatement. Nevertheless, I loved all of the songs and they are always on my playlist the music definitely suits the drama, which is unique just as unique as the drama and relentlessly never fails to disappoint. When I say I got a MDL account just to write a review on Le Coup De Foudre It's not an understatement. Yes dearest friend is my favorite song, but you definitely have more the OST is that good.

I promise when I say that I would give up all the dramas in the world ( Which is amazingly hard You know dramalovers) Just to save the main couple and secondary couple if they couldn't be together. Which means what you should do now:
STOP READING THIS WHOLE LONG ESSAY ABOUT LE COUP DE FOUDRE AND GO WATCH IT1 WHAT YOU DOING? DEFINITELY OPENING UP VIKI OR WHERE EVER YOU FIND THIS DRAMA AND WATCHING WITH WHAT EVER SUBS YOU NEED! Heck if you can't find subs just watch it raw it's good for you to miss out on.

Also I am rewatching it now! After watching it two times in 4 months!! No matter how many times you watch this you would just wanna watch it again! The only downplus is the blurred lighting but sometimes it looked cool so don't drop this drama for silly reasons you will never find a drama where is there is basically no dislikeable character, no drag outs, not a lot of misunderstandings, and not a lot of cliches, with amazing elements of just life, not just romance but Family the dependence, the love, Friendship, never letting go, and Qiyi's and Guanchao's brother and sister Twin relationship!!!!

Also if you love happy and satisfying endings! Drama for you! This drama has a lot of elements, and they just pieced it so well together, it's an understatement! Even though, it might turn out to be slow paced every moment that leads up to the best part, are not to be missed since they are also the best parts of the drama. I usually find myself skipping main leads conflict after they get together but I loved the main couple and even though I loved the secondary couple more it just might be because I found Zhang Yujian's character just not really my type, though he had portrayed Yan mo in amazing sense and Yan mo isn't just another domineering CEO with PTSD with a poor female lead changing him, or just another cold male lead who treats the female lead unexplainably horrible. Yan mo I like him as much of Jiang Chen of ALSB or Sheng Huainan of Unrequited love though the latter might be my male lead type : ) But nevertheless you will also love the male lead even though Zhang Yujian was a bit not my type I still loved him which proves you will love this drama's characters and what it has to offer you.

If you read to the end, please just go watch two episodes this review took me a Good hour I promise you just watch two episodes and you won't stop! Also at the end of the drama or now just answer the question:

Fantastic adaptation of the original novel.

As a novel fan, I sign up just to review this drama. Even there are many parts different from the book, I found it a well-written adaptation. The casting is all great, especially for the male main lead who handing the cold stoic guy really well. The family part is a bit too dramatic from what I read in the book but I can understand that it's to add up for 35 episodes.

I love the second half as it focuses more on the career choice. The script is very realistic. It's not easy to manage the SME, this drama shows that part of the struggle really well as all situations are surrounded by the job and they always work. Great job scriptwriter.

I loved the translated version of the book and when I found out that it will be adapted into drama, I was excited and apprehensive at the same time. I didn't want it to become too melodramatic, as what they did in My Sunshine. However, I was totally drawn into watching the whole series for 2 days straight. I've always found Janice Wu a very capable actress and she didn't disappoint. Zhang Yu Jian is such a great actor, able to convey real emotions while acting cold and stoic. I even looked forward to his creepy smiles. The chemistry between the leads felt so natural to me. I think the script writer(s) did a wonderful job in developing all the characters in the drama. The drama may not be as accurate as the biography of the author, but it was very realistic and nothing was exaggerated.

to be very honest, this drama hits all the right button. I have never seen such drama that has a slow-homey tone yet they delivered it beautifully. First love, family, sibings relationship, friendship - they have it. I was much more drowned to the family relationship of the female lead. The delivery and story made them so relatable that sometimes, I feel like I'm watching my own life with them. I'm a sucker of "past to present" dramas especially dramas that is set up 90's to 2000s, nothing is ever sweeter than going back to the young you right? Being in school again, having classmates, crushes, the environment, the feels. And these drama made me feel it AGAIN. It was like showing me reflections and making me realize a lot of things - things that sadly, I ignored before.
Just one thing, I wish they didn't drag the drama though. The drama dragged 10episodes towards the end. That no matter how much you loved a drama at the start, you will end up getting tired watching it if what they're showing is redundancy and predictable problems and sweet moments . Thats a problem if the producer tries so hard to stretch a drama, it loses its over-all quality. I believe they could have cut the number of episodes and focused more on the reunion of the two leads. I feel like watching a new drama in the last 10 episodes.
But hey! over-all I thoroughly enjoyed it. I loved the first 20 episodes so much and since they made me cry a bucket (exaggerated) in some episodes (which rarely happens), then this drama made among my top list. 9/10 for me

i started watching this drama with no expectations at all but i needed something to pass time and it seems like theres a drought of good kdramas. This drama crawled all the way to the best dramas i have watched this year alongside sky castle. This drama reminds me a lot of because its my first life although they tackle different issues but these two dramas gave me reality checks about life and i learnt life lessons. looking at the tags one would think its cliche but this is cliche done right! sometimes i wished some cliche moves will save the day but no, this drama seems like real life. i was smiling and awwwwwwn-ing this whole drama and when i wasn't, i was crying my eyes out. the acting was so superb i could relate to all of these characters. i could see myself doing making the same decisions they made.The topics tackled by this drama are a lot i couldnt keep count, there is divorce, pregnancy, entrepreneurship, relationships, family, friendship, remarriage, parenting, dealing with failure, ill health, death, rejection, communication, studying, step parenting, etc. Its good to add there is no bad person in this dram but the characters will keep you glued to the screen till the end. i didnt skip parts as i usually would in long dramas. i will definitely watch this drama again! it has secured a place in my heart!

CAST
**Yan mo** - He wasn't the typical cold male lead i am used to. he is very calm. way to calm to a fault but he is also caring and romantic (in his own way). i laughed a lot at his cluelessness and reactions to many situations. i like that his character was consistent the whole drama. there was no sudden change from cold guy to puppy lover that happens in other dramas. although he is very smart and logical he lacks communication skills and cannot really express how he feels inside.
**Zhao Qiao Yi**- she was slow and not book smart but she wasn't weak. i appreciate not having to see the puppy eye love thats very common with cdrama female leads. i like that she was able to solve some problems on her own. her relationship with her best friend, twin brother and parents have a lot to teach.
**Zhao Guan Chao**- He was my favourite character in this. had a playboy attitude but very kind hearted and loving. has the best sibling relationship i ve ever seen with Qiao yi. he is quick to protect and sacrifice for her. I love how vulnerable he was to real love and his reactions to situations.
**Hao Wu Yi**- Her relationship with her mother taught me a lot. and her character development was amazing. you will sense progressive growth in her character from high school all the way to the end.
**Fei Da Chuan** - he had the least character development to me but it wasnt that bad. i was hoping for him to drop some of his attics from high school as he was now in the cooperate world but he just couldnt lol.
**Alicia** -- Alicia is a girl i would have loved to hate but she redeemed herself gracefully and i started rooting for her.
**Qiao parents**-- brought a lot of comedy to this show. the support for their children was top notch. and although he was their step father he really step into the role so well you couldnt tell. meanwhile their real father is an ***.
**yan mo's mum**-- typical rich mum but was so sweet and understanding. she married early and took up her career instead of spending time with her son and its one of her regrets.
**Gao Fei **-- another of my favourite characters. he is a good example of how teachers should care for their students outside studying. i had my note pad ready everytime they visited him to take down notes because he spoke a lot of wisdom. Also prof Li had said some wise words i will never forget.

My favorite drama for 2019.....awkward but girl, awkward but loveable geek, even a cute dog...how can you go wrong! Even the 2nd characters have great story lines...my heart was melting during the "confession" scenes.
Great job with casting....the main couple had amazing chemistry, the secondary couple also had great chemistry.
Wonderful story of love between couples as well as love among family. The fact that this drama is based on a book written by the authors real life story makes this drama even more amazing. Highly recommend!! I've already watched the drama twice.

overall, i think this drama was really good as it had a good plot, good acting, it wasn’t to cheesy and teaches a lot of important lessons
first, i think the plot was good as it showed a bit of school life, romance and work life. it was a good mix of everything and i feel that it was well planned out. however, i felt some parts were a bit draggy and slow-mo which got a bit boring at times
second, the actors all did a good job in playing their roles especially yanmo. he’s such a quiet and awkward character but the actor still managed to pull that off well
third, this show teaches you so much, they have many sad moments and happy moments, i especially like it when the teacher talks to qiaoyi as he says a lot of meaningful things (not going to spoil anything here)
overall, it was well planned out and quite a good drama, definitely recommend it for those who like a mix of romance, a bit of comedy, school and work life kind of show

This drama is the best drama i've ever watch. All of them made perfectly!! But I didnt gave 10 in rewatch value because their story is very long. But totally this is a very perfect drama. I like the relationship between each character. They have a deep relationship with each other. Even the support role have an iconic character so i didnt easily forget. The OST is very veryy good. It match perfectly with their story. I love the character development. Yanmo, Qiaoyi,Guanchao, and Wuyi journey is very beautiful. The plotline show how they learn that life is very hard by the time they grow up. Le Coup De Foudre not only tell me about sweet love dovey Romance drama but also tell us about their relationship with family. How each character face their own problem with their family. Honestly, what makes me love Le Coup De Foudre is their supportive family. Really really recommended drama!

I tend to favour korean dramas as they're typically done in 16 - 20 episodes and even if I don't like it, I can finish watching it quickly and not feel too hard done by. I was actually interested to watch this drama because of 2 of the main cast - namely Janice Wu and Zhang Yu Jian and if you like these actors, this drama is probably the best thing you'll see with the 2 of them in.

I'm a real sucker for dramas which follow a 'gang' of friends from high school to adulthood that doesn't necessarily rely on flashbacks to tell a story, but actually spends significant time during those informative times. In this case, 60% of the episodes focussed on their high school years and not just on what they as kids was going through, but their school interactions and more importantly, their family interactions. Whether they're dealing with parental divorce, separation, step-parents, sibling relationships, illness or even death of immediate family - it was all covered and although there was a lot of comedy, there was also lots of heartache, sentimentality and just plain loveliness to observe as well.

I'm not typically a fan of any drama that is more than about 20 episodes in length, but this is an exception and it's mainly because the plot and story doesn't drag and nothing fantastical or unrealistic happens. Just people living their lives, growing up, growing apart or coming together but just generally doing normal things.

Nothing that happens is irrelevant so you're engrossed in every episode because it's likely that something said or done will have an impact in a future event and it truly keeps you hooked.

Acting and casting is awesome. You know it's good when after watching something, you genuinely can't imagine anyone else playing those roles.

I loved this and in my 'lockdown' state at the moment, I've re-watched this at least twice in the last 3 weeks as well as several times in the past because it's just so good and there's very little else out there that hits the spot in the same way!

This is one of the dramas where the romantic arc was really earned. Not just by some meet cutes or plotty schemes. It is very gradual like you actually fell in love together with the leads. I haven't felt like this in a long time and I thank this drama for giving me back these feels. I love Yujian despite people saying it's a bad acting. For me, that's how he interprets his character Yan Mo. In the first ep, I already felt the angst and the hurt, but the drama has a consistent fluff that made it adorable. I just hate the filter and the bokeh effect in most scenes, most especially in the past.
