Le Coup de Foudre (2019)

I'll start by dividing my review into two categories(this is my first one so bear with me)
Things I liked and Things I disliked and my overall view and consensus

Things I liked:
The writing is so beautiful and there are a lot of scenes and lines that will tug at your heartstrings and will have you clutching a box of tissues.The acting is great,the amazing writing merged with the good delivery makes this show memorable.The relationships(probably my favourite aspect of the whole drama) are so heart warming,and this relates to the non-romantic ones too.The friendships,family all made me sob and laugh so much(special mention to the twins who made me bawl my eyes out and step dad,I adore you!).The whole cast has brilliant chemistry and managed to produce many awws from me.Speaking of chemistry,the main leads also did well in this regard. Janice Wu and Zhang Yu Jian worked so well together.Another thing I particularly enjoyed was that the show has so many lessons about friendship,family,misconceptions and love.com
Things I disliked:
The hazy camera effect(probably to emphasize the flashback feel of the story)annoyed me just a tad(all the factors above made it bearable)and i felt like it obscured certain things so it did bug me but this is just my opinion after all people have their own preferences so don't let this deter you,you might like the hazy effect after all.
Consensus: Go watch it!I highly recommend it.Despite receiving criticism from other viewers for having a slow start,please stick through it,you will not regret it.I really enjoyed it! Edit: I realised that I might have been a bit too lenient so I'm gonna edit my rating.

Lovely story

Usual high school setting in the beginning where both male leads are top students. And female leads are not good at their studies.

What captivates me is that the story begins with the ending already. And the female and male leads are so matching for each other. As the stories unfolds of how they met in the beginning, seperated from each other for 6 years, met each other again, and how each one yearns for one other, it makes me want to continue to cheer for these couple.

It is also interesting to have the 2nd couple in the drama who becomes family with the first couple.

I also enjoyed that there is some additional scenes after the couple is married and not just end it with a wedding. Realistic yet romantically feel for this drama.

M i alone having second lead syndrome?

I only like u or le coup de fodure:-it's a good drama..having a good storyline and good execution.
But saying the truth i didn't find the story of main lead intresting.it was good when they were in school but after that it went boring.i loved the show because of second leads.such a beautiful couple with different love story.i skipped the scenes of main lead and watched the second leads.
Second main lead Eden zhao was more charming than the main lead..i truly loved him.
Why one should watch it?
1- if u r intrested in school youth drama
2-if u hate watching love triangle
3-if u love watching janice wu playing role of assistant

This drama may seem long, but it is worth watching!

What I liked the most about this drama was that it is very realistic!It didn't have incidents that were extreme, although there were some misunderstandings . I loved watching the bond between female lead's family. I loved her relationship with her brother. I also liked that we watched how the relationships between the characters changed trough the years from school to adulthood. I liked watching the characters' personal growth. While I was watching the drama I kept thinking about the reasons why the characters acted in some way, so I would say that it put me into thoughts. I didn't skip scenes like I usually do. I watched the whole drama in 5 days, because I liked it very much! Generally I have only nice things to say about this drama!

Ahhhh first love <3

These types of dramas makes me want to reminisce so baaaaad!

I really do love how refreshing it is to watch some chinese dramas after a looooooong binge watching of korean dramas. Chinese dramas has this refreshing takes on how they produce dramas. They still have some cliches but it's not as obvious and as often as the ones we see in kdramas (which is not really a bad thing, but it's nice to see a different take on things).

First things first. Wow these leads are like vampires. First they portray an adult version of themselves, then a high school version of themselves then back to adults. And even though they play both versions of themselves, we can see some visible changes in the characters' appearances. So kudos to the styling and make up team! nice work.

Secondly, what I really really like about this drama is how simple the story was. Nothing over complicated. Just two people who found love at an early time/wrong time and is ready to do anything just to find each other again. They went on with their lives, gave time a chance and when they did find each other again they made sure to smoothen out whatever went wrong in their relationship.

Also love, the portrayal of the sibling relationship here. Very realistic. Love the vibe of the families in this drama, though thye are not perfect they still continue on with their lives as much as they can.

Lastly, I love how nostalgic it was. Made me realize my first love and how sweet it was. And that is one thing I hate about it as well lol. Made me feel envious towards the end hahaha.

PS. the main couple were really cute!!! Also Guanchao is really cute as well hehehehehe. where can I find these types of men

Lovely c-drama!!

One word to describe: LOVELY!!

I truly love the couple!! They're so adorable. Love Qiao Yi's parents too. They are such a lovely partners and their bickering really made my day. Literally, I always cry a bucket whenever the scene between Qiao Yi and her father (not her real father).
I reaaaaallllllyyyyyy love this drama! Somehow the story could be relatable to my very own life. Secretly like a boy (but he's not like Yan Mo for sure, because he is too talkative), lmao! Both Yan Mo and Qiao Yi doesn't confess to each other which leads to misunderstanding.

your normal friends to lover trope

Honestly, being someone who loves happy ending, it was good to know that it will be one right from the start! No guessing game, though there’s a few misunderstandings along the way, which is understandable. Also, am a sucker for the cold male - warm female type of dynamic, so I do enjoy this show a lot!

Even with the second lead, it was good to watch them go from friends to lovers. Though people may dislike how Guan Chao kind of treated Wu Yi badly, and how Wu Yi is kind of immature throughout the series. But I do like to think that she is just a happy go lucky person, and we only learn when something big happens to us, which happened to her. So she doesn’t irk me as much as what others say hahaha.

Their acting is good, especially since I watched this show for Janice Wu, she’s so good at portraying different characters in different dramas. As for Yu Jian, I saw him in variety shows and that he really is so stoic in real life, but of course his acting is still pretty decent. Hopefully he chooses a good drama to act in, instead of one of a cold personality again so that people can really see his acting skills :)

Overall, it is a really good drama. It’s good to watch when you want something sweet, and want to believe in love.

I created an account just to give this drama a big ass 10/10. I watch a lot of Chinese dramas and this is hands-down the best one I've seen and probably the most underrated for sure. Not many people watch it but dang, it's so good from the romance between the main characters to the stories of the side characters, parent-daughter-son relationship, sibling relationship, friendship and so much more! Also, it is entertaining from start to end which is pretty rare for a Chinese drama but the first few episodes maybe a little weird to watch due to the editing but definitely a good watch!

Captivating! Real life love story?

This drama had everything I was looking for but did not know I was. True, the storylines might be slightly confusing as different time lines cross. I could not be more excited when I saw the text below the synopsis "based on a true story of the author Qiao Yi and her husband". I could not believe that this was based on real life love story! Sure I there were some slow-paced moments but overall the drama was very captivating!

The acting of all actors was definitely on par with the quality of the drama. I liked each and every main character.

I can't remember much of the OST.
But I would defintely rewatch!

FIND SOMEONE WHO'LL NEVER ALTER YOUR LANGUAGE BUT LEARN TO TRANSLATE THE MEANING BEHIND YOUR SILENCE

Yan Mo was silent but deadly. Killer smile. Like literally his smile would murder you. I dig the silent but deadly type. He was perfect that way. The appeal off the charts. Him with glasses? Yo, can I order one Yan Mo, please? Or two?

Zhao Qiao Yi was not anything I haven't seen before. Had the typical "I could tell you the truth like a normal person, but I'll keep it from you just because the script says so, even if it's fucking annoying". That was annoying.

I've never been a fan of time skips. Nope. Especially if it's stuck up the ass of the drama.

The thing I liked though was after the FL and ML met again, they didn't immediately jump into a relationship. People change a lot in a year, much more in many years. They slowly fell in love with each other again while still retaining all the feelings that had for each other in high school. It was better they didn't get involved in high school too; I would've had more bullshit to say to that. Not into second chance romances. But since all we got were feelings, I thought it was fine.

Janice Wu and Zhang Yu Jian had mad chemistry. Like not even romantically. They just worked. Even though this drama is lacking actual chemistry-chemistry. Y'know what I mean.

I wish Zhang Yu Jian acted in more good quality dramas. I'd love to watch him more. For Janice Wu... I didn't like Skate Into Love. Whoops. I thought she was good in this.

This drama is a re-watch scene goldmine. Literally, there are so many scenes you can re-watch over and over again.
- The car confession.
- Drunk FL revealing the relationship with ML.
- The ML and FL's brother confronted FL about her non-existent pregnancy.
- The flour hands hug.
So much material.

Yeah, there were so many cliches that were so annoying while first watching. But now, after the fact, I just skip all that shit, and I absolutely love this drama.

I'm a fan of J drama , and K drama... i seldom watch C drama.. but lately i start to see and found that C drama are like a dessert for me...
But, this one is different.. let me say , i'm in love with Le Coup de Foudre , my main course....
most of C drama have weak in plot or story line... but this one is mostly not , a neat one..
i feel i am floating in the beautiful stream , with breeze and warm sunshine. i miss my teenage year so much ... i don't want to become an adult....
it says more about their love , thought , feeling of each one. though i like love O2O , but i feel they try to extend the episode, though there is not much to say more..
in this, it doesn't try to explain us in a messy plot.. just jump to conclusion .. i love it. i wish to express it a little more... their editing is so bold and brave,...
