A Cute BL College Romance
I'm going to keep this review short and simple.First, do not take this drama seriously.. it's a light hearted drama, so enjoy it! Don't think about it too much.
Secondly... here's my review.
If you are looking for a light college romance BL, here you go. I am lovinggg these couples. I love how there are multiple. (I believe there will be a second season for the next couples we didn't get to see). The romance is so cute! One of my favorite things about BLs are when we get to see the characters backstory and how they fell for the lead early on. It's just one of my favs. We get to see plenty of that here.
Another fav trope of mine in BLs is a "bad boy" ML and a "softie/odd" ML as a couple. I absolutely loved them. We also get a second chance romance which I always love.
A couple of common complaints people are making is the lack of screen time for the "second" couple, (although they are considered a main couple). Which yes, I can see, they definitely could have gotten rid of a few scenes from our main couple. But I feel it was still wrapped up nice giving us viewers what we wanted. A cute romance.
Overall: A 10/10 watch. It got rid of all my stress watching this drama, and I certainly recommend.

A Powerful Drama of Justice & Revenge
The Judge from Hell is a solid drama blending thriller and mystery elements. The judge’s quest for vengeance was incredibly satisfying, and the overall atmosphere of the series became more compelling as the episodes progressed. However, I must admit that the moments I truly enjoyed were when the judge tracked down the criminals and delivered the justice they deserved. The acting—whether from the main or supporting cast—was fantastic. Each actor played their respective role exceptionally well, adding depth and nuance to the story. That said, I need to address the romance subplot, which I found poorly executed. Justitia’s sudden and underdeveloped feelings for Daon felt random and lacked depth. On the other hand, the storyline focusing on Daon’s feelings for Justitia was, in my opinion, handled much better at the beginning. However, this quality dropped off in the last 2–3 episodes, where his emotions felt rushed and unconvincing.
Additionally, the romance between the two characters often felt awkward. I wasn’t entirely convinced by the chemistry between the actors, and the excessive displays of affection—like the 40 hugs in a single episode—felt unnecessary and cringeworthy. These moments could have been omitted without losing anything substantial from the story. I believe this issue partly stems from the actress, Park Shin Hye. Having watched her dramas since 2011, I think she’s a talented actress overall, but romantic chemistry has never been her strong suit.
Honestly, the romance subplot could have been left out entirely. If it’s not well-executed, why include it? Either deliver a convincing, heartfelt romance, or skip it altogether and stick to the mystery, fantasy, and thriller elements that made the drama shine.
Despite these flaws, The Judge from Hell is an excellent drama. I almost binge-watched the entire series in just two days! (Though, to be fair, I skipped about three-quarters of the last episode.) Even with my earlier criticisms, Park Shin Hye delivered a strong performance, and I was especially impressed by Kim Jae Young, who surprised me with his portrayal. He’s definitely an actor I’ll keep an eye on going forward!

So good! Compared to it's Chinese counterpart - I'd say better quality, but not more enjoyable
Loved it! It was better than the Chinese version in many ways, but I think I enjoyed them just about equally. Equal enjoyment doesn't equate equal quality. I think the overall story was better here. The found family was the best I've seen in a drama (besides Love is Science? but that is a different type of found family). In this version THERE WAS NO LOVE TRIANGLE. God that was so much of a blerg in the Chinese version especially when you compare it to the lack of one in the Korean version. The lack of the love triangle meant that they could do Hae Jun's character SO MUCH JUSTICE. I loved his character. I loved his acting. I never felt bad because he didn't get the girl and you could tell that he played an equally important role in the sister's and the family's life.(We of course felt bad for him because of his "family situation" but not because he earned second place in his sister's affections - which became the case in the Chinese one. Then that made the relationship between San Ha's equivalent and the sister more central, overshadowing parts of the story that were better fleshed out in the Korean version.
Also, Hwang In Youp's acting was FAR superior to his counterpart. That, of course, is no surprise, because Hwang In Youp is a genius and we're all so so so so so so happy that he finally has his lead role that he deserves.
On the other hand. I will say that I didn't feel the chemistry as much. I felt his longing and love for Ju Won, but I never felt here's for him. It was almost like *snap* she's in love with him and it happened so fast and with nothing to support it and her character kind of felt flaky ever after. NOTE, I saw someone say they didn't like her character/the actress didn't do a great job. (This was before I watched it and why I held back from watching it for so long). I 100% disagree. I thought she did an excellent job. She was the glue that held the family together and she did a perfect job at it. It isn't her fault that they didn't do her justice in giving her the opportunity/reasons to fall in love with San Ha (besides the fact that his love is so apparent and genuine and all-encompassing, but having someone love you that much doesn't equate you loving them, and I just was never convinced. They fit together well and were a cute couple, there was just never the spark that got Ju Won there.)
On that note, while San Ha's counterpart's acting wasn't that good, I did think the couple from the original Chinese version had chemistry that their Korean counterpart lacked. Which is confusing. How can a poorer actor be in a couple that has better chemistry? I think it was directing/how the story played out. I still remember the scene where San Ha's counterpart says he's going to marry her early on... you just have to watch the whole thing.

Uhm excuse me Mr.Writer??
Allright, Lets not be too negative. I really really loved this drama, right up until half way the final episode when I realized there was only half an hour left and way too many open story lines. And oh yes, as the minutes crept on, I got a pit in my stomach and tears in my eyes. ‘No way did they botch up this one’, is what I was thinking. This was going to be in my top 3 BL. But then came the ending.
For those who crave happy endings, don’t start on this drama. It was a 30 minutes long ‘wtf’ in my head and a wave of unbelieve.
The story was so good, the chemistry was there, I absolutely love the soundtrack.
But sorry guys, whoever wrote the ending needs counseling.
Unless a season 2 is in the making and you will redeem yourself, I will come back to edit my review and chastise myself for speaking too early :)
Please, season 2?

Intrigue, Romance, and a Twist You Didn’t See Coming!
To confirm the theory that this director always gives the main couple a happy ending and a daughter, I decided to watch his hit short drama as well.Admittedly, the premise doesn't make much sense—face-swapping in what seems to be a Tang Dynasty setting? Really? But if you can overlook that, the story flows beautifully. The buildup of conflict, the plot twists, and the unwavering bond between the main couple are top-notch. They say it's a "green flag" when your partner believes in you (as if that's not the bare minimum in a relationship 🙃), and that's exactly the defining trait of the male lead.
Like many short dramas, this one isn't shy about showing intimacy—perhaps because censorship isn't as strict? And with its high production value, the sets and actors deliver an impressive experience.
I enjoyed watching it, especially since each episode is only 10 minutes long, and there are just 18 episodes available on YouTube.
Oh, and yes—the theory is confirmed!
So, the story flows well with strong characters and high production value, but the slightly unrealistic premise and niche appeal might not work for everyone.

Horrible writing, again
The first 4 episodes were pretty enjoyable, the writing and acting were average to good. Setting up what could be an entertaining show. 7 to 8 stars. Then it got worse every single episode from that point on. The writing is dreadful, each storyline gets dumber and dumber. Hee Joo becomes a female superhero who exits deadly situations over and over with nary a scratch, she should been installed as a character in squid game so that we know who the winner will be. The male lead goes from uncaring and calculating to an emotional, jealous, idiot.
It's comical to read people saying all the unexpected twists are great and they can't wait for the next reveal. There's 1 thing i can guarantee and that's the next twist will be stupid and unnecessary and just a lazy plot device to scrap out another episode. Ep 11 leaves us going into the finale with a 'twist' that'll be dumb just like every other one.

Stunning Visuals, Fiery Chemistry, and a Happy Ending You Can't Miss! ?
They present beautiful scenes, and because the central pair (CP) are married halfway through the story, there are plenty of intimate moments compared to the vague intimacy often depicted when the CP isn't married in other Wuxia dramas. For some reason, the filming locations seem different this time; there appear to be fewer of the usual buildings commonly seen when productions are shot in Hengdian. The CGI complements the story without going overboard. The chemistry between the leads is on fire, and the acting is top-notch.I love how the story provides solid reasons for each character's actions, supported by detailed background stories for the supporting characters. The director, known for his expertise in short dramas, likely contributed to the well-paced narrative. Oh, and there's a happy ending (the main reason I waited for the series to finish before watching).
The only thing that annoys me is the random Douyin-inspired makeup on one of the female supporting characters. Other than that, everything is spot-on!

The plot is good. Writing is decent. I find the pacing a bit slow, with zero build-up. I can foresee the story dragging, offering no grip to keep me going.

Worth watching once
Pretty good, but the last few episodes were overly dramatic and boring. I was hoping for more, but it wasn't terrible. I think the biggest connection I had with it was over the temperature intolerance that the human popsicles suffered from (because it's something I also have to deal with). There were some interesting points that I wish they'd explored more. It was like they couldn't decide what genre the story was.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
potevano fare meno episodi

Isso me deixou agoniada.
