Too Much
I don't know why this Thailand version decided to do a remake with comedic flair, but for me it was just too much and took away focus from the FL. The part of the charm of the OG "She Was Pretty" was the clumsiness and quirkiness of the FL. But almost all the side characters' overacting took away from that charm. How are we expected to see the ML as a mean, arrogant jerk when everyone around him is acting silly? Even the original CEO lady had her own quirkiness in the original but it was also overshadowed by the all the other characters acting the same way in this remake. I know that this is kind of comedic/slapstick genre is typical in some Thai dramas but I think it ruined this remake. The serious moments were good when they happened but the rest of the workplace comedy ruined everything. Also, I couldn't stand the way the FL kept calling the SML "Bro" and laughing off his confessions. The writers really butchered their relationship in this remake. It made me really dislike her. On a side note, I can't even remember the OSTs.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Supporting war
I wasted so much time watching terrible dramasSupporting war is a complex and often controversial topic. Many people argue that war should only be considered as a last resort when all other methods of resolving conflicts have failed, and even then, it comes with significant ethical, human, and societal cost

Support Genocide
This work support genocide!! Episode 11 12 got totally unnecessary storyline. Wasted whole minutes for that bed scene only and then with messy and rushed plot on one episode. Totally disappointed. Honestly the show was really good but the fact that they brought up that war is very ignorant of them especially since over 30,000 ppl were murdered in Palestine. They ruined such a good show.it's the same plot in "marry my husband" manhwa but they didn't put it in the drama. But this one????💀 pretty disgusting behaviour from the producers and MBC. Thinking of putting this on big screen after that "hypothetical attack" propaganda vid by criminal isra3l is really mind boggling yikesss.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Satisfying show
Do not be misled by the negative reviews. Critics tend to be harsh with jdramas more than any other. It is unfair and quite disheartening because jdramas offer so much emotional rides like no other. This was an awesome seriies. It entaiked the elements that makes a good show. The dogs were adorable and cute. The Ml was truly a rough diamond and the FL was a soft and sweet person. I thoroughly enjoyed this one . I hope to see more from the actors. I recommend this warm watch.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
Addams Family meets The Witch: Subversion
If you're in the mood for a dark, quirky, gory, unconventional family dramedy, check out this binge worthy kdrama. It's action packed with superpowers and superb acting from the cast.LIKES:
1) Bae Doona - she is phenomenal as the deadpan awkward mother figure who is trying to look out for her family the best way she knows how. Her character reminds me of Wednesday from the Addams Family and the FL in The Witch Subversion. A bit emotionally dead, but caring at the same time but also violent.
2) Lee Su Hyun - this newcomer rocked her role. Supposedly it's her debut, but you can't tell at all. She acted well, stood out, and made herself memorable which is not easy to do. I have to say the women really shined in this drama
3) The message - Despite all the gore and violence, at the heart of it, it's a family drama with an endearing message.
4) The humor - the director/editor/writer did a good job with balancing the dark & violent with bouts of humor
5) The action/gore - The action scenes were fun and the gore made me scrunch up in disgust....soooo basically effective lol
6) The acting - the entire cast from the family to the villains all were believable
DISLIKES:
1) The ending - the last episode felt a little corny imo. Not horrible, but a little anti-climatic
2) A bit forgettable - I had binged watch 5 episodes and then watched ep 6 much later and to be honest, I had pretty much forgotten what had happened in the entire drama. All I remembered was Doona & Su Hyun's characters.
Overall, an easy binge watch that felt fresh, but familiar at the same time. I would absolutely watch season 2 and would recommend this to those of you who like shows like Wednesday, Moving, The Witch: subversion, or A shop for Killers.

Love or Obsession?
The Trunk was a lot more than I expected it to be, and I mean that in a good way. Contract marriage plotlines aren't typically something I go for, but this one seemed interesting enough to get me to watch it, and the shorter length of it made it especially easy to watch. I didn't expect to get so hooked on it!Han Jeongwon (Gong Yoo) is currently going through a divorce that he doesn't want, and he's so desperate to keep his wife that he will do whatever she wishes to convince her; however, she insists on signing him up for a one year-long contract marriage with a woman of her choosing, and tells him that if he makes in through, she'll take him back. Jeongwon agrees, believing it the only way to win back his now ex-wife. The contract marriage should be straightforward, but it's anything but. Between the anxious drug addict main character, a contract wife with too many secrets, a controlling and manipulative ex-wife, and the ex-wife's new boytoy, there's bound to be conflicts. Things escalate further when the characters are towing the line between falling in love and convincing themselves obsession is the same thing as love.
This show did a great job at portraying the relationships. What I thought was super interesting was the dual timelines: one starting at the beginning of the contract marriage, and one about 5 months into the contract where the police are investigating the found trunk in the lake. The back and forth allowed for some excellent foreshadowing and parallels, though it did feel like they could have tied it all together a bit better. I thought that the contract wife's storyline was super interesting, but I just wish it had been a little more worked into the show. I actually quite liked the ending of the show, though it wasn't what I had expected for this one. I would say that it's best if you watch not just for the romance, but more for the rich people drama. Overall I'd say it's worth the watch considering how much they manage to do with only 8 episodes.

BEST DRAMA OF 2024-25
This drama had me HOOKED from beginning to end. The acting? PHENOMENAL. The story? AMAZING. The chemistry?? HELLO DO I EVEN NEED TO SAY ANSWER THIS, THE CHEM B/W YYS AND CSB WAS SERIOUSLY OFF THE CHARTS.I will say, for a romance/thriller, the thriller part was definitely mid - but since I'm not a thriller fan! It didn't matter so much to me. To be honest, that doesn't even take much away from the drama though (unless you're a thriller fan watching the drama for that bit of thriller and you expected more). The drama was a bit cringey at some points, but it really shows how in depth the actors' acting was. They all portrayed their characters SO well. YYS's acting was PHENOMENAL, but that's NOT to say CSB's acting wasn't!!! This was the very first drama I've watched of his so his acting really stood out to me.
To be honest, I wish this drama had more episodes. I don't know how I'm going to say goodbye to this drama. WILL DEFINITELY REWATCH LATER.

Slow Paced, Dragged Out
I was really looking forward to this drama as it was Gong Yoo’s comeback drama (save his minimal parts in Squid Game), and I literally didn’t know anyone else in the cast and it seemed like it would be kind of a psychological thriller given the title and the description of the drama. However, I think it’s a little misleading because where they do find this trunk, it took them a long time to get to it and even when they did they like didn’t care about it lol and I think that’s saying something bc they found the trunk and the body and were trying to piece together this crime alongside all of this backstory and lore with the characters, but it was kind of confusing because is it happening in real time are we watching a flashback, idk I just don’t think they did that good of a job differentiating the timelines as well as not making the trunk the focus of this story as the title would have you think.
The drama’s production was outstanding tho, the production quality and the angles that they shot at were so good and the color saturation was very dark and dull-toned which really gave like an indie-feeling to it and not your typical kdrama production.
This drama is VERY slow paced and I have to admit I did doze off quite a few times throughout it. It definitely felt long but I’m so glad it was only 8 episodes because any longer and I probably wouldn’t have finished it lol. There really wasn’t any action which I feel like is what made it seem slower than it was. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about it being a contract marriage and why, and I felt very confused for at least half of the drama because there was just so much going on and not enough elaboration really on any of it. Although I do like how you find Jeongwon and Inji slowly open up to each other about their trauma and you can tell that very quickly into their fake marriage that this one was different for Inji.
The psycho ex-wife was a little over the top, every time she came on she pissed me off and I’m like WHAT NOW!? Jeongwon and Inji really had such great chemistry with each other and I honestly liked how they went about with the ending. It’s not your typical love story BY FAR, I love that they were able to open about their trauma, work through it and just learned how to be and live by themselves after getting out such toxic relationships instead of just jumping into the next one. If it’s meant to be it’s meant to be and I loved the idea of if they met by chance at least twice, then it was meant to be and I love how the color of the drama became so bright and fun once they started living their own lives, it was really refreshing compared to the dark and slow ominous feeling of the rest of the drama.
Where this drama has its downsides, it has some equally good upsides. I was a little disappointed but I think the acting really made up for it, I mean have you ever seen a bad Gong Yoo drama? I don’t think I would recommend it, unless you like Gong Yoo lol and I definitely wouldn’t rewatch it. It really had nothing to do with the trunk and everything to do about psychological/verbal abuse which I don’t think is something you normally see in kdramas. Soyeon hiding the cameras in that fucking chandelier just like his father did with his mother was absolutely diabolical. What a psycho.
But overall, it wasn’t bad but it wasn’t great either. It would be a good drama to watch if you’re feeling a little lowkey/mellow.

So this was my first zombie/Apocalypse/ whatever this drama should be labeled under and I really enjoyed it! Of course, I don't have anything to compare it to, but I think it sets the bar up high.I went to the comment section before writing this review and honestly, it surprised me😂, but the comment section should never surprise me😂.
Several people mentioned that they didn't like it because the characters were selfish/infuriating. The characters didn't seem to care about the virus and whatnot...and I totally agree with them, but I don't think that made it bad. I think it showed that humans will show their true colors under certain circumstances. I also think it showed how people can change over time.
Take the cleaning couple, if they weren't given the opportunity through the sickness to try and kill the doctor and take his apartment...No, no they probably wouldn't have.
If there wasn't the sickness would they need to worry about stealing people's food and water.... again no.
Some might argue that it was because they were in a life-and-death situation and that is exactly my point! Everyone in that apartment building could have lived if they had helped each other. But humans by nature are selfish. Did anything most of the characters do make sense? NOPE! But I mean wouldn't you go a little crazy if you were put in the same situation? Logic sort of goes out the window😂
I also said though that it showed how people could change over time. I thought the writer's brother was the biggest jerk in the beginning! But then he showed that he really did care for his sister and even went to lengths to protect her. Would he have changed if not put into that circumstance? Who knows, but I'm guessing not.
Anyway, this is more of a rant than a review but oh well😂 all I can say is I enjoyed it🤭!

Abhorrent take.
"When the Phone Rings" attempts to weave a compelling narrative but ultimately falls short, especially in its final moments. The inclusion of the "Paltima" and "Izmael" conflict in the last episode feels both sudden and exploitative. This significant and sensitive topic is introduced abruptly, without adequate development or context, making it clear that the drama is leveraging real-world issues for shock value rather than contributing to any meaningful discourse. This late insertion of controversial material undermines the storytelling, showing a lack of respect for the audience’s intelligence and emotional investment. The decision to incorporate such a heavy issue at the final moments is like an attempt to avoid backlash, rather than a genuine exploration of the topic.
What else expected from Zionists, they never cared or will care even about their own people, that's why they always use the Holocaust to portray themselves as the victims and as an excuse to genocide the Palestinians, with that filthy "Never again" sentence, while one in three Holocaust survivors in Israel (according to the Holocaust Survivors' Organizations Center, 2023) lives below the poverty line — more than 40,000 people who lack food, medicine, and housing, even though this generation is the last with Holocaust survivors. Instead of helping these people, millions are spent on violence in Palestine.
If you say 'Never again,' shouldn’t you start by caring for those who survived the tragedy?, but yeah, they simply couldn't give a shit about anyone, all they do is destruction.
And its so damn disgusting that they'd ruin the drama further by using such a cheap tactic. Using a real-world crisis as a lazy plot device or political statement in a drama that had no prior connection to it. Pure misleading propaganda.
Just proves us again how the media works, as said the Zionist always feel the need to victimise themselves everywhere because their existence relies on perpetuating conflict and creating enemies to portray themselves as victims; without this cycle of manipulation and control, their survival as a state would be impossible.
No excuse for anyone. They ALL are at fault.
And don't tell me I'm overreacting or "it's not that deep", yes, yes it is. We won't let these Zionist do whatever they want, we will do anything to worsen their life and regret their actions, hope the writers career who's idea this was fumbles and he will loose everything he worked so much for.
All these innocent they killed are in heaven, but they will stay in this hell they created on their own. Its their fault and only theirs.

A Disappointing Watch
As someone who enjoys dramas and can appreciate a story even when the ending isn’t perfect, this drama was a complete letdown. The overall experience left me feeling like I had wasted my time. It wasn’t just the lackluster plot, but the forced incorporation of serious issues like genocide towards the end that truly soured the experience. Propaganda in a romance drama? Absolutely unnecessary and wildly out of place. The plot itself felt amateurish, reminiscent of cliché Wattpad stories. The so-called "plot twists" barely twisted anything and often bordered on being outright illogical. Many scenes left me questioning their relevance or reasoning, which detracted from the immersion of the story.
The male lead actor's off-screen behavior further tainted the drama for me. Knowing about his misogynistic tendencies in real life made it difficult to root for his character, which is supposed to be likable in a romance drama. This real-world baggage overshadowed any charm his role might have had.
In summary, this drama failed to deliver anything meaningful, engaging, or enjoyable. It’s not just a bad drama; it’s an example of how poor storytelling and misplaced agendas can ruin even the most basic premise of entertainment.
