I like season 2 more.

The first season was exactly what I expected, so I wasn't expecting much from the second season. But I like season 2 more. The amount of popular actors in this drama is amazing. Of course, the threads raised in this season were not fully developed. Probably because a third season was already planned. But for me this season was definitely more interesting. I feel like more characters were introduced and brought closer.

There were some elements that gave a glimmer of hope that the characters' situation would change. And sometimes there was a hint of unpredictability.

The choice of actors is questionable but in Korea it is increasingly difficult to find someone without a shady past. (And I am not talking about T.O.P because the criticism he receives is sick.)

the plot sucks

The plot is built with several levels of complexity, opening many possible doors for the story to develop. But in the end, there are so many doors that got tangled up. A weak story, with 12 episodes that could have been only 8. The main male character starts off with bad and self-centered behavior and later claims that he was like that to defend the female protagonist, but this is done in such an inconsistent way that it seems like a comedy. Don't get me wrong, the actors carried the story, both the main and supporting ones, but the story was poorly written, purposeless, disorganized and shallow.

LOVED it, but the ending ??

i loved this drama for what it was, the leads were amazing. i give props to the director for choosing the ml and fml for this drama because it was lovely. i liked the story of her being mute and the first few episodes really drew me into the whole drama. it got crazy here and there but it kept my interest luckily up until the end though ..

the ending was a mess and could of been way better. there were a lot of things the ml and gml did which could be avoided and those actions were ridiculous. i’m happy they are together but in this way i didn’t like, but anyways this is a nice romo drama for anyone looking for a romantic drama with a interesting storyline. i definitely recommend this one.

Overpowered but Flawed

"The Silent Sea" is a drama with a unique atmosphere, unlike any other. The idea of the plot is very intriguing: space, the moon, secrets, and mysteries.

However, in some moments, I wished for better execution, especially in the development of key story elements. The ending left a lot of unanswered questions, which I didn’t like.

As for the cast, I’d say I liked them more or less, but I couldn’t really remember the characters. I don’t think it’s the actors’ fault; perhaps if we had more time, I would have gotten to know them better.

Still, the atmosphere is so unusual and captivating that I definitely recommend watching it. If you’re looking for something unconventional and a bit dark, you’ll enjoy it.

Turn your brain off and enjoy

This drama is super fun, if you set your suspension of disbelief at Max and come with your expectations in check.

You may love this drama as much as I did (contentious finale included) if:

1. You like soap operas, trashy romance novels, and/or wattpad fanfics (or if you're old like me good ol' ff.net)
2. You love romantic thrillers with a high tolerance for makjang plot points
3. You love angsty desperate romances
4. You aren't nitpicky about the smaller details

You may not like this drama if:

1. You want a green flag ML, everyone is unhinged here do not expect normal people behaviour from pretty much anyone
2. You have a low tolerance for miscommunication (or the complete lack of communication)
3. You have a low tolerance for batshit plot twists
4. You hate the time skip/separation trope

As a makjang tropey romantic thriller this is great fun. Absolute junk food of a drama. Grab some popcorn and buckle up.

This is my 2nd attempt at watching this and surprisingly i managed to finish it this time. During the first attempt i got bored at watching this because i couldn't feel the chemistry between the main couple, idk probably because in my mind i'm thinking about their age gap. During this time i still had the same feeling, but i was eager to finish this so i could get it off my watch list. To be honest, it is actually good, ignoring the fact that i couldn't feel the chemistry, but the story itself and its other side plots surrounding it, is actually really really well put together.

I like how the story is very realistically practical, it's very mature, deep, and sometimes would make you cry. It's very relatable is what i would say. I thought there would be an imbalance between the focus of work scenes and the lives of characters, but good thing they managed to balance the two so one wouldn't overwhelm the other. And as expected in any kdramas, the comedy hit so well, i laughed at every comedy scene.

Character-wise, again i couldn't feel the chemistry between the main couple... maybe that's just me. Song Kang's character feels like Jae-eon (Nevertheless), but make it brighter. Miyoung, this is my first time seeing her, but i know she's a veteran actress and she's really great, she's so pretty, especially when she smiles she's so cute. The 2nd main couple is good as well, i like them, i felt their chemistry, theirs is very very practical and grounded, and that's why i like them. FLs sister and assistant director, i like their relationship, because i can relate to both characters, they both have aspects that i have, but it's just separated.

Overall, good drama, I couldn't be more wrong, you shouldn't judge it in the beginning right away, because you'll be in for a good story.

There is Much To Like About Brocade Odyssey

There is much to like about Brocade Odyssey. The acting was very good, the costuming was of a high standard (it has to be because show was all about brocade). The sets were also good. The OST was enjoyable and so was the story for the most part.

Right from the get go, we see how determined and resourceful Ji Ying Ying.is. I feel that this is one of Seven Tan’s best roles. Zheng Ye Cheng put in a fine performance as the newly minted Brocade Officer who is at odds with his family. Together, both leads are a wonderful OTP. In fact, this is one of the show’s strengths - the commitment that they have throughout regarding what became a tumultuous journey.

The early episodes gave a good appreciation of the ancient Chinese brocade industry. This including understanding silk, the weaving process, the dye process and how the colours are set using the local water fall and natural pool. We also get to see the conflict between the great brocade houses and the small independents ended up by Ms Ji.

For the most part, each of the story arcs were quite good. The acting certainly made this possible. However, I felt the last two episodes let the story down. In fact, the final episode spent too much time on the villains rather than on giving show time to wrap things up better. I also have to agree with some commentators how disappointing it was regarding what happened to some of the key characters. Some characters just disappeared.

Brocade Odyssey is worth your time. The leads are worth watching just for their relationship alone.

Good Story, Great Character Writing

After watching a trashy GL jdrama, I was looking at my plan to watch list, to see if there's another trashy sounding title that i can tick off. I ended up with this drama and damn. I didn't expect i would pick up a gold one and would make me cry like a river in the end.

The story is not just all that dark mystery about this kiss of death, it's actually more than that, though it started that way, it slowly developed into this puzzle piece game with a romance on the side. The first arc with the mystery killer though short and hilarious at times, was good. Although once you get the first hint it was obvious who was actually the killer. It's also just a groundwork to build up FL antagonist and her intention was all along. After that, okay where are they taking the story... now ML realizes he can make himself rich by taking advantage of the time leap to make things go his way and that's where it starts to get messy and exciting.

The second part of the story is what i actually like the most, everything was going smoothly for our ML, but as the story goes on, more and more you see him hit a wall, and he has no choice but to actually start thinking and planning before recklessly going into time leap because, every time he time leaps, that doesn't only change his future, but also starts affecting his surroundings. And i like that even though he has the upper hand to curate his path, the story will still naturally find its way to corner him. Along the way, there are also parts where they start tapping into human emotions, that will touch your heart. It's not just all this if could redo things to make yourself rich, you'd do everything, It is also about spending time with your loved ones while they're still alive and that's where the romance on the side slowly creeps in because i doubt every time you'd kiss each other even if it's just contractual you wouldn't fall for the other. The romance was already sad as it is because it got caught up in this love triangle, then you see it get thrown out the window in the end as a way to redeem ML, like why would play with my heart like that?!?!?!

I say great character writing because you have these innocent characters who were forced to become villains because of the ML's greed to keep messing with time, some characters became good, and some remained villains to be the necessary evil. It's not every time you time leap that you would see the same flow, because other characters actually evolved and would start affecting things.

The way MC was written to only chase money, not women, you see his back story as to why he became that way. It's fucked up, sad, like really sad and you'll start feeling for him, then he starts to progressively mature and corrects everything in the end. THE FUCK WAS THE POINT OF HIM REALIZING THAT ALL THIS MESS STARTED BECAUSE OF HIS GREED, SO HE DECIDED TO NOT BE WITH FL IN THE END?!?!?! I get it though, he has this greed, he's the scummiest of the scums, so he decided to not redo his romance with FL because he's afraid that he might just still take advantage of her down the road. I was surprised that it was Kento, he's so cool here.

I like how FL was painted as a villain in the beginning, but she wasn't actually and became this important tool in MLs life. Her dynamic with ML was really funny, I like how she can bluntly diss back, with no holds bar and you'd see ML get choked. They have a really good back-and-forth going on, that's why i preferred her to be ML's endgame rather than Mikoto. Whoever Saiko's actress is, imma have to look that up, she's so cute!!! She's like an amalgamation of Adora because of the hair, Kim Jiwon because of the nose and eyes, also Seoyeon from fromis_9.

The one i was impressed with the most was Takauji, because in the beginning he's just this good "innocent" person who's really keen to protect her step-sister, no matter how his uncle sways him, but again because of ML's greed you'll start to see him become the villain that he didn't want to be. His sole job to protect his sister became an obsession in turn he's forced to do bad things and it's just sad to see.

I don't really have much to say about Mikoto, she's okay. In the beginning, i preferred her for ML but because she's just being used by ML you'll start feeling sad for her, though it was true still that ML actually managed to love her a little.

I had a lot of curiosities about the intricacies of the power and It was funny when my curiosity actually happened if the time leap would still actually work if it was girl to girl HAHAHA, the same thing as well if it was Man to Man, that was super hilarious. They managed to answer everything as well as if they could actually return years later, though only in words, not in practice.

Overall, Good Story, Great Character Writing. I rate it 9.5 because I'm bitter about the ending HAHAHAHA but in my heart, it's 10/10.

Female Resilience!

Zhao Lu Si, my beloved flower💗🌸

This drama was such a masterclass in terms of acting, cinematography, styling, music, just everything was so splendid. I loved the cast, the complexity of the characters. Duan Wu’s fighting spirit and determination, but also her sensible side and strength, her resilience, her love, her loyalty. What a wonderful character, Zhao Lu Si played her to perfection. Cui Shi Jiu was an interesting character as well, who I pitied by the end of the show. CSJ was in some ways similar to Duan Wu, but she was so much more aggressive, hot-tempered and rash in her decisions. The ending… let’s not talk about it, I cried too many tears😭🤚🏻 My only criticism would be the non-stop problems befalling Clear Mind once Duan Wu set up her business. It was repetitive: she takes care of one person sabotaging her and her business, and whoops: next person coming to mess with her. Regardless, this drama was wonderful. It puts female characters at the center and shows their strength and resilience, their intelligence and sensibility. Truly, a great show. 💗

Still worth to watch

whenever i watch a season i kept reality of life in mind, at the end of 10th episode the mad person came and show a fire by some trick and kidnaped a heroine (don't remember Koreans name so difficult for me) and ya she was ready to get kidnap , wait for my final review on this season , till now its not more then 6 stars worth it

ok completed the season, but don't understand why he disappeared in last scene, his father was murderer not him , what a childish act just for sake of another episode lol , will increase the rate to 7.5 some how can say impressive work by all team
