Horrific to watch and tragic that it happened
Well, where to start really? This movie was harrowing, following the journey of a newly appointed teacher who discovers child sexual and physical abuse occurring at his new post.l and the subsequent fight for justice.
The acting was excellent, but some of the scenes felt far too much to be occurring between an actor and a child… unless there was some nifty editing, some of those scenes shouldn’t have been played by child actors.
Realistically, given the true story, the depth, and all the twists and turns it took, it should have been a series. However the subject matter is so dark and disturbing, with no let up, and not even a glimmer of a happy ending, as such series may have been too much to bear watching. So I can see why a film was probably better, but so much was missed or shown slivers of the battle that it took to even get the crimes to trial.
Overall, I would never even consider watching this again, but the story needed to be told.

Couldn’t be any better
This was my first K-drama and it hooked me in, I fell in love. From the storyline, to the characters (and actors), to the music, to the comical sound effects. The main characters are great and portray their characters very well, especially the ML, I love his acting style in this. The directing is excellent and I just love the sound cute effects. I have struggled to find another drama that compares with this, it’s a 10 out of 10 all round, even 3 years later after the second watching and many more dramas on my list. I would love to see a season 2 made. I don’t know if I will find one that beats it, it will always hold a special place for me.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

A lovely story
A lovely story about a young autistic woman finding her way in the world and overcoming the prejudice she faces through her brilliance in her field. It lost some points for the savant bit - as savantism is actually incredibly rare, but over done. And she was a walking autistic stereotype - in a “high functioning” individual it is unlikely that they would be quite as autistic as Woo Young Woo. I think this would have been helped by having more neurodivergent input into the making. Despite that, I really enjoyed the story.
I found the depictions of how Woo Young Woo was affected by noise, and her little idiosyncrasies well done, it captures the overwhelm really well.
I love the use of wales as her special interest, I like that she uses her friends and family to learn about life and how to deal with the world around her, I like the education aspect. The greeting between Young Woo and her friend was brilliant!
The child actor that played Young Woo was really very good, she portrayed a young autistic child very well.
I will certainly watch this again.

A strong start, but what on earth was that ending?!
The series started really strongly, with suspense and intrigue, a loveless marriage, kidnap, blackmail, and more. But halfway through it seemed to lose all momentum and descend into a clash of different angles that seemed to run together head on.
Once Hee-Joo fell down the cliff, everything just went wrong. It was all just too much, too many absurd unbelievable story lines hashed together to make a very unrealistic story. And yea, I know, K-dramas aren’t know for their realistic nature - but this pushed it to the extreme.
The actors were excellent, but the script and direction really ruined what could have been a great drama.
What the heck was the final episode and Hee-Joo running away to a war zone all about?! For all of 15 minutes?!
Rating it as the best of 2024 - laughable.
