On October 30, media insiders reported that Jun Ji Hyun, Koo Kyo Hwan, and Shin Hyun Been would lead the upcoming new zombie film by director Yeon Sang Ho.
With this, the actors' agencies responded to the casting reports. According to Koo Kyo Hwan's agency Namoo Actors, Colony has been offered to the actor and he is currently reviewing it.
Shin Hyun Been's agency also responded to the casting news. According to Yooborn Company, the actress is also considering the offered film.
Colony will be the newest zombie film that will be directed by director Yeon Sang Ho. He is known for creating the works Train to Busan, Peninsula, Parasyte: The Grey, Hellbound, The King of Pigs, and more.
The upcoming film will revolve around two or more homogeneous individuals who are connected to each other. According to reports, director Yeon Sang Ho will develop a new genre where a community of humans and zombies will be connected.
Yesterday, Jun Ji Hyun also received the offer to star in the upcoming film. According to her representative, the top actress has received the casting offer, and is one of the projects she is reviewing.
Colony will reportedly premiere in 2026.
If Koo Kyo Hwan confirms his casting, this will be his reunion with director Yeon Sang Ho and Jun Ji Hyun. He has worked with the director several times already and the most recent one is the 2024 K-drama Parasyte: The Grey. He also worked with Jun Ji Hyun in the 2021 special series Kingdom: Ashin of the North.
Meanwhile, this will possibly be the second upcoming movie of Shin Hyun Been with director Yeon Sang Ho. She is also set to star in the upcoming movie Revelations and will work with actor Ryu Jun Yeol.
