2 hours of painful bullying & justifying revenge violence
Still not sure what to think of this one. But personally i think that the current score of 8.2 is overrated. Guess i think that its mostly because of the popular actors. The mandatory good looking male role, but doesn't do much to give the female role her spotlight. A typical heart-breaking sad background story to the female lead to give reason to her unlawful behavior. Personally i felt that Park Hyuk Kwon, playing her father was miscast, because it gave a sense of humor to the overall story that seemed forced, stiff and not appropriate to the overall mood. To balance the sadness out it wasn't funny at all, just absurd and ridiculous.
Generally it was pretty long with almost 2 hours for a bullying story with revenge character. But i liked that they took their time to build the story. It was actually hard to watch the physical, emotional and psychological bullying scenes. Pretty realistic and painful to watch. Even if the role of the devil student, played by Lee Jun Young was a bit overexaggerated it fits the character and overall plot. He was definitely giving his all to be evil.
The fight scenes were nice choreographed, but not realistic at all. Typical fast cutted from multi-angle views. Didn't enjoy it much as an action fan. But kudos to the stuntwomen and man, the scenes where they wore the mask were great and really amazing. Long shots in one go. Unfortunately they're not listed at all in the cast list like usual. So my appreciation here, because it was one of the things that made this movie watch-worthy.
What definitely stood out was Park Jung Woo acting, playing the bullied kid. Such a talent that really got across the emotions. I actually hope to see him in more versatile roles and not just playing Guest and Support roles.
Still not sure if i liked the message that this movie tried to send. Yes, it was simple not to look away and endure everything, but actually it's a movie where the showdown is that a teacher beats up his student. And everybody is happy about that and cheers for revenge violence.

IS IT WRONG THAT ALL THIS HEALS MY INNER CHILD?
I love a good story...who doesn't? Throw in bullies getting what they deserve and I'm in.As someone who was bullied throughout my childhood, this was therapeutic...something in me was at peace watching that POS taking those kicks and punches.
Seriously try watching it...if you're stuck being timid or weak at work or school to keep your job or just in general, WATCH THIS!!! You want to yell at your boss because they're being evil little shits but you can't cause you need the job? WATCH THIS!!!!
You'll heal things you didn't know you had.
I want part 2 already; with another culprit getting it. She's like the clean-up crew fr.
Shin Hye Sun delivered and then some, she's becoming my favourite actress with all her amazing work. I especially loved the braided look.
Lee Jun Yung was also exemplary...I mean we hate him but I'm going to look for more of his work cause his acting is amazing....plus he looks good being all evil and shit.
The supporting characters...esp the victim did a good job too, you could be immersed in their emotions while watching.
All in all, this was an awesome movie...totally worth the hype.
NOTE TO SELF; Korean youths are terrifying, every time I see a bullying scene in a KDrama or KMovie...I want to crawl up and disappear.

Overrated
The acting and emotion that goes into the heart wrenching bullying scenes are great but the logic is terrible. Bullies with connections get away with things including reckless driving, sexual harassment, and attacking teachers, and apparently only the bullies have cellphones and social media. The light hearted moments and serious ruin any sense of pacing and annoyed me through emotional whiplash. The story would have been better suited for a short Netflix series instead of a long movie. This story has been done better before. A man from nowhere is a better movie that I could rewatch over and overConsiderați utilă această recenzie?
cool but... weak?
Brave Citizen is an ok movie for me and the reason is because the plot is childish and unrealistic.I mean, why and how there would be a boxing tournament in a SCHOOL where students are watching and the TEACHER is fighting against a student? ?
How on earth this would be approved to happen?
Don't get me wrong, the bullying thematic is indeed important but it shouldn't have been so childish.
The Male Lead was interesting but he started to turn into a cartoon villain at the end in my opinion.
Plus, after the whole fight, how the teacher didn't ended up arrested? She beat up her student (the bad boy) and nothing happened? Even though he (student) had a powerful family that could do anything to arrest her?
Well, besides everything i said, the actors did their jobs amazingly, it would be waay better if the whole story had taken a new path so they would have shined even more
obs: i loved the teacher's "meoow" lol

A movie that will annoy you
A movie that would want you to jump and intervene through the screen. The bullying scenes made me squint my eyes I was fighting the urge to skip in some scenes. Now regarding the story I wouldn't say it is far fetch from reality in a way. Social status, wealth, and reputation are something that is known to us. After hearing about teachers quitting and committing suicide due to student-teacher bullying, this drama made me think how bad it is in real life (hopefully not to this extent). This drama is a friction but I also felt it represents a desire and 'IF ONLY'.
I have read someone write that the villain was straight from hell and I couldn't agree more. His acting is next level, it wouldn't be too far-fetched if I say he is a psychopath cause that wasn't normal. One thing I'm not a big fan of is when high school bullies don't look like high schoolers. in this case, the villain looked way older. the fighting scenes were top-notch (coming from someone who knows nothing about it).
Now about the ending I don't know, it was somewhat of an open ending but not really, we know she will expose and turn the school into a safe place. we also get that her former colleague might have told her to join this new school.
Overall, I wish this was a drama instead, I think I might have enjoyed it more. Maybe cause I love backstories and also love to know if the villains are facing the consequences of their actions. but as a movie, I will say it is okay not the best and not the worst too.

honest review
movie was shit, what is it with freaking korean movies and bullying and why does it feel like bullies in school is far more threatening to korean society than terrorism like wtf and if you are gonna punish a bully beat the shit out of him and send a message to bullies out there that you are fucked if you bully, why go soft on a bully when a bully is literally killing someone and what was with that cop saying teachers can't beat students but a student can touch his teacher inappropriately, teachers are literally for education and putting some senses into spoiled rich asshole kids ????Considerați utilă această recenzie?
Not good not bad
A nice movie to watch when you want to watch something simple.Pros: the actors are really good in their performances and he is very nice to look at even if he seems a bit psychotic.
I really liked the fight scenes, very real and interesting to see.
even the bullying scenes were very realistic and well done
Cons: The plot was a bit strange as far as I'm concerned with an absurd school environment and without the slightest control from the teachers.
and also it has nothing to do with the film but I got bored of always seeing films/TV series about bullying, change the plot, invent something new

Meeeooowwww (if you know you know)
Honestly, I REALLY enjoyed this movie!!I don’t know what is it with Korea and making bullying movies and shows but damn it…they do it so well.
From the beginning, the actors do such a great job because I was so frustrated and mad immediately!! I knew the characters needed development and a little push later but I needed them to punch the bully immediately like dang!!!
It was emotional, scary and yet, so so satisfying in the end.
There’s just something so cool about a vigilante teacher LMAOO
Though I wasn’t expecting the story to steer that way, I am so glad it did because man, I was never bored during this movie.
It’s crazy how you find your passion through such a weird situation, fighting bullies as a teacher but masked? Hell yeah. I hope this concept is done once more and maybe turned into a kdrama. So so good.
If you’re into revenge k-dramas, man i’m telling you this will feed you GOOD.

Shin hye sun is my favorite actress
really good film...and this actress is an exceptional actress...she plays wonderfully well...all the roles she plays makes the series or film splendid...I loved this film.... .. I loved the film, it's really very good, as the plot unfolds, we become more and more involved, and the film has very good quality, everything seems very real, it ends up that even we ourselves become sad and with angry, but then he becomes very excited and happy, I really liked it, I highly recommend it, I thought it was a series but then I realized it was a film and honestly I didn't give anything for this film, but it delivered everything, it surprised me, it's very good and cool, the fight scenes are really well done, man this movie is wonderful.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
such great potential to become a series
Highly recommended movie abt school bullying and revenge! Despite being quite dark, it doesnt miss on the fun factor at all. The bully is excellent in his own part, and so is the candid-looking teacher. I enjoyed this a lot.The plot is simple and flows one direction, hardly any character development, but it's quite satisfactory to see the justice being served. No unnecessary side characters. Good fighting scenes.
The ML is obviously past the school age, but his looks and acting compensate this. He is very versatile, it takes you by surprise, and he's got a sort of standard features that help him morph into any character. The FL is pretty and funny and so is the cat mask.
Excellent!
