More than just the return of MaxTul
First of, it's so refreshing to finally see Max and Tul playing somewhat functioning adults. It’s a major development from eternally teenage acting Korn/Knock.I usually complaint about the pacing in dramas, especially BLs, because half of the time the main characters are either fighting or trying to get back together. Manner or Death, on the other hand, is more of a slow burn on the romantic front and has compelling plots happening at the same time. All characters are interesting and fit into the overall narrative of the show. I like how we get introduced early on to characters that might not look important at first and then we start to see them in a new way episodes later. The acting on this show is amazing, everyone brought their A game.
I feel like this show explores the mystery aspect very well. There are many twists and the mystery is being developed throughout the series, and not just in the last 2 episodes. It’s a very complex situation, so I thing the viewers can’t easy start to predict what gonna happen too much ahead. Unfortunately, as it’s the case with mystery series, the rewatch value is diminished greatly the the nature of the plot.
I’d really appreciate a reasoning for Tan’s enormous house having a kitchen on the back porch and several empty rooms. In my head cannon that’s the secondary kitchen they use because it has the view of the woods.
It’s not related to the plot, but I have to say this: I hate the main promotional imagine for this show.

Watch it. You'll regret it if you won't.
Okay. First off. I've always, always been here for Maxtul, but I could never rewatch any of their other series because of A. They contained major queer stereotyping and internalized homophobia, buuuuuttt it's like MoD took a 360 and turn around all this homophobia and I'm here for it. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I thought this is one of the few shows that did a good representation of us. So anyways unto the series.1. Setting: Viangpha Mork definitely has those dark, gloomy, inky atmospheres that either make you feel cold or sleepy. IDK why but it does that for me. And so I thought it didn't need to be all that to be mysterious or eery, but it kinda helps with the setting, I guess? Altho it's more on the post-production than the actual place, so there's that. (But the place they used as Viangpha Mork is sooooo beautiful tho? If I ever go to Thailand, I'd definitely. definitely go there.) Anyway, they wanted to portray a little town, where even in its close-knit community, has ill powers lurking everywhere. And that's just how it is in real life anyway. Like the abortion clinic, and the murderer aspect. It kinda gave it the extra mystery because of how tiny and close-knitted their community is, it still shows they only know so little, just above the surface. It was a good touch. But I still think you can do that without it looking like "Forks" or "Collinsport" yk? But Tan's house was a dream tho. I'd love to have one myself.
2. Writing: Goddamn. I think this is the first time I've seen a MURDER/MYSTERY/THRILLER CRIME Series, where the characters have no qualms of going around, leaving their goddamn fingerprints everywhere. I mean it could be because of how small the town is, they didn't have equipment for these? IDK but damn. Not even a single cloth finger gloves like the magicians use? I mean but well, it's kinda minor tho. and the other issue is how Bun is like the all-around doctor in the series. I mean it could be because he's the only surgeon in the town? and so he has multiple cases of different stuff? Like at one point it seemed like he was in the ER, in the surgery room as well. But I think he's supposed to be just a pathologist tho? Maybe? Or maybe they decided to change it up and made him into the chief surgeon who also does autopsies? I personally think that's how it is. Anyway, the rest of the writing was super good tho. Like how they make characters seem like it is, then make them the good guys again, then the bad guys in the next scene. It was good. It wasn't extra. Just natural and subtle. It's like the ONLY guy who I know is the good guy is Dr. Bun and that for me, made it even more exciting.
3. Actors: Well as you can all see (or will see when you start watching) everyone in this series are such eye candies. Every single one of them. Yes, I know some people will not agree. But to each his own. But they were all good-looking people goddamn. OMFG. My bisexual self just kept on rising and getting on edge every episode goddamn. But what I loved about it more is how most of their actors are new in the BL scene. Like they are in the entertainment industry, but not in BL. And I think that's amazing because it means that this series was recognized to be a Crime/mystery/ thriller, not just as BL. I understand that there are a lot of actors that are not comfortable acting in such because to each his own, but damn, the number of fresh faces I saw there excited me to no end. The only familiar face there is Dr. Oat and MaxTul, and Tan's brother, but YK. Amazing.
4. Acting: The actors acted superbly, for a crime series, and IDK that made it even more amazing for me because, FINALLYYYY no one is fangirling, shipping, or drooling over the hot guys. IT WAS SUCH A RELIEF. I'm so done with the usual roles of girls in the BL series. I'm not just talking bout the fangirls, also how most girls in BL acted. Either they want their male friends to be gay and ship them with other guys, or how their gay friend automatically is supposed to be the fashion icon just because they're gay. Like, stop it, people. Their sexuality does not dictate their fashion choices stop it. And well some actors definitely need improvement, and will ofc become better with more projects to come, but overall, it was the best at their current limitations and capabilities and I love that for them.
5. Cinematography: Idk what else to say. One of the very few Thai BL series that took my breath away with their camera work. it was quite simple? Like I mean it wasn't unique in the crime/thriller series to have unique angles to give it the ominous aura, but for a BL? This made me so happy. Their exploration and their ambition to produce variety in the BL scene made me so happy. It's FINALLYYYYYY. Thailand, please produce more quality series, please.
Overall, it wasn't a perfect series, but for me? It was PERFECT. It was everything I needed and more. A BL series where the BL plot isn't the driving force of the show but instead overshadowed by the murder mystery plot, and the showcase of issues and the reality of our society? I mean, someone better stand up and show me that. That's amazing. And what's makes it even better is that this can serve as a starting point or a booster for other producers who's been wanting to bring something different in the Thai BL scene, but were hesitant for the market's reception. I hope this shows them that even with all the toxic fanatism in the industry, there are those that came for the show and the representation. And I hope it shows them that the market is growing bigger and diverse and that it's more than okay to explore and go beyond what's bringing more money in.
Anyway, I've said so much now. WATCH IT PLEASE. POR FAVOR. Have an open mind, watch it for it is, without any expectation. Just watch it.

My 10 Stars Rated BL Series
Great plot, Great story lines and Awesome Actors!! If you like to watch something more mature, serious, investigation and crime show that isn’t like the typical BL movies, than I would highly recommend “Manner of Death”!The really good thing about this BL series is that it doesn't focus on student life and love dramas. This action movie focuses on the forensic, criminal and investigation. It has a balance between the action and romance between the Tul/Max - well I don’t mind slightly more romance as I really love both of them. I do like how the stories being plot even though some scene could’ve been a bit better at parts.
I have always liked Tul / Max in whatever series they had a role in. I have watched a lot of movies in which they have starred - not many to begin with. Before "Manner of Death", I found Tul/Max have always being playing student or freshman roles, at least - that's what I remembered. I always felt that Tul/Max able to portray a more sophisticated, serious and mature character - and I’m proven right, I found that both Tul /Max did a very good job in “Manner of Death".
Tul gave the best performance of the series, and this character really suits his style - stable, mature, intelligent, energetic of which, didn't even go through some traumatic experience for him to show his acting chops. Max on the other hand, continues his tradition of being the guardian and care taker of Tul. Nonetheless, something I really like about his role of being mysterious. That should say enough about the calibre of Tul/Max acting. Excellent performance.
I am also very impressed with all the supporting cast in this movie. I can feel the great synergy between them and the main actors - so much better than the others BLs drama.
Honestly, I really enjoy this series and to my opinion, this is the best BL series i ever watch, thus far. Really hope there are more similar genre series but longer.

As far a the story itself goes, being overall interesting, it was made to be so complex at times that it was kind of frustrating. It got to a point where you're suspicious of every new character no matter how they are involved in the plot.

Ive rewatched this show 5 times
As you can tell from the headline, I've rewatched this show a number of times and it never gets old, even the smallest things like where they filmed where impeccable! the first time I watched it I couldn't tell who the murderer was, and I kept flip flopping but after rewatching it the signs were there. those small details combined with amazing giant ones is what really makes a show. I know I sound easily impressed but goodness! it just couldn't be better! 10/10 would recommend its now one of my favourite shows ever!Considerați utilă această recenzie?
The Kings are so back!
This is not your usual BL series. I love the element of suspense, mystery and romance in this drama. The subtleties of the romantic connection between Max and Tul is enough to make your heart giddy. As always, Max and Tul give justice to their characters with their great acting. Their eyes and facial expressions convey the emotions even without any dialogues.
The suspense is so nail biting, we are already at episode 5 yet the killer still remains a mystery. I like the use of medical language because it tells that they did their research to make it well-written.

Difficult to categorize this drama - just watch it !
This drams is just well scripted as a crime drama, and if it is added BL essence... it becomes ' WOW ! ' All characters/actors are superb. Some act very suspicious – some surprising facts are spread over every episode and you want to re-watch from the 1st episode. You are on roller coaster – up and down! While calming down your emotion, you can enjoy the scenery set at very beautiful Thai nature. Thai tourist board should promote this drama for their campaign.
As for BL part,
I didn't know Max and Tul until this drama, how had I missed their existence! They are King of BL -once you witness their bond and passion, other BL couples will fade away. They did great job to put their soul into tutor Tan and Dr.Bunn. No need to talk - their eyes and faces speak how much they are caring each other. Once they get overwhelmed, nobody can stop them.
*** warning ***
Do not forget to breathe- their love scene is easily taking your breath!

Manner of Death
In simple Language - I LOVE IT (so far)I usually don't tend to give reviews, even if I enjoy a drama, partially because of laziness and partially because I have never had the impulse, where a drama gave me such a stimulation to actually give a review.
Manner of Death - Starts off (for my taste) a bit dry - there wasn't much going on, but from ep 2 it starts building up and generally your expectation towards the drama gets even higher. It makes you guess what may happen next.
Personally, this drama (so far) has everything which may arouse a watchers interest - Romance, Mystery, Crime and etc.
I won't give any spoilers - but do go check it out (if you're anything like me, who tends to lose interest/get distracted really easily).

Yawn
I am so sorry to sum this series up this way, but it just did not capture my imagination as much as I thought it would. It seemed so enticing in the beginning but then it got twisted in its own story plot and for me, predicable. Let us establish up front that the leading men are some of the handsomest men on the planet and have such good chemistry together, but it is not an overly romantic tale. In fact, the romance is rather anecdotal (until the end). The storyline is rather complicated, and it is so belabored in detail that you have to see it to believe it. It felt too much like a cop ‘soap opera’ which I know of course it is. I would, however, still recommend this as it has some delicious plot twists and some evil people and some very handsome men.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
I expected more, but it wasn't bad.
Honestly, I feel like the production value could have been way better, I could literally hear the poor sound editing in many episodes. But the technical stuff aside, in terms of the story, maybe more episodes would have been a good idea to flesh out the plot properly because it fell short, and it seemed a bit rushed. The acting was awkward and stiff in several places, MaxTul have a lot of natural chemistry for sure, every fan of theirs knows that, but in this show it felt like they were trying too hard to have chemistry instead of just doing what they do. Could have been all the pressure or just iffy directing. Many scenes also felt out of place (or, due to the low number of episodes, underdeveloped in the over all plot) But still, MaxTul carried this one home anyway, even with the super cheesy ending, I enjoyed it, it wasn't amazing, but it's not bad.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Totally sold on detective developments, not sure relationships wise
Thrilled by the detective story unfolding with each episode, but past the middle of the story the quality of the script significantly deteriorated, both in terms of the crime story (improved a bit closer to the ending) and relationships wise it turned into a loose collection of hackneyed BL cliches.Love for:
1) The detective and forensic multilayered part of the story. Focus on relatable and recognizable real-life problems of developing world: corruption of the people in power. These aspects outweighed for me any minor and major issues I have found with this production.
2) Acting of the supporting cast. Two leads being grown-up characters. I liked the Doctor's character in the first half of the show then unfortunately he lost any depth of the personality, it felt like the actor had no substance to deliver.
What was not my cup of tea:
I failed to feel any sympathy towards the leading tutor-mobster character from the beginning. He developed more dimensions closer to the ending. I haven't watched any dramas with these two leads before. But given what I perceived as a lack of any tension and the spark between them it was clear they are an established onscreen partnership, who are quite ok with the usual fan service and closer to the end both the script and their acting looked like that. Their first time love scene was acted very sensual and genuine though.
I guess this is how this industry works and I only have to respect that established screen couples are cast, but... couldn't help but dreamt the doctor was romantically involved with someone more ethically suitable like a journalist or a policeman (then it could be followed with a new forensic investigative series!) I love happy ends, happy ends are everything, but... it didn't feel a good ending for me. I prefer the doctor to stay single than saying "yes" to the person who stages an armed kidnapping as his proposal. Sick. The doctor has no self-respect for accepting such a treatment.
The most unimpressive part was when the tutor-mobster chains his beloved man in a place in the middle of nowhere because... he cares for him? Ok, in real life, returning in 24 hours he would find him dehydrated, in a pool of his own urea and feces, and it's in the best case scenario. The worst case, the first guy never returns from his meeting with adversaries, the second guy most likely dies. That's love and care for you. Dear Scriptwriters, you have done a lot of amazing, incredible job with this series, please make next time a more coherent story for the characters we are looking forward to value/understand/fall in love with.
