The topic of judgement/justice, righteousness, dystopia and heavy religious theming is present in both, although Hellbound is bleaker in tone. You enjoyed the violent Juk Chang cult, media mindgame or charismatic morally-gray figure swaying the masses aspects this heavily features those. Both have powerful female characters. (If the supernatural thing puts you off- just imagine it's an allegory for mysterious plagues, beyond human understanding but scrutinised regardless)
- Both are a fantasy drama full of mystery & horror.
- Had monsters from hell wreak havoc on earth.
- If Hellbound has mysterious religious group which is The New Truth, in Island we have a group of people in white robe which their main purpose remained mysterious other than redirecting people doing evil things in their stead.
