Great story with a unique concept and interesting characters.
I really like the story concept: I am a sucker for apocalyspe series/movies and this series have a twist on that genre. The monster designs are absolutely insane and really creative. The characters are really good and have depth. I had a lot of sympathy for many of them. I love the main character and the development he has. I also really like the trope where the main character is half-human and half-monster. I think it is a really interesting plot-point.
There is a real high and good production on this series. There are some really good shots in this show. I really like the camerawork. I think the special effects are really good, but the do unfortunately lack a bit on the monsters. The monsters can sometimes look a bit fake. But other effects like blood look really good.
I LOVE the soundtrack for this series. Like the opening and ending is just amazing. Just the soundtrack in general is soooo good. To be honest I thought that Warriors by Imagine Dragons were a bit of an odd choice for a soundtrack, but I mean it did work pretty well. But I'm more impressed by the other soundtracks.
The series do falter from the Webtoon quite a lot. The characters are very different and have different personalities, and the story differ a bit aswell. That does not make the series bad though. I think you should view the series as a re-imagined version from the Webtoon.

Liked this drama
This is the first Yutong work I saw and I liked her because of this. Her character development after she became a mom was very realistic. The leads chemistry was also good. I have also always liked stories with babies or kids involved between the leads and their kid in this is so cute 🤗 He’s very witty and endearing after finding out about his dad.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Excellent storyline
This is a drama that I have rewatched multiple times! Great actors and great storyline! I love the drama! I hated her family on the first part especially her mom like girl she’s a kid who grew up with no one to love and guide her take it easy. Leo in this was excellent! I have always liked his work but this made me like him even more.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Incredibly endearing but with a massive mid-way lull
It looks like I hold the relatively unpopular opinion that the last two episodes featured some of the best writing of the entire series. More on that soon. What initially captured my attention for Twenty-Five Twenty-One was a) Kim Tae-Ri and b) the time period setting. The latter actually didn't seem to have much of an influence on the story as a whole but rather intervened in key moments at the beginning and the end. I think that's ok. And, of course, it goes without saying that Kim Tae-Ri put on a superb performance.
Nevertheless, it took me TWO YEARS to finish this drama. Yep. That's right. Essentially after the conflict between Na Hee-Do and Ko Yu-Rim was resolved, I felt like I was wading through molasses at the mid-way point of the series. I wasn't invested in any of the romantic plot lines and felt like at least half of the screen time between Hee-Do and Yi-Jin should've been slashed. I was desperate for more screen time between Hee-Do and her mum as well as Hee-Do and her daughter. In fact, it was the relationships between the women that meant that after a lottttt of dipping in and out, I was eventually motivated to finish watching the latter episodes.
Personally, I don't think this could've been a true coming-of-age narrative if those last two episodes had been any different. Putting aside the wish for more screen time between the characters mentioned above, what the last two episodes satisfied was the really annoying itch that had bugged me throughout all of Hee-Do's high school years. Yi-Jin felt like a teenage first love. And because he felt like someone trapped in that naive bubble, I struggled to invest myself into their relationship. But in the last two episodes, the two characters grew independently so quickly - while also growing apart from one another - that I rapidly became invested in that romantic storyline at the same time that I was crying over its poignantly inevitable demise.
At the end of the day, I believe the strength of the story actually comes from Hee-Do and Yu-Rim's relationship. Honestly, this is despite some hella bold choices from the drama's creators. Picking Hee-Do as the protagonist was risky. I think this could've been just as strong a story if it had been told from Yu-Rim's perspective (and I do think some of the class elements were fumbled a bit). But I think they made it work nonetheless. The other major risk was choosing fencing as the feature sport given it's relative lack of popularity and that it's - let's be real - super wanky. But, again, I think it ultimately worked.
In my opinion, Hee-Do and Yu-Rim's relationship should've been more central than the romantic one. I don't think it's a coincidence that I found the overall pacing slowed down when the pacing in the development of Hee-Do and Yu-Rim's relationship slowed down. Otherwise, maybe I could've squeezed out another star for this drama.

A bit disappointing but still enjoyable to watch
This season still manages to keep you curious and intrigued, but not as much as the first season. This season was completely fine, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't that great.A bit too much exposition in the beginning that were a bit too obvious. I get that they need to tell what happened between this season and the previous one, but the dialogues were a bit unnatural. I did really like the first episode tho. It was fun to see them chase the man with a suit and also build his character a bit more. The rock, paper, scissor game was very tense to watch.
Still, I think they could have shorten the first two episodes a bit. The introduction was a bit too long and took away time for characters to be developed inside the game.
I think the story with the cop and his crew was very lacking. Also the plottwist with the boat captain not being on their side is something I figured out in the first episode. Just a veeery obvious twist. So obvious that I can't even call it a twist. Also, why would they trust this random fisherman so much?? Like they have a whole crew and also so much money to spend on this search. Why not just hire a captain and have better boats? This whole side story made me annoyed and frustrated.
I also found it a bit annoying that the main character did not think about that there could be a mole in the game (like in the first season). I feel like that is something he would consider.
Something that I missed in this season with the games was the clever solutions to them. The last season the games were very suspenseful, but it was also fun to se how they would solve them and what clever ideas people had.
There were some interesting new characters this season, but unfortunately they did not have that much depth and emotional impact compared to the first season. I found myself not caring super much about them, except for maybe a few of them. One of my favorite new characters was Cho Hyeon Ju (No .120), but I also kinda wanted to know more about her. Still I found her character interesting.
Speaking of Cho Hyeon Ju, I think the show did a pretty good job at portraying a transgender character. (There have been a lot of opinions and debate about having a cis male actor for this role, which is another topic, but only focusing on the actual written character I thought the show did a pretty good job.) I have never seen a transgender character in a Korean media before so it was very nice to see that kind of representation especially for me that is a transperson myself. I liked that she actually got to be a character and also not just a stereotype for the show to ridicule. Maybe my bar for representation is really low, but I was happy to just see a transgender character exist in a show. One of the scenes that I liked the most was when Hyeon Ju was talking about how other transgender women in Thailand was so beautiful and then Kim Young-mi said that she already thinks that Hyeon Ju is beautiful :,)
This season overall lacked the pure dread and emotional impact of character death that the first season managed to capture. The first season had high stakes and made you fear which characters would survive. I did not have that feeling watching this season. I thought it was kinda obvious who would survive.
Overall I think the first season worked better because it had a lot more mystery to it. It made the viewer curious and wanted to know more. It also had a good balance in showing the survivors in the game, but also showing the cop discover behind the scenes stuff about how the games are being managed. This season doesn't have exactly the same balance. Sure we got to follow one of the soldiers, but it actually doesn't contribute that much. Like we already knew from the previous season about the corruption within the management of the games and how a secret organ harvest is happening. I would have liked to see more new stuff and discover more about the actual games and the facility.
I did like when they finally actually fought back. Like finally something new and interesting is happening! It made me curious about how things would progress, but that progression also kinda happend too late. This season mostly felt like a build-up towards the next season.
The production is very good, just like the first season. The soundtrack and actors are also great.
Overall, the first season was definitely better but I still enjoyed watching this and will be watching the next season as well.

one of the best BLs I’ve seen
I haven’t written a review before, but for this one, I have to. This show is a masterpiece. The two leads had so much chemistry and acted so well. The story was captivating, heart-wrenching, and left an impact on me. We were so lucky to get two episodes at the end!I’ve watched so many BLs but this one will be in my top 5. Couldn’t ask for anything better!!
I don’t give 10s out often and my stipulation is that it’s a show I will rewatch. This was an easy 10 and I can’t wait to see these two act in the future! Beautiful.

Honest opinion
It’s truly a high quality show and you can see everyone put so much effort into it. I think the story was just a tiny bit dragged, but the last episode had me on my knees and toes, it was too suspenseful, too dramatic and just too GOOD, I didn’t want it to end!! The main cp is only the two most gorgeous boys I’ve ever seen in my life. If you’re not a fan of slow burn tho, you won’t like itConsiderați utilă această recenzie?

SKINSHIP
All I can say is SKINSHIP and it was just toxic all around. FL was all over the place. All she had to do was say no and stand her ground but like always she submit to both guys. Finished this mini drama for the sake of writing this review to save you all the time you’d waste if you watch this mini drama. in the end every one had a character development but it doesn’t excuse all the toxicity that was flowing everywhere through out the show. Save yourself the hassle and don’t watch or do watch if you have free time on your hands! laugh out loud the drama was just a WHAT THE F*CK did I watch. just like the comments had said. Hmmmm FL make up???
Watched this for Liu XueYi but JJY just ruined it a little for me tbh. Finally after slowly watching, stopping and re-watching - I'm officially abandoning this one year later LOLThe story is very interesting and everything/everyone did very well, I just cannot look past the make up of the FL. I used to like JJY in Legend of Yunxi and the Ruyi Pavillion, she's not amazing at acting but not too bad. She looks so different here, yes pretty but what genre is she in ? Because it's definitely not the same time period as the rest of the cast.
Also the earlier Yang Cai Wei (Zheng He Hui Zi) was too good, JJY just could not live up to that unfortunately.

I can't... hope others can enjoy
I really dislike dropping dramas, but I simply got too bored to continue. (take my words with a grain of salt because this is my 3rd xianxia so I'm not experienced at all)Story
-at first, the balance of comedy, cheesyness, and seriousness was really good. Soon they dipped into plot hole territory with not enough romance (when this drama is literally focusing on their romance)
-I love this fl. She has common sense and is rational. Everything she did was understandable
-the ml couldn't stop stabbing people (joke) but at least he's nice and not toxic (can't believe I have to say that)
-I liked how the fl and ml communicated (mostly the fl initialized while the ml had to learn to do it)
-the beginning was good until the 2ml and fell in love with the fl, then it got annoying.
-other than than the ml, fl, and 2ml, the other characters felt shallow and useless. Wish we got more understanding of them
-Although the story (at first) moved fast to my liking, they added all these filler scenes which was annoying. Like, we're trying to find this dude's body parts, like shouldn't we be hurrying?
-by the early 20 episodes, the slowness really hit me. It just felt kind of stupid.
-the plot kept on being thrown off track. If you've ever studied writing books just a bit, you would learn that scenes and moments are used for the plot (character development must also push the plot), but here its kinda like they stuck the plot in the trunk and drove other places
Acting/Cast
-I loved Zhou Ye here. I watched her in Love me, Love my voice, and her personality here is so different (but she still loves to eat!) I felt like she really portrayed Yan Hui very well.
-Hou Ming Hao was what I expected. I watched him in A Girl like me, and he still only has 5 facial expressions. I feel like Zhou Ye deserved better...
-I didn't notice any chemistry. The fl had more chemistry with the 2ml than the ml. This was very disappointing because chemistry is what draws me back to a drama if the plot flops.
-the 2ml did very well
Music
-the soundtrack is gorgeous, like it's really good
Visuals
-the cgi was kinda tacky ngl
-the magic tho looked good
-but the clothes need mentioning. They were stunning
-the makeup also was very pretty
Overall, if you are patient and like the laughs, then watch!

Have you seen the adorable movie Overboard, with Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russell? At first it seems 💯DMP is winking at that film. Unfortunately, this Overboard gets shipwrecked in old Joseon.💯DMP starts strong with beautiful opening shots, a great concept and fantastic acting (Really! At times the king seems Shakespearean, until the awful dialogue & plot catch up to him). It's a fun set-up and there's hope for something meaningful to surface. The sets, filming, & costumes are VG or better. The many truly delightful aspects of the show don't manage to tip the scales into the positive zone, however; at least for this viewer. There's certainly much to 💘 about 💯DMP, there's just too much to dislike about it, too.
Watchers see this show start with a literal drought and then the ⛈⛈ comes. Tragically, in the end we learn that the show which began by figuratively raining fantastic elements on its audience later subjects viewers to a drought of artistry that extends until the credits have dissipated. The first tip-off is those cute but ill-placed 🐰 graphics at the end of every episode. Seriously? well, hmm… I suppose it's a comedy. But~ Wait… it really seems like a drama that has some scattered amusing moments. On the other hand, if it's serious, why the easter cartoons? I started getting thrown off by bunnies hopping in my head. Dang it all, I want to chill, not learn about susceptibilities I never knew I had!
The next marker on the path of irritation's forward creep is the dialogue. Transcribers~}> 💘 em. So thankful for what they do for us lesser 'mono-linguals'. One teensy request: Keep the casual, current-day slang out of the historical dramas. No viewer of Downton Abbey or a Joseon era 📽 wants to read how ‘he was hitting on her’ or ‘I've got the munchies’. What a mood-killer.
The show feels of struggling writers who exhausted viable plot points before ep10 so they whipped out old soap opera scripts. The various trails our protags ramble down are lined with "filler weeds". There's more than a whiff of: "We don't have enough "good stuff" to fill 16 episodes, so let's toss in a bunch of rotten carp & weeds. They'll likely digest it in silence, the lowborns." I've since read that many writers might be overworked past the exhaustion point. What they did to this show provides circumstantial evidence in support of that assertion. Kdrama fans know there's quite a few shows that are excellent and (with varying ratios) awful at the same time. I actually hope the situation is: 1st draft, now Tequila!🎉, and not that the writers are practically enslaved.
I was riding along with it, though. In the first couple episodes I thought: This is good - probably an 8. Then, “Ewww, don't understand that…” I was holding at 7 for a long while. Around episode 12 the freefall began; it was descending fast to a 6. Soon, it was: Uckitky, Yikes! Episodes 14-16 brought me to my final answer. The final twist of the sword is the way our duo finally pairs up. It's anti-climatic and, well, terribly boring.
💯DMP is a sham prince. He looks, acts & talks perfectly. In turning, he reveals his backside. It's naked. Nothing there. My Sassy Girl-8.5 (I know, odd title) is on Netflix. It does what this show failed to do. MSG is an engaging, campy Joseon era love story that is lighthearted at times, but at others is serious. It's ⚡exciting⚡, too, with a great storyline and court intrigues. Excellent directing and 🎭 make the trip back in time, as well. Joo Won is the male lead - He's✨fantastic. MSG was very popular in 🇰🇷; 2 years later, 💯DMP seems to be building off of MSG's success. Perhaps even better, Mr. Queen-9 is a Joseon romp. It's thoroughly outstanding and hilarious. My Only Love Song-8.7 is a silly comedy that I love to bits. Live Up To Your Name-7.6 features lighthearted time travel between modern day and Joeon. The King's Affection-8.3 is heavy and tense; it's a borderline masterpiece. ✔out the truly great Kdramas first. There are so many that you won't need to circle back to 💯DMP. Not for a million days.
There are SPOILERS after this wrap-up.

⛔SP☢ILERS BEL☢W⛔
Here are examples of treasonous acts that started to aggravate me; eventually I became alittle angry.
⛈They have the VP (Vice Premier) who is past middle age, surrounded by ninjas in the woods, yet he somehow kills them and survives?
⛈After the long search is over, the VP returning the CP (crown prince) to the capital, is silly and dangerous. The CP might recover his memories, so why take a chance? It makes more sense to allow Prince Seowan to become the CP and kill /him/ off before he produces an heir.
⛈Yi-Seo going off on her own to rescue her brother w/o consulting anyone else is ridiculous. She does it again when she sneaks into the VP's house.
⛈How could the CP allow the princess and Mu-yeon run off w/o giving them a better chance? No supplies, horses, protection, no kind of transportation at all for the pregnant women. Did he want them killed?
⛈Then the VP renders the CP impotent with the war?
⛈If CP knew Yi-Seo wasn't actually abducted, why did he let the VP go?
⛈Then, these two brilliant thinkers have a showdown: ‘Come to the fortress. Alone.’ ‘Hallooo, I'm here! Wait! Fool me twice…. You and your assassins won't kill me! This time, I brought archers!’
⛈Wait. Forget that.
⛈Let's just sword fight it out!
⛈Then I'll turn my back to you so they have to shoot you full of arrows. I no longer care about keeping you alive to face years of loss and shame. (This is the most clever thing they can come up with?)
⛈Then we are supposed to believe that the queen, who is the VP's pawn, is actually in a love match with the king?
⛈Yi-Seo refusing to marry the CP is the most awful thing of all. Did she just turn him down for *MSS?
*MSS. The most dreaded Mandatory Separation Syndrome. MSS is a weary, overused Kdrama device in which couples, once they get together, must immediately separate: 'I love you! Finally, we're together! Now I'll catch you later❕💨

Motherhood is complicated
Finished. I see a lot of mom haters, but I loved the mom. Motherhood doesn't come with an instructional manual. It's hard in the best of times and she went through 2 major traumatic events so I understood her anxiety. Every parent becomes overly anxious about anything. Sending them to school, letting someone else drive them around, hanging out with friends, etc. Because anything can happen and unfortunately everyday something terrible does happen to children. She definitely needed therapy, but let's be real. She was a poor single mom living in a village and poured everything into her son in hopes he could escape poverty and being worthless in the eyes of those in power. Probably no money for expensive therapy. Her growth from episode 1 to 14 was enjoyable to watch. As a mother, I related to her fears of losing him and drive to want to see her child do better. I understood her frustrations. As adults, we have the experience of what the world can do. We want to protect and prepare and push our children so they don't struggle. Often times, it comes out all wrong and we do damage, but like she said, it's our first time being a mom and no one on this planet does it perfectly.
That being said, I am not saying her abuse of him was valid. I GET why she was pushing him to move his hands and legs. She needed him to be able to live without her. She definitely went about it in all the wrong ways. The river/creek parts were hard to watch because who does that? And not only was he temporarily physically disabled, he reverted back to him being 7 years old. So she thought throwing her 7 year old minded disabled child into the river would motivate him to swim to shore. We then see her studying water therapy and it starts to work, but the intro to it was awful.
I loved all of the characters. Every single one of them. The twins were so adorable, the mask lady who was savage every time she was on screen, and the friendship of the mothers who also brought it more motherhood struggles. The mother of the kid who didn't do well in school and got into criminal trouble. It's hard to watch other children thriving (in your eyes) and then your kid is just lazy. That mother didn't see that Kang Ho was jealous of the freedom of other kids that got to play sports and goof off.
All in all, I enjoyed this so much. I didn't think I would, but this is truly a hidden gem.

Pleasantly surprised
I’ve been in a kdrama slump for so long and I’ve pretty much given up on them so I started with very little expectations. I cannot believe that they managed to make me be attached to every single character in the series.Saw that it got renewed for another season which is surprising aince the budget must’ve been so insane for this. Not only did they cast a bunch of known actors, there’s a lot CGI (though it can be a bit bad at times) and sets.
Anyways all the technical stuff aside, the story is definitely what I loved the most but there are some parts where I felt like they didn’t address enough though:
— The Lightning Hero (I’m bad with names) literally wrecked two buses (1 when he was chasing frank, another 1 when he went in the school to help bongseok) and violated a bunch of traffic laws, how is he still not fired or at least reprimanded from his job? I guess it happened off-screen but why did they not show it?
— What happened with Bang Kisoo? Why did the sub teacher have to do that to him? Will this be addressed later on or did they forget this plot (hopefully not)?
Things that I’m excited about and hopefully get addressed in the next season:
— The whole end credits scene.
** With the change of the head of NIS, I think Jaeman’s criminal history is not going to be erased and NIS would definitely be more brutal about how they handle things because there’s no way that guy will compromise and would accept if things doesn’t go his way, Mr. Min might’ve been a big POS but I bet that new head will be much worse.
** Frank still being alive. I had a hunch that he must’ve been alive but when I saw Gyongpo did not get his eye back and it’s very much possible to not get certain body parts back, I thought that it’s possible he’s actually dead but alas he is alive and maybe that mean his regenerative powers are much more powerful than Gyeongpo’s. He’ll probably be an ally at some point since when he killed more and more people (especially that hair salon lady), he felt guilty and more sympathetic to his victims.
** ABCDEF. Seeing that Frank was the last person to finish the test must mean that he probably was the weakest out of the bunch. So they’re probably probably going to be strong af and I’m hyped to see their powers.
— The rat investigator dying. I bet he investigated too close to the sun and find out something he shouldn’t have, the question is what did he find out that he has to be killed?
— Kim Dooshik. Obviously he had the clapper’s treatment in North Korea but I think they’ll get more in depth in later episodes.
— Timestopper student. I mean what? This is so OP. He apparently transferred, so is he still an agent in South Korea? Or were they recruited by North Korea (doubt since it seemed like they sent every single one to get the trainees in the South) or US? Or did no one know that this student had that power? I’m just imagining it ain’t no way they’ll be able to defeat this guy.
WHAT A SERIES. I am so excited and hopefully the next season will be good!!

Plot is a little weird but hear me out….
If you had to do a double take at this synopsis, don’t worry. You read it completely right: This plot is wack.Silly plot aside, there are some profoundly existential scenes and dialogues questioning the meaning of ‘being human’ and what constitutes an existence worth living. I started watching this series for the hell of it but one episode turned into two, and then four and five, and before I knew it, the entire series had come and gone.
The relationship between Junior and Sun develops organically and at its own pace over several episodes without rushing into anything. As they navigate the world in their human forms, their attraction towards each other is obvious but largely unspoken, paving the way for an innocent and sweet teenage relationship.
The editing of the series could have been a little tighter. Some parts of the story felt disjointed and there are many random plot holes in this quirky storyline. But its quirkiness is also what makes the storyline so memorable.
