A Love Like A Four-Leaf Clover

'Queen of Tears' is a drama that was meant for the deep feelers. The ones who can connect to people or even just the characters from watching. The ones who would easily 'cry' along with the characters or any scenes that could bring buckets of emotions to come forth. Hence, this drama casted a binding spell for such viewers.

The story started with a vague depiction about the 'true feelings' between Hae In and Hyun Woo. Leading us to a cold-hearted, workaholic, success-driven female lead and a pitiful, softie male lead trying to escape his so-called doomed fate in marriage at the beginning. Yet, as the story progressed towards the second half of the drama, we were able to navigate the long lost 'true feelings' between the two leads. Thus, their love towards each other best represents a 'four-leaf clover'. The symbolism behind it may mean a simple 'good luck', however, in terms of love interpretations here is my piece of thought:

The marriage between Hae In and Hyun Woo didn't solely start without 'love'. They genuinely loved each other since the very start despite knowing how they are from two completely different status in life, they didn't mind as long as they were together. However, with their marriage comes a price for their differences. Bounded together, their love alone was not enough to withstand the harsh waves that came crashing to them. Just like in reality, marriage itself is really more than love alone. Their love for each other was buried and forgotten as time grew, they forgot that at such times they were supposed to be against the odds and not with each other. Only after one big misfortune which befell upon them (Hae In's sickness) made them finally realized that they love each other. Like a four-leaf clover that is hard to find in a field of clovers. Their love for each other is as rare and hard to find. It took them too much before they were able to find it again and when they did, naturally, luck came on their side and the bond between them completely changed as they gained faith, respect, understanding and trust towards each other.

This drama teaches us some real life aspects about the marriage life. The storyline of course, has its own cliches and ironically, I cried throughout all episodes when the genre for this is supposed to be 'rom-com'. I think it is honestly more close to 'melodrama'. I truly appreciate every scene between Kim Jiwon and Kim Soohyun. They both have a beautiful chemistry together, despite the lack of kissing scenes, with just the way they solely stare at each other brings butterflies to my stomach. I've gotten to the point of shipping them in real life even. Also, I really love Hae In's aunt and Hyun Woo's entire family plus neighborhood friends, they brought comedy into this. Not to forget the love between Soo Cheol and Da Hye. I won't comment about the villains in this drama. Overall, this drama was worth all the tears I had cried and emotions each meaningful moment between both the leads had brought out. The storyline might not be very 'likeable' for some, but as a deep feeler, this drama heavily touched corners of my heart. It was a good watch and I enjoyed the spectacular acting performance of both the main leads. They ate this drama with their ability to portray raw emotions with their acting. I also appreciate the ending, it is so meaningful. Hoping to get another Kim-Kim/SooWon project in the future!
