I will sit through almost anything but I WILL NOT tolerate love stories that involve a foundation based upon abuse or lies. Sorry, Boys Over Flowers, your plot is rapey and frustrating.
I am stingy with my ratings and low ones (under 7 points) are given to shows where the plot leans heavily on the main leads being:
- a) Emotionally unavailable people demanding accommodating love from a wary, hesitant, or unwilling partner.
- b) Says the opposite of what he/he wants because pride. Constantly. Then gets mad at the other person for reacting negatively.
- c) Instead of breaking up, there is a huge monologue hurling unnecessary insults seemingly coming out of nowhere
- d) Girl is a strong, outgoing, independent lady who becomes a crying wreck/weak doormat because of love
- e) Cringey, repetitive, tired plot tropes with one dimensional conflicts
- f) No character growth whatsoever. Main leads often revert back to episode 1 problems/ flaws.
Top 5:
5. School 2015 - I have SLS with this. I would watch it until the last two episodes.
4.You From Another Star - pretty cute
3. Cheese in the Trap - would have been top 2 if it werent for last 2 episodes.
2. Shopping King Louis - just cute romance with no abuse or lies.
1. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo - same reason I like Shopping King Louis, but plot is way believable.
