I used to watch Godzilla movies and Kung Fu movies in my youth (complete with poor-quality English dubbing), and thought they were great. I also watched Power Rangers at a young age, completely unaware of it's Tokusatsu roots.
Being a major anime fan, I eventually became aware of Tokusatsu when I got older and tried to get into it with the original 1966 Ultraman series, but that was too dated for my tastes. I then watched the first episode of Toei's Spider-Man on YouTube in 2012 and thought it was awesome, but couldn't find any more episodes of it.
I suppose my first true foray into Tokusatsu was with Sukeban Deka in 2016, which is the first series I watched from beginning to end. Since then, I've started watching more tokusatsu and some classic Japanese dramas. I'm still pretty new to everything, and I'm much more well-versed with anime, but I'd like to watch a lot more Tokusatsu in the future as well.
