I watch mainly Chinese shows and prefer ones that are heavy on politics and/or history. My all-time favourites are 风起陇西 (The Wind Blows from Longxi) and 山河令 (Word of Honour).  Although it was some years back, I also loved Forest of Secrets (a.k.a. Stranger). For Western shows, I like Severance, Killing Eve, Succession, and Shadow and Bone.
