First off, the acting is amazing! Anyway, WHY R U’s plot starts off with a quirky twist about Zon and Zol that affects the entire series in subtle ways. The story is quite well written and despite the COVID-19 Pandemic kind of diluting some of the storylines, I generally feel as if the story is well written. The characters have a good amount of depth, I feel this way esp about Fighter. His characterization definitely reminds me of anyone out there that might be struggling with their sexuality/feelings for someone.
ZeeSaint generally gets more screen time however it seems like in the next ep (13) this might even out. However, ZeeSaint does in fact dominate the screen and I believe it is due to filming certain scenes later than others and getting caught up by covid-19. The thing is, I don’t have a problem with this. I also don’t mind that they share a lot of kiss/bed scenes. A lot of people seem to equate having less intimate/kiss scenes as being more “realistic” and following the plot, but I don’t necessarily agree. Some couples kiss a lot, some get intimate often and that is also realistic. Zee and Saint have good chemistry so it flows naturally, but if you don’t like kissing scenes ALMOST per episode, don’t watch or simply fast forward a bit.
I appreciate all the women in this drama. They’re all well written and honestly all beautiful too. Additionally, the production is amazing. Great camera work, great lighting, beautiful settings.
My only criticism is that sometimes it feels like the fluidity between couples is kinda choppy. Like it’ll go from one scene to another in a flash. You don’t necessarily feel lost but more like, hmm okay no transition. Additionally, some of the side couples are seen far less than the two main couples, but this does leave the possibility for a spin off or 2nd season, so we’ll see???
Also warning: the drama DOES contain some classic BL tropes that may be considered overused but I personally feel as if they are extremely well done. Once you understand Zon’s sister’s character and actions you kind of see why the common tropes happen?
