Both plot also has those victimized trying to seek revenge against the elite class. Lastly, both dramas are created by the same director and has Shin Sung Rok as a main character.

However, The Last Empress has more cute and comedic scenes and is a family oriented drama compared to Return which is more on the darker side and friendship oriented.
