selfless, pure love

I am a sucker for tragic stories and this drama is delivering just that.

I first went into this show knowing nothing but something along the lines of a romance between a teacher and a student. This was off-putting, but my sister urged me to give it a chance and I’m glad I did. It has been too long since I have watched a show that has really resonated with me.

The relationship between Ms. Ji and Seongyoo is beautiful. I’m not talking romantically, just in general, what Ms.Ji does for Seongyoo is just so heartwarming. They both see the world the same way and she can see that, she as a teacher wants to help him be more open to the world and what is has to offer. She is the first person Seongyoo truly opens up to, and in this she becomes his first love and honestly, it’s touching to watch. Ms. Ji does not coerce Seongyoo into falling in love with her. Their relationship in the beginning of the drama as a student and a mentor is truly so heartwarming. Ms.Ji helped Seongyoo out of the his darkest place, she helped him rediscover that and in the second half of the drama we begin to see Seongyoo do the same for her, now as a 20 year old man. I am rooting for Seongyoo and Ms.Ji.

The love that Seongyoo has for Ms. Ji is the purest and most beautiful form of love. He is not selfish, he is not in it for himself, he wants the best for her and to protect her. It is completely understandable why he fell in love with her.

Now that I have finished the show I can say that it doesn’t disappoint. The acting done by every character was phenomenal. Everything was done perfectly, all lose ends tie up in the end. The show ends very satisfyingly. This show was just so beautiful, it’s hard to come across a show this good, one that makes you feel something so deeply. It’s just truly beautiful.

Chu Wanning please come home, I am running out of shows to watch...

Watch this show to see Luo Yunxi in a suit... he looks so so very good and I would watch it just to see him looking that nice...

No but honestly...
I didn’t know I would like this show as much as I do. I watched it for Luo Yunxi and now I’m staying for it all. I’m very surprised by this show. It is so much better than your normal romance. Probably because it doesn’t solely focus on romance and focuses more on the characters and their motives
This show is very captivating and I never got bored. Every episode was interesting and I paid attention for every episode. The story flows very nicely and the drama is well-based.

Story: The story is simple. It is about the Light Chaser rescue team. All of the characters you see end up being related to the team somehow.

Characters:
- Luo Yunxi plays Luo Ben, a seemingly very cold, selfish and stern lawyer. You see character development as the story progresses and you get to see that he is actually a very compassionate and driven individual who puts others first in every situation.
- Janice Wu plays Zhan Yan, a very professional doctor who is also very cold. As the show progresses Zhan Yan starts smiling a whole lot more and you see that there is more to her than just her role as a doctor.
- All characters have motives for being there and wanting to be a part of the rescue team. The stunts are also very well done.
Ooh and there is actual character development in this show! Luo Yunxi's character learns and gets better! He isn’t one-dimensional! He becomes more caring instead of stone-cold. Zhan Yan learns to accept and grow from her past and opens up more. All of the characters become stronger in their own way

Romance is not the main focus, more character focused I would say. However, the romance that is in it feel very natural and is very heartwarming and realistic. You root for the characters to get together.
Chemistry:
- The side couple with Luo Ben's sister and Xiong Fei is really good too. They are cute and sweet and it is touching to see their relationship grow. Their relationship may be better than the main at parts. It is very touching and heartwarming.
- I will not talk about the third couple cuz IDK what is going on there. I don’t like them. I skipped every scene with just DingDingDing in it halfway through. Her character is very insufferable and annoying. She is childish and needs to not talk as much as she does. It is a wonder why MingMing likes her.

It is refreshing to see a couple like Luo Ben and Zhan Yan. Neither is overly obnoxious about their love for the other. Their romance is not in your face. It has been a long time since I have seen a drama where the FL is not annoying at first.
This is no comedy. It is the most realistic C-drama I have seen to date. This drama really shows that when you give Luo Yunxi when you give him a good costar, someone who can actually act you get something really nice, and enjoyable. In turn their relationship actually seems very real and not fake; the chemistry becomes better.

Acting: Luo Yunxi's acting abilities are actually utilized in this show; unlike some of the romcoms he’s in where every other actor besides him falls flat. Janice can keep up with Luo Yunxi's acting. They both are equally so good and play off of each other really well. Janice is really good. Their pairing makes sense, they look good together.

Editing/Music: The editing of the show is good; it flows well. The music is really good, especially the ending ost. The music is not obnoxious and is played at the right times.

Setting/Effects: The world-building for this show is very good. You see scenes in the city, the outdoors, the mountains, an apartment, a training camp, etc. The effects they use for the disasters are pretty good. Nothing looks overly fake here.

Additional Thoughts:
- Luo Yunxi is not a gigachad here compared to other shows like Love is Sweet and Lie to Love. His character is not bad and not insufferable. Glimpses of Chu Wanning kind of reign through and I really enjoy that.
- However, this is no hyx. Nothing will top hyx. Can’t wait to see the day when everyone’s efforts are shown. The pairing in hyx is perfect, the casting, the costumes, osts, setting, and chemistry. Nothing can top it. Luo Yunxi was born to play Chu Wanning and Chen Feiyu was born to play Mo Ran. Seeing them together in a show will be beautiful and innovative. Truly awe-inspiring.

(Last epsiode showcases Wanning… just watch, it is very good)
(If you are confused with any of what I am saying about hyx, chu winning etc. check out this link https://mydramalist.com/54501-hao-yi-xing
or check out my profile.. that should explain everything)

I am running out of lyx and cfy shows to watch that are actually good. Now that I am done with this show hyx better air real soon.

I am in Love with this drama

This drama really is the best cdrama I have seen besides the Untamed (nothing will top that haha). Everything about it is just so good. You have really pretty people on screen. The costumes are fantastic.

The build-up, the slow burn, everything just runs very smoothly. Nothing drags on. We already have some very iconic scenes in the drama and we aren’t even halfway done yet.

Casting/Characters: This is Yang Zi’s best role so far. I am so happy that she chose this role. With Xiaoluo/xiaoyao we finally get to see Yang Zi act to her full potential. In Ashes of Love and Immortal Samsara her roles start off with being some sort of diety, I think like a pea or fish or something, and she starts off pretty annoying. Her voice is all high-pitched and chipper, and acting wise, she acts very young, I am sure she is portaying a very young character, but whatever, what I am trying to say is that she played these very stereotypical, annoying female lead protagonists. The one that you see in just about every fantasy xianxia drama these days. Nothing new, and nothing spectacular. But here, she is a women in hiding as a man. She clearly went through some very traumatic events, and although we don’t know exactly why, this brings lots of depth to her character, and we see her react to certain situations in a specific way because of her past traumas. She gets put through the wringer time and time again and my gosh, can this women act. She is just so good. I love all of the MLs. I had never watched any show with them in it before and they all steal the show in their own way. They are all very different from each other and are not too tropey. Every character is likable, I like every ML so far. You have one who is perfect, one who is flawed, but has his reasons, the evil brooding bad boy, and the good2shoes royal family one. I just love it.

Story: The story seems to be pretty unique. It is centered around the FL and it is basically about her living in the world around her and meeting characters who change her world and how she reacts to that. That is what I will say so I don't spoil the show.

(spoilers) Episode 16 or 17 her past cousin finally finds out who she is. I love how we didn’t have to wait for the whole show for him to find out, and the way he finds out is perfect. It is different from what I would have expected. It is unpredictable, and I think what I like most about this show is how unpredictable it is. These days with dramas, since they are popped out just about every other week, the stories become bland and very predictable. And then when he finds out the whole section of the episode where he is going over every event they had been through and how poorly he treated her and her saving him and finally realizing, like yes, it had been a little obvious… its just so good. He goes to her and helps to heal her leg which he broke, the acting of this man, mmmmmmm it is perfect. Go watch the scene, he goes to the room, so blank and heals her leg, and the first thing he says is very soft, he asks if her legs hurt and looks at her in a way which you cannot deny, he found pout and that is when her reaction changes too, from brushing it off to knowing that he found out and oooo its good. Then when she finally admits to being his sister, when she thinks her mom came back. OMG is it good? It is too good, the voice acting, the performance, it is so heart-wrenching I just :((((((((. (end of spoilers)

Music: The music is so pretty in this show. They don't play music throughout the whole show which is very appreciated. The music helps to tell the story and set the mood, it really adds to the scene. The first ending song is my favorite. I seriously cried after the first episode when it started playing.

Update: I have watched around 20ish episodes now and the story only keeps getting better. You know a cdrama is good when you are questioning if all the 50ish episodes will tell the whole story or not. We see Xiaoyao as herself in her true form and how she adapts to the new world around her. I like how the drama doesn't change her character entirely, she still acts how she used too and has trouble living in the palace. The MLs are all starting to compete for her and it is a treat to watch. I love all of the MLs, I would not be mad if any of them got with her; they are all so swoonworthy. I used to have a favorite, but not anymore haha.

Last update: I love how many plot twists this show has. Seriously, the plot twists are very unpredictable and I really enjoy them; they make the show very entertaining. My pick for her for which ML she should be with kept changing. I love it! Can't wait for season 2!

HYX tomorrow plz

I wanted to like this drama. I came in with a very open mind. There is potential in this story, but it is missed. The script ruins the show. It is not horrible, it is just getting very boring and irritating.

Story: The story is focused on a girl, Zhu Yun, and a guy, Li Xun, who clearly have a rough history and both are computer programmers. It shows them and their past, and then how their relationship is in the future.

Characters: Li Xun, played by Chen Feiyu, is a stuck-up, very arrogant, programmer. Zhu Yun, played by Zhang Jingye, is also an aspiring programmer, she is headstrong and not afraid to stand up to Li Xun.

- and gosh is Li Xun so arrogant? Even in one of the later episodes (episode 18 I think), his cousin explains that he has been arrogant ever since he was a kid, which totally diminishes his whole backstory with his mom. And I hate how they try to justify Li Xun's awful attitude. The show slaps like 2 minutes of his backstory into an episode and calls it good. It is so cheap, just a cheap way to get us to sympathize with the guy. It is a shame because his character is so interesting. It would've made sense to go into his backstory more and give Li Xun more scenes of him being alone reminiscing about his past and thinking about his current actions, but there is none of that. Now that I think about it, none of the characters ever really have screen time alone to contemplate their life. These sorts of scenes are essential in getting the audience more engaged and empathetic towards the characters, but there is none of that. You just see the characters interact and get confused as to why they are acting the way they are acting. Seriously who in their right mind would be friends or even date Li Xun. His actions are irredeemable and not justifiable in the slightest. I love Chen Feiyu, but Li Xun is just the worst guy I have seen in a show in a while.

Chemistry: The chemistry between the FL and ML is okay. Some moments are cute. They clearly are comfortable around each other and it does not seem like they are being forced to act like they are in a relationship. At the beginning of the story when they hate each other it is believable.

When Li Xun and Zhu Yun get together there is a time jump right afterward which makes no sense. I mean, there is 36 episodes, they could have dedicated at least one to show their relationship right after they get together, but they chose to skip 5 years and show us them starting a company together which also makes no sense and you will find yourself not caring in the slightest because there is no payoff. There is no payoff for anything that happens in this drama. You never see the characters work hard towards their goal or struggle to get what they want. For example, Li Xun is amazing at programming, but you never see why, they just tell you why. Zhu Yun and Li Xun just get together without really any build-up. You could say that the build-up is what happens before their relationship, but honestly, she just started liking him one episode, kind of out of the blue. He didn't really do much or have any kind gesture for her to like him.

It is a mystery as to why Zhu Yun fell for Li Xun She saw him publicly humiliate her friend and colleagues on more than one occasion. He does not do much for her, only if it is for his own good. His teasing towards her is straight-up bullying. They share one cute moment at New Year and then the rest of it is just hard to watch honestly. His actions towards her are not cute. He barely talks to her when she asks him for help. He treats everyone around him like they are under him. Li Xun is seriously so narcissistic and then he has the audacity to call Zhu Yun narcissistic. This man is seriously so unaware it hurts. Zhu Yun is treated like Li Xun's little pet, what he does for her only benefits himself. He has not done one thing for her own good yet. And spoiler alert, there is no confession scene, because as you know, Li Xun will not talk, he hates talking, he just kisses her and then they skip like 5 years. You always hear Zhu Yun saying "oh I would do anything for Li Xun, I would die for him, blahblahblah" but you never hear Li Xun do or say anything like that.

"Lighter and Princess" really just misses the mark with the whole bad boy trope. This trope is done better in other shows. If you want to watch a show that shows a cold, arrogant, bad guy, but there is actual development, and the development is not cheap and you actually get to understand why the character acts the way they do then I suggest you go watch "Love Between Fairy and Devil", "Touch Your Heart", etc. In those shows, you actually get to see the "bad boys" develop and turn into nicer, more caring individuals due to love. You also get to see why they act the way they do in more than just 1/4 of an episode backstory, and their backstory actually ties in with the story and who they are, unlike in this show where you could honestly throw out Li Xun's backstory because it is handled so poorly and he was a jerk to begin with as a child anyways.

Script/Writing: The faults in this drama all go down to a cheap script. The pacing is off, and there seems to be a merry-go-round effect on the plot. Li Xun is treating everyone like sh*t, and Zhu Yun toys to get him to be a team player. He teases her. He does something "cute" and "nice" for her. and repeats it. There are many plot points that could be skipped, especially with the side characters. This drama really does not need to be 36 episodes. They could get the story done in probably about 12 if they were to focus on what is really important to the characters and the plot, but there seems to be a bunch of filler at this point. Much of what happens in the show does not make any sense if you really were to think about it. There is clearly potential with the source material and this show just fumbled the ball. It really shows you what not to do when you are handling a complex character like Li Xun. You should give your complex characters: a proper backstory, proper build-up to them changing as a character, proper character development, proper display of their relationships, likable qualities, more dialogue and screen time alone, plot lines that relate to the character, etc.

I sense a masterpiece...

The chemistry between JiHyun and JaeWon is so so so good! It starts right off the bat. In every scene they have had together thus far you can sense a feeling of yearning between the two; the tension between them is very much there. JaeWon and JiHyun have already had more scenes than I can count on my hand that made my heart flutter. Every look between them has a spark. The chemistry between them only grows more and more after each episode passes.

The cinematography is so so so pretty and only keeps getting better! The directing is very nice. Everything about the show flows smoothly thus far. It has a very cohesive feel to it. No comedic funny tracks playing, there are moments when there is no background music and I really appreciate it. This gives the show a sophisticated feel to it.

The story is pretty simple but very engaging. I want to see JiHyun and JaeWon's relationship blossom. The setting is nice. Both leads are so so so handsome. JiHyun is adorable and JaeWon is very handsome. They match each other so well. I love to see an introvert get their perfect love story.

I'm excited to watch them fall in love and be in love. I just want to watch more. I wish the whole show were out. Seriously, I would binge-watch this in one sitting if I had the chance. If this show keeps up what it has been doing it is going to be a masterpiece, more than a 10/10 for me. So far I see nothing at all wrong with this drama; it is as close to perfection as you can get.

The way each the leads act is not frustrating at all. The script is very good. Seriously, I have not seen a show portray mental health issues as good as this one. The topic is handled with care, and it is very realistic and hit home.

It is nice to come across a show as good as this one. Seriously, you never intend to come across dramas like these. For, I always try to hunt for them, but whenever I go out looking for a masterpiece of a show I am disappointed. Masterpieces just spring upon you... at least for me. Like I am hooked and a show hasn't done that for me in a while. I fear this show is going to be all I think about for a long while. Yeah, I will definitely be rewatching this in one sitting when it is all out.

I'll make sure to update this review as I continue to watch the show.

update:
What really touches my heart is the bond that they have. JiHyun is JaeWon's safe place; he is the most comfortable when he is around him. They both make each other so happy and feel the most at peace when with one another. Watching them grow closer and closer is the most heart-wrenching thing. I truly wish them both happiness. Another thing that makes this so great is that both of the leads are not one-dimensional. They both have great depth to them, especially JaeWon with his trauma. Watching JaeWon come to terms with his trauma and how the show describes the trauma that he has is just done so well. It is not offensive or over the top. I just love this so much. And the fact that JaeWon feels so safe around JiHyun just really gets to me. Like he found his person, they found each other at the time they both needed some comfort. I just... it is just... i love it so much.

Ending comments:
This show is truly a gem. The music, the environment, directing, cinematography, acting, just everything is more than perfect. My heart was going all sorts of crazy throughout the whole show.

Doesn’t reach me as much as the anime

Kimi Ni Todoke is one of my favorite anime. My favorite of the romance genre. It made me feel so many things when I watched it for the first time as a young teenager.

I wish that the live-action adaptation could spark some of the same feelings as the anime did, but it just isn’t hitting as the anime did. Maybe it is because I grew up and grew out of the genre, but the heartwarming feel isn’t as much there as compared to the anime. Don’t get me wrong, the live-action is good, it is still heartwarming, but just not to the extent as the anime. When comparing the two the live-action rushes things and it just doesn’t feel the same. The pacing is off, it feels really crammed and rushed, and much of the heart of the show seems to be lost in this. The only time I have felt something this far for the show is for nostalgia for the anime. That could change though. I am not done with the show yet.

The show really rushes to the part of Sawako becomes more confident. The anime took much more time with this and the payoff was much bigger in my opinion. Seeing her gradually realize that she is in love with Kazehaya and she doesn’t just really respect him was so heartwarming to watch and they skip over that part. Kazehaya doesn’t give me as many butterflies as he did in the anime. His smile is spot on though. I think the casting is great. He is just as perfect as he was in the anime, but with the anime, you will get to see him more.

The music is also a billion times better in the anime. I’m disappointed they didn’t use the openings from the anime in the live-action. They have no opening song and the ending song is just so-so here. Part of what made the anime so great is the music and soundtrack. For the live-action it is ok, it’s not too animated or comical and I like that. I just wish they would’ve incorporated some of the anime music with the show.

The cinematography is pretty good; nothing outstanding though. The cherry blossom scene at the beginning is nice.

If you loved the anime and want to watch this I say go for it. From Me To You is nostalgic, it is a pretty good adaptation. If you haven’t seen the anime go watch that for sure. It’s a shame because I just am going to compare this show with the anime. The anime is better than this show and makes this show seem weak in comparison. That is not to say this show is bad. I think it is okay, and a cute little watch. Perhaps if I had nothing to compare it to I would like the live action better. I am struggling to keep my attention on the show whenever I think about the anime. I think to myself, "Why don't you just go rewatch that." But, this show deserves to be given a chance. It is not horrible, they are trying to pay homage to the original source material of the manga. I heard the whole manga is crammed into 12 episodes and I want to see how they pull that off.

Hopefully, this show gets better as I continue to watch. This review is not done.
update:
I finished the show. It doesn't get much better or any worse. It is just pretty average. Honestly Chizu and Ryu as a couple shined a whole lot in the live action. I really enjoyed their romance, honestly a bit more than the main couple.

GIVE ME IMMORTALITY

I am having a really hard time finishing this show. This drama is way too long and does not need to be over 30 episodes long. The plot is very repetitive and most of the writing does not make sense. This drama starts off very strong, at first, I saw no problem with this show, I really liked it and it kept me very engaged. However, after about episode 10 or so the story just became the same. You could honestly go into this show and pretty much pick any episode to watch and you would not be missing much.

What really triggered me about this show was the build-up to the two leads getting together. Them getting together made no sense. She went from hating him in every episode because he teased her too much to all of a sudden liking him. Jiang Jun's attitude towards Yuan Shuai changed from being at odds with him to be in love with him in the span of about an episode. I was really excited to see how their relationship would develop and blossom into one where they were dating, but that just did not happen. The two leads are supposedly perfect for each other but don't really get along until they quite literally are told that fact. It does not make sense. This drama is very predictable and cheesy, which was fun at first, but now it is just boring.

As much as I love Luo Yunxi, I find it really hard to like his character Yuan Shuai. He is very toxic and teases Jiang Jun to the point where it is bullying. His reason for teasing her is out of some sort of protection, but even that does not make much sense. Bai Lu's character is confident and likable at the beginning of the show, but then she just gets annoying.

The relationship that they have does not work for me. I do not believe that they are perfectly compatible. They make these over-the-top expressions towards one another and it really does not work, it is not very cute. Both Bai Lu and Luo Yunxi are phenomenal actors and the script they are given in this drama is just not letting them express the full potential that they have. I have seen Luo Yunxi in "Ashes of Love" and I know how great he is at acting out tough, emotional scenes, but so far, this show really has none that actually means anything. Luo Yunxi's acting abilities far exceed what this show is giving him to work with, it is honestly very frustrating.

I would not be able to tell you much about the side romance between the guy who has a dating app and the girl who stalks him because after watching their plot for a couple of episodes I decided it was not worth it and skip every scene with just them two, it just is not worth it. Her character is very annoying, annoying to the point where it is forgettable and unbearable to watch, it's not realistic at all.

Finally, for the editing of this show, it is not the best, it seems very cheap. The music is all the same, they have like 3 or 4 songs that they use in every episode. The transitions are not good at times, this show will cut off right after someone finishes talking and oddly splice into the next scene. One minute you a scene will have a somber tone to it and then all of a sudden there is some happy song playing.

To be honest, the only reason I started watching this show in the first place was that "Immortality" did not come out last spring and I was very upset and wanted to watch more Luo Yunxi. I believe that Chu Wanning is the perfect role for Luo Yunxi. I cannot wait to see how he will portray Wanning... I know it will be better than perfect. He is the perfect Chu Wanning and no one can tell me otherwise. I cannot wait for that show to ruin me. HYX SPRING 2022???

UPDATE: I'm on episode 22 and was gonna see if I was overreacting with my review, I am not. He is touching her feet and it is not cute at all. It is the most cringe thing I have seen in a long time. I am actually mad, poor Mr. Luo Yunxi should be being pampered by his student, having meals cooked for him everyday, being nicely tucked in at night, being praised everyday and shown love everyday in a proper way, not rubbing some pouting chicks feet. I don't think I can finish this, the feet part was the last straw, I respect all of you who could finish this cuz dang.... this show.... it is just tooooooo cringe and I am officially mad. I am sooooooooo angry, this show is soooo aggravating and soooo predictable. It makes my blood boil idk idk. On a side note: Luo Yunxi is soooo handsome and elegant, even when he's playing a major chad of a character.

UPDATE #2:
Finished this show by fast-forwarding through everything I found to be annoying to the point that it made me gag.
Spoiler alert for the ending, it's one of the dumbest endings for a show I've ever seen. They end it in the cheapest, corniest way possible, I want to throw up. That was so painful.

bland/immature

What makes me upset about this drama is that it was commercialized as being a melo drama and it is so far from being that in the end. Melodramas are supposed to have a deep emotional impact and this show does not really have that. It plays its generic goofball soundtrack far too many times to be called a melo drama.

Story: There is so much you could do with the plot given so I am excited to see what they do with it. However, this drama has been kind of corny so far. I wish it were more emotional. They spend most of their time in the hospital, so the world does not seem fully fleshed out. I wish that the characters would get out of the hospital and explore the world beyond just Xiao Zhan's doctor's office. Yang Zi is a musician in the show, but so far we barely get to see her play or practice, it is disappointing. There is a lot you could do with the characters and their backgrounds. You could get very deep and emotional with the music and medical aspect of the show and I hope that the show uses that and delivers in that sense. So far, it has explored the emotions a bit, but the more emotional scenes have tended to be very short, which is upsetting because the acting in them is so good.

Directing: The camera angles are not the best. I personally am not a fan of the super up-close camera shots. The transitions are choppy and scenes get cut off in odd places at times.

Music: The main theme is very good. The other music sounds like it is royalty-free music off of Amazon. I prefer when they play no music in the backgrounds of scenes or keep the music at a down low. The music played in the club has been horrendous.

Characters: Xiao Zhan is really good, he is very handsome and will make your heart flutter in every scene he is in. Yang Zi's character is very cute, she is a bit of a goofball, but so far I do not dislike her.
Edit: Yang Zi's character is beginning to become very insufferable and sooo immature. No adult would act the way she is acting.
The only character I like is Dr. Gu. The thing I don't like about him is how he doesn't stand up for himself. If there is an issue he just blames himself and caves. He apologizes. He changes for her. I cannot see in reality how a guy like him would actually be okay with dating someone super immature, nosey, and cringe.

Acting: The actors have so much potential. The emotional scenes so far have been very brief; I wish that they would lengthen them and that those scenes would have more depth because the actors are so talented
Edit: Potential is not reached, the script is so bad.

So far the show seems a bit bland, but it is not too boring. After about episode 6 or 7 the plot becomes very cliche. I still want to keep watching it, nothing has made me upset to the point where I can't watch it. It is no 10/10 amazing, perfect show, but I think it is good for a casual watch. It is not the worst show I have seen, but I feel like it has lost potential thus far; hopefully, I will be proven wrong on this.

Edit: The script is so bad. Xiao Xiao is so unlikeable and immature. It is very unrealistic. In reality, Dr. Gu would not like her, like her character is just too much. The conflicts are boring and very bland. She creates a conflict and he has to solve it although he did nothing wrong. I am just so disappointed with these. People waited for years for this show to come out and this is what you get? A very mediocre romcom type drama? So much wasted potential, seriously. On 19 episodes now and they just keep getting worse and worse. Skip through the side characters plots, they are just as dumb as Xiao Xiao.

This review is not finished... this is all my opinion
update : very cringe , very awkward and embarrassing
final update: the last 2 episodes were ok, I would skip the junk in the middle cuz all it is is them having childish fights about miscommunications and what not, doesn't mean much to the story at all. Last 2 episodes they get married and it's cute, wedding is cute, stuff happens with the dad and Yang Zi gets to display her acting abilities a bit. Xiao Zhan not so much. Tbh its just very disappointing that you have two incredible actors, but give them the worst script. Wasted potential, :=

I am Luo Yunxi biased. Read my rant about him and how perfect he is in costume dramas

I really liked this one. It was my first xianxia, a fantasy drama. I am writing this off of the long-lasting memories this show left me from 2 years ago.

Story: Jinmi is a lowly little fairy who becomes entangled with the higher-up of the heavenly realm, the fire Phoenix, Xue Feng, and the night immortal, Run Yu.

Characters:
- Jinmi, played by Yang Zi is a bit annoying at the beginning, but it really isn’t her fault. She grows and becomes more mature.
- Xue Feng, played by Deng Lun, is kind of mean to start off with, but love really changed the guy. He just wants to love Jinmi. He will do anything to be with her. Let the man be happy for once.
- Run Yu, played by Luo Yunxi, a seemingly nice, perfect immortal, who turns out to be scheming and selfish.
I say that Yang Zi and Luo Yunxi really shined in this drama. Those two know how to act. Deng Lan fell a bit short for me. His acting was not the best, but I still bought into the story. I felt for the guy. The scene with Run Yu and Jinmi at the end is my favorite. I still think about it from time to time. Yang Zi and Luo Yunxi just are so good in that scene. It is bone-chilling.
- I skipped everything about the second couple. I found them, especially the girl, to be very annoying, and a waste of time.
- Other side characters, like the moon immortal were good comic relief.
- All of the villains are well done. I hate the mother, I hate the girl who simps over Xue Feng. I love to hate Run Yu.

Chemistry:
Xue Feng and Jinmi’s relationship is so tragic and good. Their love for each other was so so strong, strong enough to break the curse that Jinmi had in her heart. Some parts of their relationship even got me crying.
The mortal realm was the best part of their relationship; it is where Jinmi and Xue Feng really fell in love with each other. I cried my eyes out at the end of that. The whole concept of these fantasy characters going to the mortal realm seemed to be innovative to me. I had never seen it be done before (granted this was my second costume drama). Once you get to the mortal realm, the story just gets better and better. So tragic.

Editing/Setting: Pretty believable for me. The editing is not the best. Some of the CGI looks really cheap, but it gets the point across. I really enjoyed the fantasy world. The heavenly realm is beautiful. Where Jinmi lives with the other fairies is pretty too. Excited to see what the team who created this world has in store for Immortality.

Music: The Osts were so so good. Appropriate music is played at appropriate parts of the show. Especially the opening song. They played that song during the parts that were really emotional and now just by hearing the opening of it I tear up. I listen to the most to this day. It’s a shame Luo Yunxi didn’t sing an ost for this show because he has a great voice and I would’ve loved to hear a sad, tragic song sung by him.

Final Thoughts: I am a sucker for tragic stories. I am aware that this story is cliche, but I had never seen anything like it before. I had no idea that they could go to the mortal realm. I just thoroughly enjoined this story. I really did. It was really good, at least for me.

Now for my rant about Luo Yunxi...

Run Yu is amazing. You love to hate the guy. He carries the show a bit at parts when it is falling. I fell in love with Luo Yunxi because of his acting here. It is phenomenal.

Run Yu is a cheeseball from the start and I love it. He is manipulative and slimy. He used JinMi from the start. She is right, he never loved her, he only just loved himself and a higher position. Haha and the scene where he watched Jinmi and Xue Feng do the devil's tango, was so great, he really deserved that one. Run Yu was a gaslighting manipulator throughout this whole show. But I don’t hate him for it, you see why he acts the way he does. Man’s has got a tragic backstory. He really knows how to make emotional scenes just so good. Tears fall effortlessly from his eyes. He is a beautiful cryers. His scales were torn off. His mother died in his arms. His stepmom openly hated him to the point where his mom died. He never had a chance with Jinmi and he knew it; he was friend zoned since the beginning. His wontons were thrown in his face and he got spat at for it even though he died trying to save his disciples ungrateful a**…. Wrong story

- Scene, where the Moon Immortal is pretending to be Run Yu, is hilarious and cute.
- The wedding scene is so beautiful and tragic. I love it. Run Yu is so beautiful in that scene. Peak Chu Wanning (besides the torture bit at the end).
- Scene, where Run Yu’s mother dies, is Chu Wanning also. Gosh, Luo Yunxi is just so beautiful in costume dramas. He transcends the beauty standards that are on Earth. Even if this show were sh*t I would still watch it just because of Luo Yunxi wearing a pretty costume, with his hair all long and majestic and his mannerisms being like that of a graceful professional ballet dancer (which he was).
- Ahh and the ending!!! I love the fact that Run Yu willingly chose to put himself in that much torture in the end. He willingly chose to gasp and moan and tie himself up on his bed (we love the little gasps and moans). It is amazing. Very Chu Wanning of him. I go back and rewatch those scenes every so often just to get my Chu Wanning kick.
Every time Run Yu was on screen I became so engaged. Luo Yunxi is just so beautiful. That man is so ethereal. He cried, I cried. - - He laughed, I cried. He started yelling, I cried. He was shown on screen for a split second, I cried. He just looks that good.

I can see why Luo Yunxi got called in to be Chu Wanning after watching this show. I see Chu Wanning in him. He seriously was born to play the role. Have you seen that man with his hair down gasping and moaning for fresh air? Like… come on now! Makes sense why the casting team of Immortality didn’t even consider anyone but him. The man is the living breathing epitome of Chu Wanning. He is graceful and delicate, yet strong and stern.

I chose to watch this show after reading Dumb Husky and His White Cat Shizun because I wanted to watch a costume drama with Luo Yunxi in it to really get that Chu Wanning feeling. And wowwwwwwwww did it deliver. Obviously, Run Yu is no Chu Wanning, he is quite the opposite actually, but the look alone is just !!!!!

After writing this I think I might rewatch just to really take in Luo Yunxi looking all pretty, beautiful, handsome, attractive, fair, righteous, lovely, impressive, clean-cut, gorgeous, radiant, ethereal, wonderful, riveting, (all the words that describe someone looking good).

Zhang Linghe Heaven Official's Blessing!!!!!!!!!

I started watching this drama because of Zhang Linghe. I haven't seen a drama with him in it so far and had to because he is going to be Hua Cheng is the Heaven Official's Blessing live action that is going to be coming out in the very distant future. What made this drama even more appealing is that I saw he plays the second male lead in this drama and Mr. Luo Yunxi (aka Chu Wanning aka Immortality when) played the second male lead in one of my favorite Chinese dramas "Ashes of Love".

I have fallen in love with the story, the characters, just everything about this drama I love so far.
I was skeptical at first after hearing a few things about this drama; I was not expecting it to be so good.

Story:
pt 1: This is a xianxia drama and as far as I know about these types of dramas is that the tropes and the settings tend to be very similar to one another. Dramas have a hard time standing out and each can seem the same and that becomes bland. However, this drama really does stand out to me. The story is fairly easy to follow. I haven't been lost once watching it so far, which is a really good sign. It is as the title says "Love Between Fairy and Devil." I really love the concept of enemies to lovers and this drama really pulls it off nicely. It isn't a dumb coincidence that the characters have to be with each other all of the time. They are truly opposites of one another. Orchid is a beautiful fairy who lives up in some heaven scape; she is very innocent and has her head in the clouds 24/7, nonstop talking about her crush on the second male lead. On the other hand, Devil just got out of prison for 30,000 years. He is determined to reign over the world again and will do anything he can to get just that. It is told to us pretty early on that Orchid is the goddess who saves the Devil; they are intertwined with one another. He doesn't want to put up with her shenanigans, but has to otherwise his plans will be crushed. Devil has to look out for Orchid and protect her because if she dies he will literally die. I love the fact that we are going to get to see them fall in love!

pt 2: Things play out like most fantasy dramas do. They eventually end up going to the mortal realm, but that arc doesn't drag along like most do. They fall in love gradually, it is quite a slow burn, but so worth it. The climax of the show really hits hard because of this. It is tragic. They're love is tragic. Orchid sums is up perfectly. In short, she loves him, but will she give up her loyalty to the fairy realm and love for her people to love him? Devil loves her, but is he willing to let all of his hard work go to waste (ex: killing his dad and a couple of realms along the way). They love eachother, but to what extent... and seeing how much they love eachother is truly something... I was surprised to see who ended up sacrificing what at the climax of the show.

Acting:
pt 1: Ester Yu plays an innocent fairy called Orchid. She starts off as a clutz and very air-headed. Dylan Wang is the male lead who I will call Devil to keep things simple. He starts off as very cold and serious. Their chemistry is very good. They play very well off of each other and have great comedic moments between them. The bickering and teasing that goes on between them is enjoyable to see. It is especially fun to watch the moments where they switch into each other's bodies (seriously one of the best things about this drama is when they switch bodies, makes my heart skip a beat just thinking about it, sooo cute). However, the more sentimental grounded moments that they portray have been very touching too. They have moments together that have me tearing up. You empathize with both of the leads and learn why they act and feel the way they do. Also, this drama is aware of the character's flaws. The devil calls Orchid out for being an annoying idiot and Orchid calls him out for being heartless and coldblooded. I really appreciate this because I have seen too many dramas that are not aware and it just gets soo aggravating and makes some dramas unwatchable.

pt 2: The whole cast really surprised me with this one! First I'll talk about Zhang Linghe. His character is at its peak when they go to the mortal role. Seeing him play the playboy of the town and goof around is so much fun. He has great chemistry with Dylan and honestly, that whole arc was so much fun to watch. I have heard that in previous dramas they're acting is just decent, but in this show it is superb. It is so good! Dylan Wang portrays his character so well in this show. Devil is such a complex character and Dylan does such an amazing job at truly showing the complicated emotions that he feels. Esther Yu's acting really surprised me. She is such a beautiful crier. Every time she teared up, I couldn't help but do the same. The chemistry that they have with each other only gets better as the show goes on. The scenes that really hit hard leave such a big impact on you...
Lastly, not to spoil, but what I'm guessing is the climax of the show is acted out so well. Had me balling my eyes out and rewatching a couple of times.

Cast:
Ester Yu is perfect for her character. So many people found her voice to be annoying and babyish, but I think it suits her character. Plus her voice is only really like that at the beginning of the show and as she grows you can hear it in her voice that she matures. She really pulls off the innocent types and does a great job at playing the ruthless devil once they switch bodies. Dylan Wang is great as the devil. The facial expressions he makes and the way he carries himself as a ruthless overlord is so good. This man looks so good in a costume drama. He is shockingly good-looking and has strikingly good facial features. I love watching him when they switch bodies; watching him act all cute really is a treat, and it slept on. Zhang Linghe who plays the second male lead plays his role so well. The emotions this man shows because he loves Orchid, but can't have her are so authentic. I really believe that he loves her too and honestly it really gets to me that they both loved each other at the same time, but it won't work out. The second male lead syndrome in this drama is real. All in all, big round of applause to the cast so far, they are a huge reason as to why this show is so enjoyable so far, the chemistry is great amongst them all.

Setting:
It just looks so great. Everything in this drama looks so good. The costumes are really pretty and yes, I even think the second male leads costume is good. The set design and makeup are 10/10 so far. And lastly, the setting is so beautiful. I would watch this drama for the beautiful scenery alone. The CGI is the best I've seen in any period/costume/fantasy Chinese drama so far. I am seriously blown away by how good everything looks. The sky, especially at Orchid's home, is a prize to look at. You can tell great detail went into the backgrounds. It isn't obvious the green screens are being used, nothing like that stands out. The people behind the scenes did an amazing job creating a fantasy world that actually looks believable.

Music: The music used helps tell the story being told. Certain songs are played at the right time. I wouldn't say any of the main osts are bad, actually, I wish that some were on Spotify so I could add them to my sad playlist.

In conclusion:
pt 1: What I love the most about this so far is how fun it is. Yeah, this show probably isn't perfect but lemme just say I laugh out loud at the outlandish moments and over-the-top scenarios and actions that occur. This drama is aware of how bizarre it can be at the time and it plays it up at times. On the contrast, there is also time for deeper moments. Nearing the second half of the show I can see that it is going to switch from less of a comedy and more to an emotional, plot-driven show. Characters are self-aware of their own flaws. Everyone in this drama is beautiful. They all look too good to be real. The setting is amazing, the script is funny, and the chemistry among the leads is adorable and hilarious. The touching moments really hit hard. The costumes, hair and makeup compliment the actors. The osts need to be released on streaming platforms (especially the one played during their underwater kiss/ air transfer moment!!!!). Orchid is adorable. Devil is also adorably handsome.

pt 2: This drama only gets more beautiful in the second half. The osts get better. The story progresses very fluently. Everything just makes sense. I never once got bored watching this drama, which says a lot, trust me. Seeing them fall in love was such a treat. It happened so naturally. You really root for them as a couple. They are hilariously cute at times, but then at others, they love each other to the point where they would die for each other.
Chu Wanning is no where to be found....

Lastly:
No, this drama does not quench my thirst for Immortality. Nothing will. Seeing Chu Wanning on screen in pain and agony is something that you just can't replace or even try to with these other dramas. Everything reminds me of him. I started watching this drama because Immortality seems to not be airing any time soon Zhang Linghe is in this drama and he reminds me of Chu Wanning because he plays a character that is in Eternal Faith. It all is just one big giant circle that is inescapable. Whatever you do, do not get into Immortality. I am not kidding you when I say I think about this show every day and it has shaped me as a person. That is crazy because the show has not even come out yet and has shown no sign of doing so in 2 and a half years. To those who are reading this IMMORTALITY TOMORROW!!!!!!
that is all I am going to say for now....

forgettable

This was a bad movie . The story was super bland, the characters were not likable. The only redeeming quality about this movie is Mr. Chen Feiyu. That man is an angel and deserves more than this movie gave him.

Story: Never once during this movie was I anticipating what would happen next in this movie. There was no story at all. The plot was very very bland. This movie supposedly tells of a high school romance and what happens 10 years later but there really is not much to tell. I can barely remember a thing that happened in this movie it was so boring.

Characters: The main character Geng Geng was super annoying, I did not like her one but. She just yelled a lot and would heavily breath afterwards for an absurd amount of time. Her friends were forgettable as well, every character peaked in high school no character had any development whatsoever. Yu Hai was just there, I can’t remember him doing much either. None of the characters did much of anything. Chen Feiyu played that role though and he looked really handsome during the time jump.
The chemistry was not there at all, this is because the script and the plot was so lacking. I was rooting for them to not end up together.

The would not recommend this movie to anyone. Only those who are fans of any of the actors present maybe I would recommend it to. For me I watched this for Chen Feiyu and I was not disappointed in him, I was disappointed in the story and script he was given to work with, he did the best with what he was given but he deserves so much better. Hopefully Immortality will get to air soon so we can see him in a role that deserves him and one that he is passionate for.

let's admit toxicity and stop trying to defend and romanticize it

(DISCLAIMER: I am not trying to offend anyone with this review. I wrote it for myself as a rant and to look back on.)

I have tried to like this show. I really have. But I cannot dismiss the cheap storyline, plot holes, and aggravating characters. This is a show that tells the story by the characters telling us what happened, rather than showing us, which is very frustrating. I am a bit insulted by how dumb this show thinks its watchers are. However, this is not a boring show, it is actually quite entertaining, even with all of the bad it has.

Characters: I do not like any of the characters. They are all dumb beyond my belief. The show gives 90% of its screen time to Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu and throws in a few other characters who are also supposed to lead but are not really. There is a second ML, but he wasn’t in it as much as I thought he should’ve been; however, I really liked the second male lead. He looks sooooo good in costume, mans was also beautiful, right up there with Luo Yunxi. Not sure what was going on with his character, but he seriously looked perfect in this drama. I’ll have to watch a show where he is the main lead. This gives a sense of a lack of character and shows a feeling of emptiness. Another thing to add: I have tried to get over how nonsensical this drama is while watching it, but everything just screams unrealistic. Like I get this is a fantasy drama, but at least the characters could act somewhat relatable and human. All the characters in this show act in a way that seems predetermined for them, like a video game plot or something, and I'm not talking about the acting itself.

Acting: It’s good I would say. Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu are both very good at acting. It is nice to watch a show where neither of the leads over shadow one another with their acting abilities. I can’t say much about the other characters acting, because they barely get any screen time. In general, I would say that the acting is pretty good, it's above average for a C-drama and it is a shame that they were directed to act in such a nonsensical way.

Costuming/Set/Effects/Makeup: You can tell this show is expensive. However, I think that the money should’ve been spent a little more wisely. The budget is all in the CGI. The amount of CGI and special effects being used is very overkill. None of the sets look like they could be a real place, it all looks too perfect and plastic. The costumes are very pretty, but the makeup is awful. Every character looks pasty in the lighting and the eyeshadow, especially on Luo Yunxi, is not very flattering (they made my beautiful man look like a panda). Also, you get to see Luo Yunxi in a stay-at-home wife outfit at the beginning of the show. He looks eerily similar to Chu Wanning, it is distracting, but in the best way possible. Bai Lu looks stunning in every costume she is in. However, this show relies too much an CG for its fight scenes. You have a whole classically trained ballet dancer and you are gonna cover up his beautiful, graceful fighting with CG and opt for heavily editing CG onto all of the fight scenes???? Wasted potential there.
The makeup was so bad for every character. The foundation is so pasty on everyone. And why are we putting eyeshadow all
around their whole eye? Luo Yunxi is a beautiful man and the overkill makeup does him dirty, like he’s still so handsome, but I just understand why they had to style his character with makeup so panda looking. Also, when he is an immortal I wish that his hair strands would’ve been tucked in. Why pull out his hair at the end of his sideburns, if you are gonna pull some hair out at least do it near the top of his head. I would say my favorite look for Luo Yunxi would have to be his Devil god look; the makeup and especially the costume and hair looks really good on him. He looks regal and expensive and straight up like a Devil god haha. Don’t even get me started about TTJ’s housewife outfit. The costume department is the same as it was for hyx, so they definitely knew what they were doing when they styled him like a whole Imperial Consort Chu.

Music: So far, the music is alright. A good thing is music is not overplayed. The sound isn’t too loud and the osts are not played too much. Lots of shows tend to play music too loud and all throughout every scene, but it is not noticeable here.

Story (SPOILERS):
Let’s start with TTJ played by Luo Yunxi. He is an evil guy and the explanation we get as to why he is so evil is because he was just born this way. He is evil because he was born that way, not because of any other outside forces. Other shows and stories have given depth to their evil leads when they want us to sympathize with him, but here we are supposed to sympathize with his actions because of a cheap backstory and because the FL does. We do not really get to see what leads him to being a tyrant. Here are some shows that have done the whole evil lead trope better: The Untamed, Love Between Fairy and Devil. TTJ is the most pitiful man I have watched on screen. I am enjoying every bit of it.

I cannot get over how the FL (Bai Lu) is sympathizing with someone who committed mass genocide and killed her family in front of her eyes. The characters are the dumbest set of people I have ever watched in a drama. How could she ever sympathize with him? He is so awful and honestly a pathetic character. He is a jerk and says and does the foulest things just because of an evil bone or something like that. And then the show goes, ‘oh! She is keeping him alive because of that evil bone and she has to destroy that before destroying him!’ Like how dumb does this show think we are?? To believe that even if there is a tiny little factor like that stopping her from killing him that she would just not kill him and start to fall for him?? Excuse me, but no. She should be pissed off to the point where she kills him right off the bat! Are you kidding me??

The jumps from lifetime to lifetime make no sense. In one episode you are with TanTaiJin and then all of a sudden, out of the blue we are in a dragon’s dream of them as immortals, but they don’t remember anything. It is a brand new show with brand new characters, there is no mention of the other life and it just makes no sense. Why is it important to the plot?? The importance is so insignificant. I think it has something to do with ‘life and death’ or something like that.. idk, it is dumb. Sang Jui (Bai Lu of that timeline) already is in love with Ming Ye (Luo Yunxi of that timeline). He obviously does not know her or love her back. She pines for him because he is the big strong ML. We get to see them fall in love in the span of an episode; personally, I wish they showed more scenes of them falling in love. What I took from it is that Ming Ye fell in love with Sang Jui because she gave him fruits and kept pestering him, outside of that, nothing makes her special. It is just cheap, when you think about it, why out of the thousands of years that Ming Ye has lived, would he fall in love with her over fruit???? There is no way that no one else has pestered him in the thousands of years that he has lived. Their love just is not very touching.

After the heavenly realm the show then goes back to reality. The characters seemingly have nothing to do with the heavenly realm characters. They just look alike, but I am sure they are tied together somehow. Anyways, what I want to say about this portion of the show is just that it does not make much sense. TanTai Jin grows stronger and stronger immensely fast, it is a bit out of nowhere. He is the ruler of everyone pretty much, or almost. Everyone knows who he is and is scared of him and calls him a monster. Around episode 22 the FL (I forgot her name) and TTJ fight cuz he killed a bunch of people. The people he killed were quite awful so I am not mad at him for that. He did however really scare her a bit, going a bit crazy when they fought, he had his reasons though. I just don't like how 20 minutes later she forgives him. They have a 'tender moment'. This would all be okay if the she didn't have her mission. It seems like the FL has completely forgotten about TTJ mass murdering her family and entire clans and she has forgotten about the whole reason she was taken back in time in the first place. She now holds no anger towards him at all, she doesn't bring up her mission, it just is a big headache. How could she forget??? Especially when he keeps growing more into the TTJ that killed her family, the tyrant of the entire universe? It just doesn't make any sense. Now they are strolling on a date, going out on the town. What happened to his evil bone??? That's like one of the biggest plot lines of the show, but it has been forgotten? We couldn't go 5 minutes without hearing about the evil bone earlier on in the drama and now it just vanished??

Also the trope of 'tied together for lifetimes' is done so poorly. Like I get that it's their past selves maybe?? or they are connected with these characters cuz they look the same? But the facts are those dream characters are different people than the originals we followed. They have different thoughts, feelings, values, ideals, and the switch from the dream to reality or whatever and back is just so confusing honestly. I can see what the story is truing to do with the whole 'tied together for lifetimes' type of thing, but doing this with the characters is just so so so so cheap. There is no payoff. HYX did it right, the characters from each lifetime all tied together, they shared thoughts and memories and feelings, it just was done so much better and TTEOM is just a worse than knock-off version of stories that actually can pull this off.

Ep 14 is what drew the line between a show that I can watch even though it is kinda dumb, to a show that I am now going to hate watch. Basically Sang Jui drugs Ming Ye and coerces him into having sex with her, he then gaslights himself into thinking it is ok. Straight up disgusting, didn’t think this show could get any lower. She says she does it to get back at him?? Get back at him for what?? They both had a huge misunderstanding because they didn’t talk to one another, but he didn’t do anything wrong honestly. Nothing he could’ve done should’ve incited that. I don’t care if they love each other, she drugged him and coerced him, and it was so out of character. Makes no sense, it’s awful. They romanticize this NC scene between the two of them it is so so hard to watch. Literally, I was on the verge of tears, not out of how pretty or how much they love each other. There was no love in that scene, it was not pretty, it was disgusting and foul and the fact that the show is trying to portray that scene as something romantic and not something that is wrong is absolutely aggravating. Some are trying to say that he was into it, but man’s was drunk out of his kind and drugged on top of that! I don’t care if they are in love, you don’t do anything of the sort with someone who is not in their right mind!

Highlights from the show:
So far, the best scene for me has been the one where TTJ was betrayed by his caretaker and he just bears it all to everyone. He monologues for like 30 minutes and gaslights everyone on the boat and then tortures himself in front of all of them. It was quite entertaining. I also really enjoyed all of the scenes with TTJ at SuSu’s residence, particularly the scene where the man is washing dishes.

Casting: I really am not mad at the cast; the leads were really good acting wise. It’s just that the script and story was so so cheap and confusing. Like they went through so many lifetimes just for all of Susu’s hard work to have failed in the end if you know what I mean. This show could be cut in half if Susu would’ve just told TTJ that she needed his evil bone after he became a simp for her. I think the show should’ve ended like around episode 35 or something when they had their moment in the garden and all was good, like they cleared up their misunderstandings and actually talked. Seriously the last few episodes are just full of flashbacks.

Last Remark:
Honestly, this show has p*ssed me off ever since it was announced to be made. I have nothing against the cast, but everything against the production company. Y*uku has used Immortality to market off this show since the beginning. They aren’t even trying to hide the fact! Almost the whole team behind hyx worked on this show, from the CGI and costuming department to the actors themselves. The story is also a bit similar to hyx. I wouldn’t have a problem with this, if the story itself weren’t so insulting. They put Luo Yunxi in this and made him the ‘Taxiun-Jun’ of this story. They also have bought hashtags out for Luo Yunxi with something relating to him being a mainstream actor and leading in a BL role. Why would they do that when BL is currently at a not so great state in the C-ent right now?! That just seems so scummy to me. This show is just so so so cheap. It just rubs me the wrong way. I will finish this show out of hate and spite. The only reason I am watching this is because I love Luo Yunxi and lots of that love comes from him being Chu Wanning in Immortality. I had no idea he would play the anti-Wanning here.

Final part: 500 years later
Li Susu and TTJ are back as immortals. The last ten episodes are honestly so confusing plot wise; much of it made no sense to me. I found myself getting very bored quickly and just skipped to every scene with Luo Yunxi in it. The last 10 episodes are really just everyone trying to figure out if TTJ is a bad guy and has the evil bone; it’s literally Susu is happy with TTJ and they are fine and then she gets mad and then she is happy and everything is cleared up, but then he does something to upset her again, it cycles quite a bit.

Tbh I started this show for lyx and finished it for him; I ended up liking his character the most. TTJ was a pretty and pitiful man. Luo Yunxi really ate up every scene where TTJ was having a manic episode or straight up being pyschotic. I was thoroughly entertained with his performance throughout.

Rant about the final episode: Lastly I have to say that the final episode really reminded me of the last episode for Darling in the Franx, you have giant celestial beings in the sky, the leads are floating off into the heavens, they transform outlooks times, the world is about it end, none of it makes any sense and you are just staring at your screen confused with how you got to this point.
The ending is just a whole mess. It’s the type of ensign that pisses me off. You’re really telling me that he killed all of the immortals in the beginning of the show, and the whole show is SuSu going back in time to get TTJ’s evil to prevent him from killing all of the immortals 500 years later, but in the end, the very last episode, he kills all of the immortals???? He kills every single one but her so she can kill him???? And this is so that there will never be an Devil god again??? It makes no sense. How is killing everyone in the immortal realm better than having a Devil god who honestly doesn’t pose much a threat. Like honestly if he would’ve just stayed the Devil god at end of the show with the pure heath that he had or whatever then no one else would’ve died. Like he could’ve just not killed everyone. And then when there is a new Devil god it’s not like they would kill every single person. What’s so bad about the evil bone passing from god to god? It sounds better than a whole mass murder of all of the immortals. Maybe I’m wrong and I just got so confused, but the ending is super confusing so me thinking he killed everyone is valid. Seriously, I’m a bit offended with the last episode. Why’d TTJ have to cause all of that chaos and misunderstanding if he was just gonna die in the end? I’m so confused. What is the ending of this show. My eyes hurt. I watched an hour of straight CGI and special effects. So TTJ sacrifices himself and stays up in the clouds or whatever. And it ends and he’s up there t-posing in rainbow land, while she is down with a kid who is theirs. Is he up there so that the evil bone won’t go to a new devil god? Is he even alive? What was that ending.

As much as I disliked about this show, it was fun to hate watch. It was so fun to watch up until the last 10 episodes where I lost interest.

NOW GIVE ME HYX SO I CAN SEE CHU WANNING!!!!!! After watching this show I am so so so sure that Luo Yunxi was born to play Chu Wanning. He played a character quite opposite of that of Wanning here, but we got a few glimpses of what Wanning could be like once it airs.

yet another show to release before Wanning comes home :(

I have been waiting for Immortality for eons now, this is yet another show that was filmed wayyyy after hyx and got to be aired before it.

This is not that bad, but it isn't that great either. The story/plot is very bland and boring. It's the same set up as a bunch of other shows. It's supposed to be a medical drama. It kind of is, I mean they talk medical stuff, but none of it seems right. They can't show the surgery really. The surgery scenes are not realistic in the slightest, all they really show is the characters hands all bloody. The surgery's also happen the same day as they talk about it which makes no sense. Not much of this show makes sense, but if you look past that I mean... you have Luo Yunxi and that man is beautiful. He's too good for this show, but I digress, it's all we have until hyx releases. piste

Relationship dynamic is just just copy and paste. They hate eachother at first, guy falls for girl, girl kind of falls for guy and then plays hard to get and runs away, guy gets upset and heavily pursues her, girl won't give in for longggg time, blah blah. It's upsetting, because once they finally get together it's pretty cute. I really enjoy their moments together once they are a couple; sadly, we don't get to see much of it though because it takes a while for them to finally officially get together.

Acting-wise is okay. Luo Yunxi is amazing as always, putting in his best effort and far exeeding in delivery. The FL Su, is just okay. She isn't unbearable to watch, she just doesn't have much range. Her facial expressions remain the same pretty much throughout the whole show, with a constant grimace on her face because she is running away from her feelings towards the ML.

I like the side characters. FL's best friend is honestly more likable than the FL herself and ML's side kick is decent too. They have a cute romance I guess.

The scenes in Lacaya are kind of low budget. The dubbing over in French isn't too good, some of the plots that go on make no sense. The one I can't get over is in the fist episode I think where the FL "saves" some guy after he gets in a car accident. It's pretty wild. So she sees this car accident, rushes over to help the person in the accident, but doesn't say anything to anyone about what she's doing. They just assume she is some doctor and then she brings over a drill to drill a whole in the guys head, while still not saying anything. Obviously, everyone is freaking out, but she just drills away and the guy seems dead. The police come and arrest her and she finally says like "oh! I was saving him!", but like what??? I get she was saving him, but still, it's dumb. She gets put in jail and then bribes the officers so she can make a call and gets the surgeon working on the guy to come to vouch for her. Obviously, the surgeon is the ML and he does vouch for her. It isn't brought to court or anything, nothing about the law is really brought up and this all happens within the span of a day which is crazy. Then she wines about having to pay a fine and somehow gets it reduced. It's wayyy crazier than how I'm describing it. Honestly, I recommend watching the episode, cuz gee is it entertaining. It makes zero sense and you lose braincells watching, but wow. There's more crazy things too honestly. The script is pretty bad, but bad in a way where you are entertained, not too boring.

In all honestly, I am only watching this for Luo Yunxi. If you are a fan of him, you will enjoy this show. He's in it a lot, and yes, he plays the same character he has played in every modern drama he has ever been in, and yes, it is a waste of his potential and acting skills, but he is so fun to watch. He plays a pitiful "chad" like man who simps very hard for the FL. He is just great in this. He looks so beautiful too, the styling department did a good job on this one. 8/10 and all of that goes to lyx. Love him <3.

Last remarks:
Finishing this show, I just feel it is a bit empty. The plot is interesting and I just feel like the show went about everything in the most boring way. I only watched for Luo Yunxi haha.

light easy not-so-sporty "sports" drama

I really wish this show would've focused more on the sports aspect. You can't really call this one a true sports drama; yes, there is a sports focus, but most of the sports in it are training and talk about rosters and more training. There were maybe 2 actual matches shown in this show, which I find to be ridiculous because the show is 38 episodes and they could've fit in way more matches for the run time. The best parts of the show were the episodes focused on a tournament or match. This show could easily have been maybe a 9.5/10 if a bunch more high-intensity competitions were added.

I didn't mind the age gap too much. I would say the chemistry was pretty good up until ML and FL actually got together, then they weren't so believable as a couple. I found myself skipping most of the last few episodes of them being a couple because it just wasn't too interesting honestly. I liked Wu Lei's pining and devotion toward Zhou Yu Tong's character. This role really suited him so well, he made the character very believable. Wu Lei playing a younger man who is vibrant and pining for the older character works very well. He is indeed, very young, so this type of role suits him very well in my opinion. Zhou Yu Tong aka Liang Yu Tong is very likable also. She has more to her than just being in love with Leo Wu. She actually doesn't act on her feelings for Song Sang Chuan (Wu Lei) up until around episode 30. I enjoyed that. Liang Yu Tong is a very independent, strong working woman who is very driven towards her work. She is a workaholic and not hypnotized by the "glimmer" which could be falling in love. She knows she can do just fine on her own, if not better. I like how this show emphasizes that you do not need to fall in love to feel like a whole person. You can be very much fine and happy on your own and along the way of living you may meet someone who you fall in love with, but that doesn't and should not define you.

Is this show repetitive? Yes, I would say so. Would I describe it as boring. Yup, kind of was. 4/5ths of it is Song Sang Chuan training, there's a training montage, Liang Yu Tong managing the tennis team, then she's watching him or helping him out, and then you have a scene where they are interacting with each other, helping each other solve some problems, rinse and repeat. Although it was repetitive I would say it was moderately entertaining. I didn't skip most of the show and I didn't drop it.

I would say that this show is very easy to watch, it makes good background noise and once you do want to pay attention you won't be lost in what is going on. I would watch this show one week then spend other weeks doing something else and come back to the show and still be engaged and not confused. I really enjoyed the easiness of the show. If you are looking for something very intense and emotionally provoking then I would skip this one.

“big old waste of time”

As my little sister put it “that was a big old waste of time”

At the beginning this show was good fun to watch and commentate on how stupid everything was, from the plot to Nabi’s very dumb decisions, but then even that got boring. The story became uninteresting, Nabi and Jaeon’s relationship is just one long dumb cycle… they kiss, he’s a red flag so they go on a break and then miraculously they end up together again.

Nabi was just so dumb… I cannot understand how she still goes back to Jaeon time after time again, it makes no sense, especially with the second male lead who was so perfect.

Jaeon is a creep, his obsession over butterflies seems to be the only reason that he likes Nabi. He speaks in fragmented sentence and is always in Nabi’s personal space; this man really has no sense of awareness or boundaries whatsoever.

Nabi and Jaeon have no chemistry, they have no reason to like eachother; dialogue between them is just so so strange. Most of the time their “talks” would consist of Jaeon speaking in a fragmented sentence and then proceeding to kiss a very uncomfortable Nabi.

All of the side couple romance is boring. None of them could retain my attention except Sol and Ji-wan; their story is very cute, however, they have very short screen time. I would have loved to see their relationship more in depth.

As Do-Hyeok once described Nabi as, this show was very “disappointing”.
