Welcome to yapper express!

Boy oh boy I have a lot to unpack! (no pun intended because you know - the trunk)

First, I'm very glad I went into this before seeing the reviews because I watched this in one sitting. It was a 10/10 experience for me from start to finish. I don't like slow shows that drag on, but this did not feel like that to me. There was so much going on that the suspense kept me sat. It was a beautifully done noir drama. I think it all unfolded perfectly.

Next, something to consider before embarking on this journey there is what is mentioned in the rating on Netflix, but there is an on screen r-pe scene. It's brief, but it could be jarring if you're not expecting it to be there. It's in episode 2. Early on there are also on-screen depictions of domestic violence. There's violence throughout, suic-de talks and attempts (one attempt leads to the loss of a pregnancy), dr-g usage, unaliving, stalking, and probably more that I'm forgetting. So be sure to take care of yourself and skip this one if you're sensitive to these topics!

Now, The mysteries!

*Ongoing unaliving investigation that flip flops throughout the timeline.

*We meet-
In-ji: Owns mysterious trunk, fiancé has been missing for 5 years, works for a contract marriage agency and is on her 5th marriage.
Han Jeong Won: Introduced as our other lead, he's very unhappy, addicted to substances, and his ex wife is forcing him to do a contract marriage for a year in order to win her back.
Seo Yeon: She hand picked In-ji to be the contract marriage wife, why? Also, why is she forcing her husband to marry someone else for a year? She too has a new husband who she happily bangs and lives her best life. (I refer to her husband as "hot wimp")

Spoilers-

Additional mysteries : In-ji's stalker is who is unalived, Seo Yeon also owns the same mysterious trunk.

The main complaints I've seen: The smex scene and the ending.

My thoughts:

1. The smex scene is not a nonsensical one, which I wouldn't care if it were I'm not upset by nudity. This scene really showcases how disturbed and sadistic Seo Yeon is. She is completely enthralled by and getting off on the fact that she's out doing whatever she wants and keeping Han Jeong Won on a leash. She's punishing him and making him suffer and she's LOVING it. I didn't fully understand this until later in the show, now looking back on this scene I'm like wow, hate that woman. NO matter what is explained in her story, I do not care nor do I feel bad for her. She's ab-sive and needs help. (that's putting it lightly)

2. The ending. I'm not upset by this ending. I think it was really beautiful and had me kicking my feet. I care so much more about In-ji and Han Jeon Won healing than them just staying together as they were. They both needed to do so much healing on their own before being with someone, because they'd never done that before. They clung to people out of loneliness, security, and familiarity and I'm so happy to have seen them stand up for themselves and grow. I'm taking the open-ish ending as a happy one. They'll totally be together.

Lastly, In-ji the woman that you are! Her character is so much more complex than what you see on the surface. Her character was so well done. In-ji is a total bad ass. Period.
