Not Really There!
I've been watching Tientsin Mystic Season 2 since February, and I only finished it now - because the beginning and middle parts of the season are really DRAGGING. ? The first 12 or 16 episodes could have been summarized to around 6 to 8 episodes. The exciting parts were all crammed in the last few episodes.I watched season 2 because season 1 was great. The lead actor for season 1 was Li Xian, while the lead actor for season 2 is Jin Shi Jia, and I don't know who this guy is. ? The reason I watched season 2 was just for continuity's sake. My logic is like, "I watched Season 1! I gotta watch Season 2". Jin Shi Jia's acting is OKAY, but if the lead actor were Li Xian, the acting would have been great. Jin Shi Jia lacks the OOMPH! Li Xian's acting is like 8 or 9, while Jin Shi Jia's acting is just around 6 or 7.
The rest of the actors are still those in Season 1: Zhang Ming En, Cici Wang, Charlene Chen, and Tang Yi Nuo (funny guy, this one!). Well, they're good actors. But I just couldn't stand the villain (played by Wang Fang) because instead of appearing smart, he seems like an idiot who just got lucky. The villain is very good with chemistry, and he knows martial arts because he was trained in the Dutch army - so he is supposed to be impressive. But I am not impressed with him at all. They should have cast a better actor. The other villain (they're partners) played by Serena Zhang is more believable and impressive. Well, it should have been better if she were the main villain, and the other guy is just the sidekick.
Well, whatever! I finished watching it AT LAST! I give it a 5.5/10.

I watched the series because of Li Xian. I first got to know this actor when I watched Tientsin Mystic in Netflix. I also watched his other C-drama "Go Go Squid" (available in WeTV). Sword Dynasty belongs to the wuxia genre and it is about a group of people wanting to overthrow the tyrannical king of Wu. There are love elements in the drama but it is not the main theme of the series. It started out slow in the first few episodes. The focus was on the backstories of the characters. After the backstories, the story moved fast. I like the principles and morals presented in the series. One thing I hate though is (SPOILER ALERT) that a lot of good characters died in the series.
I give it an 8/10.

Recommended!
So, we're done watching The Uncanny Counter, and this is a "rare event" since I am not an avid fan of K-drama. I prefer C-drama.Anyway, the series is about a group of people called "counters" who hunt down evil spirits dwelling inside people (i.e. these evil spirits actually "possess" people and make them do bad things). I can't say anything more since that could spoil the series for you.
I recommend this series. There are some funny moments, irritating moments, and definitely, a lot of sad moments. It's classified as "fantasy, mystery, thriller" by Google. I'd classify it as "supernatural" --- that word says it all.
You will also see a lot of bullying in this series - as in, bullying in high school - and as I've posted in my statuses before, I noticed that most K-dramas in school settings have themes about bullying. Some of my FB friends who are familiar with the Korean culture said that bullying is indeed rampant in Korea.
The series only has 16 episodes. So you can finish it in two weeks if you watch one episode every day. (Hahaha --- as if! I know most of you binge-watch!)
This is definitely WORTH WATCHING compared to Sweet Tooth ?
It's on Netflix, btw.

Douluo Continent

Must Watch if you are a Xiao Zhan fan!
After two months, I finished watching Douluo Continent. It is a fantasy, martial arts, adventure series available on WeTV. It stars Xiao Zhan as Tang San and Wu XianYi as Xiao Wu. It has 40 episodes and each episode runs for 45 minutes. I finished the series in two months because I can't watch it every day. I have work. Tons of it. So, there! The story focuses on Tang San who overcame a lot of challenges in his life, together with his classmates in Shi Lan Ke, an academy for improving soul power. The series is based on the manhua Douluo Dalu (斗罗大陆) by Tang Jia San Shao. I believe there is also a donghua of the same name. Though I haven't read the manhua or watched the donghua.
I watched the series because it stars Xiao Zhan, and I'm a fan.
Some observations about the series. First, it's slow-paced. It takes a lot of episodes for character development and story background. The story became more exciting around the 20th episode, I think. Second, the musical score is not that impressive. It's kinda boring actually. I am used to C-drama with great music like The Untamed (which also stars Xiao Zhan). Third, it feels like a game. The soul masters have to do something to "level up" their soul power. But before a soul master can "level up", he/she has to have enough EXP to move to the next level. Fourth, it promotes positive values and team spirit. This is what I like about this series the most. Lastly, it has a hanging ending. I was like "I watched 40 episodes for this ending?"
If you want to watch this series, you have to be patient, and you have to be a Xiao Zhan fan; otherwise, you'd be bored in the middle of it. Also, you have to understand that there is a Season 2, hence the hanging ending.
My score for this series is 7/10. Sorry Xiao Zhan, just because I am a fan doesn't mean that I have to give all your projects high scores.
