This is going to be my first review
The word "high school" is used for making memories, may that be good or bad. Do you remember the first time you skipped classes? Do you remember that homework that you haven't passed yet? Do you remember the first time you've been in love? They say that the best memories we have are memories of high school. High school is the time that we didn't even know we were having the best times of our life. Friends, money, studies, books, love, and many more things have probably made your high school at least that enjoyable.
Shin Woo-Hyun is a boy who does poorly in academics and has narcissistic tendencies. He lives with his grandmother because his mother left him at a very young age. But even showing a cheerful attitude, his yearning for his mother goes to show how fragile he can be. Despite this, there's a girl who shows to have a crush on him but knowing Woo-Hyun's personality, her mother despised him and even went to humiliate her daughter just for the girl to stay away from him.
Now, have you entered the emo phase? In where you reject everyone including your parents just to stick for your own beliefs? Well, that's also part of being in high school, being emotional over small things. Remember, you can always listen to emo music: Paramore, MCR, Fallout Boy, etc. But don't take drastic measures one of which is killing yourself. Just because you won't be able to be with your crush doesn't mean it's the end of the world, well I guess it's their emo phase. The girl was now on the verge of jumping from the building, we see Woo-Hyun rushing towards her thinking that he'll stop her but what we get is a seemingly double suicide.
Enter cute angel, an aloof girl who just enjoys watching Korean soap opera in a local television store. Invisible to humans, these angels guide the soul of the dead to enter the next life. Every angel has a black book that contains the name of the soon to be deceased, I guess you can call it the "Death Note". The angel went to the location of the "possible" souls to collect. At this moment you can see that kids are very irrational and when they decide something at the spur of the moment, they will most likely regret it but we can't blame them, after all, they are still kids. Hesitant to kill themselves, an unexpected thunderstorm shocked the girl and blunders. At the nick of time, Woo-Hyun saved the girl, unfortunately, he became outbalanced and fell. The angel looks as if the book cannot decide who will come to pass, she accidentally dropped her book and as soon as she picked it up, Woo-Hyun fell on top of her and she instinctively tried to save him.
But everything has a price. They both go to the hospital and Woo-Hyun is surprisingly unscathed. He immediately thanked the girl who saved her but the girl is incredibly shocked. Yup, the angel who has invisible to mortals can now be seen. Because he wanted to thank her for saving his life, he insisted on helping her. In a panic, during a police interrogation, she said things that were believed to be absurd and supernatural, and she was immediately suspected of amnesia. Woo-Hyun was probably weirded out so he decided to let the police do the job. But thanks to his grandmother, she insisted that the girl should stay on their home until she remembers anything, what a lucky son of a bitch.
On to the questions, "Is this really good?". This doesn't just revolve on every high school life but with everything that might happen in our life. The way they express their emotion was good enough to make me cry liters. The story was so compelling that sometimes I'd wish I had the same thing happening to me. It's not just studies that make us sad or our crush who doesn't want to talk to us. It's about how we find fulfillment and happiness through sad times. As Dr. Seuss quotes, "You will never know the value of a moment, until it becomes a memory".
And now the story begins to start as they find love, sadness, dissociation along with their lives. In life, we always fall but without some lows, there is no high. High school is 4 years of laughter, joy, sadness, and heartbreaks. High school is the only time where you can be the most happy but forgotten the most. So when you have the time for it, enjoy it as much as possible as time doesn't wait for us.
