disappointing
Time traveling. Girl kissers. Say those words and I'm sold. However, I was left feeling frustrated at the WHOLE PLOT, characterization and theme about 'sacrifice'.There is ZERO logic in the time traveling aspect. What I mean by that is simple. Jattawa's father repeatedly went back in time to save Vivi, and the sisters didn't remember a thing about that. How come they do remember it the final time their father did it? And why is he able to go years, decades back in time, but Jattawa can't?
And why was Vivi fated to die again and again? I know it's because of Four, but why could everything be changed except for Vivi's fate? Sadly, it's a failed attempt at making the story tragic. Sometimes dramas don't need unnecessary murder plots. I couldn't take ANYTHING seriously. Maybe I'm being too critical of this entire fantasy element. The thing is, it's relevant to the plot. It's supposed to make sense??
Of course there's a mean girl. Jattawa went back in time, told Kie some philosophical sh*t and now, she's genuinely apologizing to Four for all she's done! Make it make sense. People don't act like that in real life.
At least the romance was cute, although it was nothing life-changing. Also, I liked the sister dynamic between Jattawa and Vivi.

I enjoyed the silent moments
Slowburns really are the best. It's all about the long stares full of pining, hand gestures, and simply being in each other's presence. These type of dramas don't even need a kiss scene, but when they did kiss? Priceless. I felt so many emotions inside me.If I tell you I couldn't stop watching a drama you should trust me. That's because I tend to drop a lot of series I'm not interested in anymore. I like character-driven stories; this was EVERYTHING I've wanted in a while. The actress for the fl did such a good job with portraying her character. She absolutely shined in this drama.
Her temper, her somewhat cold attitude while also being warm, her maturity and her character development were all things I LOVED and was interested in. While getting to know the ml she slowly began to show her sweet side. I found it natural the way her loathing turning to pity and then finally love. I also liked her approach to dealing with that woman (I forgot her name). She realized that she turned her hate towards that woman when she should've hated her father, too. Although, she still doesn't forgive her, and rightfully so. They had a crucial talk at the end, and the fl communicated her thoughts well. I know some people would want to let that woman suffer in prison, but that's the point of this drama because the message it gives us is that life is not all about revenge. That's how I interpreted it, anyway.
The gentle, calm nature of the ml was a refreshing change from the usual teasing, charming love interests. We need more of that. He never snapped words out of anger to someone. The one time he did lose his mind was when the fl got hurt.
They're the exact opposite, yet that's why they complement each other so nicely. The fl needed someone who would be patient, accepting and kind. The ml needed someone who would be honest, straightforward and compassionate.
You know it's bad when I was flabbergasted at this drama not having an unnecessary second lead. That's rare, you know? The fl's best friend didn't have a secret crush on her. Instead, he fell for her sister.
The thing I'm disappointed with is the last episode. I didn't really understand their third-act breakup. It didn't make sense. And once they got back together at the final scene I wished for more. We were barely showed cute moments between them. They had great chemistry. I was able to feel their love from miles away. However, it wasn't enough imo. Also, I dislike that the younger brother was being treated like a 15-years old kid. He. Is. A. Grown. Man! I'm glad they focused a bit on the older sister, though.
Bottom line: two sad people falling in love is just my thing

At first, I wanted to give it 8 stars
I'm going to be frank and say that weak hero class is not a drama that stands out, but the emotions I felt watching this consequently lead me to giving this a slightly higher rating than I initially planned. If you know me, my favorite type of story is one that makes me cry uncontrollably to the point where I have to pause and rethink my whole life. This was exactly what I needed.Starting off with the bromance between Shi Eun and Soo Ho, I think I loved that part the most. The way they would sacrifice themselves for each other just so the other could be safe from harm's way is the sweetest. Though, at the same time a vicious circle of revenge. Their friendship runs THAT deeply. A small detail I noticed is when Soo Ho came by Shi Eun's house after knowing he was beaten and said: "I'm thirsty. Give me some water," hinting to the moment where their relationship started. I was like: "OMG, the parallels!". I also SOBBED at the ending. God, the amount of grief I felt when I thought Soo Ho died. Luckily, he didn't. However, HE ISN'T GONNA APPEAR IN WHC 2??? I'm feeling sad once again. Anyhow, definitely one of the best bromances out there! I do wish we got to see more of them.
The characters are really interesting while simultaneously being the most insufferable people ever. Istg, sometimes (this means always) I just had the urge to slap Beom Seok in the face. I do appreciate his character to a certain extent, but mostly it's just a feeling of hatred. My favorite character would be Shi Eun. At first glance, he looks weak (that's why bullies pick on him). However, he uses his environment to his advantage to incapacitate the ones who beat him up. He was also surprisingly empathetic towards Beom Seok even after finding out he helped almost-killing Soo Ho. Nevertheless, he's not the nicest because how he's using his pen to fight is gruesome. Park Ji Hoon portrayed him amazingly. Now about Soo Ho, I really love him and the nonchalant way he dodges strikes. I love how he's always taking a nap while in every single class that he's in.
Normally, dramas about bullying and fight scenes (I do like fight scenes but not when it's in combination with bullying or when it overrides the plot) are not really my thing. I prefer thrillers, political intrigue and slow-burn romance. Even so, this is an exception.

just no
This was a waste of my time. I've spent 6 hours watching this when I could've done other things. I blame my FOMODISLIKES
The characters
The fl is meant to be this independent businesswoman who isn't a damsel in distress, right? Instead, we have a character who constantly needs to be saved by this handsome demon (who is the only demon in the entire series apparently). She also needs to marry someone to inherit her family's business APPARENTLY. And don't get my wrong. I'm not saying romance makes a woman weak and dependent of her partner. It's just silly that she needs to marry to inherit the business and the rescue missions done by the ml were becoming extremely repetitive. What do you mean ''she's being hanged from a building by the ones who want to kill her''. HER KILLERS COULD'VE KILLED HER QUICKLY WITHOUT DELAY? All these situations show that the demon's powers are extremely useless the fl's bodyguard could've been a human.
Surprise surprise, I do not only dislike the fl but the ml as well! He isn't funny, he isn't romantic. His only personality trait is being a goofy demon who apparently lived for many years but doesn't in the slightest bit act maturely as he's just a silly demon.
The romance
The leads start bickering on their first meeting, so I could tell they wanted to make this an enemies to lovers romance. Plot twist, they weren't enemies at all! The trope was so forced it's hilarious. Their interactions were so boring I'm surprised I managed to watch 6 episodes. To sum it up, their romance was boring. I found it bland and poorly written.
Honestly, I can't say much about the plot. The only thing I'll say is that it didn't make sense
LIKES
The ost was decent, I guess

interesting plotline, bad execution
When I saw this on Netflix I was elated. I mean, two academic rivals meeting each other again at the lowest point of their lives resulting in them finding solace in each other? AND falling in love in the process? That's literally my cup of tea. Unfortunately, I ended up being disappointed.First and foremost, I disliked the romance. I barely felt anything between the leads. Their chemistry was nonexistent. I could tell they were going for a slow-burn romance. But where were the subtleties that makes a slow-burn a GOOD slow-burn? Instead we have Jeong Woo ignoring his own feelings towards Ha Neul, knowing deep down he likes her. Girl, the whole world knows you like her. I'm tired of those clichés.
The theme surrounding mental health was well explained. However, the comedic aspect ruined it all; it felt off-putting. Though, maybe that's just a preference considering I love mature dramas without comedy more than whatever-this-is.
Ending my review as I've only watched 5 out of 16 episodes

This is for the people who like wholesome dramas without any tedious conflicts
So you might think from the headline that I'd give this a solid 8-10 rating, right? No, that's not the case, but I don't by any means think this is a bad drama. For me it's just an ordinary drama and I know people are gonna disagree with me given that the average rating on MDL is a 9.1.LIKES
-There was zero toxicity in their friendships / relationships. And I know that seems the bare minimum, but it happens quite frequently. I do have to say that I don't particularly hate toxicity. I could even love it if they have the chemistry (*cough cough* Doona!)
-Even though Su Zai Zai has a very bubbly demeanor, she isn't naive, nor stupid and stands up for herself.
-WIFTY'S SIGNATURE SONG
-I found it really refreshing to see the girl chasing the guy instead of the other way around. WE NEED TO SEE MORE OF THAT. Also, some women say they don't like the girl chasing the guy. Imo, that screams internalized misogyny
-The beach episode!
-Gu Ran's confession to Jiang Jia. Damnnnn. He has a way with words
-It makes you want to have the same kind of friend group
DISLIKES
-The last few episodes. Yes, it was a happily ever after. That's good. However, it was so... unnecessary. Sometimes we don't need writers to add whole episodes about the characters after high school when their story already ended IN high school. It makes the ending feel rushed. Sometimes we just need a SHORT clip of them as adults. Nothing more, nothing less. And maybe let Guan Fang finally have a girlfriend (Guan Fang was my favorite)
-As much as I loved the main couple, why was she still acting like a child as a grown woman? AND THEN SHE GOT PREGNANT? I genuinely had a jumpscare. Another reason why the ending was rushed
-I prefer character-driven stories. This was not one of them. A few characters were given backstories. but they did close to absolutely NOTHING with those backstories
-Why did we get sad backstories / life stories from ONLY the boys in their friend group?? Why didn't we see one of the girls struggling with a hardship? That gives me the impression that the author of the original novel likes writing about 'broken' boys. And girls can't have any flaws in their lives of course! Su Zai Zai's life was too perfect. Even Guan Fang and Gu Ran had a backstory. I think that says a lot
-Their friendship felt too perfect. There wasn't any messiness
-Jiang Jia liking Gu Ran felt sudden. She never showed it. Not even a subtle sign
Overall, not a bad drama. I just wish it had more depth in it

fun to watch
I was just in the mood for a movie with a revenge plot. It's nothing remotely interesting realistically. The fight scenes are simply fun to watch. The mc killing a whole army of men doesn't make sense if you think about it though. It didn't feel believable unlike in My Name. Nonetheless, I would rewatch it. Who doesn't love women taking revenge on men?Considerați utilă această recenzie?
