The story is cute. There are no DUN... DUN...DUN... moments at all. It's mostly generic, will I be exposed in this most random way ever kind of moments.
I think the main couple did a great job. The female lead, Nishiuchi Mariya is quite well suited for the comedic genre. While pretty much everything she does is over-exaggerated, that's what made it funny. It's fun to watch the her oscillate between her two personas. I also like her well "mostly" internal dialogue. Her facial expressions are hilarious, and I do enjoy the "acme" cartoon effects.
The main male lead, is also adorable. His character is played in a much more subbed way, to offset the female leads over the top presence.
The music was fine. There are no "WOW I will always associate that music with this drama" songs. The music didn't really add anything to the viewing experience, but it didn't detract from the viewing either. Just complimented it nicely as background music.
Overall this is a fun romp when you need a little sugar in your diet. But like all sweets, don't eat too much or you will most likely end up bouncing off the walls from a sugar high, or curled up in a corner weeping because your belly hurts - then again maybe that's just me =-p

Legend of Hyang Dan

I really liked the story, although nothing really new, it was refreshing, funny, well paced and kept you entertained. Even if you are not familiar with the classic story of The Legend of Chun Hyang, you can still enjoy this movie, as I did.
The two main leads do a great job with their roles, and they do seem to have a nice chemistry. Seo Ji Hye as Hyang Dan was great, but her character was a little too "we come from different worlds". I would have liked to see her let that go a little earlier. Otherwise she is very sincere and believable in her portrayal. Choi Si Won as Lee Mong Ryong is adorable, and quite funny. He's like a little boy in some scenes, like when he is "studying"!
Even the supporting cast does well. Kim Kwang Gyu as Eui Jik -the bandit leader - was really quite funny! He had me slapping my head, rolling my eyes in one scene and then holding my sides from laughing in another.
The only thing I didn't understand, was the point of the two ghost? Perhaps this is some reference to the original story? They don't detract or add to the story in my opinion, but I just don't get it.
Over all this was a pleasant way to spend my rainy Saturday afternoon.
Please note that the "rewatch value" is such because I do not rewatch anything, but if I had to guess you could enjoy watching it more than once?

I have never read the novel that this was based on, so I don't know how faithful it is in regards to the story. The story in the movie is good, interesting and although not a fast paced movie, the pace fits the story. This version seems a little darker than the drama series The Painter of the Wind.
The actors were mostly ok. Shin Yun Bok played by Kim Gyu Ri, was really well done. She managed to convey all the conflicting emotions of her character quite well. You could see within her the joy she had for painting, the pain and guilt she carried with her from her family, and the odd mixture of innocence and experience.
The other actors did well with their characters, but due to the limitations of time, most of the other characters were pretty flat.
I really disliked the portrayal of Kim Hong-Do, her mentor. Kim Nam-Gil had no subtlety in his portrayal. He went from nothing to all, out of no where (Sorry, I can't explain that more without spoilers). Park Shin Yang did a much better job with this role in the drama series The Painter of the Wind.
The music went very well with the movie, it swirled in the background like a brush on canvas.
I would also note that this movie is quite sexually explicit, and definitely not for younger viewers, though I thought that most of the sex scenes were relevant to the plot, so not completely gratuitous.
Overall, if you want to see this story I think I would recommend The Painter of the Wind as a better choice. The series is a piece of artwork in itself, with sweeping cinematography, breathtaking music, and outstanding works of art. The characters are richer and fuller, and the story is all encompassing and not quite as dark. However if you don't have time to commit to the drama and just want a quick movie, this is fine.

I always like quirky shows so this was right up my alley.
Although there is a series ARC of trying to become the "Math Boss", each episode is pretty much a standalone. Each episode presents a "rival" (emboldened by their signature "move"), quirkiness ensues, as well as various math problems and explanations - leading me to revisit my own high school math past and shudder lol. (I have NO clue what they were talking about with the math - didn't hinder the fun though.)
I think the story is what it is. It seems to try too hard sometimes to be *squeeee* and doesn't quite pull it off. It is definitely lacking in something. I honestly can't put my finger on what it is lacking, perhaps it's that there really doesn't seem to be a connection to the main character.
The acting cast is pretty one dimensional. They do an ok job at their roles, but the roles are so flat that there really isn't much room to do anything with them. (read as if each one is nothing more than a catchphrase). Nina doesn't really have enough pull on the audience. There is no investment. There are so many characters (both main and supporting) that it's like going to a random party and meeting everyone. It's overwhelming and kinda fun but you know you're never going to see them again, so there is no deeper connection.
The music is fine. They have random little let's burst into song times, but they could have done more with it.
Rewatch - can't really see the point.
Overall this is an ok show. It's cute. It's the kind of show you can watch one episode at a time as "filler". Got 25 mins to spare - catch an ep. Want a little laugh - watch an ep.
What is the probability that you will like this? I have no clue I stink at math lol. But go ahead and give it a try - and please remember to SHOW YOUR WORK! (partial credit will be awarded.)

He's a Woman, She's a Man

The story itself is fun and well paced, nothing is really going to surprise you, but Peter Chan and his cast make that ok by delivering a sophisticated light comedy/drama.
The main actress and actor do a phenomenal job. Yuen does a good job as a boy, and still comes off as loveable and sweet, without being annoying or overbearing. you can't help but root for her. Leslie Cheung is spot on with his role, and the supporting cast do a great job as well.
I will say one stumbling block for many will be the age of this film, at almost 20 years old it might be a turn off for some. I think however that if a film is good, time doesn't really matter. And this film, in my opinion, seems to hold up well.
I would also like to note that there are some more adult scenes in this movie (unlike so many of the closed lip kiss is the climax of many other films). So please take into consideration that this is definitely geared towards adults.
Overall I would say if you like GB stories and don't mind the old school feel this is definitely a movie you should check out.

This is a fun popcorn movie. It's a fun romp to watch when you want something not too heavy. It's kind of a buddy-flick for girls lol. The story, was fine. Notice I didn't say believable, lol they never are, but it kept moving along nicely and at a decent pace. It never takes itself to serious, even during the more "dramatic" scenes. It had a couple of little wrenches thrown in, but your not going to get to the end and be like - "Wow he WAS Keyser Söze!" Then again I don't mind a formulaic plot as long as they do it well.
Kim Sun Ah does a great job as the lead. Her comedic timing is great, and her acting was well done. The other 3 female leads did a nice job of supporting her. I think it was great that they represented every stage of a woman's life, the younger woman, the middle aged woman, and the older woman.
Do I think you should watch it? Yes. Especially if your a fan of Kim Sun Ah like I am. It might even make you ponder the question, would YOU take the gold in front of you? And if so, for what reasons?
(please note- I wanted to leave re-watch blank, as I really don't EVER re-watch, so I feel I really shouldn't answer it)

Anna in Kung Fu Land

The story is a complete mess. It drags and lags with only the rarest of cute or amusing moments. The main male character, Ken, is a terrible person, who does nothing to make you want to root for him. He's slimy and lazy. When you find yourself actually rooting AGAINST the main male lead- it's time to find the remote or open a new window - seriously. The main female lead, Anna, isn't much better. The love triangle is HORRIBLE! Ken is a sweet and loveable man who can't decide between the two women in his life - no wait - sorry I was day-dreaming again! Ken is a misogynistic jerk who holds onto to both women for his own selfish reasons.
Which leads me to the cast. The way Ekin Cheng plays Ken is unbelievable. He puts out a quirky, sweet, Hugh grant in the movies kind of vibe, when his character is really Hugh Grant in real life arrested for getting caught with a prostitute. It just doesn't work. Why do you think we would find you charming when you act like that?
The same goes for Miriam Yeung who plays Anna. She really just leaves the character flat.
As for re-watch - well I never score high on that - but for this one I was like like WOW you actually made it through ONCE - dear god in heaven no more!
I can not in all honesty even say give it a try. I think there are definitely more entertaining choices out there.

Cuz you're f*ing hot!
Swords, guns, hand to hand! So what if a couple shirts have to get ripped in the process? Sexy but not gratuitous.
The story was really good. Interesting, but not hard to follow. Lots of action and cool fighting/wire work, with a little twist in the middle.
The actresses did a really good job with their characters. Zhao Wei as Chen Ai Quan (or Sue) did a really nice job with the different facets of her character. As the younger sister she struggles with not being point, and wanting to do more.
Shu Qi as Chen Ai Lin (or Lynn)and Karen Mok as Kong Yat-Hung, but did a good job with both the story and the fight scenes.
Overall this is a good chick-flick action movie! Grab some popcorn and enjoy!
