one of the best of 2021
one of the best dramas of 2021!!! the plot may not be extravagant but the cast, i swear they are beyond excellent! special mention to lee dong shik, park jeong je and han ju won. i am a fan of character-driven dramas, and i love the fact that despite this being plot driven, the characters werent set aside. you could still feel every pain and sorrow that they are going through. and the actors were superb. dont even get me started with dong shik and jeong je. i just just loved loved everything about this drama.honestly, what i expected is like super dark vibes, but it wasnt like that. the atmosphere was lighter that what i have thought but the things that are happening, esp in dong shik's life arent as bright as that.
i'd say that the plot is simpler than what i had expected, but this drama did well with the mind games and the tricks they're hiding in their sleeves. it managed to maintain the suspense even though the culprits were revealed pretty quickly.
and how the actors delivered that ending... beyond touching. the ending wasnt even a scene that will supposedly makes me cry, but i dont know why i did. i was literally teary eyed while watching that scene. i just want to hug everyone and keep them safe. dong shik and ju won's friendship was so beautiful i feel like towards the end it became more of a familial love. i'm glad that despite everything that happened in their past, they were able to form such an amazing bond and helped each other recover.
so if you're hesitating to watch this , dont. GO AND WATCH THIS BEYOND EXCELLENT SHOW. you won't regret it.

almost masterpiece
Bloody Heart // 9/10"You are my lover, my queen, and my political rival."
i cant say that it's perfect but it was GREAT. the way that the dramas was plotted, how the characters were fleshed out it is really amazing and unique. this is a political, historical and romance drama that did a great job of mixing up those things.
i'd want to focus more on the characters as they really moved the story forward. how the film is driven by the characters is amazing. every decision that they make has its own consequences, and those consequences become the driving force for the plot to forward.
The King
- at first, he does look like a weak and powerless king. pretty much like every king that i've watched in sageuk dramas so far😂 but as the story progress, i realized that he's actually not. he's powerless but not really weak. at some point, i considered him stupid, but thats not really the perfect description for him hahaha. he's self-righteous, selfish, unforgiving, cunning, decisive, foolish, vengeful. yes, and not in the the best way. i'd say that at some point, this qualities of him drove the whole palace in chaos and the whole kingdom at stake.
by the second half, i was truly mad, frustrated and annoyed by him. he's not a benovelent king and it's true. he's a gray character. in between good and bad, actually, everyone in this drama is.
a lot of other watchers hate him for these traits and quality, and i totally understand. however, i can understand why he became like that. the way that he was brought up, his environment, experience and traumas made him who he is. and the every decision that he make is always in character. although not always right.
for me it's not, you either hate him or like him because he's in the middle of good and bad; which, if you ask me, the most realistic approach you could give to a king. he is not the best king but he is one of the most realistic one from those ive watch so far. so i may not love him so much but i will surely remember him for a long time.
i do appreciate what they did to him by the end. the realization and lessons that hit him. and him finally accepting the Queen, not just as a wife, but as his political rival.
Councilor Park
- some would say that he's the antagonist, but no one's an antagonist in this drama. he love his country so much that he'd do everything just to stop another tyranny, without realizing that he would be responsible for the tyrant ---. his love for his country is amazing, however, his means werent. he wont care if there would be sacrifices, chaos and death, which is ironical, as long as it would be for the kingdom/country's wellness.
but i would give that he's smart as heck. and Jang Hyuk's portrayal is just perfect. hes the type of antagonistic character that you wouldnt wish to die as he really raise the stakes and keeps the plot moving and interesting.
Queen Dowager
- i want to hate her until the end but i just couldnt😂 what she did was unforgivable, but i could understand what drives her to this point. i actually pitied her for being controlled by men and ended up imprisoned in the palace. however, i hope she was held accountable at least for everything that she did.
and its just to frustrating that the king cant touch her after everything that she did just because he's her mother, well, at least in paper. dude, come on, she's basically just his stepmom😭
The Queen/Consort Yoo/Park
- finally my favorite character, THE QUEEN! she's the only truly righteous character in this drama hahaha. finally, a queen that isnt just a romance material or a baby bearer.
she doesnt runaway. stands up for people. doesnt get swayed easily. forward thinker. brilliant. truly cares for her people.i love the fact that they made her the anchor of the king and the country. that the King actually acknowledged her as his political rival in a time where woman are just treated as a child bearer and women shouldnt be in to politics. that was really amazing and refreshing to watch.
i love how consistent the drama is. whether it be the characters, the atmosphere, the cinematography, the ost and even the plot and tension.
the dramas picturesque cinematography and heartstopping OST deserves all the appreciation! just look at this shots! and it was so consistent from the beginning till end. i would say that this is the strongest aspect of this drama.
the characters are brilliant and well thought out, everyone is three dimensional. not to mention that the acting is amazing as well. during the chaotic phase, i thought i would give this a low rating, but after some time, i realize that the drama is actually brilliant. it made me think and assess my values. you cant just watch it and let everything be spoonfed to you.
this is the type of drama that will make you question the character's decision, as well as your opinion about it. i just love it when films and books do that.
i remember what my mentor told me that a masterpiece is not whole. there would be some spaces left for the audience to ponder. and that thinking part makes you truly connected to it.
so do i recommend this? YES. if you are into politics, historical fiction, power struggle and a bit of drama. this is perfect for you.

as expected from a nam goong min drama
9/10, i was actually contemplating to give it 8 but i feel like i'm betraying nam goong min's acting HAHAHHAi love the concept, i think it was very new and refreshing. i especially love nam goong min's acting, too (is it even a surprise lol). Jung Woo and Hye Won's chemistry (i know this isnt romance but i cant stop myself) is EVERYTHING. i didnt expect for it to click on me that much, like i was literally screaming when they have moments together, no matter few are them. damn.
the other characters are just ok. tho i think it was one of the downside of the drama for me. since this is plot-driven, the other characters weren't focused that much. they did well with jung woo and hye won's character, but it was such a let down that the other kids werent given the same backstory as them. i was really disappointed with jamie's character. i was expecting more from her as the second child, but there's just nothing special with her. even her deduction skill wasnt much for someone who's a former FBI agent. the third child was good at first, but towards the end i feel like he was just abandoned — as well as the fourth one. i just hoped that they tried to give more focus too on the other characters other than Hye Won and Jung Woo.
that being said, the plot is amazing. the concept of immortality and the likes is great. there are pretty questionable parts that i think managed to be overlooked at because of the fantasy tag. the mix of science fiction and fantasy is just good for me. there are some unneccessary parts (product placements i'm looking at you) but it didnt really affected my enjoyment. it was very decent thriller, scifi and fantasy. and since nam goong min is here, i'm sure you wont regret it.

THE BEST MIX OF EVERYTHING
there are only few dramas that lives up to my expectation, and this one exceeds what i expected! i've been waiting for this even before the trailers came out, and i was so excited because the plot seems very promising and the actors are surely top-notched. and boy it never disappoints from first episode to last!i love how they mixed loooots of genre so well, romance, fantasy, magic, mystery, horror, comedy, drama, you name it~! this is the kind that makes me rolling on the floor floor laughing and then sobbing your eyes out the next minute. the cast were perfect, too, the actors did a perfect job of fleshing out the characters. and speaking of characters, i love how each character, supporting or main, were flesh out like they were real people. the subplots were so juicy and amazing, it's not the filler type as they really have an essence to the story's progression. yeah, that's how you do it right! also, this has on one of the best mixing of Modern-History reincarnation trope that i've seen so far. and THAT ending where they met after the *you know what* it's the BEST! i love how they did that cross over so much!
Seul Hee's character was a definition of strong, bold, and kind woman. and cha cha woong's flaw, development, clever, softness is perfect. at first i thought the chemistry was there but not too much, but towards the middle, i was smiling from ear to ear with their cuteness.
the first 20 minutes of the last episode was really rush, i'd admit. i was so shocked with all the things happening so i was like, err, what is this? but then the three's cameo showed up and i was suddenly so in love with it HAHA i guess i just really miss them so much and the thought of not seeing them in the last ep is killing me. that was such a brilliant move! in the end, i declare that this has one of the best ending despite the first few minutes. totally lived up to what they initially offered on the first episode.
this is the kind of entertaining romance drama that i need. overall, i enjoyed the show more than i though i would. didn't hesitate to immediately give it 100/10 for this is the best drama that i've seen this year!

One of the Best Dramas of 2020.
This is definitely one of the best Korean drama that I have ever watch. It's a literal roller coaster ride that would always leave you breathless in every episode to the point that a calm scene will scare the shit out of you. Really, don't expect an episode without chaos haha. You'd laugh, cry and feel the love in it. I was just really thinking that I'd watch it at a past time, you know. I didn't expect to get too attached to it since I just really found it interesting. But I never expected to be in too deep in it. Once I started, I never know how to stop myself from watching. There are a lot of things that I really really love about this drama but I want this review as spoiler-free as possible because if you're thinking of watching it, then definitely go! No regrets, it's worth it, I swear. But please prepare tissues and prepare your heart.
One of my favorite thing in this drama is the trio. The Baek family. Baek Hee Seung, Cha Ji Won, and of course, the ever-lovable Baek Eun Ha. I really can't move on with their bond as a family. It feels heartwarming every time that they're complete on-screen and having a good time, but it's scary at the same time, you know. There's always this fear for what will happen in the next episodes and how would they overcome the struggles to come. You would really want to protect them as a family at all costs. They don't have to be vocal about how much they love each other because you could feel it in their actions. And I think that's one of the best things about it. There's no cheesy or over the top dialogues to express their love, their action speaks for it.
It is my first drama of Lee Joon Gi and I am beyond impress. I didn't expect him to be that good. And also Moon Chae Woon! They all nailed their characters. I couldn't think of any other fitting characters for their roles other than them. The emotions are there in their eyes. The pain, sorrow, struggle. I especially want to commend Joon Gi for his excellent act. I was so carried away with his acting. The two's chemistry is also... wow. I couldn't get over it. You would think they're really married haha. Special mention to Episode 11. Goodness, gracious. Their acting is truly phenomenal.
Let's talk about the plot. Wow. It was the first thing that really tickled my interest and I never regret picking it up. Most of the scenes would really leave you breathless, scared, and crying. The story was really unpredictable with every twist and turn. I love how their actions really reflected the scenes that happened. Also, the OSTs are so beautiful! I also love how they gradually unfold the past relationship of the two that made me connect with them even more.
Some might be disappointed with the ending, but it's just perfect for me-- or maybe almost. If they only give me few more scenes showing the family's bonding again then it would be perfect. For me, the ending was the right ending for all of them. Knowing everything that Hee Seung went through, if I am him, I think I would just also choose to forget it all. And I think it was just perfect timing for them to start anew. You know, it's time for him to love his family as him-- as who he really is and not someone else. I don't want him or anyone else to be haunted by the horrible past that they have gone through for months and years. I did complain at first, but gradually I realized that it's just the ending that they all deserve.
Well, that's all. I tried to make it as spoiler-free as possible haha. If you're planning to watch it, then go! You won't regret it, I swear. Truly one of the best Korean dramas of 2020.

It's Okay, That's Love

One of the best.
A breath of fresh air. Like a white rose that stands out from a red rose garden. It's Okay, That's Love is a drama that don't need to have a crazy love triangle, amnesia, or 'us-against-all-odds' to be dramatic— but refreshing at the same time. The chemistry is flattering, overwhelming and insane. You would see them bickering at times but you could say that's because some of their personalities really contradicts with each other. But those love scenes? Chef's kiss. Raw. Soulful. The wholeness of their characters is beyond commendable, too. I love how they are not made two-dimensional and flawless. It feels like they are normal and real people with hidden battles. Here are the good and bad points that I pointed out on the drama that I could still remember. Let's start with the bad points:
1. The two leads fight and bicker a lot on the first episodes that you might find it annoying.
2. There are force kissed scenes, which is not a really good thing for me, considering how Jae Yeol knows about the heroine's case.
3. There's a really awkward and weird relationships between the characters.
4. The cinematography could have been better, at least for me.
I think there's more but I forgot about them since it's been months since I finished watching it.
Moving forward to the good points!
1. The character. Not just the heroine, not just the lead— but everyone. The acting is just really spectacular. You could see those raw emotions in their eyes, I especially commend Jo In Sung, D.O and Gong Hyo Jin. I want to drop my favorite scenes were I was really awestruck and carried away by the scene but I want to keep this spoiler free.
2. Their relationship's maturity. I really love how they handled their relationship. Especially that there is no dramatic or over the top break ups that happened.
3. Han Kang Woo and Jang Jae Yeol. Sorry, but I have to mention it again. I cannot just skip it. All their scenes together, especially those last parts. Oh goodness. You can not be not move by it. I was in tears the whole time.
4. The whole concept and plot. I love how they tackled sensitive topics about mental health and illnesses that are not commonly put in dramas. It is not in a way that you will find insulting. They incorporated it well with the things that are happening.
5. The OST! The music is well incorporated with the scene and I guess one of the factors why it has that refreshing vibe. I still listen to the songs on this drama as I am really in love and could connect with them.
Considering that this drama is made years ago, I could say that it greatly stands out— and still stands out— from the other dramas. I would love to see a remake of it with better shots and plot but same actors. It's Okay, That's Love is totally unforgettable. The whole drama is a roller coaster ride, to be honest. You'd laugh and cry at the same time. It's definitely worth watching.

well, at least it's thrilling
finished: Crime Puzzle // mystery, action, thriller, cult // Yoon Kye Seung, Go Ah Sung // 7/10i was looking for some fast paced, thrilling drama and i think this once was able to give me that entertainment at least at the first half. i actually expected more from it, some mind games, hard to solve mysteries and different cases base on the title (and i didnt look at the MDL raring beforehand), but it was disappointing in that part. there's not much mind game, and although the characters are portrayed to be smart, they dont seem that way. there are many times that they did really stupid things, esp the FL.
although the acting from the actors are amazing, the action and thriller are really on point and the first half of the drama has a potential, things just went downhill by the second half. it feels like they just decides to drag things, with all the characters who are supposed to be smart suddenly acting so stupid.
honestly, the ML's goal was clear, and i understand why he's doing things. but just it feels like there's something missing, the soul overall of the story. i know the character's reasons and intentions, but not in a deeper sense which hinders from truly connecting with them, in a way that i cannot really deeply, root for them and feel their vulnerability as a character.
also, i know that they want to show how bad this people are, but like the killing spree is a bit too much. one thing that they also forget to explain more is the cult itself, e.g. what are their beliefs? what do they do to brainwashed this much people, who are even willing to k1ll3d themseleves for them, commit that *sin, watch someone d13 in front of them? what made them believe that this filthy, horny, old man is the Messiah? honestly, i would have believed it more if the female villain is actually just after the money rather than her faith. i just cant see what made them believe in that cult. as the center of the plot, the writers should have focused more on that one rather than giving us so many deaths.
the punishment for those criminals are also not enough for me. plus the fact that the other part of that cult werent even caught (seems like theyre also even trying to put a season 2 with that ending) it's just so questionable? like, how come they didn't all fall down? no one even realized that that old man actually has a family, hellooooo??? i feel so bad for what happened to seong pil, and the chief inspector didnt even tell anything about su bin HELLO?!?!?!?
the first half was good, i enjoyed the actor's performance (found a new actor to add on my watchlist HAHA Chocolate, welcome to my never ending plan to watch list) although they didnt live up with what the title has offered. if only they continued that, i would have give it a higher rating. anyhow, i enjoyed the thriller part and the production, editing, and OSTs are on point so 7 it is.

immeasurable chemistry that saved the drama
if not only for the amazing, heart fluttering chemistry of the main leads, i would have dropped this drama long ago. oh, and cha dol, too. it's been so long since i've watched a drama (CLOY was the last) wherein their stare alone could make my heart melt. their affectionate stare for each other... oh my god. pls, it's making me ship them in real life🥲anyway, the plot, character's action and words (esp Ba Wu) at the first episodes are truly problematic. so many times that i really just want to slap him in the face. and honestly, if in reality i met someone like him, i wont even think of falling in love with that kind of man despite his reasons lol. thank goodness it's fiction.
which brings me to the point that if only not for Cha Dol and the main leads (thanks to the actors) amazing chemistry, i was able to finish watching the drama. i was glad, too, that after the first few episodes that Ba Wu was such a jerk, his character drastically improved for the better.
i definitely prefered the first half more when they're hiding and poor. just the 5 of them together. tho, i know that the palace dramas and all that are needed because they cant hide forever (ironic because that still became the case towards the end haha) i dont really even care about the palace drama. actually, i dont even remember much of the plot, all i know is that i'm watching Yu Ri, Il Woo and Dong Ha😂
this is my first Yu Ri and Il Woo drama and i just want to give a huge round of applause, because, man, you truly saved the show. i dont even like bearded man, but boy, Jung Il Woo is so sexy with that beard. and honestly, i prefer the Ba Wu appearance more. bearded Jung Il Woo supremacy HAHA his acting was phenomenal, too. he fleshed our Kim Dae Seok/Ba Wu's character so well. his micro expressions, the way his lips curve ever so slightly, how he stares at the Princess, how he cry and all, he definitely nailed it. cant even imagine someone acting as Ba Wu other than him.
Kwon Yuri's portrayal of Princess Hwa In was amazing, too. she was beautiful even with her crying scene. her aura and appearance is perfect for the princess, brave, kind and fearless. and she definitely have chemistry with almost everyone.
lastly, Ko Dong Ha (Cha Dol) is the highlight of this show! such a promising young actor. i love him so much already. so many times that i want to squish his cheeks and hide him in my pocket. i honestly prefered the first half because there are more screentime for this trio being together than the second half where Cha Dol is getting less and less screentime.
tho i didnt like the plot and story as much, there are still scenes that truly captivates me. thanks to the amazing cinematography, too, i was able to appreciate it more.
spoilers ahead: special mention to the scene where the princess fell on the sea and they shot it as if she's a falling flower.
one of my favorite scene is when Ba Wu was captured. the way that his face lit up when Hwa In called him by his name for the first time despite being held by the guards, Jung Il Woo's expression was truly amazing with that. in between his fear, you can see how somehow, there's hope and happiness in his eyes hearing his name from her lips. lastly, and my most favorite, is the prison scene, i'm truly speechless watching that. it just feels so raw and pure. and you can truly feel their love, understanding and sincerity for each other. i may or may not tear up watching him trying to wipe away her tears with his tied hands, and how he cried for the first time while holding her hand.
indeed, there are a lot of times where i shout at my screen THAT IS THE MOMENT THAT YOU SHOULD HAVE KISSED HER! just watching at how they look at each other, and the number of hugs that they shared, i think i'm good with that. anyhow, they're not living in the modern era so that's totally understandable, plus the fact that she's a Princess so surely, he was being cautious.
20 chapters is already long for me, but it's still not enough so i'm truly truly glad to hear them starring together in a new drama which will be aired very soon! i just hope that i can still see them reunite with Cha Dol, too, and see bearded Jung Il Woo😭

and can we talk about the chemistry??? because EXCUSE ME I AM SO SATISFIED!!! this must be one of the best friends-but-we-actually-like-each-other trope that i've ever encountered that really gave them the perfect ending that they deserve. i was really wishing for even just a bit more skinship, even just a hug and they gave it during THOSE SCENE. i was like EXCUSE ME??????😭😭
i'll admit that i was devastated with the first half of the ending because i was like NOOOOO it can't be!!! and then they did THAT. i thought i would be really disappointed and frustrated but they redeemed it with that last scene. i love how unique, bitter, sweet and right the ending was.
of course there were some loopholes, but they didn't really bother me that much. it didn't take away the beauty of this drama. so if you're hesitating to watch, then don't think anymore and just watch it!
on my way to watch more Lee Joon Hyuk drama<3

One of the best heartwarming drama
Thirty But Seventeen (Still 17) is definitely a must watch! Especially if you're looking for a heartwarming, romance drama. The actors (Hye Sun and Se Jong), characters, and music, are all amazing! Their relationship is one of a kind. A healthy one and always supporting each other.I honestly super love their relationship. Woo Jin was always supportive of Seo Ri to whatever decision and choices she makes. He respects it all. He worries about her a lot but he acknowledge that she's also capable of doing things on her own and can stand in her own feet.
Some find Seo Ri's character immature, but I think her immature actions at the start were justified after what happened. Anyway, her character developed very well towards the end. Her character's transition from being a 17 years old in mind to a 30 years old adult was well made.
She did her best to stand in her own feet and become independent (tho I hope she was really given a chance to live on her own). She accepted the things that happened and decided to move forward instead of being stuck in the past.
I really hate love triangles but this one's different. They were able to pull it off nicely and didn't make it toxic (like some love triangle tropes). Chan and his friends are adorable. Chan and Mr. Gong's relationship was heartwarming, too. Jennifer, too. I love her so much.
It has one of the best ending. Everything ended so well and in a good note. I'm so glad that Rin Kim found her own happiness towards the end. They're passion for music was so amazing and encouraging. Every character made a huge impact and became a better version of themselves.
I hope more people will watch and recognize this drama. It might not have the best plot, but trust me, the character's are well made you'd surely love them. Yang Se Jong and Shin Hye Sun gave life to Woo Jin and Seo Ri's character just like everyone else.
Well, I guess this is the sign for you to watch Still17/Thirty But Seventeen if you want some feel good drama to make your heart warm! I'm so glad I found an inspiration for my next novel haha. Gotta go now to find my Crescendo (aka Yang Se Jong HAHA)💖

Would have been better if Xiarong didn't show up.
I would say that it's really good. I was really interested with the trailer that's why I watched it plus it's Hu Yi Tian. I really stayed for him lol. I haven't watched many revenge themed dramas so I'm fine with it. The first episodes are great for me. I'd say that I really like plots where the leads are solving problems/mysteries. I love the four, I love their friendship. Have nothing to say with the chemistry of two, love it. And yes, at the first episodes, or the first time that they got together, there are really instances that Yi Tian or Gao Shan is trying to manipulate Lin Wo. Though at the middle, after they broke up the first time, I could see the changes to both of them. Afterall it was part of the reason that Lin Wo was always inferior when they broke up. At first all Gao Shan had in mind is to have his revenge not until he really fell for her. I actually love the character development, not only to the two main leads but as well to Su Yuan and Alisa. That's a good point for me. Plus, love how they used the cases that they solved as a way to give development to their characters and bond. Some might say that it is dragging at the first half but it's fine for me. Really, I would give the first half of it a 9/10. Everything just went downhill after the existance of Bei Xiarong. He ruined it. Liked, literally. I'm not really a fan of love triangles, I hate him so much. I skimmed through episodes 34-37 because of Xiarong. Yes, I'm blaming all the mess to him, yes I hate him to core, yes I'm biased. Seeing his face makes my blood boil, seriously. Episodes 33-36 was painfully dragging for me. I really can't stand the face of Xiarong. The drama would have been shorter if not for him. The couple, for me, was really strong and holding on to their relationship especially after seeing how they deal with the truth on Episode 30. Things just really got messy because of Xiarong, had he not told the delivery to come earlier, then there would be no mess. Just thinking of it still makes me so frustrated. But well, I guess that's really how drama works, I told myself and hold on to it (seriously I'm on the verge of dropping it). I tried to shake off my irritation, but to my disappointment, Lin Wo just forgave him THAT fast. And he wasn't even punished for what he did!! She was so mad when it came to Gao Shan then she just let it slipped so easily when it came to Xiarong. Also, I can't see any purpose of his character besides being obsessively in love with Lin Wo and ruining their relationship to drag the drama even more. I might exceed the word limit if I continuously rant about him and it still won't be enough to discuss my annoyance with his character. Well, moving on, the last things that I'd just drop here is how quick the proposals are haha. Or maybe it's just me? Think it would have been better if they dated for a few more months after what happened, you know. Also, why did Sun Miao's son didn't grow up? He's still seems to be the same kid haha. Guess I'd wrapped it here then. I'm really disappointed with the last parts and how it went down the hill. Really liked the first parts, sighs. Actually planning to rewatch it but after seeing the second half, well, no thanks haha. Still, I think it's a good watch if you're not bothered with love triangles and annoying character like Xiarong. I just really came for Hu Yitian, though haha. Well, at least I don't regret that I watched it and I'm satisfied seeing him and watching their chemistry.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

i really expected a lot from this drama seeing how many people are recommending it and praising it. however, it didn't really live up to my expectation.
for a plot-driven drama, i find it average. there's really nothing so extravagant to it that makes it shine among the rest. the cases are good, makes me wonder who the killer is, but that's just it. there are also some glaring loopholes, tho not so many. i think they managed to execute the plot well in the end.
second, i couldn't really connect to the drama. i was expecting that it would, like hypnotize and totally pull me in for a mystery drama. but it didn't. one reason that i could think of is that it's lacking with the character aspect. si-mok and yeo jin are amazing characters, no doubt. and the acting was good too. however, their backstory, personality, goal, drive, fear, you know, it was lacking in that aspect. there are a lot of things going on but i don't know why it matters to these characters, and why would it matter to me too. i was waiting for that moment where i would see why they cares for these cases so much, except the fact of course that it's their job and responsibility. there's just nothing connecting the plot, the cases to the characters that would make the drama even stronger in my opinion. si-mok character is already interesting, and i was expecting that they would try to delve deeper into his past and his conflicts as someone who can't perceive emotions. but there's just nothing. and yeo jin, i really like her character, strong and bold. but her character literally has nothing in it. she has no family background, internal conflict, fear, goals (prior to her meeting the old woman) there's just nothing but Yeo Jin being Yeo Jin. i want to know more about her but the writer didn't give me the opportunity to know her.
on the contrary, i find the antagonist (if you can call them one) more interesting than those two. especially the one who jumped (if you know, you know haha) his back story, his drive, motivation and his goal. it's really great. and the one who-dunnit his motivations too, goals, reasons, fears, conflicts and suffering, so so great. i hope that the writer applied the same thing to the main leads so that as a viewer, i could connect to the story more.
that being said. i think it's a decent watch. not that much but i still like it. and thank goodness there's a hidden chemistry between Yeo Jin and Si-Mok because without it, i don't think i'd manage to finish this one.

the drama is really intriguing and unique on its own. i like the storytelling although it may be confusing for some. but it's really a hit for me as it keeps me guessing all the time. they also did well with the cliffhangers on each part and that helps to keep the story interesting.
the concept and message of the drama, especially regarding our memories was really brilliant for me. i like how it also makes me think, and reflect my stand about them. but i definitely agree with Ho Soo's statement in this:
"Memory equals responsibility, memory equals justice. Although it was sad, we must still remember them. That's how we get angry, and that's how justice is served. Just because we forget them means that we can undo what had been done."
i like the bromance, may it be present or past. the ep12 scene of the twin really made me cry. i could feel both their desperation to unite with each other even though beom gyeon has forgotten him.
the subtle romance was just okay. tho i ship the 2037 min young and beom gyun rather than than woo jin and jeong yeon. i find it irritating at first that there has to be a subtle romance with woojin and jeong yeon, but i think it serves its purpose. it's nice that they didnt try to put some awkward or out of place romantic elements.
the actors also did an excellent job. yeo jin and kim kang woo's acting are fantastic and they really let me dwell into their characters.
there are some glaring plotholes towards the end, but nonetheless the drama is decent enough. i was actually hoping that this would receive more appreciation. it may not be perfect but this is better than some other. i am not a fan of sci-fi but this definitely made me want to pick up more sci-fi dramas.
also side note, the villain's *** is the most perfect. totally deserve hahahaha

i'd start off with the flaws.
- the initial theme of this drama is about this mortals counters who are bound to catch and summon evil spirits. however, i feel like the drama focus much about politics and corruption other than catching spirits. although there's a connection between those spirits and politics, i was just hoping that they kinda stayed true what they are supposed to be. i think they didn't even catch more than 5 spirits? since they focused more on catching Cheong-sin and the girl. i wished they were just more.
- i wasn't too heartbroken by the punishment that they receive because they've violated too many rules even though they have reasons. at some point, the rules that Yung created seems to be mere decoration. although they were punished for violating them, it just feels as if they were beginners to ignore too many rules. but i'm glad that it served as a lesson for them to be better esp Mun since he was getting out of hand at times.
so far those are all the flaws that really bothered me. there are actually more smaller plotholes but i don't want to mention them yet as i'm hoping that they'd be answered by the second season.
moving on to the good points.
- THE WHOLE TEAM. yep. that's right. the best thing in this drama is the whole team and the way that their characters were fleshed out. it's just so rare to see a main lead having such a great chemistry with everyone, may it be Mo Tak, Ms. Chu, Mr. Chairmain and of course, Ha Na. and these people interact with each other in such a heartwarming-- aaaaa, i can't even describe. i want to each and everyone of them safe.
- Hana and So Mun. my god, i can't believe i'm watching an OCN drama. i feel like they're spilling us too much with these heaven sent chemistry that it's starting to make me feel anxious with what they have in their sleeves for the next season. please don't break them apart. come on, OCN, just give it to us for the next season. kidding aside, that subtle teasing and gestures and actions of the two, my god i'm melting. i love the fact that Ha Na's character develop, being more open to people, smiling, remembering her family and of course allowing someone to touch her finally-- yes i'm talking abut So Mun, thank you very much.
- the oh so satisfying revenge and catching ghost scenes. i can't stop myself from laughing whenever they catch those bastards.
- the ending. damn. that start of episode 16? that was the thriller that i've been waiting for in this. i've pinched my sister so hard that we almost end up fighting. lol. that was the best and one of the most satisfying thriller scene, ever. i love the fact that they put back So Mun's limp as he beat the hell out of that devil. and the rest of the episode? one of the best and most satisfying ending ever. i dn't care if it looks like a fan service with all things too good, i think it just stayed true to its theme as this is not like the usual dark and twisted OCN. i couldn't ask for more with that ending.
i've never had the urge to rewatch a drama after watching this (i don't rewatch). and i will surely be waiting for the second season, hoping that it would focus more on them catching ghost and some progress *ehem* Ha Na x Mun *ehem*. this is definitely a drama for you if you're looking for something suspenseful but lighthearted and comedic toned.

I watched this drama only knowing bits about it. i was really curious of the premise. a detective, a psychic and a priest, what a strange and great combination. i am not a fan of horror, but i still expect some scary shits here as it was the genre. and it definitely gave what i needed.the exorcisms are so intense, they are like the real horror of this film. i was holding my breath the whole time they're exorcising. i knew that light will still overcome the darkness, but the fear is still there. they did a great job building up those scenes, from the lightning, the mood and the atmosphere, even the soundtrack. it was all perfect. really, OCN's soundtracks never disappoint. just hearing the song reminds me of it like the other OCN dramas that i've watched.
tho those exorcism scenes were great, i do agree with others that this would have fit better with just 12 eps. i feel like the other exorcism scenes were mere fillers as they doesnt really connect well to move the plot.
the twist and turns definitely got me. they did a great job for those whodunnit scene, giving us mindblowing revelations and all that.
although hwa pyung is the center of this drama, he's the least that i like from the three. i just feel like he's too self-centered at some point, and too reckless. i love choi yoon and gil young very much. their characters were much interesting for me. maybe because there are a lot of stakes on Gil Young and Mateo's part. specially on Mateo. but then, their friendship was very special. i really thought it would be fine for me if one of them will have to die and sacrifice his life at the end, but when that point came, i realized that i cannot see only two of the three left. i was praying along with Mateo for all of them to be saved. like seriously hahaha.
also, special mention to Yukgwang. his friendship with Hwa Pyung is so underrated. i actually like their friendship more than Hwa Pyung and Mateo. Yukgwang never once doubted him, and even sacrificed his life for him. i hate that i know the existence of his character is only to save HP, leaving him to die just like that. he deserves more.
this film tackled religious beliefs and the Catholic religion, however, it feels lacking at times. Mateo is a priest, but i can only feel that connection that he has with God during exorcism scenes. maybe it's because as a Catholic myself, i expected more of it. i was hoping and waiting for him to pray and ask for God's help and guidance esp after he had received that prophecy in the beginning.
moving on to the finale, i certainly didnt expect father yang to die immediately, and yes it's because i thought he was park il-do. but then, if it's not him, how come that the supposed to be zombie apocalypse suddenly stop? i know it didnt fully stop, but how did they suddenly came to their senses when park il-do is alive? just to mislead the audience? one thing i noticed is that there are scenes that they put just to purposedly mislead the audience, but it doesnt make scene when that revelation came up. e.g, the above mentioned scene, park hong joo vomitting after holding the rosary, Priest Yang suddenly making people possessed after holding their hand when he's not even possessed himself, Priest Yang damaging the bible (a sign of possession accrdg to Mateo himself).
the revelation scene with HP grandfather is just so-so for me. yes, i was mind blown by them but i felt like it was spilled too much that it kinda left nothing for me to think and analyze of. maybe it's just me, too, since i prefer to connect the dots hahaha. but i wasnt swayed with the grandfather's acting. i was actually more scared of Bong Sang's possession scene than that one. and it doesnt help that it was daytime when that happened. tho that dreamy and hazy background effect that they put helped to build it up, it wasnt enough. it's not the kind of revelation scene with park il do that i expected. dont get me wrong, i really really love his grandfather and was hoping that he wont die. but his acting being park il do was just really a meh for me. also, what the hell's with that sudden cut? they had completely build up this atmosphere and then suddenly cut it, shifting it back to the real world.
there are still so many things that left me confuse. e.g. whose body is buried in their house? whose body is his grandfather digging up? why did Priest Choi said "stay away from your son" to HP's father when HP is not even possessed? how exactly did Park Il Do managed to brainwash Priest Yang?
having said that, the only redeeming part of the finale for me is the sea scene. i cried damn lot during those scene. i was gripping on my seat while waiting for the story to unfold. and that drowning scene of Hwa Pyung and Mateo? brilliant. i love love every bits of it. especially after seeing how Hwa Pyung wore that rosary towards the end.
despite the flaws, i actually kinda like how things wrapped up. it was not completely solved and all good, which i think, is just perfect for its genre and theme. it was a realistic as i'm sure as heck that that kind of evil sprit cant be defeated so easily. park hong joo not being caught is frustrating yes, but it was realistic as it would be hard to beat her, too. for me, the end was hinting for a second season, and at the same time just leaving something for our imagination and own interpretation.
light may have prevailed towards the end, but there will always be looming darkness, just waiting for the perfect moment to eat us alive.
