THIS IS ALL OPINIONS.

I started watching this because it was recommended to me on YouTube. I stayed because of Leo Luo, who plays Rong Qi, and Jing Chao, who plays Fu Chou. Although Leo doesnt have a lot of screen time and his character has pretty much no character development, his acting skills makes me want to watch him more. He deserves more attention. Anyway, Jing is also a great actor. He character, put it nicely, isn’t the most likeable, but he makes me sympathize for his situation. This is my first time watching something of his and I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for more of his shows. Both him and Leo are great actors. Their expressions were so good!

Sophie Zhang, who plays Rong Le/Man Yao, does a decent job. I have to say, i think her crying scenes in the last couple of episodes are extremely heartbreaking. Like, seeing her cry after realizing that Rong Qi scarificed himself for her and they past together left me in tears.

Aarif Rahman, who plays Zongzheng Wu You, in my opinion, is the weakest actor among the main roles. I find his acting to be more rigid and awkward than the other leads, and by other leads, i mean Sophie because Leo and Jing are great. Some of his scenes whether supposed to be sweet or not, makes me feel uncomfortable. Again, it might just be me. Along with that, I don’t like his character at all. Although he claims to love Man Yao, he shames her in front of others, just when she was going to marry Fu Chou, by saying he had sex with her. I can’t express how mad I was when I watched that scene. I think he might be my least favorite in the whole show.

Man Yao and Wu You lacked a lot of chemistry. Their love story felt extremely forced, awkward, and unrealistic. Both parties hid so much from each other, kind of went out of their way to hurt the other, but still ended up “inseparable.” In the end, I was actually rooting for Man Yao to stay in the house that she used to spend time with Rong Qi in, and not return to Wu You. Which, even in other dramas— even when i favor the second lead— has never happened before. Their interactions are supposed to be cute and heartwarming e.g. holding hands as they go through so many obstacles, but it made me feel uncomfortable because the chemistry was just off.

Wu Yu’s love life was another reason why I decided to stay with the drama. His first relationship left me in tears— I’m a little bit of a crybaby— they both were so innocent and cute, i was rooting for them. When that didn’t go as planned, i was heartbroken. I’m glad that he found a new love, though. They are also very cute together.

Overall, I probably wouldn’t watch this again. The storyline is not great, along with the character development. It’s a shame that the leads’ performance was not as good as some of the supporting actors and actresses.
