Goodbyes that lead to another goodbye!
When I picked this drama up, I was in the mood for experimenting something new and something soothing. And to my surprise, the drama did offer a fresh set of eyes to my weary mind momentarily. The beginning was really interesting, but perhaps, the most interesting part of the whole drama. My takeaway from the drama:
As the story unfolds, we get to see how strangers become part of your story and then your life. You see, sometimes we get stuck inside our head, inside our space and we are unable to find a way out. In those moments of entrapment, perhaps, our only way out is by letting someone in. Because clarity sometimes come from a new perspective, new people, and new place.
Story points:
All in all, the main plot felt overused. It dragged the main story longer than it should have. That's why, I grew fonder of the side-stories. Two in particular I loved the most - the writer and the publisher's story and the guesthouse owner's story! They definitely outgrew the main story and you will find yourself stuck by the drama for them, at the very least. Also, the cultural vibe is really strong with this drama. It offers a non-traditional Korean outlook along with the Japanese and State (USA) backdrops since the male and female lead have a work-history there. Lastly, the music score is very impressive. It binds you to the emotions in the scenes.
I probably won't recommend this drama in our time since we have one to many of this sort with higher overall score. But none the less, this is a solid 7.
Cheers! And if you loved this drama then go watch "When the weather is fine". You will love it even more.
