Some people have said Rich Man, Poor Woman looks like a kdrama, and maybe it’s half true, but Oguri Shun portrays Hyuga Toru like a boss. Ishihara Satomi is just too pretty and adorable. You can’t possibly not to love it if you have a thing for romantic dramas, despite all the eventual korean-ness. At the beginning of the ep I was afraid this was gonna be a Protect the Boss-wannabe drama. You know, the fussy, rich and somewhat rude boss on one hand and the poor, hard-working and vexed employee on the other. Hyuga Toru also has an inability, the prosopagnosia (He has problems remembering faces), which draws his character closer to Cha Ji Heon in Protect the Boss, even if the latter has agoraphobia. Or fear of speaking in front of crowds, can’t remember well now. But still. It seems to me that more and more characters, if they’re meant to be the cocky main lead, they have to have some clinical problems. I mean, LOL. Take also Hwang Tae Kyung in You’re Beautiful: he suffers from the fear to be infected or get dirty by other people, several allergies, night blindness, problems of social relationship since he avoids physical contact and has problems dealing with feelings. Oh, and he’s obsessed with order and perfection So. I’d say Hyuga Toru is not the worst complexed guy in dramas :D The only thing that disappointed me is that they keep making ARATA look like an ojisan. It really gets on my nerves, because I’ve known him with Snakes & Earrings and he was so charming back then. I liked him in Blue Automobile, too. But in Hanamizuki and Mitsu no Aji they glued to him that ojisan-feeling, as if he weren’t young and able to be cool anymore.
