The ending isn't as confusing as it seems
It took me a minute to understand the ending, because it actually wasn't the ending - it was the beginning, before ZiRun left for the war. It was the first time ZiRun, WanRou and ShaoLi were all in the same space at the same time. Deductive reasoning makes me think what would have followed would have been the guy in her audience (ShaoLi) would have followed ZiRun to war, died at his side and then ZiRun took his face because his own had been damaged too badly and to discover who had betrayed him. They said from the start that Mu ShaoLi worked his way to the top from nothing quite quickly. This is why no one questioned anything about him and he was the ideal identity for ZiRun to adopt upon his return at the start of the series, or why he was so passionate about avenging her supposed betrayal of the man she loved. He kept bringing it up and she couldn't understand why.Overall it was entertaining, if more than a little on the unrelatable side. The bad guys were a bit cliche with the main one's 'I'm evil' cackle at the end of every sentence, and his 'pick me' entitled little sister who needed some serious psych evaluation. Some scenes were a bit hard to watch, but the internal conflict of the characters did bleed off the screen, so that always makes for good viewing.
