The color blue will go down in history as the best one
10/10 doesn't do justice to "Our Blues" in my opinion. I started this show intrigued with the first storyline presented, not knowing i was gonna get attached and enjoy every single story and character through out the 20 episodes. I don't want to sound like a broken record so i will structure my review in 4 parts: Favorite aspects of the show, favorite storylines, favorite episodes and why i think its a must watch in general.1) Favorite aspects of the show:
- The cinematography takes you to the world presented and makes you feel like you are in there. The colors not only help represent the moods, feelings and plot points that are being shown, but also creates a particular environment that screams Jeju.
- The pacing of each episode and different storylines. It's so well paced that each hour and so feels lo well constructed, never boring and so engaging. Each storyline is kind of divided with each one having around 2-4 episodes depending on its importance to the progression of the show. No matter big or small, all storylines and moments are given 100% care.
- The writing and very realistic dialogue. One of thing i hate about kdramas is how unrealistic sometimes the dialogue feels. In Our Blues, each line hits but not to the point that it feels pretentious or snobby. The way each character has their own story or is connected to a particular point feels so well structured and never messy. It all comes down to a town in which almost everyone knows each other but each of them have different connections.
- The acting. Some of the best acting i've seen in years, the actors truly gave it their all and made us feel like those situations were happening to us in some capacity. There is such a strong accentuation on acting through expressions and silence, that not a lot of dramas can pull off, Our Blues does that to perfection. Special shout out to the actors Lee Byun Hun, Kim Woo Bin, Lee Jung Eun, Kim Hye Ja and Go Doo Shim.
- I could honestly list the whole show as my favorite aspects of it so i'll stop here lol.
2) Favorite Storylines:
- Son and Mother between Lee Dong Seok and Kang Ok Dong
- Sisters between Lee Young Ok and Lee Yeong-Hui
- Soon to be parents between Bang Yeong-Ju and Jung Hyeon
- Grandma and grand daughter between Hyeon Chun-Hui and Son Eun-Gi
3) Favorite episodes: 1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20. (almost all lol)
4) Why i think it's a must watch for everyone:
I can't believe how a lot of people on twitter said this show was boring or something like that, im sorry but their opinions are wrong lol. This show has better pace than most shows that seem "fun" or "entertaining" to most kdrama stans. It gives you an insight on different perspectives of different age groups of people, I feel like so little dramas are able to achieve that. It's objective is not to the audience a lesson or preach anything, they want you to be able to enjoy and understand how life can be for so many people that reside in a singular place. Also, its a gorgeous example of well done cinema/tv that anyone interested in it should learn from.
Our Blues, one of the best kdramas of all time in my opinion.

Like a combination of a museum painting and a 24 hour long masterpiece of a movie
9.5/10Writing a review for Mr.Sunshine is so hard because i don't know how to describe how it made me feel or how to articulate how good it is. Definitely the greatest historical drama or tv show i have ever watched. I''ll keep this review short in order to try to convey what i loved and why it feels like a painting + a masterpiece of a movie.
Maybe some of the best character driven shows? I know it sounds weird since is a show that is mostly moved by its plot points an historical events. But this plots and events would be nothing without how the characters are written and loved by the people that wrote this show. When i say that the people that wrote this show love the characters is obviously not because of their fates or happy things (if you watched the show you know this people go through hell and beyond), when i say it i mean that each character is given such depth and layers that made them feel beyond human.
One of the best love stories ever written hands down. Its the power of their dialogue, touches, glances and the overall chemistry between the leads that convey some of the most painful yet beautiful romances i have seen.
Some of the most interesting depictions of historical events, how they build up to a climax and how they affect everyone's life no matter how much involvement they had. There is not plot hole or moment you go "that comes out of nowhere" or "that doesn't make sense". HOWEVER, here comes the reason why i gave this show a 9.5 and not a 10. The pacing was so well done BUT in some middle episodes, specially between episode 10 - 15. I struggled a bit to get through does episodes and i think it has to do with the idea of "building" towards something. Now, its not the shows fault entirely. Those plot points in those episodes are important, but they are more of the part that builds towards the third act of the show, one of the best acts of the show. I think the pacing could have been done better in those episodes cause it were a little difficult to get into. STILL, the payoff was beyond excellent.
NOW, here is what i mean by a combination of a museum painting and a 24 hour long masterpiece of a movie. If you take all the things i mentioned prior and give them one of the key ingredients, the cinematography and direction in general, this show is unmatched. Just as a museum painting, it is a whole finished picture that can de studied and looked at forever and you will still find new things and beauty about it. And because of the direction of the show in general, and by that i mean the work of the director and how they decided to tell each shot, scene, arc, etc, is that this show feels like a masterpiece of a movie. This show feels like a love letter to Korea, but even if you don't know anything about Korea or have never been there, you can still feel the message of be proud of where you come from and be proud that you are part of what makes history exist.
Hope everyone gives this show a shot even if a lot of people are scared or put off by historical dramas. This show is what every kdrama or piece of media in general should be: stories that from start to finish were given 100% of effort, love, creativity and importance.

Love All Play: not as good as i hoped it would be but still a good experience
7.5/10
If i were to grade the first 8 or 9 episodes of the show i would give this show a solid 8.5/10 but the last 7 episodes fell short for me for some reasons.
Things i loved:
-The plot overall is very engaging and kind of refreshing. Its nice to follow Taeyang and her struggle with her past actions and overcoming her guilt with what she did to Taejun's sister.
-The romance as friend to lovers: The progression from friends to lovers between Taeyang and Taejun was so beautiful, realistic and new.
-The subplots worked: the second lead couple, the other Yunis players.
-The cinematography was beautiful and i felt like it reflected well the themes of the show.
-The emotional and more serious tone of the show was when it was at is best. The characters felt real when dealing with different things.
-The relationship between the captain of Yunis and Yeong Shim, they felt so realistic and mature it was so refreshing.
Things that didn't work for me:
- The comedy: the comedic timing of the show felt very force, cringy and sometimes even annoying. the show falls kind of flat when it comes to the scenes were it tries to be this weird youth comedy.
-The acting: It was actually good in the serious moments but a lot of the times the acting was bad or very forced.
- The actual romance of Taeyang and Taejun: It came to a point were their romance felt a bit annoying and dragging. The same issues came multiple times and they took a big part of the show. The chemistry started lacking in comparison to the friends to lovers arc.
-The pacing of the second half of the show: Honestly, the show would've benefited from a shorter run like 12 episodes.
Overall, it was a really good show and when you look at it as a whole it does feel fresh and comforting. however, when you start paying attention to the details, you start seeing the faults and bad parts. It was a good watch and i do recommend it but some people make it look like it was a 10/10 when it sure wasn't.
