If you really want to watch Ouran High School Host Club, I would suggest you to watch the anime or read the manga only or watch the live adaptation before you do either of those. Cause for me the anime and the manga were much better.
Well, to start, when I first started the live adaptation series, the first few episodes were really cringey to me. Probably because i was more used to the anime version that everything in the live adaptation seemed too extra and exaggerated. Yet at the same time it was really hilarious. I still went because it was really funny.
Also the only character i felt was well suited was kyoya senpai (not in the movie though). Tamaki and Honey Senpai were just... and Haruhi felt like a girl so was a bit confused why people felt like she was a boy. This was for the starting of the series.
As the story progresses, the view and the take on the series felt much better. Probably because it grew on me or the direction of the series was much better and the exaggeration toned down. It was in the latter part of the series that I felt the actors were best suited for the roles. Especially the twins and Honey Senpai.
I really enjoyed watching the show but there were a lot of scenes I would have liked to see and it was missed. Like when the club members realised that Haruhi was a girl (aka light bulb scene) or the Lobelia Girls scene. Plus I kinda hoped they would use the original theme song of the anime (Sakura Kiss). Otherwise it was well enjoyed.
