Promising story. Poor execution

was drawn to the plot along with the captivating poster. I was expecting a heart felt story about loss and learning how to love again. Instead, I was treated to a story of nonsensical bull poop. ?
The story follows a man and a woman with different circumstances, who keep on running into each other. One lost someone they loved, and has shut of themselves emotionally. While the other one was dumped by someone they loved and has turned to drinking to numb the pain. Will they be able to heal each others wounds and love again?

Sounds promising? Right? The story starts off great and REALLY builds up the characters. Their backstories are beautifully told through flashbacks and metaphors. However, the story loses its way around the half way point and goes in a direction that is not satisfying nor is it explained. ? There are a few very cute romantic scenes including a ferris wheel kiss, but thst isn't enough to make up for poor storytelling and script execution.

This one is short and sweet 10 episodes each one around 18 minutes long. ?
If you like the cliche romances with a happy ending. Then dive right in and binge away. If you are looking for something deeper, then skip this one ?

cliche after cliche

This one has it all: past lives, childhood friend that’s in love with the female lead, vengeful mother, CEO, childhood connection for the leads. If you’re ready full a story jam packed with every Kdrama cliché out there, strap in you’re in for a ride!
Hyeon Ju ( Hwang Jung Eum) is a successful producer, who after a near death experience as a child swears she will never get married. The reason? During her near-death experience, she had visions of all of her past lives, where she was married to the same guy, she never saw his face in her visions, each time their marriage and lives ended in tragedy. During her “marriage” to herself she makes it official she will remain single forever. Enter Ji Woo (Yoon Hyun Min), a successful CEO who is obsessed with Hyeon Ju to the point of sabotaging her career to keep her close to him, so he can watch over her. The reason for this obsession? You guessed it! He also remembers his past lives and she’s the one. He’s determined to make things right this time around. But what happens when a person from their past lives shows up and will do anything to keep them apart? Will history repeat itself? Or will they finally have their happily ever after?
The series starts out very promising and the script is very clever and funny. There is a scene at the beginning where the two male leads ( Seo Ji Hoon and Yoon Hyun Min) are stuck inside of a tent together and are struggling to get the zipper of the tent loose so they can escape, however what we see on the screen is a silhouette of the two and a children’s field trip watching on confused asking their teacher “what are those two doing in there?”. The scene was pure gold and will have you laughing like crazy!
If I could say something positive about this one, Seo Ji Hoon shined. He is a rising star in the Kdrama world, and it was a pleasure to watch him play the childhood friend who is in love with the female lead. He is great at displaying emotion without using words, and just using his body language. On look at his stance or eyes, and you can feel the emotion. I would have liked to see his character develop more with the story.
Her whiney friends are introduced early on and their side stories are just as boring as they sound. I found myself doing something I never do, fast forwarded through them to get to the main story. However, even the story lost its magic at the halfway point. I blame the script and the acting. The biggest problem with this story was they built up such an exciting plot and then just let it fizzle out. There were moments where you were screaming at the tv, and then confused at the same time.
The acting disappointed me on this one. Nothing is worse to me then when a male lead is giving it is all in the emotional scenes but is getting NOTHING in return from the female lead. I never thought I would crave PSH and a “fish kiss” after watching HJE and her “board kiss”. There were moments where the script had some very cheeky sexual undertones, and she delivers the scene with the passion of a wooden 2x4. This was the first time in a while when I truly saw the male and female lead “acting” Infront of me instead of living the moment of the scene. Truly disappointing since I’ve seen them both pull off great roles in separate projects. They had zero chemistry on screen, and you could feel it.

Do you have time to waste?

I might have found a contender for the worst webdrama I've ever seen.
This story, I loosely use the word story, unfolds in 8 episodes each one about 10 minutes long . Junsu, is a hopeless romantic who falls in love with Namhee at first sight. When he gains the courage to confess he rushes after her and witnesses her being hit by a car ( in Korea cars do not have breaks apparently). ? In a coma, the doctor says The only way to save her is an experimental procedure called "in your dream"( that's the exact medical term he said. If you think I'm making this up the next scene we see Namhee hooked up to a machine that says "in your dream"). During this procedure someone has to "enter her dream" and wake her up. ??? I kid you not. This is the plot

So, my BIGGEST problem with this webdrama, aside from the flimsy plot was the production quality, it looked like it was filmed on an iPhone 6. The editing was choppy and not consistent at all. There were edits that were just laughable. The male lead was alright, but I don't think he's a strong enough actor to pull off anything long form from what he displayed here.
If you wanna laugh or waste precious moments of your life check this one out. If you value your time, move on ?

Poor script and character development

A short series. 12 episodes each one 9-13 minutes in length. A group of friends who are from all different nationalities and walks of life live together in a global share house. When they hire a female house keeper, she comes with more than they bargained for when her spoiled friend joins the mix.
A very cliche story, with a script that goes no where and lack of character development. There is a random dance break in the middle? Not sure if that was to highlight the dancing of Lee Dae Hwi from AB6IX? It was as definitely out of place.
So, in conclusion if you like a horrible script, over acting, and a plot that goes nowhere, this one is for you!

A VERY realistic KDrama

Record of Youth (Netflix, 2020)
9/10
**Warning this review contains spoilers**

There have been a lot of mixed reviews about this drama, not about the story, but about the ending. This drama is a VERY realistic look at the sacrifices, and tough choices one has to make when pursuing their dreams. This drama is not for those looking for a cliché, predictable ending. Writing this right now I’m about a week removed from watching the finale, and I still don’t know how I feel about it.

Sa Hye Jun (Park Bo Gum) comes from a lower middle-class family, he works multiple part-time jobs, while he tries to pursue his dream of becoming an actor. He is naïve and his current agency takes advantage of him and withholds his pay, “for the good of the agency”. With his military enlistment looming over him his family pressuring, him to give up, he meets Ahn Jeong- Ha (Park So Dam) an aspiring makeup artist with a dream of having her own studio and own brand. She is also struggling while pursuing her dreams. Being socially exiled from her current makeup studio where she is an apprentice, by her boss who fears her talent. Jeong Ha and Hye jun become fast friends as they find comfort in each other.

Won Hae- Hyo ( Byeon Woo- Seok) is Hye Jun’s best friend from childhood, he is also trying to make it big as an actor, appearing as minor characters, but never making it big. The big difference between these two, is that while Hye Jun is trying to make it on his own effort, Hae Hyo comes from a rich family, and without him knowing, has been supported by his mother, who does whatever she can, pulls what ever strings she has to see her son succeed.

What happens when Hye Jun finally gets his break? Will he be able to keep Jeong ha by his side as he rises to stardom? Will he be able to fight the pressures of the entertainment industry, or will it suffocate him? What will happen when Hae Hyo, finds out his mom has been pulling the strings? What will happen to their friendship as Hae Hyo slowly starts to fall for Jeong Ha? How will these three survive the obstacles before him?

I thoroughly enjoyed this series, I enjoyed the realistic look at the journey to become successful in the entertainment industry. Park Bo Gum is a very captivating actor, this role suited him perfectly. He has the ability to capture such emotions with his eyes. Whenever he cried, I started to cry. The script was so realistic and heartbreaking at times, you couldn’t help to compare it to the ACTUAL industry. I am almost certain this is how the Korean industry operates and these are the pressures those sucked in go through. The price of fame is great and Park Bo gum was an accurate portrayal. I felt like we were watching his story, even though it was fictional.

You felt for every character in this series and their struggles. Rookie actor Byeon Woo-Seok, really left an impression on me. He portrayed the best friend feeling various range of emotions perfectly. I was pleased that through all the obstacles they remained friends, he was jealous with his friend’s success but he was honest with himself, and turned that jealously into something else. He didn’t take the KDrama cliché path and become vengeful or try to bring his best friend down. I really appreciated how the writer developed his character.

As far as the ending. Sigh, I’m still not sure how I feel about it. I feel like I’m going through the 5 Stages of Grief. I couldn’t believe they could end a series that way, I was hoping there was an ending credit sequence, an extra scene, a time jump, something! Why would they do that to them and to the viewers! Sure, it’s a realistic ending, it made sense. Maybe, just maybe I was thinking “Ok, I guess their story will continue off screen and maybe there will be a season 2? It made complete sense very realistic. In life you are faced with difficult choices and not matter how hard you fight your decision will hurt the other person. I still am undecided

Short and sweet.

I was looking for a quick pick me up, and came across this webdrama. Only 8 episodes, each one 10-18 minutes in length, plus Seo Ji hoon was in the lead cast so I was ready!
An aspiring webtoon artist lies about her age and identity to join the high-school boys archery team as their manager. Her goal: To use them as inspiration for her webtoon. However, what will happen when the truth comes out, and her true intentions are revealed?
The story does have a little bit of a romance plot. But not the one you are expecting! It's a short and cute one. The characters are likeable, but I wish they were further developed, along with the plot.
If you are looking for a cute binge, with no thinking just a fun story. Give this one a try!

Cute. Cute. Cute!

Cute. Cute. Cute!! Ahn Mi Nyeo wants nothing more than to have a boyfriend and be in love. After a drunken night, she makes a wish for a boyfriend. She is surprised the next day when her life size cardboard cutout of idol Cha Eun Woo, from Astro, comes to life with a mission to make her crush fall in love with her! Will she finally get the romance she desires?
This one is short and sweet only 6 episodes, each one about 10 minutes long. I really enjoyed CEW in this one. Even tho he was playing "himself", he was able to bring some real chemistry to the story. I was smiling the entire time. If you just want to watch a silly, cute romance to kill the time and make you smile check this one out! ?
