Project Strawberry Fair: Designing the Perfect Vengeance Plan
Satsui no Michinori caught me off-guard - in a good way. The drama is peculiar, eccentric, and, at times, relatable, even though the main characters are conspiring a murder. When the protagonists discuss the murder plan, they do it so casually. It's as though they're discussing the weather rather than plotting to murder someone. And I think that's where most of the humor lies in this drama. I've never seen anything like that with the same "feel" before.
Our two leads: Kubota Kazuma and Azuma Mitsuru, balance each other. It was interesting to see the development of their plan through their extensive and detailed discussions as to what is a good idea and what is not. Their consultations with other characters were fun to witness as well. I also love the little moments when the characters get a little side-tracked, and one scene, in particular, was too relatable.
The conclusion is satisfying. There are also some lovely scenic shots. My only gripe is that I couldn't connect with the motives presented to the supporting characters. The drama's explanation, in my opinion, was lacking. But overall, there's not much to complain about.
In short, it's a captivating miniseries with a pretty good story (nothing amazing) and excellent dialogue. This drama further exemplifies how unique Japanese dramas can be. It's undeniably a gem worth savoring.
