【Dramas/Movies Finished in 2021】

[ k-movie, 2016 ] ♥

⇨ a truly mind blowing movie full of plot twist and phenomenal acting from everyone but especially for our leading ladies Kim Tae Ri and Kim Min Hee. the cinematography and OST was beautiful too. all around this film was truly an experience that left me shocked, confused, uncomfortable, sad, and happy. it's hard to describe how i feel about but one thing is for sure: i'll never forget this movie. it'll stick with me for a long time.

➨ not exactly a criticism but this movie is super graphic so it was hard to stomach. however the hard to stomach aspects of this movie were most likely intentional

[ pinoy-drama, 2020 ] 

⇨ a short, sweet, and cute mini series that has a runtime of a little over an hour. the acting, cinematography, and OST was okay but nothing remarkable. still, I could definitely tell this drama was made FOR and BY those apart of the LGBTQ+ community.

➨ the plot and pacing was weird because of the limited runtime. there was barely enough time to fully flesh out the characters so I was not that invested in the characters.

⇨ this was just tooth-rotting fluff with super cute leads. there was barely any conflict, just a short little romance between two adorable dorks.

➨ the ML's acting was kind of eh for me but the FL was amazing! although the ditzy, clumsy, awkward FL might not be everyone's cup of tea I thought she was charming. my biggest complaint is the length (but that's also the biggest pro about this drama). overall, if you have an hour to spare try this drama because besides the lack of well...fleshed out characters or plot it was very entertaining.

⇨ despite it's short run time of under an hour, Joan's Galaxy will end up as one of my favorite pieces of Korean media of all time. set in a dystopian future, it tells the story of Joan and Yi Oh. although its not explicitly states this drama special is a love story. although you can view Joan and Yi Oh's relationship as platonic, the dialogue/cinematography/OST points to something more romantic. the chemistry between the cast was wonderful, the dialogue was poetic, and the level of angst/fluff was well balanced. 

➨ i didn't actually care that much about the dystopian plot or even understand it but it was only an hour so there wasn't a ton of time for worldbuilding. Joan and Yi Oh 100% made up for this fact

⇨ this was so freaking sweet and heartwarming! the leads were both adorable, likeable, and genuinely wonderful characters who was fleshed out decently given the time constraint. this is based on a shoujo manga so it is very cheesy but that is what makes it so great. rather than cringing or groaning during their romantic scenes i always was grinning. i really like that neither of them played into the typical tropes or character archetypes. overall, i have a feeling that i'll rewatch this quite a few times in the future whenever i need an instant boost of serotonin 

➨the pacing was super fast and there were plotholes but it didn't take away from my overall enjoyment of the movie.
