Jang Hyuk and Yoo Joon Sang will reportedly lead a new KBS historical K-drama.
On January 7, media outlet Star News shared that Jang Hyuk and Yoo Joon Sang will reportedly lead the new KBS historical K-drama The Chronicles of the Silla-Tang War (working title) which will premiere in the second half of 2025.
In response to the report, a representative from KBS shared, "We offered roles to Jang Hyuk and Yoo Joon Sang, and they are currently reviewing it. Nothing has been confirmed yet. We are still in the planning stages and are carefully considering the title, scheduling, and more.”
The Chronicles of the Silla-Tang War will showcase the fierce confrontation between three countries Goguryeo, Silla, Baekje, and Tang leading to the unification of the three Kingdoms under Silla.
Jang Hyuk got the offer to play the role of Kim Yu Sin, the legendary military commander while Yoo Joon Sang got the offer to play as Kim Chun Chu also known as King Taejong Muyeol, Silla’s 29th ruler who led the groundwork for unification.
According to reports, the K-drama will be produced after the casting has been finalized. The K-drama will reportedly be directed by Jang Min Seok who created the K-dramas The Worst of Evil, Local Hero, and films Fists of Legend, Secret Reunion, and Traces of Love.
The Chronicles of the Silla-Tang War will reportedly premiere in 2025.
This will possibly be the comeback of Jang Hyuk to historical K-dramas after three years. He last appeared in the genre in 2022 through the series Bloody Heart.
Jang Hyuk's last K-drama project was in 2023. He led the tvN K-drama and got reunited with actress Jang Na Ra.
Meanwhile, this will possibly be the second upcoming K-drama of Yoo Joon Sang. He will also join the cast of the upcoming series My Lovely Journey with Gong Seung Yeon, Kim Jae Young, Hong Soo Hyun, Yoo Ji Yeon, NUEST's Baekho,and more.
Yoo Joon Sang will also star in the upcoming movies A Peaceful Mind Is Not Stillness and My Favorite Love Story.
