Anime/Manga That Should Be Made Into Dramas Part Two: Manga List Edition

Hi guys,

Sorry, it took me a long time to write this, but I have my own circumstance (school T-T). Sorry again. Well, as the title reads, this part will be all about manga.

So let’s check it out! ^^

Dengeki Daisy (Manga)

Synopsis:

Before he died, Kurebayashi Teru's brother gave her only a cell phone, telling her to contact "Daisy" if she ever needs someone to talk to. Now, even though she lives alone and without relatives, Teru never feels lonely because Daisy is her constant confidant and supporter.

In order to pay off a debt, Teru finds herself needing to work for the rude, inconsiderate, and abusive (not to mention quite handsome) school janitor, Kurosaki Tasuku. While her predicament seems on the opposite spectrum of her relationship with Daisy, maybe Teru's two different worlds are more closely connected than she thought? (Source: MAL)

Comment:

Dengeki Daisy is one of the first mangas I read and it is always on the top of my favorite manga list. It would be a shame to me if I didn't include it here. Well as you could see it is about... STOP! I don’t want to say anything or I will spoil it for you because the best thing in this is starting from zero, with only the synopsis as a reference and curiosity as a catalyst. Let’s stop all the sweet talk and go to the main point, the reasons: To start with, this manga may not have 'mystery' as an included genre but it includes a 'mystery' feeling in many ways, this is because when you start the manga many questions will pop up into your mind until you become addicted and crazy... Don't you think this feeling should be in the Dramaworld more than the Animeworld?

Another thing is, in adapted manga dramas (almost all of them) they usually fill up the story in order to make it solid, but here they wouldn't need to do that because of the story, characters' backgrounds, etc. are all very detailed. All the chapters are also connected to each other. I believe that if it were to be turned into a drama, it would become a masterpiece.

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance

Tokyo Ghoul (Manga)

Synopsis:

This suspense horror/dark fantasy story is set in Tokyo, which is haunted by mysterious "ghouls" who are devouring humans. People are gripped by the fear of these ghouls whose identities are masked in mystery. An ordinary college student named Kaneki encounters Rize, a girl who is an avid reader like him, at the café he frequents. Little does he realise that his fate will change overnight.

Comment

“Nobody to root for, nobody to dislike, nobody has the right to blame. Right or wrong, ally or enemy, who to believe?" This is a real labyrinth that I ended up in and you too will end up with when you enter Sui Ishida’s ghoul-world. I don't want to write anymore or I might end up telling you spoilers, which is one of my bad habits. I think it should be turned into drama because it will pull out all of its potential that the anime wasn’t able to pull. Among all the manga here, I recommend it highly to be turned into a drama since it will change the action drama world completely, my six sense never lies to me.

Genres: Action, Mystery, Drama, Horror, Supernatural, Psychological.

Editor's Note: There is a Live Action Japanese film for Tokyo Ghoul coming out in 2017. Here is the MDL page for it.

Comment:

This series is my childhood, it is a sweet, soft, cute and meaningful series.

"A hit drama’ is every drama writer's dream. Most of the people believe that in order for a drama to obtain this title, it has to have a complicated, but solid plot. However, I believe it doesn't have to be like that. I believe a hit drama has to have a meaning or a message to deliver, it has to make you smile whenever you remember it, and for certain it has to entertain 'you' the watcher, no matter how many times you watch it. In Aka-chan to Boku, you can find all these conditions. Moreover, I believe a heart-warming, meaningful drama is better than a smart, complicated drama.

Genres: Comedy, Drama, Slice of Life.

Zetsuen no Tempest

The point of view begins with Hakaze, a witch who ended up on a deserted island. Changing point of views, we now look at Yoshino and Mahiro. Despite the close bond they had, Yoshino has no idea where Mahiro is. However, one day when Yoshino was putting flowers on Mahiro's family grave, a woman questions Yoshino about Mahiro at gunpoint. According to the woman, Mahiro got involved with some serious issues that will inevitably put the human race in a catastrophic situation, and the Japanese government is desperately looking for Mahiro. Apparently, some sort of "magic" is involved. What happened to Mahiro? And who is this Hakaze girl? What does Hakaze have to do with this? (Source:  MAL)

Comment:

if you were to ask me how I came to know this manga, I will simply answer that I saw the anime. if I am not wrong, it was from fall 2013 to winter 2014. It was every Thursday at 12am, All good anime airs around this time for some reason. Well, let’s skip my animehood just because if I start I will definitely not finish.

Ok friends! Zetsuen no Tempest is a mix of both Tempest and Hamlet which are both some of Shakespeare famous works. Actually in Zetsuen no Tempest there are many quotes from his works like from Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, etc. (to be honest with you I found all of this out after doing research on this show for my English class project XP).

What attracted me for Zetsuen no Tempest is the well-balanced combination of magic and mystery which is very rare to see. Also, the characters were very unique, especially the MCs Yoshino and Mahiro, their personalities were the opposite of their looks, Aika for example, she holds the keys of the whole show, I couldn’t get what she was thinking at all. Well, this is pretty common in Shirodaira Kyo-sensei (author) works, he has many other great works, which are far better than this one. One more note, the synopsis is nothing compared to the manga, the manga is far better than the description, take this advice from me; ignore everything and just start reading the manga. If this manga was turned into a drama trust me, everyone will stick to the screen because it's freaking addictive, my sixth sense never lies.

Genres: Action, Drama, Fantasy, Magic, Mystery, Psychological.

Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun/Gekkan Shōjo Nozaki-kun

Synopsis:

Sakura Chiyo confesses to her crush, Nozaki-kun, but he mistakes her as a fan! Unable to convey her feelings, what happens when he invites her to his house? Find out yourself!! (Source: MAL)

Comment:

I love this series. After all of those dark themed mangas above, we need something bright to lighten the mood and Nozaki-kun will take the job. I am not a fan of comedy but for some reason, I was captivated by this manga. I first came to know it from the anime one year ago, I thought it was a typical every day Shoujo but I felled for the trap. It turned out that this show is a rom-com and to my surprise, the comedy dominates the show.

The selling point for this show is the characters. All the characters are unique; they don't act as they would seem. I love all characters; they are really great. Usually, most of the comedy anime and manga will drop some dirty jokes to make the audience laugh but there is no such a thing here, as it is funny just the way it is. Anyone can watch this show without a problem.

Dramaland needs more from Nozaki-kun's example. I am full of all the romantic and suppose-to-be action dramas. We need more comedy. This is all I can say with the vocabulary that I know but, if I knew more words I might even write a poem about how great this show is.

Genres: Comedy, Romance, School.
