Currently Watching: Beautiful Gong Shim

Actually, this is my first time writing an article, and I hope I can share some thoughts with you, drama lovers! Today, I am going to talk about this new romantic comedy drama that I am currently watching: Beautiful Gong Shim.

This drama is about the life of two sisters and two men, and the story is about how they are entangled with each other. Ahn Dan Tae (Nam Gung Min) is an eccentric man, that sometimes is a lawyer, sometimes a substitute driver, while Gong Shim (Min Ah) is a warmhearted girl, who loves to draw and doesn't say "no" to anyone.

Gong Shim's sister, Gong Mi (Seo Hyo Rim), is a beauty that is idolized by her family because of her beauty and also has a stable job as a lawyer. The last main lead is Suk Joon Soo (Ohn Joo Wan), a handsome and nice man from a wealthy family.

The story begins when Gong Shim decides to rent the rooftop room of her house and Ahn Dan Tae is the one who moves in. Later, they both meet Joon Soo and become friends. I think Gong Shim and Dan Tae are a bit crazy, so I can guarantee you will have a thousand emotions per episode: sometimes I laughed so much and other times I felt like crying. 

There is a mysterious arc, the darkest part of the story, which is around Joon Soo's family. He is from a rich family and there are problematic elements inside of it, such as people who want a lot of power and try to obtain it by any means. His grandmother is looking for her long-lost grandson, who was kidnapped when he was a child and never heard from since.

Why I think you should watch it:

First, I was really attracted to this show because of Nam Gung Min. I had already seen him in The Girl Who Sees Scents and Remember - War Of The Son, and he is such a great actor, no doubt. But this time he is playing a totally different role; he isn't the evil guy (even though he is crazy in this role and not normal at all, but...). Anyway, I was very curious about how an actor that is so known for evil roles could change into a nice male lead this time, and I have to say, it is really impressive. He really can change into a very funny and nice person from a scary and evil one.

Another thing that made me stay and watch the drama was the plot. I am used to watching very heavy Kdramas. I like melodramas a lot and sometimes the story is very dark and full of terrible people. In this drama, I could see for the first time a very warm mood, which I really enjoyed. It is so funny! I think the humor and all the jokes are great! Dan Tae and Gong Shim have the best expressions ever, for every moment. (But as the Kdrama it it, this drama also has a few secrets, and it has a dramatic background.) 

One more point: I fell in love with Gong Shim. She is such a lovely girl! In the beginning, I was revolted sometimes because I couldn't understand why she didn't talk back in a few situations, especially when it was involving her sister. But she changes a lot later, and I think she grows into a very nice person. And this is another thing I liked about this show: it is a lesson about loving yourself the way you are. Because people are different and everyone is good at something; you just need to find it and have the opportunity to do it. 

Well, I hope my reasons made you at least a bit curious about this amazing drama, which is already one of my favorites this year. It is already half through now, but it is never too late to start a new drama!
