Those impossible drama things – Part 2
So after so many people suggested to me to write a second part of my first article “Those impossible drama things” and gave me new impossible things, I decided to follow your requests and here is the second part! Enjoy! ^_^
1. You don´t have to pay for food/beverage if you storm out angrily
There is always this person who is talking to someone in a restaurant or café, and that person makes her/him angry. So she just takes her bag – or not, as drama characters have the habit to leave their things all over the place as well (see my first article) – and storms out of the restaurant or café without paying.
You don´t have to pay for food or beverages in Korea?? NICE, I am going to try that out! I will eat through all the restaurants there!! *O*
No, seriously, do you keep having to rub it in our face that the restaurants and cafés are sponsors of the drama?
2. Creepy childhood crushes
So there is this crush from kindergarten or elementary school that the female lead almost forgot about until he comes back 10 years later and always clings onto the childhood crush.
OMG, HELLO? Is it only me, or is that guy a psycho?? I mean, sure, it’s cute that he still loves her, but DUDE, CALM DOWN if you don´t want her to run off frightened to death!
3. Safety and accidents in Korea
Another thing that caught my attention is that in Korea there are apparently no airbags in cars. That´s why every accident leads to a head injury! Other than that, the drama characters don´t have to close that clip of the helmet when they ride a motorcycle so that the helmet falls off only if you turn your head. And the reaction of the people witnessing the accident or even if just somebody collapses on the street, the people shake the sh** out of them but DON`T call an ambulance!
Gosh, so Korea seems dangerous as hell!! Don´t all the cars have airbags? And how exactly is that not properly put on helmet supposed to protect you from head injuries if it falls off with every movement? And seriously, isn't it common knowledge NOT to shake a person who is unconscious? If you are not a nurse or a doctor don't freakin' shake them and only call an ambulance! With all of this I would REALLY fear for my safety if I live in Korea!
4. The phone battery
Who hasn't seen this already: the phone of a drama character keeps ringing and they don’t want to answer the messages/calls so they take the battery of the phone out.
Ok, I have to admit, it isn't so often anymore, but it still happens! When this happens, I just sit there thinking: “Does your phone have no power button? Why do you make everything so complicated and don't just turn your phone off? It is much easier!”
5. Airport complications
Koreans don´t know that there is this board in airports where it says what planes departs from what gate so they ALWAYS have to run through the whole airport to find the person they are looking for!
I don´t know what to say to this. This is just hella stupid. I mean sure, it does make it a bit more dramatic and stuff, but it is still stupid! So PLEASE, PD-nim and Writer-nim, make the character a bit smarter, ok? THANKS!
6. Chasing people
So the main guy has to chase the main woman to the airport or wherever and like that he makes his way, super dramatic and runs through the streets as if he is chased by wolves or something.
Yea right. You RUN when you are eager to find someone who is about to leave the country. RIGHT. I mean, doesn't he have a car? Or if he hasn't, is he so poor that he can't even pay for a cab? I thought the cabs are not so damn expensive in Korea, but that they are expensive in Japan! And now don’t tell me there were no cabs running, in Seoul there are cabs almost everywhere!
7. The stand and stare moments
So these moments are one of my favorite moments where I FREAKING PULL MY HAIR OUT. Of course, there is at least one moment of this sort in every drama, and it is for sure not only me who gets annoyed by it. The best example for this is The Heirs. In The Heirs there were WAY too many stand and stare moments. I still remember when one time I was watching Heirs and there was one of those moments when my mom came in and looked what I was watching, she was all like: “And now? Why the hell are you watching people standing somewhere staring at each other forever?”
So this was the second part of “Impossible drama things”! I hope you liked it! If you have things I haven´t mentioned yet, tell them in the comments, I will check them out, and maybe there is going to be a part 3 as well? ;D
