Modern Farmer
Four friends used to perform as a rock band. On the threshold of recognition their plans collapse and they disband. After several years, and because of his debt, the leader Lee Min Ki (Lee Hong Ki) decides to bring the band back together. The way to the release of their album is to farm the land Min Ki's grandmother left him with cabbage. Modern Farmer traces the struggles and complications in the way of the four men. The adventure of growing cabbage brings them surprises, friendship and love. It's a story of struggling to survive - in the funniest way possible.
Lee Min Ki: ExSo's rock band's leader is childish, immature, self-centred, careless and slick, or at least this is how he appears to be. Behind this selfish him lies another warm, caring and loving man. Holding rock and Yoo Na (Han Bo Reum) as his Polaris, he moves forward no matter what he faces.
If you feel like you can't stand the sight of him in the first episodes, hang in there. You'll get to see the other side of him. And he sings in the drama!!
Kang Hyuk (Park Min Woo) acts careless and carefree in front of others. He has his smile on no matter what and he does whatever he finds fun. Behind the chilled mask hides a scarred, warm and sensitive child; a child who can't get over his mother's death and who falls in love with the woman that reminds him of his mother.
(Well, I really didn't want to talk about this but I can't anymore. I just don't understand and don't like how they keep emphasizing in so many dramas the guy falling for a woman who reminds him of his mother. I don't know if it's because I'm a Literature graduate and because of Oedipus and all but, as a woman, I want a guy to like me for who I am, not because I'm a younger version of his mother. Sorry, I'm too excited!)
Anyhow, Park Min Woo is one of my favourite actors and I love him here.
Yoo Han Chul (Lee Shi Eon) is a harmless guy. He lives on just because there's nothing else to do until he finds out that he's diagnosed with cancer. He agrees to join the band to farm and there he meets his one and only love, Lee Soo Yun (AOA's Kwon Min Ah).
The youngest is Han Ki Joon (Kwak Dong Yun). He's the adorable maknae. I can't mention him without his partner with whom they make the most adorable couple in the drama - the North Korean defector Bul Ja/Song Hwa Ran (Han Joo Hyun). Coincidences and accidents keep pushing them in one another's way creating a cute couple.
Our female lead is the ever-attractive Lee Ha Nui. Ang Yoon Hee (Lee Ha Nui) is the village head and a single mother. Struggling to protect her son through protecting the village, she carries a heavy burden on her shoulders. Meeting the four guys could be the most unfortunate and the most fortunate thing that has happened to her.
For a good laugh and a lovely plot, Modern Farmer won't disappoint.
