Drama Costumes: What to Wear (and Not Wear!) on All Hallows' Eve

Every year I’m invited to a big costume party on Halloween. And every year I panic!!


As lots of working girls, I don’t really have time to think of a great home-made costume. That’s why I ended up wearing a purple wig and my black glasses saying I’m that killer girl from the Kick-Ass movie last year. I don’t even want to talk about the time I tried the « Princess Leia hairstyle » from Star Wars!

And when I arrive at the party, every time it’s the same, all the girls are dressed in classic costumes or as I like to call it, the Big 5: Sexy Nurse, Sexy Witch, Princess, Cat woman or Barbie. 

Then it hits me, why don’t look into Dramas? I mean, they have perfect guys, perfect kisses, perfect piggyback rides maybe they also got perfect costumes!

Here is my selection of the worst and the very best costumes I’ve seen so far in dramaland.   

What You Shouldn't Wear

1. Xiang Qin‘s Ghost (It Started with a Kiss)


Even if I really like the funny side and real creativity of this ghost costume from It Started With a Kiss, she did scare the guy she like, so it’s a no-no !

2. The Worst Couple Costume Ever (Ma Boy)




You’re a young couple and think: what about a cute paired costume?? Well if it totally works for Sun Woong who play Irene/Hyun Woo in Ma Boy, let’s be honest a minute: not any boy could bring it on!

3. Not So “Super” Girl (Boys Over Flowers) 


Yes it’s a superhero costume! Unfortunately, Koo Hye Sun, alias Geum Jan Di, just had few minutes to enjoy it before being pushed on the floor. So I advise to skip this one which might bring bad luck!

4. The Dracula/Frankenstein (Nobuta wo Produce)


Everyone love Yamashita Tomohisa aka “Yamapi” (only few people in my knowledge might disagree)! It still feels like an overuse of the genre. Too much Dracula kills the Dracula if you know what I mean.


5. The 70’s Disco Dancer VS Traditional himono-onna (Hotaru no Hikari)


First thing first, if you want to wear a wig you have to wear it correctly : you can’t show your real hair!!! As for the himono-onna style, I’m all for it AT HOME but never ever during a party !!

6. The Brazilian Dancer (Hotaru no Hikari season 2)


Buchou (Takano Seiichi) was really hilarious in that Brazilian Dancer outfit. I agree. But in a real life party, this might not be a so good idea to bring your sexy back like that.

What You Should Wear!

1. The “Bawk Bawk” Chicken (Skip Beat)


Totally awesome costume! Look at Si Won and Dong Hae who are totally under Ivy spell! A must wear! 

2. The “Love Me Section” Uniform (Skip Beat)


It’s pink so it’s girly but in a good way. Then you add the choreography and here you got the most girl power costume ever!

3. The Frog Woman (The Greatest Love)


Really cute, yet green and preventing you to walk like a human person…Why should you wear it ?
-  It seems really comfy, 
- The colour might enhence your natural skin colour,  
- If you had to get over an obstacle, the guy you like might help you.

4. The Venice/Macao Mask (Boys Over Flowers)

It’s a cute and easy costume for both men and woman. Just one look at Kim Hyun Joong and you will be convinced. 

 

5. The Panda Man (Flower Boy Next Door)



This one is too cute not to try it. Plus if you’re as good of a dancer as Yoon Si Yoon alias Enrique Geum, it’s a must!

6. The “Manga” Eyes and the Batman Glasses (Nodame Cantabile)



This kind of eye’s make-up always scared me in a weird way. But it’s Halloween after all, so if it scares you I guess it’s ok! And it seems the perfect couple combination: geeky in a good Asian way!
