Currently Watching: xxxHOLiC

But I thought: "Hey, it can't be that bad." I mean, I've seen lots of manga live adaptations (be it a movie or drama), and some were really good and others were really bad *cough*dragonball*cough*. Plus as a fan I had to, at least, try. I felt like it was some sort of duty -^.^- 

So with great apprehension, I watched the first episode, but boy, they lived up to my expectation!

It tells us the story of Watanuki Kimihiro (Sometani Shota) who has the capability of seeing supernatural beings and other phenomena that normal people wouldn't usually see, and he is quite bothered with it. His only wish is to get rid of that ability.

One day, on his way home, he finds himself dragged, I mean literally, into a mysterious house and that is where he meets a witch, Ichihara Yuuko (Anne).

"Yeah a witch, then what?" you might say.
Well! It so happens that she can grant your wish, if it is in her power, that is.

Actually, she runs a 'shop' where she grants people's wishes. But here's the catch: she doesn't simply grant your wish out of the goodness of her heart. It's more like trading a wish for something else...

As she says: "For everything you desire, you have to pay an equal price in return."

It's not necessarily money, for what is money to something you value more than money. The payment can be anything: your soul, a promise, an object...

So after some happenings, our main character is convinced that she can grant his wish. She agrees to the condition that he becomes her domestic. Meaning, he'll have to do everything she asks, including helping her grant wishes for his to be granted...

Because it's CLAMP! Well for those who know the manga, that is ^^"

On a more serious note, you should watch it because it deals with subjects rarely treated in Jdramas (in dramas in general, I'd even say): the supernatural and occultism.

And just for that I believe that it's worth giving it a shot.

I admit, it's a bit gloomy and lacks of humor at first, but it does get better, kinda ^^' Well, it's not totally humorless, there are some funny scenes :D

What I like also are the clothes, especially Yuuko's, they're so beautiful *-* And most importantly, the special effects are well done!

And last, but not least, the characters: since I read the manga, I can't help but always compare them. I mean, aren't we all?  I like how the actors are bringing life to their characters. I think it's well executed even if Watanuki's a bit too grumpy. Also, you might have read (or not) in my episode reviews that I'm still not sure about Anne playing Yuuko. What I am criticizing is not her acting, far from it, I like it actually, but simply her age :x 

But other that, I'm loving it! Is it different from the manga? Yes and I don't really care about it. The main story is still there.

So that's it, I hope you didn't feel that I was comparing the drama and the manga too much.If so, I sincerely apologise.
