If Ouran High School Host Club Was A Korean Drama

Most of us drama addicts are former otakus (manga/anime addicts), and sometimes we just want to see our favorite anime/manga in live action dramas. This topic has been bugging me for a while now, because the manga world has so many great stories that could become great dramas as well. So why doesn't the Korean drama industry make more manga/manhwa based dramas?

I know, I know, K-dramaland has already adapted manga into dramas like, for example, Boys Before Flowers and To the Beautiful You. The thing is, those dramas did very well, even becoming some of the most popular dramas worldwide. Isn't that a sign to make more Kdramas adapted from manga?

Now, I understand that Japan has already adapted a LOT of manga into dramas; however, (no offense to doramas) I still feel like I would really love to see these stories with the Korean stylish sets and clothes, and the Korean idols' beautiful faces. With that said, I have decided to create this article in order to share my dream vision of a Korean manga-drama adaptation.

Genre: comedy, romance, slice of life

Plot Summary: Haruhi Fujioka is a scholarship student at the prestigious Ouran Academy. Looking for a quiet place to study, Haruhi stumbles upon the Third Music Room, a place where the Ouran Academy Host Club, a group of six male students, gathers to entertain female "clients". During their first meeting, Haruhi accidentally knocks over and breaks an antique vase valued at Â¥8,000,000 (US$80,000 in the English manga) and is told to repay the cost in service to the club.

Tall. Silent. Tough. Manly. Who could it be other than Big Bang’s T.O.P?? Both of them have the same charisma that says: “Look at me, admire, but never come too close” in a way that make you feel jealous of their band members (or friends).


Looking for a character that suits Hani-Sempai’s character, I had looked high and low. I even considered Super Junior’s Sungmin (Because of his knowledge of Martial Arts), but then I had remembered my first reaction when I saw a photo of Kim Hye Sung. I just thought: “There’s NO WAY he’s 25 O_o" 
He is a real life Hani-Sempai, with his cute, baby-face and his smart looking eyes. I think he would pull off the role of cheerful cute Hani-Sempai very well.


It’s not like I had a choice. It’s a simple undeniable fact that Boyfriend’s Jo brothers ARE Hitachiin brothers. Their playful devilish attitude, identical faces, their similar yet different personalities, and the beautiful brotherly bond between them. I mean really !! They are the Hitachiin brothers.
I wasn’t sure at first if these two smiling flower boys could act the parts where the Hitachiin brothers distant themselves from others and gives you the feeling of: “stay out of our world” but according to the image above I can say: “Yes they CAN."


When choosing the cast, I did my best not to choose the character according to a previous similar role that he played, but I had to do that with Kim Bum, because he would be the absolute best to play Ootori Kyoya’s character.
A cool, smart, mysterious, guy with no insight what-so-ever in what he’s thinking. We had already seen Kim Bum playing this role in Boys Over Flowers, but as the third main lead. Kim Bum did not reach all of his potential in that role. The role of Kyoya can bring out a lot more of his smart, devilish, smirk :) and his lovely coolness.


Are you out of your mind?? The doll like feminine IU to play as a guy? That was what I think everyone would think the first moment you see this (after hitting me with a chair XD) But wait! If Sulli could do it in To the Beautiful You, why can't IU??
A careless top student who is innocent and ignorant in various aspects in life even though she is a scholarship student, with a cute, beautiful gaze that would sweep the great Tamaki off his feet. I think this role fits the cute IU perfectly.


A charming prince with a kind heart and a stupid mind. I just love Tamaki’s character! He idolizes his beauty yet is selfless enough to consider it a gift to make others happy. Who would be able to play that??

Honestly speaking, the Japanese actor Yamamoto Yusuke did not satisfy me, He was really cute but a little over done at times. Tamaki’s role gave him the chance to be the favorite actor of many girls (myself included :D) but he totally lost that chance.
But who is the best looking Korean actor with blonde hair.. Well, to me, Lee Hong Ki was the first actor that came to mind. The funny, energetic and charming Lee Hong Ki had already proven that he can be all this as Jeremy in You’re Beautiful, but something was missing…! He can not be Tamaki...!

The missing ingredient was the Leadership. Tamaki was the leader of the awesome OHSHC. He inspired the whole school while being cheerful and happy. His energy just filled the whole school, and here was when I thought about Leeteuk. Who could be a better father for the Ouran High School Host Club than the capable leader who is leading the 13 members boy band Super Junior with a sweet smile.
Stunningly beautiful with blonde hair, great charisma that would fit for the host club’s King, and the deep eyes that hide very well the burden of the successor of the Suou Family, honestly! I can not find anyone who could fit this role any better.
And through Variety Shows, Leeteuk proved himself as a guy with a great sense of humor who can make you laugh non-stop just watching his radiant smiling face. I would really really love to see Leeteuk as Tamaki ♥
