More psychological than retributive.
The premise of ‘Master of the House’ is nothing original, but it's an intriguing watch with some psychological twists, which the plot centered around the rich family and their servants. Triggers warning: you need to have a tolerance for violence, substance, rape, and sexual content while watching this drama. When it comes to revenge dramas, it’s crucial to have captivating, complex characters and a gripping storyline, and while this drama has all the elements, the execution is rather weak and lacks impact in some ways. The story moves at a decent pace, and it manages to blend all the lies, deception, psychological trauma, and bullying with the good performances of each character. The thriller is there, but when it focuses a lot on the inheritance war, it feels more psychological than retributive.
The only thing that really amazes me about this drama is the cinematography and the production quality. They are outstanding and powerful. It's an impressive improvement in the camerawork quality in Thai dramas. Overall, if you're looking for an escapist service of revenge, this drama is an option to consider.

VERY BORING
I don't usually watch Thai dramas, but I saw a preview scene on Netflix and I thought "how interesting".THE MAIN PROBLEM I had with this drama was the slowness of everything, not of the action in itself, but of the movement of everything. I had to watch this in 1.5× speed so I wouldn't die of boredom 'cause the pace doesn't do justice to the plotline which is kinda nice! It's not a work of a genius, but I think it would have worked better as a movie. There aren't a lot of important things that are happening and this drama focuses more on the mystery and the atmosphere.
Most of the acting was good and the storyline of the protagonist truly kept me interested, the actress embodied the character very well. But sometimes I couldn't feel the reality of the plot, so I found it chaotic at times.
Also, the music fitted the narrative plot, yet I couldn't stand the eerie and suspensful sound that was all over the episodes. I think they used it too much. I fell in love with the ending song of the finale episode.
Give it a try if you want, but don't expect much.

Burn that house down
Metaphorically speaking, they did. This crashed and burned in the most pathetic of ways, even the retribution felt unsatisfactory after that sub par build-up.A good revenge drama needs a captivating plot, complex characters and good acting to bring all this forth, but what good is the third for when a drama lacks in the first two? Although technically the description doesn't promise much revenge, there is atleast the expectation that the female lead, the outsider, the “fish out of water”, would have a much more satisfying character arc. Instead, she's written in such a manner that all you can do is root for her and hopes she picks herself up while everyone around her mistreats her like they have no tomorrow.
This kind of treatment doesn't end with her, in an intricately weaved web of power dynamics, everyone you can root for is on the recieving end of the mistreatment. The only character who can be considered neutral doesn't get much screentime for us to deduce her intentions, she stays on screen as long as it takes her to leave. Everyone else is trash.
SA, violence, harrasment, these are just a few of the many heinous things these people did. They're overall complete trash, but watching them just sit and have their way while innocent people feel the brunt of their actions gets real tiring, real fast. The individual stories of all the characters they wanted to tell gets lost in the pointless power struggle in the family, and the stories that you want highlighted become a plot point move along the torment and tormenting nature of the characters.
The ending was unsatisfyingly satisfying. The kind of retribution provided against the actions was like a slap to the face, and even the fact that it all played out well for the lead was downplayed by the fact that she was tossed around left and right without a chance to stand tall throughout her journey to get her revenge.
Through the frustration and psychological torture, this was not a drama that was worth it.

A very plain drama
THIS IS MY OPINIONI went into this drama because i saw the trailer on my for you page on an accident it barely had any promotion and if i hadn't come up by it on an accident i wouldn't known it had existed when i forst saw the trailer it looked good i love a very revenge filled drama. I watched the entire thìng in 3 hrs 2x speed and too be honest it was just fine i didn't understand why it was so faced paced in the beginning with her and him marrying each other almost immediately but i still continued to watch and i didn't really like it she was continuously being berated to everyone and she took it like a champ but after seeing the ending i understood why i really liked the plot twist in the ending although i feel it was too sudden and they just wanted to wrap things up. This drama is very good for a binge watch to watch and be done and forget u even watched it in the first place so if ur looking for something like that this i recommend but if ur looking for a very satisfying drama of the year this is NOT the one i guarantee u if u watched this by next month u will forget anything that happened

And that, kids, is how you unionise!
From that start, the plot didn't feel right. Why would a domestic servant have any real romantic feelings for their master? So needless to say the final episode was a big 'ah now that makes sense' moment. That said, as much as I enjoy lower class insurgency and rooting for underdogs, the plotline was terribly executed. Because it spent more time delving into the backstories of the Evil Masters Of The House more than the servants, you had very little sense of who the servants were as human beings.
I understand why the storyline worked that way. It would've been very hard to explore Khaimook's character in-depth, for example, without giving away the big plot twist. However, it does mean the ending feels shallow. Sure – I want these people to land on top. But only on principle. Not because I feel any sentimental attachment to the individuals themselves.
Also, just as a heads up, this series does stray into torture porn territory at times. You can skip those scenes: it's lazy writing and doesn't really contribute much overall.

Too much gratuitous sex, but nice twist ending
Started off with a mystery and the premise makes the viewer root for certain characters right away. The unravelling of the mystery was entertaining to watch because of all the plot twists. The social injustice narrative became a bit too heavy with the sadistic abuse of the servants, and the tiresome part of it is the fact that there never seemed to be any way out. They all had to endure it because of the poverty back at home, and the seemingly high wages that "compensated" for the "back-breaking labour." In spite of that explanation, it's hard to believe that money is enough to motivate someone stay at this job when some of the abuse could maim them for life, making it difficult for them to continue earning any income at all.
The acting was quite convincing for the most part, for both sides of villains and protagonists. Thanavate Siriwattanagul, who plays Mawin, stood out for me. The characterization of the servants was quite one-dimensional for all of them, so one cannot say that they had much acting to sell to begin with.
Ending was satisfying, although a bit too fantastical.

A thrilling ride
It's a serie in which you have to be mentally prepared because it tackles some sensitive topics / elements and it's more for mature audience, it's also not for everyone's cup of tea.I've started without any expectations but I was prepared due to some comments saying it could be boring and for the sensitive parts. It's indeed difficult to watch (some scenes) so be aware of it. However, I've found it, in general, entertaining and it catched my attention from the first episode to the end.
Maybe, it's not new but I was quite impressed by the production and the choices of the camera movements (especially the first ep) that might be bothered by some but might be interesting (for me) for the others. I even thought that some shots or scenes were nicely filmed. I also liked the atmopshere and the lightning that were used, it me gives me somehow a chill feeling but at the same time, you know there's something's off there. In addition, the choice of the songs is also very good.
All the actors were doing a great job to portray their characters, I had goosebumps for it and I kind of "love" to hate them in my bottom of my heart.
It might be messy, crazy and unbelievable, episode after episode and they could turned some situations differently and maybe making more impactful but I'm still impressed by almost everything.
This is surprisingly a very good discovery of this year in my opinion.

Non-conventional drama
For the ones that look for something refreshing out of the usual rom-com or betrayal/revenge loops, you will probably want to give this drama an opportunity. The acting is credible and not exaggerated, the story unfolds at a good pace during its 7 episodes and there are several plot twists along the way. The production quality gets very close of the Korean Dramas are definitely enjoyable.
The plot revolves around the abusive relationship between the Masters of the House and the Servants at the same time that there are fights for Succession.
