it was a fun ride
Overall: I enjoyed this series, though I watched most scenes at a faster speed. 13 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on iQIYI uncut & YouTube cut which reduced NSFW scenes. Note: this was based on an omegaverse novel which I read but reviewed the series on its own.Content Warnings: murders, sexual assault, blood, kidnapping, parental abuse, punch/slap, beaten up, stalking, manipulation, stalking, non con recording/sharing, violence, child trafficking
What I Liked
- supportive friends
- sweet moments
- Jeff & Alan
- excellent truth about how family isn't always the best
- pretty good NSFW scenes
- visuals
Room For Improvement
- quite a few characters were introduced at once and it took awhile to figure out who was who, there ended up being too many characters and not enough time to fully develop the relationships
- I realized they wanted mystery but it made it difficult to really support the Charlie/Babe relationship and the fact that they changed that plan from Jeff's idea to Charlie's was a mistake
- total nonsense/huge plot holes, many characters shared 1 brain cell
- cliche ghosting trope, Babe also shoved Charlie a bit too much/frequently
- the NSFW needed to be a longer (even in the uncut version) and were choppy at times
- cartoonish villains (and stupid)
- I wish they had either leaned into the omegaverse and explained it more or just omitted it entirely
- not sure how I feel about a certain character's redemption arc

AEAWOW, this BL series was an absolute trip!
Seriously, I can’t recall ever watching anything quite like it- even beyond the Boyslove universe. It all kicked off with a sports racing star and a groupie fanboy sexy story. The vibe was all about that, you know? But then, out of nowhere, it took a wild spin into… (You need to watch it yourselves, really—NO spoilers). And guess what? I managed to dodge all spoilers, so I could savor every twist and turn to the fullest.
What did I like about it?
-This BL was so incredibly sexy and Engaging!
-I adored Pit’s character, and honestly, all the actors nailed it—perfect job, in my humble opinion.
-Tony’s Charm: That freakin’ (and devilishly handsome) guy named Tony.
-The intriguing originality of the BL and its unexpected plot twists (though some were quite predictable )
Now, let’s dive into some points for improvement:
Omegaverse Explanation: Yeah, it would’ve been nice if they’d thrown us a bone on the whole omegaverse thing.
Where Are the Ladies? I’m scratching my head here. Aren’t there any girls in this omegaverse universe? Seriously, this series won’t even pass the Bechdel test. It’s like all the girls vanished into thin air.
Tears, Tears Everywhere: I get it—emotions run high. But maybe—just maybe—a tad less crying would’ve been easier on us.
❤️ life’s too short for boring series! Keep up the good work!

I didn't want to watch it but
I was so skeptical about this series. I saw edits about PoohPavel and I didn't really liked it, for me they were just cringe. The I started watching "This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans" and I fell in love with SpyPon, I checked them and saw that they played in "PitBabe". I was like "okay, so many people like it, there's SpyPon, so maybe I should just give it a shot". And bruh the whole story was just amazing, so many plot twists so many characters (which you love or hate lol). Even the acting, which as I said I wasn't expecting, wasn't that bad, still for me PoohPavel were a little bit cringe, but tbh I think it was because of the script (I didn't like the mama papa thing). Overall it was a really good drama, so if you think if you should watch it or not, then just already watch itConsiderați utilă această recenzie?

Oh my Omegaverse, what is this masterpiece?!
*Spoiler Free Summary of my review*First I was going to rate this drama at 9/10 but I rewatched the drama and this time I watched the Uncut version of the show and decided to rate the drama 10 out of 10. I think this drama is worthy of applause.
Compared to the only other BL drama that included the topic of certain dark concepts, Pit Babe's creators made sure to portray and represent the ugly realistic horrors of those certain dark concepts in a better manner than what I've seen in this industry. I believe the creators did a fantastic job of showcasing these dark concepts respectfully, tastefully, and sensitively. I enjoyed both versions of the drama, though the uncut version added more depth for some of the characters with extra content not present in the cut version. I would recommend the uncut version as the best version of the story, its progression, and its finale overall.
*SPOILERS STARTS HERE*
(Content warning: trigger warnings topics with SA, forced pregnancy, child abuse, abuse, and International Human Trafficking)
I loved the show. It had its novelty with the Omegaverse genre - something I have never seen displayed in media other than in written fiction. Babe as the main character makes sense considering he’s been through it all in this drama and so much of the plot revolves around him.
I can’t help but compare and contrast this drama with the only other BL drama I’ve watched that focuses on Human Trafficking. This drama did not have main characters that felt more like NPCs that were so horny for each other that they barely contributed to the progress of the story. This drama was not tone-death and irreverent over the horrors of real-life crime like gang violence, SA, business corporation, kidnapping, child abuse, and international Human Trafficking.
There were no excessive scenes of abuse against women (though none of the cast were female, I still appreciate the absence of women-targeted violence in the drama. Such things are too common in some shows, BL or not).
The main characters were all affected by the consequences of other horrible people's actions but the drama shows light at the end of the tunnel with a happy ending for the X Hunter team. And I mean the team, not just the main characters. Everyone deserves a happy ending, got a happy ending and that makes me happy too.
This drama was way more intricate, complex, dark, novel, and respectful than I could imagine. This drama didn’t hold back on exploring the genre with secondary gender designations, society’s view of those designations, and any favoritism or discrimination those classified into those designations deal with daily. (The human trafficking conversation morphs into an underground shady black market organization that helps supply the supplier with the financial needs to continue finding ‘special persons’ and ‘adopt them’ into an organization that means these young children harm.)
My favorite characters were Babe, Charlie, Jeff, Alan, Kim, North, Sonic, Pete, and Kenta. Sorry, not sorry about Way.
The montage of moments between the characters and Way at Way’s funeral, makes me realize that this scene was needed. They need this moment to decompress, recover, reconcile, and reflect on everything that has happened. The stakes were very high in this drama what with the Human Trafficking topic and whatnot - a funeral at the end wraps up all of these chaotic emotions and puts an end to this crazy roller coaster of events and emotions.
They went through a lot together and they lost one along the way. (No pun intended this time, I swear!) I’m just glad that it was Way who took one for the team. If this was anybody else, I might have been mad. I guess Way can now be forgiven. I believe his loss helped contribute in the end just like in his life, he helped create X Hunter with Alan and Babe. Now the X Hunter team has new members and a bigger family.
I like that Babe left Way his necklace on his tombstone. Babe has such a big heart, I think it’s admirable how much love Babe has to give. Despite everything he went through, he was still capable of love and forgiveness. This is part of the reason why I was not a fan of Way.
In the uncut version of episode 7, Babe and Alan are talking about Way and his behavior to the news of Charlie dating Babe. Babe tells Alan that in the past, he felt like he “...didn’t dare to love or have a boyfriend. Part of it was because Way made me feel like I wasn’t worthy of loving anyone. He often says that, ‘being alone is the best option’”. Even Alan can’t give excuses for Way’s behavior.
Yes, Alan is aware that Way liked Babe for a long time but once Babe says what he says, Alan lets it go and just advises Babe to give Way some time. I believe he said that so that Way can adjust to their new relationship.
Honestly, this cut scene from the original version should have never been left out. This is such a crucial conversation regarding Babe’s and Way toxic friendship. Babe is upset that Way is so angry enough to throw Babe’s necklace away. It feels important to note that finding out that Babe found out about Way throwing Babe’s necklace away, makes this dynamic so much more heartbreaking. Knowing the betrayal that Babe will suffer in the future because of Way, it feels like this is a profound scene that should have stuck in the original version.
Way was gaslighting Babe for years. Making him believe he couldn’t be loved, he couldn’t date and he couldn’t do anything romantic with anyone that wasn’t Way. That’s not fair to Babe or Way.
Babe reunites with his father, Uncle Reval, and finally has a long overdue heart-to-heart conversation with him. Babe says he wants to start over and hold no resentment in his heart. He’s glad that his father is back in his life though he doesn’t think he can forgive his father right now. Understandable.
I can understand why Babe was so ready to fall into Charlie and hope for a real relationship with him. He breaks his rules for Charlie and gets easily jealous when he thinks Charlie isn't sincere about him. Babe was dying for love and I'm glad he finally has it now.
Creators!! Please bring back Kenta and Pete for season two, I need more of them individually and together. I believe Kenta deserves a redemption arc after he killed Tony and saved the day. Kenta and Kim had growth and character development. They both represented strong-willed characters that never wavered from their original beliefs until they naturally adapted a new way of operating due to personal decisions. Yes, in the end, their decisions helped other people, but they made those decisions because it’s what they wanted. It feels more believable and natural that way and I applaud the writing for having such memorable characters and I hope to see more of them in the next season. I hope Kenta embarks on a long and healthy redemption arc that involves intensive therapy/counseling and reconciliation with the other ‘special persons’ that he unfairly dragged into Tony’s proximity. Give my boy Kim some well-deserved rewards in season two. I want the best for my boy Kim, he deserves it all.
Of course more of the OG couple: North and Sonic needs to come back for season two too. Thank you!
Tony's death was cathartic to watch. I pray all of those kids at the auction were saved. Mentioning them in the second season would be nice. #SaveTheChildren
Alan and Jeff with their matching bracelets made me Super Shy and proud at the same time. Alan is a walking Green Flag, how can you not love the man?
Winner was ironically named. Neither first nor last, just painfully average. He became another blind follower to Tony and he was a great contrast to Kim in regards to a true opponent. He’s a henchman who aimed too high and who didn’t know how low he could go until he was a beaten corpse on the floor. He will not be missed.
I hope the second season expands on the International Human Trafficking subject since this is a bigger organization than what existed with Tony. I want to know what will happen next for them and that the cast is truly safe from being kidnapped, evaluated, and sold for their special abilities again.

O Way cumpriu o seu destino. O Kenta deu a volta e matou o Tony ...

Sometimes entertaining but missed the mark completely in terms of writing
Full transparency here, I had no clue what was "Omegaverse" when I decided to watch this series. And honestly, I'm still not sure after watching the series to fully understand what encompasses this new (to me at least) genre/concept. I thought at first it was wolf related as there is mention of alpha, then they lost me totally at enigma...I think I understood from what was hinted by the show (and also some comments) that men are able to be pregnant as well, but the logistic behind it went completely over my head. All of it was a bit disconcerting but the viewer needs to roll with it without a lot of support from the script. Therefore, my main complaint for the drama is really the lack of proper explanation regarding the lore of the universe. The power of the alphas are never really addressed in a way that make complete sense...My thought process behind that as a viewer, I should not feel the need to do extensive research on the supernatural elements that the shows try to explain to grasp what's really at stake behind the relationships between the characters. That honestly tempered my enjoyment of the watch.
The plot is totally bonkers and feels for its most part like a fanfic fever dream. There are some griping moments in the story and some hot scenes that are pretty good. But for the majority of the show, I oscillated between being entertained because it was so bad that it was good in a way...And then being totally over-it and frustrated because of the characters (often) stupid choices. None of their "plans" felt very prepared and there were a lot of undeserved / too quick forgiveness for some protagonists.
Casting-wise, the actors did an okay job...There were a lot of weaknesses (especially regarding the villains that felt super caricatural) but as none of the cast was helped by neither the scenario neither the production, I will not fault any of the actors for what was offered here. The best relationship was the secondary one but I still will be willing to watch another show featuring the main pairing Pooh - Pavel as their chemistry was pretty good. A lot of their scenes were super cringy and they went for it...That's an achievement in itself.
Production-wise, I wish the action scenes were better filmed and that the music was less basic. There were mainly one song repeating at nauseum when characters were having sex and I don't know, it set the mood with the jazzy beat but got very repetitive as well. Most of the soundtrack felt generic and not good. Product placement was not well done as well.
I would not recommend this to people unless you already know/like the "Omegaverse" genre/concept. It missed the mark for me because I don't know anything about it and even after watching the series, I'm still totally perplexed. I must admit though that there were some entertaining parts to the overall trainwreck provided by the series and I will probably try to watch season 2 by curiosity...Hoping for the writing, filmmaking, soundtrack and acting to be better now that they have soft-launched the "Omegaverse" in Thai dramas.

The ending ruined it
OK.........first off good for them to try and bring the whole Omegaverse to the TV screen, however there were a few areas of it that they didn't really go that far into, and thats why some people (i know personally) seemed to be so confused as to why Babe became so obsessed with Charlie so quickly. The show did mention that Babe doesn't like Alpha scents and Charlie doesn't have one, but other than that it kinda skipped over it and lots of people didn't see that as a reason for their relationship. The whole Way being an Enigma thing was the same. Some people didn't understand it, and it was only partially explained in the show.Personally I loved it, I loved the way they didn't follow the stereotypes of 'tops' and 'bottoms' in gay relationships.........with Babe being perfectly comfortable being the 'bottom' in their relationship, and not one even raising an eyebrow at it. That was great. Pavel and Pooh had great onscreen chemistry, and really worked together well. It's the first time I had seen either of them on screen and i'm glad I did.
Babe was really well written and Pavel knocked it out the park. Charlie was a little less understandable, but that was his character, still Pooh did well with it. Even Nut in playing Way.......you know an actor is doing brilliantly when you want to reach into the screen and strangle their character!
This show was seriously going to be one of the best shows i'd seen in a while with its new Omegverse plot, cinematography, actors and interesting plot..........until about episode 9...........then it fell off a cliff!
I have no idea what happened after that but YIKES!
There was no reason to 'kill' Charlie except for to devastate Babe and separate our two leads for a while...........and it was WAY too long! But even then, while Charlie was 'dead' how they handled it was seriously messy. After Babe had had a breakdown weeping for the loss of his partner, Charlie was never mentioned again by anyone, except once when Charlie himself asked Jeff how Babe was dealing with his death.......it was almost like the show was going 'ok he died, and now we move on'. It didn't work right.
Then you had the Kenta/Kim/Pete/Way mess. They were setting up Way and Pete only to then set up Pete with Kenta, who they had kinda set up with Kim......they couldn't decide what they were doing. And I'm sorry but turning Kim into basically the third stooge with North and Sonic was just a waste of that character after its great introduction.
Babe's father and his magic 'antidote'.........they spent so much time on that.........but in the end nothing happened. That was pointless and just wasted time.
Charlie's 'plan' to save Babe by dying.......again nothing came of it, and it just wated time the writers could have used better by forwarding the plot, character relationships and development.
The end episodes where a mess and really let the show down!
Still I liked the show and would watch it again, simply for the chemistry of the cast and because those first episodes were well written.

I was robbed of so many couples
Not gonna lie I tried hard to like Pitbabe, but it wasn’t as good as how the trailer made it seem and I was so excited for 6 couples in one series, but as we know it would never work since it’s too much. We basically only got 2-3 couples, but the third one barely had screen time which was Sonic and North, but it was also like they weren’t a couple since they never revealed their feelings but their so close so people would think they are one. I was pretty disappointed with us not getting one certain couple which I will talk about later in my review and I knew they would’ve ate this show up, but I hope we at least get to see them together next season. I will have spoilers so be aware.I really liked the concept which was racers because it reminded me of Love in the Air which was so good! On the other hand this didn’t go to well for me. I will be honest I wasn’t digging Charlie as much as others were because I just didn’t like the character which was he met Babe and sneaked in the event to ask Babe to teach him how to drive, but instead he had … with him. I guess it reminds me of the novel Jinx where they need to have … so it would make them preform way better than normal and they would suddenly become beast. Not gonna lie I was cringing whenever Charlie and Babe would be saying that their Mama and Papa to each other because that was giving second hand embarrassment to me. I was sad for “Charlie’s death” because of how sad Babe was and how affected he was after that, but once he saw Charlie again he was better than before. I did love Alan and Jeff, I felt their chemistry was off the charts and they were absolutely adorable in every way because Alan wanted to be close with Jeff no matter what and would’ve done anything to make him like him, I loved when Alan went to Charlie to ask him where Jeff was so he could apologize to him and take him out somewhere. I loved their roller rink date because that was the cutest thing on earth. I was so upset when Kenta and Kim didn’t actually get together because they had so much chemistry from that one scene where they made eye contact with each other. I also couldn’t tell if Dean and Winner were supposed to be a couple since they weren’t shown as much as everyone else was. I also felt if they got rid of the Way and Babe storyline we could’ve gotten a Way and Pete storyline because the trailer for season two is so insane for their storyline because when Pete put the flowers on Way’s grave I almost started crying. Overall Pitbabe had its ups and downs, but overall it was a good show and I recommend it.

A nice blend of supernatural, detective, and romantic elements
What I like about the series is that it's not really a sports movie, as you might conclude from the title. It's more like a nice blend of supernatural, detective, and romantic elements woven into a sports movie plot. There's a mysterious undercover villain that adds an intriguing layer to the story. The characters are well-developed and psychologically complex, making plot twists less predictable, which I appreciate.I've never been a fan of sports movies, but I really enjoyed this one. The original soundtrack is also quite good; I've listened to it many times.
But now, let me tell you about the things I don't like about the series. The final episode is really a mess. The actions of both the villain and the hero lack logic. A small, insignificant slip provokes the cool-headed villain into self-destructive, suicidal actions. Meanwhile, the hero accepts his lover's dubious actions without question. There should have been a stronger foundation for defeating the villain and at least two episodes dedicated to the lovers' journey back to normal.
