holy effing chemistry batman

Whoever decided to pair these two up knew exactly what they were doing, I was ready for this chemistry as soon as I saw who they cast for the roles. The show just ended and I have complicated feelings rating it.

The story is simple enough, cocky boxer Yoryak (Great) meets his match outside the ring, a doctor who has no patience for his attitude, Dr. Wandee (Inn). He runs into our drunk, heartbroken doctor a few days later and takes him home, just for the doctor to drag him inside for some sexy fun. They hit it off a lot better than either of them expected, so when they they end up tangled up in bed again, they decide to strike up a deal.

These actors are much more than just pretty faces, the two leads have depth to them, and their chemistry is CHEMISTRYING. Their playful personalities make them loveable, and the romance that threatens to break into their FWB situationship is like a heavy sweet and innocent syrup they pour on top to fill the show with flavor.

Yoryak's brother and his boyfriend are adorable too, they bicker like an old husband and wife and im here for these wholesome vibes. I was also really interested to see our asexual best friend get into a cute and loving relationship, but to be honest they didn't do much with it and I was disappointed.

Production quality is good, it's GMMTV after all.

Heres the rub, they hit us with a SOLID first 7 episodes, great quality and gave you all the feels, and then the episodes after that were plain BORING. Not that there weren't some cute or sexy scenes sprinkled in, but the plot felt forced and the tension wasn't there. It went from a 8/9 stars for the first 7 episodes to 5 stars for the last 5. I'm going to go with a 7.5 overall because it will probably be easier to push through the boring now that all of the episodes are out, and the beginning was really worth the watch. Hopefully GMMTV will start focusing on the plot quality instead of pushing out so many of these "could have been incredible" BLs.

teased spice and delivered a romcom

Overall: I mostly enjoyed this series, though there were some nonsense character actions and cliched plot points that started in episode 7 which frustrated me. 12 episodes about 45 minutes each. Aired on GMMTV's YouTube channel.

Content Warnings: manhandling, punches, drugging?, grief, trauma, past death, non con kiss, non con touching, held against will, violence, blood, beaten up

Watch Suggestions
- skip episode 7 except watch part 4
- stop episode 8 part 3 at 9 min and start episode 8 part 4 at 9 min
- watch ep 9 part 1 at 10:30 to the end, start episode 9 part 2 at 2:28, then episode 9 part 3 start at 6 min

What I Liked
- intro got my attention, though not a fan of flash forwards/backs in general to start a series
- did laugh a few times
- asexual representation (however wish they had developed this more instead of just a little at the end)
- established couple*
- sweet moments
- excellent grandma, supportive friend & supportive brother
- ongoing physical affection/interest and discussing preferences
- HPV public service announcement/skit
- easter eggs of The Eclipse, room 609 (for 609 Bedtime Story) and 666 which revers to the devil, Tanwarin Hospital
- mentioning that seeing a psychologist was normal
- incorporating marriage equality

Room For Improvement
- the slapstick comedy sound effects detracted from the humor a few times
- the very fictional so drunk a person is passed out and then a few minutes later appeared not drunk at all
- friend left him extremely drunk, he should have said he had a hospital emergency and called a taxi which Wandee then didn't get into
- in episode 2 a character says stop and the other character didn't though it can be inferred the 'stop' was not an actual 'stop'
- nonsense medical stuff like gossiping in front of patients
- the worry Yak brought up in episode 3 suddenly didn't seem to matter
- *in episode 5 Cher was acting immature which is not what I wanted to see (more steam would be great/realistic from the beginning would have made more sense from an established couple)
- corny/too stylized like the neon lights or spray painting 'friends with benefits' on the window
- switching between 2 couples' NSFW scenes in episode 6
- in episode 7 several characters did 'because the writer said so' nonsense stuff, also nonsense doctor things like lack of patient doctor confidentiality
- a dead fish lip press
- stupid "plan" in episode 9 which makes zero sense
- throwing in a nonsense couple (Dr. Ter) and not giving enough screentime to an asexual character/s

Wandee has the personality of a flip-flop

Why was Wandee ready to be boyfriends with Ter, the guy who had the personality of a two-in-one shampoo but needed 12 episode to accept Yoryak? Make it make sense?!?!

Like, I don’t understand why Wandee was playing hard to get? Dude, Yoryak found you in the dumpster, in between two trash cans. Please, stop playing hard to get, he already saw you at your worse and still wants you.

That being said, I tuned in to this show every week because GreatInn were amazing. Loved how their chemistry was chemistrying and the plot was watchable. The second couple were good as well, Cher has my whole heart. All in all, an enjoyable show, but still some things annoyed me, so here we are.

Because, for a show about having a good day, it sure as hell ruined my day.

CHARACTERS

Listen. I liked YORYAK. He was in the running for my fav character along with Cher. I was rooting for him. Sure I had no idea what was up with that random grim reaper character that showed up whenever the writers remembered there’s supposed to be a guy in a cape for the plot-line, but still I liked him.

Then the finale happened and undid all that, making me think he’s an ungrateful jerk. Because his brother, Oye, gave up his dream, got beaten up by loan sharks and almost lost ruin his relationship, all to make Yoryak’s dream come true. But what does Yoryak do when he finally makes it to the top? Immediately dedicate his win to his fake boyfriend with benefits. Literally you met him like four seconds ago!

Dafug you mean this win is mostly because of you, and this championship belt is yours??? No it’s not! Wandee did nothing, this had nothing to do with him! Matter of fact he stressed you out with his indecisiveness so much you lost a match. Get your priorities straight child!

Really, what did Wandee contribute to his victory? Is it because he told him to face that hooded figure? His brother would have told him the same thing if he’d confind in him. Nah, that part was just messed up, especially after that family episode.

Anyway, I still like Yoryak, but that last episode did him no good.

Now WANDEE. Oh, Wandee my boy. Why you gotta have the face of a supermodel and the smile of a cloud, but the personality of a slipper?

Wandee’s inability to make up his mind annoyed the hell outta me. It wasn’t because Yoryak did anything wrong or didn’t communicate his feelings, our boxer did and said all the right things, but still Wandee wasn’t sure even after they kissed. Dude, he brought you home after picking you up from the dumpsters, he’d seen you at your worse and still wants you. What more is you waiting for???

When he kept dragging his feet about being Yoryak’s real boyfriend, I wanted to reach into the screen and shake him. Like, dude you were in love with that shifty arse doctor who looks like he steal pills during his lunch breaks, but hunky boxer is where you get sense? Child, if you don't sit your arse down!

I liked Wandee, he didn’t sit around crying for weeks when he was called vanilla, which lets all agree, dude looked like the poster boy for vanilla, but yeah, he didn’t sit there wallowing, he up and got himself a sexy faen with benefits, and he had a cool grandma to add to his charm, but I sure as hell was given him the stink eye. And I did so every episode after they first kissed. He was acting like a boyfriend, but still didn’t want to commit.

And also, did anyone cringed so hard, they wanted to jump off a cliff when Wandee started singing? I get Thai Bl dramas never leave the house without a guitar, but the secondhand embarrassment I felt, yikes! Like, why is now the time to start singing in front of all this people?

This show had no business being 12 episode. It could have ended the first time they kissed on the lips. Cuz it just dragged after that and made Wandee more annoying by not being able to make up his mind. I kept screaming at my screen ‘Mfer do you want to be with Yoryak or not?

Also, did we ever find out about how Wandee was scared of traffic lights, but like, drove a car? What he do when he stopped by a traffic light?

But like, do we all agree that Inn’s smile is sooo adorable?

Anyway TER! EFFING TERRR!!! I still can’t get pass the episode where he fumbles a beautiful doctor lady for Wandee, only to fumble him too and then try to come back to the dance floor looking for her. THE AUDACITY!! Did Ter think that boss lady doctor would still be waiting for his sorry arse?? Homeboy out there acting like spare tyre and thinking he’s the belle of the ball.

LMAO, what a loser! His sorry arse out there looking like an upside down question mark, and yet he thought he still had a chance with Wandee! Any screen time he had after that vanilla scene felt like I was being forced to accept his existence. Then instead of falling down the stairs in the finale and breaking all his toes and fingers, the writers up and gave the mfer a whole arse girlfriend. WHY? FOR WHAT REASON??? ARRRGGGGG

This world has no balance, why are all my enemies winning this season? First Tong and now Ter.

And speaking of the VANILLA scene. HAHAHAH, Ter out there acting like he collects stamps and have seks with the lights off, calling someone vanilla, dude didn’t seem like he knew any positions other than missionary, cuz what player with game would fumble two people in the span of a minute at a ball?? Vanilla! Boy if you don’t shut up!

I really wanted him to end up alone, bitter, and jobless, but here we are with his annoying arse waving at me and going ‘Bish, you thought!’

CHER AND OYE
I loved these two together. Usually I watch most of the second leads scenes on 2x, but these two had me hooked. Cher the most, the bestest boy, and so supportive. I love the ending they got, so happy for them.

PLOT:
Not gonna lie, watched all the boxing on 2x, cuz that hoodie figure was so uninteresting and if you see them punch once, you’ve seen it all, but the hype of the games and their gym added to their characters, so that was good. The competition thing with the doctors was also just sort of there, nothing to write home about, feels Ter didn't even try that hard to win? Also, them forgiving that bum arse father was meh, and dragging the series only to make Wandee more annoying was also whatever. But, the talk about protective seks and asexual characters was very much needed, so kudos to them. And Plako with his bedroom suggestions, his kinky arse had me rolling.

Anywho, I did like this show, I looked forward to it every week, so I recommend to it anyone who are funs of GreatInn. I’ll rewatch it, just to grin like an idiot whenever Cher pops up.

Another one for the 'adults behaving like teenagers' list...

Going into this show, I was expecting a mature story about romance and the hardships of adult life. What I got instead is yet another show about adults behaving the way high-schoolers who are in love for the first time would. Let's talk about it, shall we?

I'll start with the good things first. Both the acting and the chemistry are fantastic. I love Great and Inn together. They've got really solid chemistry in any scene they're in, which is really refreshing when we get so many ships whose kiss scenes are almost painful to watch. They're both great actors as well, always delivering the necessary emotion or humour in any given moment. They're so good in fact, I think their potential is wasted in this series. I believe a more emotional show, something darker and grittier would suit their talent a lot better than a romcom — maybe something like Only Friends, or Moonlight Chicken. Since I'm a very chemistry-driven BL watcher, I managed to get quite a bit of enjoyment from this series because of these two. They definitely carried the whole thing on their shoulders, and I hope to see them in better projects in the future.

The side-couple was cute, and the characters seemed interesting, especially Yak's brother. However, I'm just not really interested in already established couples, so despite their solid chemistry, I didn't find myself loving them all that much.

Now for the rest of the show... Well, sadly it's yet another very mid GMMTV production, suffering from all the same flaws most of their other shows do. Shallowness in the exploration of themes and characters, bloated conflict, unsatisfying conclusions — it's all there. At least this one didn't feel as cliche as most other of their shows do, so I'll give them that. But still, it suffers from GMMitis.

First of all, the characters feel superficial and their arcs aren't explored in a valuable or even satisfying way.

Dee is a heartbroken doctor with mommy and daddy issues. That's pretty much all there is to his personality. There are interesting ideas there, like him remembering everyone's birthday and wanting to make the day special for them because he never felt special. However, that gets brought up once or twice but doesn't affect the story in any other way than a throw-away line. I couldn't really tell you what the guy likes to do in his free time or anything like that. I couldn't really tell you what he does at work either. We get to see him at the hospital a lot, but he never does any work other than being nice to children and examining Yak's shoulder. Don't get me wrong, I love how sweet he is with the kids, but I expect more from a story centred around a surgeon. It would've been such a great chance to explore the immense pressure healthcare employees are under, the responsibility that comes with his work, how sometimes you cannot save people, and how exhausting it is to work long hours. We didn't get to see any of that, sadly, and it felt like a very beautified reality of a taxing job. Other than being a doctor, his character is defined by believing that his parents never loved him. However, it never truly feels like that influences his character in a meaningful way — at least not unless it's relevant for the plot to be plotting along. Dee seeing one video of his parents being super happy after he was born was apparently enough for him to be healed of his issues. He didn't need to work through it, he just needed to be shown this video. A video he probably should've already seen a long time ago. He has such a close bond to his grandmother (which I loved), so why in the world would she never have shown him this? Either way, one would really think Dee feeling unloved by his parents would affect him heavily in how he forms relationships now as an adult. Maybe he'd feel undeserving of Yak because he struggles with self-worth issues. Or maybe he'd cling to Yak desperately because he's afraid of losing the love he finally receives. But the whole thing didn't seem to influence his approach in relationships much at all. At least it wasn't depicted well that way, or maybe I just didn't see it. But then it's honestly on the show for not making it clear enough.

The exploration of Yak also felt lacklustre. He feels a bit better fleshed out as a character. At least the trauma of losing his mother seemed to affect him more. I really loved the inclusion of him having hallucinations, but those also only ever appeared when the plot wanted them to. Otherwise, it was forgotten about which is usually not how mental health issues like this work. His nightmares also never felt like they were a careful representation of sleep issues, but like a cheap way of getting scenes of him and Dee cuddling. Of course higher stress levels (like before a fight) can cause such symptoms to worsen, but it felt more like a situation of plot-convenience than an accurate depiction. I wish we would've seen more of his therapy sessions or how he usually copes with these things, but the show clearly wasn't interested in any of that. It feels a lot like they just threw the mental health issues and the "you should go to therapy" in there for some woke-points. I genuinely did like his relationship with his brother tough. And I did like certain seeds of what could've blossomed into a beautiful exploration such as Yak refusing to fake-date Dee because he was afraid of what it would mean for him to be outed as queer in the very heteronormative and toxic-masculine environment of boxing. That could've made food for thought and meaningful character development. Sadly though, this was just dropped after 0.2 seconds. In the end, Yak even kisses Dee at the boxing ring, in front of everyone. This could've been a heartwarming and satisfying conclusion to the arc that should've existed but didn't.

Then we have the relationship between these two shallow characters which in turn doesn't end up being much deeper. Firstly, it progresses way too quickly. I don't mind them having a one-night stand immediately, or even becoming regular hook-up partners. Physical attraction like that is a thing. But they didn't just feel like two guys having sex from the get-go, they felt like they've known each other for years. Basically, they acted way too comfortable around each other and way too intense, like Yak giving a guy he basically knew for a week his necklace. Because it all felt so intense from the start, there wasn't any progression of their relationship. Their bond feels the same way in episode 3 as it does in episode 10. It was super obvious that they've developed feelings for each other from the start, so the shoehorned in conflict of Yak liking his friend from college just felt silly considering how every one of his actions pointed at how head over heels he was for Dee. Dee refusing to be Yak's boyfriend when he already acted like he was the entire show also felt annoying. Maybe this was their attempt at showing that the struggles with his parents have affected him, but that was never made clear. Dee was ready to be in a relationship with Dr. Ter, so what is the holdback now? Sure, being turned down by Dr. Ter might have scarred him, but it's not like he had anything to fear with Yak who was very clearly head over heels for him. In the end, their actions just didn't make much sense.

That aside, their relationship was incredibly frustrating to watch. Don't get me wrong, they were cute together. I loved how Yak always keeps it together around other people but lets his guard down in front of Dee. However, the two of them were too adorable for my liking. I do love myself a good dose of fluff in my BLs. But these are two grown men, two adults. Their relationship did not depict that at all, instead making them feel like two high school students who have never dated anyone before. I'm not saying adults can't kiss each other on the cheek and do cheesy stuff like that, but it was way too much. Just think of this: What if you put Tinn and Gun from My School President in the roles of Yak and Dee. It would not feel like these two are too young to play the parts, instead, it would be very fitting (minus the sex). There isn't any difference in how Yak and Dee act to shows depicting love stories between high schoolers or young college students. In fact, even some shows of younger couples have more actual kiss scenes (like We Are or even Only Boo). It's especially odd since their relationship started with sex. You would expect two guys who have the hots for each other to actually kiss on the mouth instead of asking for sniff kisses all the time. The whole 'saving my first kiss for the one I love' trope is getting tiring, especially with a character who's fine with having sex with a stranger. It only added to the immaturity factor, but I was okay with it. It's just that once that initial first kiss does happen, Dee immediately falls into the category of BL boys who treat kissing as some sort of sin that can be done only VERY sparingly. It's supposed to be teasing, I think, but it doesn't come across that way. Just feels like he doesn't want to kiss. Which would be fine if he was the asexual character, but he's not. It's just strange.

Speaking of the sex scenes... They felt incredibly cringe and didn't fit the premise of the show. One would think that a show centred around a friends-with-benefits story puts a big emphasis on the sex scenes. That they'd make them intimate and passionate. Instead, this show fades to black after a few seconds of cringe neck sucking. I don't need sex scenes in BLs at all, but if you do make a show with sex at its forefront, it's just a bit strange to handle the scenes in the way they were handled here. Feels like someone wanted to do a spicy show but was forced to make it PG13 instead, so it's a weird vibe. The relationship of the side couple felt a lot steamier than that of the main couple. Oh, and the worst crime this show has committed: having The Eclipse play in the background of their first make-out scene. I was literally yelling "Don't involve my AyeAkk in this!"

The show's humour didn't land with me at all. It felt overly cringe and borderlined on secondhand embarrassment many times. It also clashed too harshly with the more emotional emotional themes it wanted to explore but ended up sidelining. Which is once again the most frustrating part. Another show with great potential has gone wasted. I loved THAT they included mental health struggles, but I don't love HOW they included them. It felt superficial, but it's a start I suppose. Again, exploring bisexuality in the boxing world would've been a deep ass pool for them to dive into, but they chose to remain in the shallow end with it. The same thing goes with the way they handled the Dr. Ter situation. Exploring what it means to fall in love with someone who doesn't love you back and how that influences you could've been great. But instead of doing that, they just made Dr. Ter despicable which made it easy for Dee to move on. It would've been interesting to see how he gets over a truly great guy, and how that affects his ability to open up to Yak. But nope, Dr. Ter is just a douchebag now.

I do want to give an honourable mention to them including an asexual character. As an ace person myself, this felt HUGE. When I watched the first episode which talked about Dee's friend finding it hard to find a boyfriend since he's ace left me super excited. I thought we'd explore that, even if he's a side-character, but we didn't. Which really shouldn't be a surprise at this point, but I still have hope. Despite it not being explored, the representation still is important and I'll take all the crumbs I can get.

I didn't have a bad time watching this show, even if my review sounds very negative. The chemistry between the main couple was enough to get me through it, but that alone just isn't satisfying to me anymore. I used to be over the moon as long as I got cute scenes of a couple with chemistry and enough fluff, but these days I'm just desperate for BLs to do more than that (she says after having enjoyed We Are, but I've already talked about that in my last review). I don't need the most exciting storylines. I'm totally fine with a friends-with-benefits and/or fake-dating storyline. I actually really like fake-dating. But if you do such a simple premise, at least put in the effort to explore themes beyond scratching the surface. This is another GMM show that would’ve had the potential to set itself apart, but ended up feeling just like any other GMMTV show, just a lot more cringe. I’m all here for adult relationships being depicted instead of all these campus BLs, and I was looking forward to them doing this here, but again, these guys didn’t feel like adults. Inn and Great are great (pun fully inntended (see what I did there?)), but I wish their talent would’ve been put to better use.

Fake It Till We Make it !!

First off, major props for the ace representation! The inclusiveness and legitimate valid portrayal deserves praise!! They nailed it, though would have liked it if they had more screen time.

Chemistry? Chemistry-ing so hard! It was on fire from ep 1 to 12 ! Great and Inn were such a good choice, really hope they team up again in another series.
The supporting characters were amazing ! Their love stories had their own flair and drama and I was all in for it!

The comedy was a bit cringey (in a good way, if that makes sense). Lots of second-hand embarrassment, but somehow it worked for me.

But the way they dragged out finally admitting and committing to the relationship was kind of annoying and unnecessarily stretched, especially when they were always so domestic ALL THE TIME . It just felt way too over-the-top sometimes! They could've cut to the chase sooner!

Overall , If you're into sizzling chemistry, drama, with a touch of cringe-worthy comedy, I would recommend this. It's not perfect, but it's definitely entertaining!

Great Leads chemistry but messy non-romance plots.

“Wandee Goodday” is a very binge-worthy and light-hearted romantic comedy. If you turn off your brain and don’t think too much about the unprofessionalism displayed in the hospital, I think you can enjoy it even more. I had a lot of fun watching the romance develop and there are many cute and fluffy scenes.

I was initially concerned that “Wandee Goodday” would be a cringefest and not to the level I can tolerate. Luckily, it’s more cheesy than cringey. Yoryak (boxer ML) and Wandee (Doc ML) have great chemistry and have many cute and funny scenes. I enjoy how quick their fake relationship is developed and witness the growing affections for each other. Their banter is fun and quite flirty, and a little raunchier than I expected. However, what I was expecting are raunchier bed scenes. Yes, you see naked torsos, but they always have their underwear on. There are kisses on the cheeks, neck and body, but they never feel raw. In fact, I would argue most of the bed scenes weren’t shot very well. So, if you are worried that this might be “Bed Friend” or “Only Friends” level of spiciness, rest assured, you will be fine. In fact, the kisses the leads have are so super sweet and romantic. As much as I enjoy the main romance, I do not like how the story drags their official announcement as a couple for so long. They already act like a couple and they know they like each other, why can’t Wandee just say the words to make it official?

There is a love triangle, it might annoy some of you because of how insincere and clingy this third wheel was. He never bothered me too much, and I am OK with it. The secondary romance between Oye (Yoryak’s brother) and Cher is also cute. I like the contrasting romance of an established couple to the fake relationship of the main romance. There are a couple other mini romance side plots which I think are unnecessary. They feel like an afterthought and not enough screen time is given to fully develop them.

The last quarter of the drama has less romance but more of the other side plots. This is where the writing goes downhill a little. I don’t think Thai writers can write trauma and healing as well as Chinese or Korean writers. The creditors are written off easily. The family animosity was resolved in no time and then we’re a big happy family again. There’s so much standing and talking during a championship match. The scholarship presentation ceremony is over-the-top and super unprofessionally done. No way such a prestigious award announcement will happen with singing, cheering, and love confession. Fortunately the best part of the show is the main romance and it takes up a big portion of the drama. Because for the rest of it, you really need to turn off your brain to enjoy.

Nevertheless, I had a good time watching “Wandee Goodday”. Our main leads are adorable and fun, and they carry the show on their backs and run with it. Great (Yoryak) seems to have gone through training to be a boxer. His moves and punches look realistic. Oh, and I can’t stop admiring all the hot six-packs in this drama. So, enjoy this fun rom-com and don’t think too much about it.

Great actors but a vanilla story

This was supposed to be a sexy and hot series about two grown men in a friendship with benefits, but unfortunately what was delivered was a stagnant plot, without the slightest sexual tension and that wastes all the talent of the actors in a tangle of scenes that seem more like an advertisement for the products for sale on the GMM website.

My biggest problem is the lack of creativity and how the series decides to follow the most obvious and safe paths.

The main characters are very shallow. There is no development in their narrative. It's not like Wandee is a bland doctor who did everything for Dr. Ter and ended up being harmed by it and needed to learn to have confidence in himself. Or as if Yoryak was a famous boxer who ended up falling into disgrace after his mother died and due to his mental health began to lose all the fights. There was immense potential here but no, they're just going to pretend to be fake boyfriends and stare at each other for 8 episodes with the doctor turning his face away so as not to kiss Yoryak and pretending to like other people until they fall in love.

The aesthetics of the series are discouraging and boring. Wandee's apartment looks more like a set from a makeup YouTuber with the neon signs. The cinematography and direction are incapable of creating a homoerotic or sensual image of these two men. Where are the blood, the sweat, the bruises???

The sex scenes are frigid, the composition of the scene and the interactions between the two do not convey the slightest sensuality. And both actors are excellent, beautiful and have immense chemistry, but there is not a shred of sexual tension, there is not a scene that screams DESIRE, SEX AND LUST (with only the exception of the cake scene in the last ep) because everything is very flat and awkward.

It is fun to watch and the chemistry between the actors is engaging, but honestly, as someone who watches a lot of BLs I currently find myself bored with the lack of innovation in these series. There is no moment that makes you scream with anxiety or surprise. As flawed as it may be, Only Friends still had an excellent and electrifying start but here the entire adult aspect of the series is replaced by shallow characters who act in a childish way. There is no dialogue that leaves you with your heart in your hand. There is no attitude that surprises and changes the course of the story. It's all predictable, it's all obvious, it's all regurgitated from the same basic formula used in 90% of the BLs released.

Where's the originality? The sensuality? A boxer and a doctor is the perfect recipe for homoerotic imagery, for an enemy to lovers or a story of two totally different men falling in love. One of the most heteronormative and homophobic sports and one of the most traditional and rigid professions, and there is not a single comma discussing homophobia or any more real interaction.

It is possible to have a hot, fun, comical series and still be able to address several subjects and bring a different perspective. It is really a fine series, but it is more of the same.

It's more of an advertisement to sell cup decorations, printed pants, boxing glove keychains and those horrible children's toothbrushes than a series.

I love the secondary couple and it's a totally unexpected pair, but it works very well. They are without a doubt the best part of this series. The chemistry and the scenes between them are excellent and I wish they had more screen time.

Now Dr. Ter and Taem are two characters that are completely unnecessary to the plot. In addition to Plakao, who could have an interesting arc discussing his asexuality, but is completely ignored.

And I won't even discuss the way the series decides to discuss Yoryak's mental health. It's a joke the way it's developed and resolved as if it were just a lack of motivation for him to overcome his traumas.

And these easy resolutions are something common in the series. Any problem is resolved in the least exciting way possible.

It's an easy-to-watch series, fun to follow and the main couple exudes chemistry and beauty, but there's not a shred of originality here. It's an anemic story, without vision and with a direction incapable of creating even sensual scenes (and I'm not talking about sex and Challengers is there as proof). A huge waste of two excellent actors who could deliver a quality and truly different BL.

Just a lot of fun

What a FUN show.
A charming quintessentially modern Thai BL about a doctor and a boxer who start as a one night stand and then fall in love. Great rep for everything from Muay Thai, to safe sex, to FUN sex, to ace, to bisexuality, to smiley kisses, to the first legal gay wedding in a Thai BL.

It’s a delight and I enjoyed (almost) every single moment of it.

WAY Better than Expected

Not that I was expecting a GMMTV series to be bad, but damn, was I pleasantly surprised by this one. The two latest GMMTV series I have seen (MY Love Mix-Up and We Are) have been pretty anticlimactic, and honestly, disappointing. So when going into this, I had very low expectations, but I actually had a great time watching.

Let's Dive In.

I remember when this first came out during their showcase, and I was immediately intrigued, mostly because Great from Manner of Death was in this, but more importantly, because it seemed that they were showcasing high heat with a little bit of comedy, and I was ecstatic. Again, I had been so disappointed with the series coming out that I didn't bother getting too excited about this one, but I honestly loved it. Even outside of the BL part of it all, it had my entire heart.

Both Great and Inn have undeniably great chemistry. Yoryak is such a comedic hottie who's the champion boxer, and Wandee plays the awkward cutie who's in competition with another hunk at the hospital. With a little bit of angst and pining, I fell in love with these two. I liked the steady build of their relationship: from friends-with-benefits, to more than that, to the talking stage, to the "Yoryak has to show himself"stage, to then inevitably becoming boyfriends. The NC scenes were honestly the weakest part of their relationship. A lot of the time it was just chest/neck kissing and some intense staring (but they were shirtless, so I'm not going to complain too much). Yes, it was high heat, sorta, but not in the "Only Friends" type of way. It was more of a medium heat, with good kissing. Overall, I was impressed with this new pairing, and I'd love to see them again on my screen.

The side couple was super cute. I will say, I usually love to see the growth of a new relationship, so I wasn't immediately enthralled with Yei's relationship with Cher. They had been established for a while, but they were cute in the way they teased one another and Cher was basically the mom of the group. The wedding at the end is very touching. As for Plakhao, holy hell, I didn't think I'd be seeing Drake on screen, nonetheless paired with somebody! If I'm not mistaken, this was one of the first times GMMTV has explored asexuality to this degree, and I loved it. Although I wouldn't have minded to see Drake shirtless, I'm not upset.

Taem needed to have been paired with a girl, not Pod's character who was the worst person ever. Speaking of Pod, I need him in a leading role, because it was so hard to hate that man when Pod is just as beautiful as ever. He smiled, and I would yell to my screen for Wandee to take him back. Sorry guys, I'm shallow like that.

As for the internal drama in regard to Wandee and Yoryak's past, it was by far my favorite part of the series. 9 and 10 were my favorite episodes because it's what made this BL feel so much more than just a BL. These characters had depths and flaws, and eventually came out of that with such complex development that I was tearful by the end of it. Wandee's grandma, Yoryak's complicated relationship with all the members of his family, -- all of it was just amazing.

My only couple of negatives/nit-picking moments: there's no way that Yorkak had not a bruise or scar or a swollen something on his face after fights. It's so unrealistic that it really pissed me off at times. You mean to tell me a world-class champion made it there without a mark? Please. They tried to redeem Pod's character, but there weren't any redeemable factors about him. In fact, I wish they would have made him more apathetic since we were already almost there anyway. Would have loved a scene where we see him on the phone talking about all the way he'll try to get the position behind Wandee's back.

Ratings:

Story: 8.5/10 - The best part about the series, and that even means outside of the BL aspect. Loved the story, loved the development of the characters, and love the couples.

Acting: 9/10 - Great did a fantastic job, being able to go from being funny, to crying, to being in love. Inn does just as good of a job, and quite honestly, the entire cast did great.

Music: 7/10 - I was kind of obsessed with the theme song, especially the oddly placed moan at the end of it.

Recommendation Value: 8/10 - This series is memorizing, and not just as a BL, but so much more than that. I'm hopeful that others can see the beauty behind it, because there is a lot to unpack and you can get easily distracted. but if that's not motivating enough, this series is literally a bunch of hot guys boxing and being shirtless and kissing. No gripes here.

Two opposite poles, an unlikely romance, an unexpected union

Two opposite poles, an unlikely romance, an unexpected union
From the first scene, 'Wandee Goodday' makes viewers fall in love with it. In a beautiful, dimly lit room, a young orthopedic surgeon seeks to ease the pain of having been rejected by his platonic love... by practically having sex with a stranger.
Wandee, the name of the risky and irreverent protagonist of the Thai series of the romantic comedy genre with an LGBT+ theme, after being rejected decides to go crazy and drink away his sorrow. Drunk, on his way home, he meets Yoryak (Gigante), a Muay Thai fighter, and decides to propose to him to have revenge sex. Wandee and Yoryak spend a passionate night together, after which they agree to become friends with benefits.
However, things change when Wandee lies to her colleagues and tells them that she is dating someone. As the official synopsis points out, Wandee then asks Yoryak to pretend to have a romantic relationship with him for four months. The couple goes from being friends with benefits to being fake boyfriends, but little by little, their relationship transforms into something much more meaningful and substantial. Moments of emotional connection, in addition to the physical connection that already exists between the two of you, will allow you to develop deep feelings.
The fuse of the series lights at a good speed through a give and take of more or less witty replies and counterreplies. The quick transition from scene to scene will make BL lovers jump for joy.
Inn Sarin Ronnakiat ('Miracle of Teddy Bear') and Great Sapol Assawamunkong ('Manner of Death'), in the roles of Wandee and Yoryak, respectively, star in this series in which the limits of love and friendship are not at all clear . The audiovisual promises that between sexual dates, the doctor and the fighter, one fighting to get a medical scholarship and the other to win the title of world champion, will experience a rollercoaster of emotions, dramas and personal crises. And this is exactly what viewers expect.
Seeing both actors in action is super hot, and yes, the story tells us that love comes even if you are not looking for it, even better! They are both single, they meet again one night on the streets of Bangkok, they have sex and decide to repeat it several more times without any commitment. But who wouldn't fall in love with them?
Not being emotionally available is the excuse that many people use to start a strictly sexual relationship, but what if your heart really wants something else? That is not the worst scenario for Wandee, but the fact of having run into Yoryak, a boy who will soon be open to taking the relationship to another level.
The always necessary figure of the "killjoy" does not take long to appear, this time assumed by Ter Kawin, played by Pod Suphakorn Sriphothong ('Dark Blue Kiss'), the serious and responsible doctor, who after rejecting Wandee for considering that he is "too vanilla" for his taste, he has come to the conclusion that Yoryak is a bad influence on Wandee, and that he does not deserve to be with someone as good as him, so he will try to separate them, causing problems and discord between the three. But really, is it not that he is jealous? Has he fallen in love with the person he rejected? The series also proposes combats, and not only between the four ropes.
Golf Tanwarin Sukkhapisit, the non-binary actress, filmmaker, writer and politician, directs this tongue-in-cheek comedy adapted from Nottakorn's novel Y 'Wandee Witthaya', with a slight title change by GMMTV.
Characterized by an attractive visuality in its artistic conception, the series surprises us with something more than just a new ship. Because, I can't hold back: what chemistry between Inn and Great. Because if 'Wandee Goodday' manages to surpass other dramas of the romantic comedy genre, part of the blame lies with these two actors in an absolute state of grace. The romantic and sexual vibrations between its characters immediately infect the most cautious viewer, creating a strong empathy with protagonists infinitely better written than the secondary ones.
The verbal humor and the witty retorts and counter-replies that they throw at each other are fabulous. Added to this is the restless and aggressive air of the Thai capital, which seduces the viewer, with the background music, the crowds, the monks walking the streets, the historical monuments, the social and cultural landscape of the days and nights of the Thai capital, boxing matches that promise action and scenes of pure adrenaline.
But to the magic of addressing another historical, social and cultural context, is added the literary basis that inspired Yokee Apirak Chaipanha, who has been an ally of Golf on multiple occasions, to once again put a text with his name in his hands. to be brought to the screen.
In addition, other series by the renowned director are also represented in one way or another, including 'Our Skyy 2', 'Moments of Love', 'The Eclipse' and 'The Bedtime Story'. Golf's narrative fiction and its recurring themes, such as sexual diversity, the complexity of homosexual characters, family relationships, sex, and others, are mixed with Asian authenticity, both in the boxing ring and in consultations and rooms. surgery at the hospital where Wandee works, as well as in her cozy home, all main settings of the series.
At the same time, other attractive stories take place, such as that of Plakao (Drake Sattabut Laedeke), known for his participation in other BL, such as 'Bad Buddy', an interesting character who, in addition to being Wandee's friend, is a person who does not want experience sexual contact with other boys.
Likewise, the story of O-yei and Cherry, Yoyak's brother and coach, and her boyfriend will be interesting, an always expected second couple that increases tensions and conflicts, roles assumed by Thor Thinnaphan Tantui ('The Warp Effect') and Fluke Nattanon Tongsaeng ('Ai Long Nhai'), respectively.
The cast includes AJ Chayapol Jutamas as Ohm, Ployphach Phatchatorn Thanawat as Taemrak and Emi Thasorn Klinnium as Khwan.
The nuances of these and other secondary characters, all good actors and actresses in their respective roles, will be discovered as the episodes progress. Her performances, along with those of the main protagonists, the locations, and that tone that the director knows how to give to the story, is what makes 'Wandee Goodday' a series that, although it could have been excessive and routine, becomes a product enjoyable, fun, entertaining and very addictive.
It's true, 'Wandee Goodday is not the height of originality. Nor does it intend to provide a definitive anthropological approach to friendship and love relationships. I highly doubt that he intends to change television. It's not in their plans. But it seeks to contribute something to the romantic comedy genre, and I mean to be natural and realistic, without completely renouncing romanticism, but without falling completely into the ordinary and vulgar.
I liked how the series set out to achieve what many others of the same genre do not achieve, which is to talk like people today, do the things that people today do and relate like people today do. . It is this naturalness that gives Thai drama the freshness it needs to be credible, the freshness that any comedy would need. Its script and editing become true weapons in favor of the story and its tone, something that is appreciated.
And as I have already said in some way, the great success of 'Wandee Goodday' is its leading couple. In the same way we expect special effects to work in a science fiction series; or that true emotions are what drive a drama; For a romantic comedy to be crowned with applause from the public and critics, its couple has to be credible, compelling, with chemistry. And Inn and Great deliver here exceptionally. The weight of the series falls entirely on their complicity and the nuances of their relationship, something that these two actors do with indisputable charm and charisma.
The story of Wandee and Yoryak makes the audience laugh and cry with their love dilemmas, but above all it makes us reflect on whether there is that person who stays with you through thick and thin, even if at first it seems like just a game.
Because, in addition to entertaining, the series confirms that even when there is no commitment in a relationship, there are attitudes and actions that generate intimacy and emotional ties between two people despite not wanting it, resulting in uncontrollable love. Open relationships can be chaotic, but some have happy endings, so don't stop believing.
We are faced with an unbeatable example that two people can have an open relationship and later fall in love. So don't lose hope if you have a friend with benefits. Whoever said that starting a relationship with sex is wrong is wrong.
But now that I think about it, 'Wandee Goodday' is not exactly a story about friends with benefits. Although it all begins with a sexual encounter, the relationship between Wandee and Yoryak is about the power of destiny and the way it manages to bring two people together.

Standard Stuff

This series is a dichotomous BL, bordering on being oxymoronic. Sometimes brilliant then slipping into utter banality. Occasionally poignant but mostly filled with mundane trite tediousness. Sporadic displays of serious adult behaviors but mostly overshadowed with adolescent/pubescence behavioral patterns acting like petulant teenage children instead of adults in a serious sexual relationship. Occasional storylines eliciting tears and then in the next dialogue nothing but endless dribble of clichés and platitudes. In other words, not generally reflecting real life but an idealized sanitized world peppered with a whisper of reality and an occasional homage to authenticity. The best word to describe this series is: puffery. I simply had a hard time relating to this story.

A BL, so sweet that can make you diabetic!

Great-Inn's friendship goes 10 years back to which you cannot question about their on-screen chemistry. They're too comfortable with eachother. Great being a boxer and Inn as a doctor suits more than anyone. They've portrayed their characters very well.

Fighting scenes were mediocre as this series basically relies heavily on the romance part. But Great did a good job portraying as a professional boxer although they left spaces for improvement. Second half was unnecessarily dragged which made me skip a few scenes as I just wanted to get over with as quickly as possible.

I can't vouch for anyone else but to me there's a downside of this type of rom-com BLs as it got too sweet too quickly that after a while that I started to feel bored. Great-Inn were good but the comical NC scenes that were barely anything, I cringed watching them. They can be bestfriends but lovers, I don't know there's a visible awkwardness between them. They were too sweet to be true. The balance was missing.

But I loved Thor-Fluke! OMG their chemistry was something else. You can literally tell how whipped Thor is for Fluke, IT SHOWS! Their on-screen chemistry was oozing out. They filled eachother's gap in their characters and developed a mutual understanding between them. Too bad that the storyline didn't gave them their much deserved screen time. I cannot help but beg to GMMTV to give them their own series! P' adores his nong so much that I can't help but ask for more! >.<

Overall if you are in mood for something sweet then this one is perfect for you. As for me this was too sweet for my taste.
