Why Indeed

Why Her is a character-driven suspenseful legal drama with romance undertones that explores top attorney Oh Soo Jae’s ambitious rise to prominence as well as her subsequent journey of redemption and finally search for the truth within the cut-throat world of South Korean politics and corporate culture that are mired in corruption all the way to the upper echelons of power. The storytelling includes themes of noona romance, love triangle, revenge-justice, courtroom drama, office politics, corporate mergers and acquisitions, criminal investigations as well as friendship and youth within a university setting. In short, this drama is reminiscent of shows like How to Get Away With Murder, The Good Wife (US and South Korean) and Law School, to name but a few.

Park Soo Jin (Dr. Romantic, The Hymn of Death) and Kim Ji Yeon co-direct this SBS production while the screenplay is written by Kim Ji Eun who specialises in melodrama/ makjang, aspects of which are manifested to an extent in this drama as well. Park Se Jun (Melancholia, Mouse, Vincenzo) serves as music director.

The soundtrack features 6 love ballads, which is indicative of the general atmospherics to be expected. My personal favourite is Sohyang’s cover of Vincent. Full listing as follows:

Vincent by Sohyang (cover of the original by Don McLean)
Beautiful by DOKO
What About Us by Hajin
I Will Love You by K. Will
I'm Here by So Jung
Where in the Fog by Ga Ho

What I Enjoyed

The lead actress, Seo Hyun Jin. Amazingly this drama represents the first work I’ve seen of her in what has been an eventful career that she’s had so far. I’ve become a huge fan because she is beyond phenomenal. She exudes class, charisma and gravitas to pull off such a stunning portrayal of the immaculately stylish and powerfully intimidating FL, Oh Soo Jae. Her wonderful performance here embodies perfectly the indomitable spirit, depth of character, emotional complexity and delicate vulnerability of the characterization the way it was perhaps designed to be. The character may not be without its faults, being shrouded in grey mist through actions and motivations but Seo Hyun Jin’s masterclass is certainly as near flawless as it could possibly be. I daresay without her presence, this drama perhaps would have been found lacking in its execution on so many levels.

This drama goes into the no. 1 spot - at the time of writing and unless something else comes along that dislodges it - of the most complicated drama of 2022 for me. To give viewers a taste of what to anticipate, a brief summary of the content (this list is by no means exhaustive)…

Push-pull noona romance and subtle hints of a love triangle
Murder and crime mysteries, including one that spans a decade
Politics revolving around the Presidential race and ministerial appointments
Corporate mergers and acquisitions
Various judicial wranglings
Longstanding hidden identities and secrets
Vengeance, retribution and justice sought by multiple parties

Expect intense power dialogues, heated confrontations, beast-mode slaps, shocking twists and reveals, among the many plot devices infused into the story, and a dash of makjang for good measure as well.

Production quality is commendable which is reflected through the ambience of the drama smoothly transitioning between mellow romantic sequences, powerful scenes of face-offs, and profoundly evocative atmospherics all throughout. The settings of the various arcs are generally well rendered, including the Seojung University Law School campus, TK Law Firm, and Hansoo Group corporate office. I also liked the framing of certain scenes that come across as symbolic of the state of affairs for which they allude to, which is testament to the excellent cinematography in this drama.

In addition to Seo Hyun Jin, the performances by the ensemble cast are on point, for the most part. Heo Joon Ho delivers a memorable portrayal of TK Law Firm’s chairman, Choi Tae Guk. Of the supporting cast, Kim Chang Wan’s understated Director Baek Jin Ki is also worth a mention, as is Lee Kyung Young in his third drama appearance this year as another antagonistic character, Chairman Han Sung Beom.

What Could’ve Been Better

I feel that the ML Gong Chan, played by Hwang In Youp, could have been better written. In fact, at times I think the entire romance aspect had more potential than was ultimately executed. The connection between the FL and ML is one of the major plot points of the story but is made unnecessarily tumultuous, for instance with the presence of a third party competing for the FL’s attention. The actor himself perhaps demonstrated a rather limited scope due perhaps to the character design which did not allow him to articulate the role even further.

Somewhere at the midway stage, the plot languished somewhat which threatened to derail the entire narrative. Too much time was spent meandering around certain side stories. Fortunately the drama eventually picked up the pace towards the closing stages of the second half to a rousing end. The presence of numerous interconnected arcs and subplots also contributed to the confusion and unevenness of the storytelling and character development, which require significantly more attention to details and effort to piece together the various threads.

I feel the need to rant about a certain plot device that transpires in episode 14. Without spoiling it, let's just say that for the sake of giving this drama a grand finale with another spectacular "twist", the screenwriter resorted to creating an unbelievable scenario that came out of nowhere. Totally unnecessary and which could've been written differently in a number of ways, in my opinion.

Final Thoughts

Despite some issues in the execution and character design of the ML, I actually enjoyed Why Her more than I thought I would. Much of this is attributed to Seo Hyun Jin who carried this drama and without whom, the story would perhaps have fallen flat. If you’re in the mood for highly complex storytelling with complicated plotlines and convoluted dynamics, like I was, then this is the kind of drama that fits the profile.

Not sure why others are giving it a bad review?

I was hooked!! From the first episode. It’s classy and sophisticated. It’s gripping and smart and witty. I’m not watching it for the romance at all, so I guess it’s probably why I’m loving it.

Oh Soo Jae is a top notch female lawyer at a prestigious law firm. It’s basically a revenge story- how she was betrayed and lied to seven years ago; and how she came from nothing to making it to managing partner. However she had to sacrifice herself and her happiness to get to where she’s at now; and have the ultimate revenge on the people who destroyed her life and are continuing to destroy the lives of others.

There’s revenge, mystery, murder, unsolved crimes, outsmarting your enemy, being a few steps ahead, mastermind, scheming, and yes a little bit of romance. It’s not your typical boy meets girl and fall in love type of romance, and I can understand why some are cringing over it. I don’t mind the noona romance.. what I don’t really like is Bae In Huyk’s character. I love the actor, but his character seems rather childish and throws tantrums haha. The love triangle doesn’t seem to quite jive, but like I said, I’m not watching it for the romance.

The bad boss- Choi Tae Guk is one character I really love to hate! Yes- he’s doing the character justice and I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds. The music OST doesn’t seem to have any memorable songs.. so just watch it for the gripping storyline, and Seo Hyun Jin. One of her best roles :)

Update on final episode: [skip if you don’t want spoilers] Choi Tae Guk had it too easy... the impact of the good guys revealing the truth was not portrayed enough. The producers shld have given 2 episodes for that. For all the evil they have done, the 3 fathers, 3 sons and all the ppl involved- MORE shld have been shown on how they suffered and justice be done. The ending was disappointing.

Basically, disappointed!

The title of the show itself seemed so powerful and Seo Hyun Jin as the central character, were the reasons I was excited for the drama. But to their sheer incompetence and my utter disappointment, the show failed to offer anything that would be worth holding onto or keep it in memory, at all. I will be precise, I promise.

Created by ‘Studio S’ & ‘Viu’ and produced by ‘VO Media’, “WHY HER ()” is a Legal-Mystery thriller with romance and comedy. Written by Kim Ji Eun and directed by Park Soo Jin, the show was broadcasted on SBS TV.

Set in multiple uncertain premises, the story keeps at the centre, Oh Soo Jae (Seo Hyun Jin), a successful lawyer at Korea’s biggest law firm, who has worked it on from the scratch all by her own. She is only a step close to adding another history in her name when one of her cases takes unexpected turn and she is made to accept the offer to become a professor at a law school. There, she meets Gong Chan (Hwang In Youp), a student with a dark past and possible ties with Soo Jae. As Soo Jae attempts to gain her position back, she seeks help from Chan and the team of other students formed as a legal clinic. And during that, they discover and decipher truths and mysterious facts related to their lives. Will she get what se wants? Well, you’ll know that if you watch, but I don’t really suggest you do.

As expected, Heo Joon Ho, who plays Choi Tae Guk (TK Law Firm’s owner), is the antagonist but accompany him, other two amazing actors Lee Kyung Young & Jo Young Jin,as two supporting antagonists in the show with moderate screen-times. I don’t think there were any other notable characters in the drama so will save my time even though the drama is filled with many familiar faces. I feel bad particularly for Bae In Hyuk who didn’t have anything significant. Cha Chung Hwa’s limited appearance was joyful for me though.

Plot development is super lousy and (you may not believe) I understood it as soon as I finished the ep 3. Admittedly, the pilot episode was good and indicated a possible decent legal thriller out of the script. But the next episode somehow wasn’t up to the mark and started feeling unesay and by the midway of the ep4, it had started crumbling bad. What happened at the end of that episode did irk me to great deals. I still thought it should be given a chance given the amount of buzz it has and for I did expect from it. However, even after the ep6, I found myself struggling more. The way circumstances were setup felt very lame and the sequence of events somehow were irrelevant.
The happenings in the revelations in the 14th episode weren’t surprising but the happenings were surely unnecessary; the writer became very cruel atp. The finale week was rushed to give the story a closure and honestly “catch-the-thief-at-the-end” doesn’t work any longer ffs. I would say the ending sequence was rather funny, I’d say totally a disaster. All the villains going down at a go isn't what I signed for when I had started this. Forget about consistency, the pacing was too fast throughout the show in terms of screenplay that it felt like they had a lot to show, when irl all those plentitude of elements were lame and futile.

Seo Hyun Jin had to be the person of the show so she rightfully deserved all the screen-share and in fact the most complex arcs to the character Oh Soo Jae. Without a say, she did do her best as a crazy female lead who is always put at the centre and the writer did a good job in presenting A-Z about her story, from her dark past to her current evilness and even her weakest sides. However, in that process, the writer went bit too much over the top, as in making her do stuffs which were not necessary at all. It was a downer to me.

Hwang In Youp need better script to be able to show his skills, ngl. He has been shining for last 2 years and to accelerate his career he must be wise at choosing. Not only the character was shoddy he himself performed below average. The mystery to him made me empathize a little but the underlying suspense did come out in an illogical manner which is another downvote for the show.
Heo Joon Ho is used to acing antagonist roles and his tone of delivery is a favourite. I felt he had sufficient exposure as well as complexions to him as the man behind the tragedy and his performance was way above the par For Bae In Hyuk, I didn’t think the character was necessary or even his presence as an actor was required for the show. Yeah, it’s sad though that his hands are a lot empty but still…

The makers have done a bad job at utilizing the side characters. With so many of them appearing at the same time, not a single one got a fair screentime or even distribution of dialogues, forget about impressive introductions and flashbacks to their stories. The concept of law school and legal clinic plus mentioning them as the possible main premise was a stupid idea to begin with, for the school didn’t even feel like one, the pupils worked like some FBI agents instead of studying or even talking about law and stuffs and the premise always went past somewhere else. It never felt like Lawyer Oh was actually demoted there, lmao.

The public broadcast of disciplinary hearing of Oh Soo Jae who was an attorney at a law firm?? How stupid one could be lmao? And everything getting revealed in that process? How lousy!

Coming to the stupidest inclusion of the drama, it makes me so angry that it was a part of it. Again, I don’t usually complain about the existence and amount of romance in any drama but I can sense when it is forced and when it goes overboard. Given the thriller genre, we did not need a couple out of this but I wouldn’t have complained if it had made any sense. The romance is not just stupidly brewed but also rushed from the beginning to end, basing upon lame grounds. It felt so forced that I was getting mad with each episode, please.

There are 4 OSTs and can be passed as decent Kdrama tracks individually but I don’t understand most of their essences in this drama.
# “Vincent” by Sohyang
# “Beautiful” by Doko
# “What about us” by Hajin
# “I will love you” by K. Will

Final Remarks… The title “WHY HER” is a befitting one given all the misery Oh Soo Jae had to experience throughout as if the writer had some kind of bad blood with the character’s name. And it was the female-centric theme plus Seo Hyun Jin plus, lastly, all the buzz around it during the initial episodes that had me excited but finding out how awful of a script this is, did make me hate it. Neither the story nor the direction, or even Seo Hyun Jin’s screen presence could save the drama. Not recommended at all.

Why??

Too prolonged with boring and old plot twists
Usually, I am someone who prefers long, 16-episode dramas but this one felt too long for my personal liking. The romance in this was absolutely unnecessary and did not feel genuine. The romanticizing of the teacher/student relationship with a huge age gap was too much. The speed at which the ML and FL got together was too fast and during the whole drama, it did not even seem that the main leads were in love. It would be better without the romance.

Also, the story got boring pretty fast. The first half of the drama felt okay (except for the romance) but the more episodes aired, the more boring it got. The script was poorly written. The main mystery of who killed Chan's sister and why was too simple for revenge and politics-oriented drama. The whole plot/story could have easily been told in 10 to 12 episodes. This drama brings nothing new, it hardly keeps the viewer entertained.

It was a huge let-down for me.

Could've been great, then *puff*

It starts off so well. Seo Hyun Jin's acting skills are amazing as always, we have a smart, strong and powerful woman, ready to conquer the world. Really I don’t remember watching a revenge drama with a female lead and her strength at the beginning captivates you immediately. I was SO EXCITED!

But then came all those kids (cute, ok, but out of place, come on, it was supposed to be a battlefield!), then romance (can I even call it that? I kept trying to convince myself of Gong Chan’s relevance as her emotional support, but he’s just an absurd character that came out from some pink magic box), and a super makjang plot (like, seriously? Really? Did you really have to do that?!!!), with an ordinary conclusion.

Seo Hyun Jin aside, my big disappointment this year.

WHY didn't I drop this sooner?

I was so excited to watch this show back when it was announced because of the cast, because Seo Hyun Jin and Hwang In Yeop are brilliant, so the show must be great as well! Well, turns out I was wrong. This was sooo boring and cringeworth, it felt like a telenovela that came straight out from Kwai.

The cast is good, and they acted good, I won't deny it. the reason I didn't drop this kdrama was mainly because I'm a huge fan of HIY, and I like Seo Hyun Jin too. She acted well as Oh Soo Jae, but poor HIY couldn't shine as much as he deserved, this is the first kdrama where he finally got to act as the main lead, it's a pity that things ended up like this. He is an awesome actor, I watched pretty much all of his kdramas except for Tale of Nokdu, and I can guarantee that he slayed on all the dramas he acted until now. His facial expressions are incredible, that's how he managed to shine even on his support roles like in 18 Again, and managed to steal everyone's hearts in True Beauty even tho he wasn't the main lead. But here, he was just... Plain. Boring. Blank. It didn't feel like Gong Chan was a main character, instead it felt more like he was Oh Soo Jae's loyal dog or whatever, everything he did was about Soo Jae, it was like he had no life of his own to care about. They mentioned his story with his half sister every now and then, but his focus was mainly on Soo Jae, it was kinda disappointing actually. It felt like the only reason for him to be on the show was to show up and save Soo Jae every now and then, run after her, and maybe, sometimes, think about his sister. While she was worried about her daughter stuff, her past, her present, her future, TK Law firm, the contracts, Choi Tae Guk, Ju Wan, and her other thousand problems that she had, Gong Chan was solely focused on her problems, and her. He was shallow, that's how I felt about his character. He could've been so much more. They could've had their development together on the story, but it seems like the only developments were given all to Soo Jae. That way, HIY didn't even have opportunities to show people his amazing acting skills, which is such a pity, what a loss. Some people met HIY for the first time on this kdrama, and I've seen people saying that he is a bad actor, that he is boring and etc, but that's just the character's fault, too bad that this is staining the actor's image.

About the romance. Gong Chan was solely focused on Soo Jae the entire series, but she seemed so distant from him tho. While she was on her own world, he seemed to be fully in love with her, in an obssessive way even, I'd say. But she didn't give that much attention to him, she kissed him once, they went out together a couple of times, and that was it. No chemistry at all. I could almost say that there was no romance at all there. The second male lead sucked as well, if he wasn't present on the kdrama it wouldn't even make a difference, honestly. Choi Yoon Sang tried to ruin things between Gong Chan and Soo Jae, and it didn't even bother me, he was such a weak character. Besides, why did he try to ruin things between Soo Jae and Gong Chan when there wasn't even anything to ruin from the start? Their love was cold as ice, idk what Yoon Sang tried to finish ruining there. Then he tried joining his father, which made no sense, then he betrayed his father, which was weird as well. Anyways, he was the most boring character there. He and Soo Jae barely had any interactions, I could even say that he didn't feel like a second male lead.

The rest of the characters were boring as well. Everybody's lives revolved around Soo Jae, it was like nobody had anything else to care about. The whole team of students were like Soo Jae servants. She was the perfect definition of a Mary Sue for me.

Some of the other things that bothered me on the story:

-Jae Yi's death. She barely had any screen time, we barely got to know her, and barely had time to find out that she was Soo Jae's daughter, then she suddenly died in a dramatic scene with flowers flying everywhere, and Soo Jae hugging her corpse later. We didn't have enough time to feel connected to Jae Yi and her story, so, I'm sorry but I couldn't feel so sad about her death. Not as sad as they wanted me to be at least.

-Soo Jae's heart disease. Why was it even mentioned there? It didn't make much of a difference in the story, except for some hurt/comfort scenes, which weren't even necessary. Her fever scene didn't make sense as well, and I'm a fan of whump scenes.

-Choi Tae Guk saying to Soo Jae on his last minutes that she didn't win the game, that something more was about to come, that this wasn't the end, and actually YES, this was the end because everybody had an happy ever after when he died. I was expecting something more when he said that. A final trap, maybe? Something vile, like his character was on the entire series? Idk. I was just disappointed.

-The rise and fall of Choi Tae Guk. He made hell out of Soo Jae's life in the entire show, right? The bigger they come, the harder they fall, I was expecting something UGLY on his defeat. But it was also... disappointing. He just heard everything everybody had to say and killed himself. That's all folks. Gone. He didn't even try to kill someone along with him, just, killed himself. Boring.

-Everybody decided to become good guys on the last episode. The guy who killed Na Jung apologized to Chan, turned himself in, the corrupt guys were caught, everybody decided to follow the laws, to live life happily later, and suddenly everything was good again. What the eff. I know this is a work of fiction, and it isn't supposed to be like in real life, but honestly, it was cringe to see everybody suddenly being good and lawful.

-Choi Ju Wan judging his father. He raped that girl, he thought he had killed Na Jung, he did a lot of atrocities throughout the show, but when he found out that his father killed the girl he was like NO WAYYY. That made no sense.

-Baek Jin Ki's planned revenge failed. After planning it for years and years. That was just.. disappointing. Then they solved everything in a whole other way, which made his former plannings pointless.

Anyways, I had my hopes that the show would get better maybe. It didn't happen. Before anyone says "maybe you just don't like melodramas", I DO like melodramas, I like mexican soap operas, the thing is that THIS ONE was so poorly written I can't stand it.

A lot of hers, and pretty obvious whys... yes power, money and mean men

If you feel like watching a drama that will help you loose all hope in humanity, feel a bit powerless and that that drips evil this is a pretty decent place to find it. Does it offer anything new to the table of evil powerful men do bad **** and abuse their power to their own benefit... not really, but it is still interesting to watch how creative writers can be at finding ways to write evil... You know just when you thought you had seen some really evil men then you watch this and see oh that is another way to be evil... manipulative... and so on and so on.

So if you are like me and enjoy a dose of evil now and then this is definitely a drama worth watching.

If you are in it for the noona romance... you will probably find this drama lacking, not in terms of chemistry of lovable male lead but in build up and screen time for the actual romance aspects of the drama as the drama Big Mouth that is not listed as a romance has a lot more romance than this drama does, so yes it has some romance but not enough to satisfy the romance lovers out there.

There are a bunch of sweet, sweet top tire friendships, in this drama, a hint of bromance, a trio and sisterhood so good it will make you swoon.. okay maybe not swoon but definitely lovely to watch.

There are a few annoying elements here and there, the female leads family is annoying as **** and the way they show sorrow is well executed by the actors but a bit over the top, I blame the director for this. There is a also a bunch of cringy dialog here and there... The pace is fast in the beginning having me say "Oh that escalated quickly" in more or less every episode during the first half. However fast pace meant also fast wrap up (rushed), at times if feels like they are trying to fit in just a little bit to much evil without really taking care of all the evil they send our way... adding twists just for the sake of twisting that feel just unnecessary.

So if you like evil go for it... if not move a long and watch something else.

bingabilaty- high, heart flutter- low, emotional stuff -low... plot -decent... round up- rushed.

Why Oh Soo-jae?

A few people wondered why is the drama named the way it is, 'Why Her?'
Well let me explain from my point of view;
This show became one of my favorites from just the first episode and it's ending.
It lured me in so easily and it made me stay till the end. I don't know if it's because of my love towards Seo Hyun Jin, Hwang In Yeop or just the way the story was unfolding. But it made me stay.
We meet the FL already in the beginning of the first episode, she is a star lawyer who is the youngest partner at TK Law Firm. She has become empty while pursuing only success, sadly. She was pushed out as an adjunct professor at a law school because of an unexpected incident. A twenty-seven years old law school student who is warm and innocent, but hides a painful past with a twisted fate.
From the first moment you meet the FL you already notice how she is, the prickly Oh Soo-jae or Oh Annoying as others gave her the nickname, which I found extremely funny.
She is an impressive character because having a hard time to become a lawyer despite her humble high school diploma background and everyday she battles against sexism, sexual harrassment and class divides in that so called patriarchy system.
After struggling for years in her company, the whole thing made her extremely cold: her tongue is as sharp as her clothes and style, she is witty and barely makes mistakes.
She started ruling over her subordinates with an iron fist, is quite a girl boss and knows men ain't sh*t, and she, by all means, wins all over cases.
Sadly due to those things, she became cocky, proclaiming herself as things she isn't and started having no sympathy for people and her causes.
That sadly becomes her downfall and that's when the actual drama starts. Despite all of her struggles, her hard work, her managment and precise actions;
Why Oh Soo-jae?
Why Her?
Why did she get all the bad things happening to her despite having such a sad past?
When she is kicked out, some might think: “Oh, that’s quite bad, but she kind of had it coming.”
When she ignores her duties as a professor, we get confused. That's when that question might come in again, why her?
Why are people supposed to care about her? Why should they give her a chance?
The answer is not immediately there at the beginning, but as we see glimpses of Soo-jae’s life and her sad past, we warm up to her character, we get to see the real her. We get to see her cry. And mourn. We see her try to commit suicide. We get to see her go through things people don't deserve to go through. We see her fight through this partiarchal society.
But we also see that she had the power all along.
Because there is no force bigger than a woman determined to rise.
No matter what.

Mystery Genre.. I Like it ??

I don't understand, how can I explain that I really like this drama...from the ost, actors and actresses, or the story everything I like.

Some people don't like dramas played by female main characters who are older than the male main characters, but I still enjoy them, because their acting is total.

It's not wrong if we fall in love with people who are younger than us?? as long as God doesn't forbid and it's still within reasonable limits..their age in drama and outside is not too far, like brothers and sisters...except, if their ages are different like mother and child that must be questioned🤫...one I hope please make happy ending, don't make it hang...okay😚❤️👊🏻

Oh Soo Jae

This is another story shows how corrupt and bad are the rich people in South Korea. With money you can buy anything you want, you can even buy people and trust.

I personally really love Oh Soo Jae character in this drama. She doesn't give a damn about anything, she doesn't care what other people says about her. Her knowledge of everything cases she handled are abundant. This character also shows us how to professionally defeat the enemy in a very elegant way. Even if you are surrounded by bunch of toxic people, you are not influent by it.

For those who didn't watch it yet. I strongly recommend you to WATCH THIS NOW!!!

ps: can't wait to see the last episode tonight.

Why, me

Too dragged out, scared of the powerful FL that they not only had to bring in younger guys that loved and helped her, but her whole enemies were men and naturally she kept falling until boom everything was resolved because ppl helped her

• Seo Hyun Jin's acting = 100/10. She simply carried the show
• Soo Jae character = 9/10. Strong, jaded, from a weakling to the girl boss, too many ppl hated her which was ridiculous
• Gong Chan = 1/10. Kdramas can't handle a power couple. They think if the ML is strong as well it'd take away from the FLs power but I hated how he had no presence yet he always ran to save the fl or said things like "I'll be here for you" as if he was her strength
• Choi Tae Gook = 3/10 he's a great actor, but too plain and convenient as a villain
• Choi Yoon Sang = 1/10 he was there again as the ML to make the FL more "appealing", and as a plot device for the ending

Story = 6/10. Too many things were connected. Everything was connected and resolved in the last ep. It was one giant circle with the FL being the center just because.
Development = 1/10. 16 hours of drama just for it all to be solved in 1 hour. That makes 15 hours of dragged out plot, with maybe 1 hour of cheap romance to make the FL look soft

Revenge wise it was as bad as Eve but idk Eve had more crazy, seo yeji was allowed to go all out psycho, here they feared the FL being so self dependent and unafraid of the big guys that they actually spent more time making her look "feminine" by adding romance, making her desirable rather lusted for, and adding the ML to show her vulnerability. Eunpyung was Rael's pillar of support not the force that kept her going

By "help" I mean how every evidence was recorded. Not because she gathered them but they were just there.. ceo pushing that girl? Recorded.. ceo killing that other girl? Recorded. Ceo being the villain that killed everyone? Recorded.. everything revolved around him, everything was solved in one ep. Since it was a her vs him, she couldn't fight back with power but rather, things came to her and suddenly everyone wanted to help

Seo Hyun Jin at her finest

This may have been Seo Hyun Jin’s finest performance. Her portrayal of Oh Soo Jae, the top lawyer at the TK law firm, was flawless. There was mystery, suspense, excitement and some romance. You will be captivated by her blend of strength, beauty and intelligence. From the moment she walks on the screen until the last moment she is in total control.

She portrayed a strong female character from start to finish. I love watching strong female leads and she didn’t disappoint me in this fantastic drama. I was captured by her presence on screen and I was totally immersed in the story. Each episode had interest and excitement so the episodes flew by for me.

I’m a romance junkie and Seo Hyun Jin is one of the best in the business showing on-screen romantic chemistry. Some feel the romance was unnecessary, but I disagree. It blended her betrayal from a flawed marriage into hope for the future. Romance wasn’t the focus of this melodrama so it gave the viewer a feeling that some happiness can be found when the world is swirling around you in chaos.

The story of people in power taking advantage of people weaker than them was well constructed and left you with thought provoking moments. Is the concept overused? No concept is overused if the script is well written. In my opinion, this drama was a masterpiece.

I couldn’t stop watching which is a pleasant indicator that I’m watching something good.
