All the usual angst
Manipulation ✔️ Bitchy ex- girlfriend (the worst I have seen in any drama! ) ✔️ Lots of misunderstanding ✔️ Lack of communication✔️ Love triangle✔️And yet somehow, I didn’t skip much and finished all the way through ? I did find it quite engaging although the storyline was annoying. There were some nice moments between the main leads, and they did manage to express and communicate their feelings.
Not a great watch. Only if you have nothing better?.

I Like it I think is cute n it made me smile but no dimples ;) (contains spoilers at very bottom)
To be honest i really like it. Ik the review before me was ranting so maybe it's just bcs lately i havn't seen any good romcom cdramas. I think the story is written well that it kept me intrested without being frustrated.I liked how the girl is smart, shes not the typical i dont know much. not only is she getting by but she is act hella smart. yes this isn't abt her career as she chose a different path, so maybe it's not like a different, but i think it rlly adds to her appeal. Also they way shes intertwined with the ppl (guys) life. it just seems very natural. (even though at the same time not bcs how even does that happen.) At first it might seems like so much, like it seemed like it was literally 4 guys after her but it isn't. like it's just 2 n theres no like bad triangle (like ones that u rlly felt for the secind lead).
I HAVE TO SAY HOWEVER *SPOILER* that there is lowkey complex relationshipy thing. so if ur not into that sort of thing like maybe not, but idt its bad. around ep 10 ish i felt a little frustrated but then u get over that relatively quick. If u act want to know ill spoil in the bottom. I was even tempted to score it in the first 6-7 ep bcs i just rlly liked the drama (just refreshing compared to the ones ive been recetly watching that i kept wanting to drop)
Even though the first episode seems like shes arrogant or like that type thats all like i am entitled to this bla bla, i think it was more of just her not knowing what to do, bcs after shes rlly not like that. When she gets angry it makes sense and its usually implusive anger on both parties which everyone can relate to. The guy at first is also like i didn't love the way hes acting but tbh in the begginging i didnt rlly care abt the guy i was more invested in her, and her life in the company and her roomate, friend, and senior alumnis, but then i started caring abt the ML and FLs relationship.
I also thought it was pretty funny, there were times i was act lauging, (but then again as mentioned, recently i havn't been invested in any other romcom cdramas, ive just ended up skipping a lot of it, or dropping them, or just watching the ending so maybe it was just that contrast). Also i liked her frinedship with the roomate. it's rlly cute, and i liked how they didn't make a single moment when he liked her for more, bcs then it would've been too much.
- ML has ex gf that i think dumped him n came back
- she is big share holder so second lead "plots with her" (i say that lowkey lightly bcs not extensive plotting) both so that the FL can go to second lead company and also bcs he is from a rival company and it can impact ML company.
- second lead has like VP or smth like that that likes him so thats a whole thing.
- Roomate is brother of second lead but is on ML side, but bcs they live together that was lowkey a big thing with ML. also her friend likes roomate. but scared that she likes him too bcs they live toether (but this wasn't a big thing)
- FL has ex from college in america that cheated on her for rich person daugther and works as pres at big company that she previosuly worked in and is the company that the ML n SL are fighting for a deal with. (the conflict between this guy n FL ends pretty early tho so like)

I can't stop smiling through the entire series
(please excuse my english, it isn't my first language)This drama is SOOO CUTEE! It has everything from romance, friendship and family value in it.
It revolves around this girl who wanted to start over a simple life in china after being a hotshot programmer back in the states. She ended up living with the 3rd male lead - no romance involved here, they became best friend, I absolutely love seeing them supporting each other. It's the first time I see cdrama do opposite gender friendship so well.
What I appreciate most in this drama is the males fight for the girl fairly, no evil tricks involved, and the girl knew from the beginning whom she likes, she knows how to stand up for herself, even when the psycho ex showed up, she was being a psycho by herself without really damaging the relationship.
If you need a cute heart fluttering drama to watch, this drama is for you. I really can't stop giggling through most of the episodes.

What A Surprise
I enjoy this drama. At first I thought it would be the basic girl likes the second lead an then the first lead but there is more to it. There was a prier relationship that left her hurt. I really like the three couples. We learn about men who are hurt from previous relationship and men who are afraid of a relationship. The main lead herself was devastated by her previous relationship and how she has to begins to trust again. I like that when the male lead gets confronted by his obsess previous girlfriend how he defends his love for the female lead character. That he stands by her side no matter what the ex-girlfriend try's to pull. The second couple is great how they learn about each other and stick with each other to overcome obstacles. The third couple is the most complex and the one that I related to the most. A girl has to finally give up and stop waiting for hope that might never come. This couple has a happy ending but it does not always works that way. The actors performance are great. Both the male actors and the female actors. It kept me going for 24 hours with no sleep because I could not stop watching it. I like the story line. The only thing that disappointed me was that I wish it had a stronger ending. Even do we see all the couples together it left some holes at the end.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

MORE RANT THAN REVIEW Female lead is talented in her career but wants to start over again.
I was quite intrigued by the summary of this drama. This drama started off very decent and then it went downhill for me! The only redeeming factor is the female lead. I really liked how she was written.Female lead once had a prestigious life, studying over seas, graduating from a well known university, worked at the top 2 IT companies, had a boyfriend, and best friend, but everything came crashing down when her boyfriend married the boss's daughter and her bestie died of a sickness. She is stricken with grief and goes back to home to start over again. There she accidentally runs into the 3rd male lead who rented the female lead grandma's house. She lands a job as a front desk in their company. She just wants to be simple and not let anyone know of her past. I really liked the female lead because she is humble, and enduring. Despite her ex boyfriend's wife trying to humiliate that doesnt let her down! But to me she forgave the male lead way to quickly....
There are Three "male" leads but not actually when you start to watch it you can definitely tell who the main main lead is. Two out of the three are brothers and the last one is the friend.
Male lead- the boss to a tech company, he is blunt, straight forward , cold and a block head when it comes to relationships. He was also the childhood friend of the female lead. In the first few episodes her already recognized her. As for the female lead, she remembers him little later because he changed his name. I honestly didnt like his character for how inflexible he was and didn't try hard enough to express his feelings for the female lead. He is one of the reasons why i dropped this drama. He is so petty and explosive with his emotions, like when they get into heated arguments, he becomes an ass.
2nd male lead- Also the boss of a tech company, the rival of the male lead. 2nd lead is cunning, deceptive, and is charming. He was the senior of the female lead while at university. I also dont like him because he is too much for me. Does so many things to try to make the female lead try to fall in love or show that he likes her. He is so manipulative and uses many ways to get her attention which I dont. Like he knew that the female lead ex married someone else and she got dumped. He would invite her to the party, which he knew the ex was going to.
3rd male- He is the housemate of the female lead. They are strictly friends. He has a chill personality who likes to game. and takes pictures. He is a programer or IT in the male lead's company, 2nd and 3rd are brothers but they are on bad terms!( out of the three I like him the most!
To me the female lead and the male lead's past didnt really add much points. It did in the beginning, thinking it was cute, but I was so turn off by the male lead's actions and personality. Like seriously, off all the dramas I have ever watched I think he is my most hated male lead to date!!! lol Also male lead isnt very handsome in my opinion.
Also I didn't like the fact they that introduced the ex of the male lead. She was annoying as hell! Bitch ass , who downgraded the female lead. If i were the female lead i would slap the annoying ex girlfriend. I mean her ex boyfriend wife's humiliation isnt enough , they need to add the male lead's ex gf... horrible!
I did enjoy the music tho.

Nice
Its the brothers from Lovely Swords Girl! Although they were not all biologically brothers here the vibe still is the same. The characters personalities were somewhat the same with their characters in Lovely Swords Girl (well it makes sense since the writer/director is the same). Because of that, I actually thought that the leading lady would end up with the "older brother " from Lovely swords girl (the poster that i saw was different from what they used here and i didn't watch the trailer). Honestly, I only watch this because of Li Jia Hao. I though he was going to give a good fight for the Leading Lady, but it turns out he was just a MALE-FRIEND and it was conveyed immediately in the series (i don't think this is a spoiler cuz you ought to know once you watch a few episodes). I WAS ROOTING FOR HIM TO BE THE ONE ENDING UP WITH THE LEADING LADY, cuz of the things he have done and all, i also thought he'll fall in-love with her as well but.... oh well. All of them have their own pairs in the end so its a good ending.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Inconsistent Storyline
I felt there were a lot of plot holes. While there was good potential the writing didnt make sense in some parts. Also the resolution without accountablilty of the 2nd ML was upsetting. Im sure he would have still eventually beem forgiven. But none of his awful deeds came to light. He literally preyed on the FML and gaslighted her the entire series. He coludded with the crazy ex and stole corporate secrets from the ML. I just prefer dramas where the vad guy is held accountable. Not rewarded. Also the FML never stood up for herself. She just stood there why these other womean ripped her to shreds. But with the ML she was fierce and spoke her mind. All in all good potential but poorly executed in my opinion.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
watch it. its super fun and refreshing
wow. im so glad i didnt listen to the pinned reviews. this show had its flaws but it was honestly so unique i was never bored. it was sort of slice of life, with the most interesting characters and a wide diversity and settings that you don't usually see in cdrama. i guess i was just, intrigued by the freshness of it all. of some originality in the ceo/secretary type of drama. (of course it has stereotypical things too but it was dealth with a sense of realism???? maybe the acting wasnt as cheesy as usual so even cliche scenes were just fun to watch)it was like watchin a serious network make a romcom, with unique actors (omg, thank you diversity. no one looked the SAME, and they all had character, even the crazy exgirlfriend, she was just fun to watch on screen because of how insane she is... oh yea, and they can actually act)
im not one for "harem" type shows, but this one did it amazingly (mostly cause it was only a harem type show for like 1 ep) and the only reason i thought it was was because they actually CARED to explain the other characters and their backstories and flesh them out and i mistook that for "oh, there must be multiple main guys in this" like, i forgot that NORMALLY, supporting characters arent just there to be fillers and they have their own stories to tell.
finally i liked that the FLs background and motives weren't cliche. i really liked her story, her approach to life, there was tradegy in her life (like a lot) but they never focused on it, its something we've seen too many times)
i just.... really liked this show for trying to do something different.
and i love the younger brother. he's such a nice guy.
ok plus, each love story was really interesting. lol, like even the playboy ceo and his cold vice president, i wanted so bad to see if they'd end up together. this is a great watch if you're just bored with every cdrama.

Not for me
Based on the non repetitive wardrobe of the cast, setting, and featured venues, I reckon this drama has a fair budget, or at least it doesn't feel/look low budgeted to me.Unfortunately, the story/plot didn't work out for me. I found most of the characters annoying and somehow always shouting. Main CP didn't clicked for me as well. Didn't feel the FL right from the first episode especially with her rude attitude. ML looks creepy at times and almost always have those reddy/bloodshot eyes.
I enjoyed watching He QiZhan though.

Disappointing, had so much potential
This show starts off nice and interesting but then as it goes on the storyline is boring and slow. To add on the main leads have no chemistry what so ever and the male leads personality is bland and boring and just overall the worst, he keeps arguing with the female lead and getting into the stupidest fights. Honestly the female lead has more chemistry with the third lead then the first and in my opinion he would have been the better role for the male lead bc he anyways doesn't like his brother, the other love interest for the female lead, but to continue on with the second lead, can you really call him the second lead if he doesn't even express any romantic feelings towards the female lead, it's more brotherly friend type of vibe and as for the third lead he's just your typical second lead who is the rival of the first lead. Moving on to the side bitch, first of all, the male leads ex-girlfriend is so unnecessary like if you want to express that the male lead has been yearning and waiting for his "first love" to come back then why did he get a girlfriend it's just random, and adds unnecessary drama.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Interesting premise but lacks a strong follow-through
I got to the start of episode 22 and was thinking a lot about how I was really bored by this point in the series. I ruminated on why I got so bored, when the series had, to me, a strong premise, and I have a few thoughts.First, though the premise itself was strong, the opening of the series was difficult. Mainly because Lucky Tang's character was introduced to us in such a bizarre and off-putting way. If you started this series and were totally put off by her actions, I can guarantee you that this weird entitled behavior of hers gets dropped pretty much after the first episode. I have no idea what the writers were thinking by introducing her character to the viewers in this way, especially considering what you learn about her in the following episodes.
Which leads me to the main thought I had regarding this character and this series. What we learn about Lucky is that she used to be a highly skilled programmer at a top software company, but this career ended because a couple of factors: her best friend died of cancer; her mentor unexpectedly died as well (I can't remember why); and her boyfriend, who also worked with her, cheated on her with a woman whose father owns this software company (this was actually fuzzy, but it's what I remember). As a result, a demoralized and grieving Lucky decides to quit her job and move back to China to start a new life. She takes a job as a receptionist in another software company, not giving her real resume, because she says she doesn't want a 'career' anymore; she just wants a normal job that will pay her bills and not make her life difficult. This company turns out to be run by an old childhood friend, whom she doesn't recognize yet, Lu Zhiyi. This is her main love interest.
To me, this is all super interesting and intriguing as a set up. But there are a couple of issues and some missed opportunities here. For one, if Lucky wants to really get away from her old career, why would she take a job at another software company? I really think this was a too obvious way to create drama for Lucky. By doing so, she ends up still in her ex's orbit (though on the periphery), which seems like a strange move when she wants to hide the fact that she's a programmer and get away from him. And when more drama unfolds at her new job, I just kept feeling like she should quit. If she really didn't want to end up in the same place she was before, why would she put herself in a position where that could happen?
Second, in regards to career vs jobs. I really thought there was something interesting being said here about the way we perceive success and hard work. Lucky's personal losses really seemed to put into perspective for her the preciousness of life. There was an implication here that real fulfillment doesn't necessarily come from career achievement, but rather by spending as much time with your loved ones as you can and having fun. Her personal goal of reliving her childhood and finding childlike joy in life, seemed like it could have been more poignant if it was more developed as the main drive of the series. Later, it comes up that she want to build an app that would help adults relive their childhood, which ends up being a project at Lu Zhiyi's company. I was kind of disappointed by this. I kept thinking that she could just build this app by herself (plenty of people build apps independently), which would have made more thematic sense than relying on her boyfriend's money and resources. Why did it end up seeming like Lucky couldn't actually achieve anything without, you know, a man? (eyeroll).
Then there's the question of the ex and the woman who is now his wife. Again, this was all kind of fuzzy to me, but I felt like it was implied that a) he cheated on her with this woman to get ahead and b) this woman used her wealth and position of power to make Lucky's life miserable. I really felt like if they made these two implications stronger and then made that a central theme to the romantic drama, this series would have been so much more compelling. Especially when her new love interest's ex girlfriend, Gu Ling shows up. I'll preface this by saying that the actress who play Gu Ling really did an amazing job at making her the most unpleasant person on the planet. Gu Ling is a wealthy heiress who is a big shareholder of Lu Zhiyi's company, and she comes in basically on a mission to get Lu Zhiyi back and crush anyone who stands in her way. I mean, I could talk about the Ex Who Won't Let Go trope, but I won't because what's the point. What I will say was this was a perfectly missed opportunity to create a dramatic parallel between this situation and Lucky's previous situation. In both instances, a more powerful person uses their wealth and privilege to make her life a living hell. The emotional difficulty for Lucky would be to reconcile these situations and see that they aren't the same, but also to have a moment of relief at being able to take back her own power, therefore overcoming the emotional trauma of what happened before.
The fact that this was so obvious to me, but was completely missed in the story, seems to me a case of just reductive laziness. Instead, we get trope after trope after trope and not enough compelling character drama that feels like it's actually saying something. So by the time Lu Zhiyi and Lucky get together, I feel bored. From the way the series developed, you'd think the only point of conflict was whether or not these two crazy kids would work it out, so when that happens if feels like there's really nothing left to watch. In that respect, the series took an interesting premise and characters and flattened them out until they were nothing but stock characters playing out trope-filled plot points. And while there were some fun moments, I'm disappointed by its unfulfilled potential. So, unfortunately, I'm not going to continue watching. :/
