Himawari: Kenichi Legend (2020)

Good Enough

Japanese mini series " Himawari: Kenichi Legend " is a quirky comedy and it centres around the relationship of a daughter and her father.

The comedy element of the drama is the main genre of the story, and the drama doesn't shy off from being overboard with the costumes even with the settings. However, the performances were smooth by everyone and, thus, it didn't feel awkward or badly handled, even though some scenes were silly. Still, it's a well crafted comedy and brings some laughter.

The romance, on the other hand, was pushed aside and was there to fill in the gaps, which was fortunate, as it wasn't something special to begin with and the father-daughter relationship was far more interesting, intriguing, and entertaining, especially since Kenichi #1 was more quirky than Kenichi #2.

The rest of the characters were only there to support the main relationship and the viewer never gets to know them other than their superficial descriptions.

Finally, the soundtrack was pretty good and fitted the atmosphere of the story. The information about the area where the drama was taking place was another cute factor.

So, overall, seven and a half out of ten.
