One of the best car actions in Korean movie
Gripping action scenes and very clean car stunts, great retro vibe soundtrack during car chases, it's on par with the one of best car actions you can find in any Korean movie. Meanwhile Park So Dam looks so freakin cool when she nails those action scenes perfectly, her edgy styling and gaze fits so well in the antihero character. The threat is frightening enough to keep you at the edge of the seats, overall storyline works fine for an action movie, which makes it quite an enjoyable movie experience.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
Park So Dam in her first solo lead role!
I was curious after finding out how Park So Dam got ready for her role and the determination she put into the preparation. The cast of this film is excellent, everyone did a great job to make the film entertaining. The story was also very good, gripping and natural even tho it felt boring (like the plot was dragging) at some moments Overall, I enjoyed the film very much. Even the effects (blood, shooting et cetera...looked very well made). Park So Dam did a great job, truly enjoyed her acting here.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
A fun ride, but...
Special Delivery is an action movie that is certainly not ground-breaking in any way. When I am watching action movies, my goal is to be entertained and throw my logic out of the car window. However, in this case, the movie did not offer the kind of entertainment that would make me turn away from all the ridiculous things that were happening at times. The plot was structured like many films of the same genre, and the action sequences were definitely fun to watch and very well-made. In other words, if you are looking for some nicely shot and fun to watch action scenes, you will surely be entertained.
What ruined it for me the most was the acting. The female lead is a badass protagonist, and Park So Dam definitely didn't have a hard job, when it comes to the acting department. Her character was mostly expressionless, but in my opinion, she didn't deliver even in the scenes that she was supposed to show the slightest bit of emotion. She was very wooden. The main antagonists mostly overacted and to be frank, I couldn't take them seriously. Generally, the majority of the cast was mediocre.
It was obvious that the scriptwriter tried to make this an action film with some kind of emotional impact, taking into consideration the way the plot progressed. However, the characters were poorly developed and the acting was lacking. As a result I didn’t feel anything for any of them.
All in all, even though there are some aspects that are there in almost all action films, like people not dying, unless the script says so or individuals suddenly turning into super humans with great abilities, the acting and the way the plot was structured didn't make it entertaining enough to make me feel for the characters or ignore some of the absurd things that were happening on screen. Don't get me wrong though. This is an entertaining ride and an ideal movie to watch, when you are looking for some fun after a long and difficult day.

Action but with heart
Not a big Action fan, but if you love driving you will love this one, the driving scenes will keep you at the edge of your seat. Loved the anti racism education, very subtle from the side character. A little to bloody for me, so you might skip those scenes. But well thought out Leads and characters. All in all a good movie to watch, The end was a bit unrealistic but this is just my opinion. The boys character was played amazing. Laughing or crying, he did an amazing job. The main female lead was not only beautiful but cool and tough with a heart out of gold. Best actor for sure was chubby, the cat. Probs to that.Considerați utilă această recenzie?

Fun and suspenseful movie
South Korean film “Special Delivery”, whose theatrical release in South Korea was incidentally delayed for around 2 years due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, is a competent genre product to be appreciated for its taut and efficient handling of story and action. While it is clearly influenced by a number of well-known seniors ranging from Walter Hill’s “The Driver” (1978) to John Cassavetes’ “Gloria” (1980), the movie has enough style and substance to engage and entertain us, and it also confirms again to us the considerable talent and presence of its lead performer.Park So-dam, who has been more prominent these days thanks to her delightfully saucy performance in Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning film “Parasite” (2019), plays Eun-ha, a tough young woman who has earned her living via her particular set of skills. On the surface, she is just a mere employee working at one shabby garage in Busan, but she is actually a very skillful driver who can “deliver everything that the post office service does not handle”, and the opening sequence, which is reminiscent a bit of the opening part of Nicholas Winding Refn’s “Drive” (2011), shows us how deftly and swiftly she handles her latest delivery job without any misstep.
However, not so surprisingly, this delivery job turns out to be much riskier than expected. When Eun-ha is waiting for the client at that certain spot, a young boy is frantically running toward her car, and she instinctively senses that something is terribly going wrong. At first, she considers leaving the spot as soon as possible without looking back at all, but, probably out of pity and compassion, she decides to let the boy get into her car, and then they soon find themselves chased by a bunch of thugs.
Around that point, the movie lets us have a pretty clear idea of what is going on around Eun-ha and the boy. He is the only son of the client, and, before he gets killed in the end, the client gave his son an incriminating piece of evidence against someone with whom he has been associated for years. Of course, that criminal figure in question and those thugs are quite willing to retrieve this evidence by any means necessary, and the situation later becomes more complicated as we get to know more about how dangerous and powerful this criminal organization really is.
As instructed by her boss, Eun-ha could just let the boy handled by one of her boss’ criminal associates, but she eventually decides to take a much harder way for the boy’s safety, and the movie accordingly gives us a series of well-executed moments including a suspenseful scene where our heroine must outwit her opponents as soon as possible. Although her driving skill is utilized less than expected, you will not grumble at all as watching a gritty vehicle action sequence which will grab you hard from the beginning to the end, and director/co-writer Park Dae-min and his crew members did a commendable job of vividly conveying to us many physical impacts during this impressive sequence.
Meanwhile, the movie also pays a lot of attention to the growing relationship between Eun-ha and the boy, who is not just a story element to be wielded in one way or another. Although she simply follows what should be done in her view, Eun-ha comes to care about the boy much more than she admits on the surface, and the boy also comes to depend a lot on Eun-ha as being reminded more that there is no one to help him except her.
It surely helps that Park and young performer Jeong Hyeon-jun, who also appeared as one of the main characters in “Parasite”, click well with each other on the screen. While confidently embodying her character’s toughness and resourcefulness, Park ably demonstrates another side of her talent here in this film, and her terse but undeniably strong acting is complemented well by Jeong’s unadulterated natural performance.
In addition, the movie assembles a group of colorful performers around Park and Jeong. I will not go into details for not spoiling any of your entertainment, but I can tell you instead that Kim Eui-sung, Song Sae-byeok, Han Hyun-min, Yeon Woo-jin, and Yeom Hye-ran are well-cast in their respective supporting roles, and, as a longtime cat lover, I will not deny that I smiled during a few tender scenes between Eun-ha and her grumpy pet cat, who cannot help but steal the scene a bit from Park whenever the camera looks at it.
On the whole, “Special Delivery” did its job as splendidly as expected, and I and a friend of mine had a fairly thrilling time as watching it at a local movie theater during last evening. As a dude who knows a lot about vehicles, he pointed out some unrealistic moments in the film after we came out of the screening room, but both of us agreed that the movie is still entertaining enough nonetheless, and I am sure that you will agree to that after watching it.

PROS
+ Every single car scene is exciting, impressive, and thrilling
+ The main characters are wonderfully likeable and show great chemistry that conveys an emotional response
+ Even the music is fitting and adds a charm to the action (although it's not as memorable as the "playlist" in something like Baby Driver)
+ This is one of those action thrillers with a good amount of substance to digest with some emotion-swaying drama elements
CONS
- Sometimes the plot takes a backseat to the action due to its simplicity
- Eun-ha (main character) is such an interesting character, but there are only a few details about her background

This is definitely one of the best movies released this year!
I really hope a lot of people see this. It's unusual to find an action movie with this much heart.

Fun like Fast & the Furious!
If you are looking to get your fill on some thrilling car chase scenes, I would suggest giving this entertaining movie a try! Sure, a lot of these maneuvers you've probably seen before, but it's still a lot of fun. The story is not going to win any awards in originality, but the action more than makes up for it. At first, I didn't quite believe Park So Dam as her character as I found her nonchalant expression a bit too exaggerated, but as time went on, it started to get better and I started to believe her and her ass kicking. The kid also did a great job with acting esp for someone so young. I'd def recommend this to those of you who feel like watching a fun popcorn movie!Considerați utilă această recenzie?
A true to life action movie
In this film, there are only a handful of actors who manage to bring their characters to life authentically, and among them is Park So Dam. The storyline itself is quite engaging, and I find myself appreciating the small details that unfold throughout the movie. Park So Dam's portrayal adds a layer of depth to the narrative, making it a compelling and enjoyable watch. One aspect that truly sets this movie apart is the realism injected into the fight scenes. Unlike many other action films that tend to rely on over the top, exaggerated sequences, this movie takes a refreshingly grounded approach. The fighting choreography feels authentic, bringing a sense of believability to the physical confrontations. This departure from the norm in action cinema is a commendable choice, offering audiences a more relatable and immersive viewing experience.
The protagonist's portrayal is another notable highlight. I appreciate the genuine nature of her character and how she navigates the challenges presented in the story. What stands out is her fighting style, which resonates with authenticity. It reflects how any other girl might approach similar situations if placed in the same circumstances. This relatability adds a unique layer to the character, making her journey more emotionally resonant for the audience.
The plot itself is well crafted, offering a balance of action. The story unfolds in a way that keeps the audience invested. The pacing is effective, allowing for moments of tension to build naturally and providing ample time for character development.
Additionally, the cinematography deserves praise for capturing the essence of the story visually. The use of lighting, camera angles, and visual composition enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the film. These elements contribute to the creation of a cinematic atmosphere that complements the narrative, immersing the audience in the world of the movie.
In conclusion, this film manages to stand out in the realm of action movies due to its commendable performances, realistic fight scenes, and a well crafted plot. Park So Dam's standout acting, coupled with the authentic portrayal of the protagonist, adds a layer of depth that elevates the overall viewing experience. As the story unfolds, the audience is taken on a journey filled with suspense, emotion, and genuine moments, making it a memorable cinematic endeavor. With a refreshing take on action cinema, this movie succeeds in delivering entertainment that goes beyond the typical genre conventions.

Nothing you haven't seen before, done sooo much better
Sigh, where to start with this hot mess? Some edgy chick is a wheelman - or, well, wheelwoman - who gets her package, whether person, animal or item, from A to B, guaranteed. She drinks beer, has an Indian or black side-kick (because Korea's going woke Hollywood, failing to realise that people stopped watching Hollywood because they hate the woke bollocks), and is naturally way smarter than her male boss, because that's GIRL POWER. RAW!
Filled with the kind of clichés we hate, along with the staple clichés of the genre, this film offers absolutely nothing new and failed to entertain me in any capacity - I mean: the female lead's more annoying than hot!
Tob e honest, I turned this off around the half way mark because there are just so many better things to do with my time, such as: watch better films, cook dinner, sit on the toilet with a magazine or watch the grass grow... and we were in the middle of winter when I was watching this, so the grass was under a foot of snow!
If you didn't get my point already, this is bad. Avoid.
