Ok. So the non-con aspect of this show really squicked me. Where Tharn comes onto Type when he knows Type hates gay people, and he keeps pushing that line. Type crossing the line with Tharn's personal stuff also was problematic for me, but I know stuff like that really does happen when it comes to roommate conflicts, even when they aren't about such personal issues. But Tharn giving drunk Type hickeys and then forcing a BJ on Type in the bathroom was bad. Especially after he's witnessed Type's Trauma and Nightmares. Some of Gulf's expressions are weird. Like when he's at the bar (especially in the 2nd special) listening to the band play. But I actually love what Gulf brings to Type, that he gives Type a harsh accent and abrasiveness.
I like that Type doesn't take shit from anyone. I like that he's a bossy bottom. I hate possessiveness but somehow I like it on Type. But I don't like that he hits Tharn. That really annoyed me. I mean I get that it was alluded to they were a little into pain play, but I'm pretty sure Tharn did consent to being kicked in the nuts of punched or slapped just because Type was jealous. If that happened to a female, it would be partnership violence, so that same goes for a male partner. There are ways he could have expressed it without being abusive towards Tharn, I feel. IDK. Maybe I'm being too pedantic. IDK.
I like Tharn, for the most part. Apart from the non-con in the beginning. I love that he's a monogamist - that he puts all his eggs in that one basket. I love that about him. Also, he cries so pretty (that scene from the intro when he's all red eyed and nosed and hugging type from the back because of reason that are spoilery). I don't know why they put so much make up on Mew though. I get that they were trying to make him look younger, but they just made him look so cakey because of it. They should have just let him be. He's gorgeous as it is and some guys look older. It's a thing.
Techno. I LOVE THIS TECHNO. He is ADORABLE! I Also love this Champ.
Tum - This Tum was HOT like BURNING! That smoldering glare he gave Tharn in Episode 1. *shivers down my spine*. I didn't know their history. I totally thought they were gonna have a go at each other in the bathroom at school. hahaha.
Overall, I really enjoyed this series. The chemistry between Mew and Gulf is amazing. And they are really beautiful together. The story was interesting. I enjoyed the time skip as well - and finding Type more comfortable in his own skin. I look forward to the second series.
I really liked the title track. It is so catchy (even if the lyrics are a little sketchy). I also like the song Tharn sings to Type in the final episode. <3

Actors vs. Content
Im going to start wif the end, why? The plot took a drastic turn and made an (almost-perfect) love story into a mystry-blackmail-horror.If u like both lead actors, you will love this series. But if u also want good script and content, then u may be quite disappointed.
Both Mew and Gulf acted well. Gulf was superb, very likeable. Mew's character was intrusive and creepy, given the script that Gulf was sexually abused by another man before. His fear is real for a lot of people. To fall for someone who gives you hickies while you are asleep? Very creepy.
Just when u thought ok, the story is getting alright, the plot suddenly changes direction and goes into LA Law/Nancy Drew mystery. Incomprehensible.
Mew took much effort to get into character for the last few episodes and not his fault that the script ended in that direction. I had more questions than empathy for him at that point.

If you under 15 i think you should wait
this series is story between type who hatr gay and tharn who are gay. the reason why type hate gay becouse he was raped by a person who work for his family, but after tharn know's it type change day by day. the most suprising thing is when type ask tharn to have sex with him. so im not recomended this bl series if you not enough age to watch it. if you already you can watch it. i was pity with tar couse he was still in high school and get drug and raped. the reason type not do anything and can get closer to tar is they had same trauma. and can't wait for the season 2. i hope they're love is keep same for 7 years later.Considerați utilă această recenzie?
At first, i was hesitant to watch this cause the poster is not that eye catching, but when I watch until the episode 2, the story get more exciting. On how the story progress, from hate to love, enemies to lovers. Oh my God, I envied them even though its just a drama. Hoping to watch the 2nd season...
KUDOS... LOVE ... LOVE... LOVE...

The actors are on sync and the story telling was done right!
There's no unnecessary plots and the scenes are captivating and believable at the same time.
Even the OST is amazing Kaownah's "be mine" amazingly matched the story.
I've seen a lot of BL with kissing/love scene but TharnType sets it self apart by making their scenes so HOT without looking cheap!
I would highly recommend this one to everyone out there!
But I'm warning you this will get you hooked and probably live you daydreaming about it for quite a while.

I don't think I've loved a BL drama this much since Together With Me. I couldn't stop watching and stayed up until 3am two nights in a row because I couldn't stop. I've completely fallen in love with TharnType (and MewGulf too ugh help). I know a lot of people don't like Type because he's hot-headed, aggressive, and overly jealous, but I think all of those things make his character more human. Gulf's acting skills are really incredible. Gulf isn't anything like Type in real life, yet he was able to bring to life this character that is easily unlikeable because he's so human. That being said - Type's growth is incredible. From the first episode to the drama special, you can really see just how much he's grown (and how much Tharn has helped him achieve this growth). While I'm still not sure he's accepted his sexuality, I find it incredible that he's able to love not just Tharn, but himself. When the last episode jumps forward to three years later...*chef's kiss*. That's just what I needed -- TharnType openly in love, holding hands, acknowledging their boyfriend-ness. It just made me realize how much Type has grown. Again -- human!!!!
Of course I love Tharn, too. Soooooo much. Mostly because Mew is basically a god but. I mean. Look at him. That smile is enough. I felt like Tharn's character experiences less growth than Type, but Tharn still grew with him. I think dating someone that's so hot-headed, easily jealous, and struggling with his own sexuality was a new experience for Tharn, and that really forced him to think differently. Plus, the final episodes of the series worked to show Tharn that he's not "cursed" -- he just had a really toxic person in his life treating him like a puppet. That realization definitely takes weight of your shoulders.
As for the other characters -- of course I loved them. Their friends were so funny, and I loved the support they received no matter what. It was really heartwarming. Everyone just wanted them to be together and happy. I really felt this in the drama special too; the way Tharn & Type's relationship is just immediately accepted (also as if everyone shipped them all along lol).
The music was great too. I'm still listening to the OST because I just can't move on sobbb.
I'm definitely going to rewatch this. Probably multiple times, ha. I'm also looking forward to TharnType 2. I hope tons of people watch this drama and appreciate it for what it is. I didn't want to comment too much on some of the heavier subjects introduced because I think those are touchy for a lot of people (they seem to make or break the drama for them), but for me, I just spent the entire time in love with Tharn and Type and I was really happy with TharnType The Series.

Review:
This series really is a work of art it touches on mental health, sexual assault, pain, abuse, toxic relationships, and more. People may hate type and Tharn but not all couples are lovey dovey like love at first sight.
Type suffers from alot issues with his sexual assault and Tharn is just as messed up as type who was also taken advantage of as a kid and constantly hurt by those he loved.
However as the story goes on y'all can tell that by these two meeting they're changing into better people. Type is getting better at expressing his emotions without acting violent and Tharn is learning how to genuinely love and trust someone without force. What a lot of people don't understand is that this may be reality for a lot of people. Life isn't perfect but when you find that someone who's worth it then your willing to work things out through all the hardships until you reach that perfect place.
(Ctto, Saw this on youtube) and yes i agree, and i will add more, their chemistry, their acting skills, the potrayal of their characters is just superb?? hands down, gulf is not the typical bottom you would see in a bl series he is an aggressive wifey and has that aura he can only make same as mew. So THARNTYPE is definitely ONE OF THE BEST. because they deserve it and did i mention the show was only funded by their director (P'Mame) and has no sponsor but it was successful..?

Other than a touching story, excellent direction and acting make this a series BL fans would not want to miss. The director has handled elements light-hearted comic moments and serious drama well. When the homophobic Type realizes that his roommate, Tharn, is gay, he embarks on a rather hilarious attempt to either change rooms or make Tharn move out. But the serious parts about the clashes and misunderstandings between Tharn and Type are truly riveting, partly because they have been developed as characters we care about.
Despite having to compress a rather long story into 12 episodes or so, the story does not appear rushed. Both the main characters are developed in well-paced episodes. Tharn's vulnerability beneath his confident behavior is portrayed very well. While he may seem flippant at times, it soon becomes clear that he is very serious about his relationships. Type's homophobia is traced back to the experience of being raped by a man when he was young, and it is sensitively depicted--the series does not make it seem acceptable or excusable to be homophobic just because he has been raped by a man. This is subtly but strongly pointed out by how Type's best friend, who turns out to be gay, is hurt for Type's homophobia.
Credit must go to the actors playing Tharn and Type. They have really good chemistry, and we can really feel that the characters love each other deeply whether it is in the sweet moments or when Type stages a break-up with an unaware Tharn so as to expose how Tharn's best friend has been ruining his (Tharn's) relationships. I can practically feel Type's desire to just hug and console Tharn even as he pushes Tharn away. It may sound strange, but there are moments when I feel as though they are kissing each other tenderly even when they are not actually doing so. This is one of those BL couples (like Krist and Singto) that are going to be hard to unpair.
Despite all the strong points, there are some things that may make one uncomfortable in the story universe of TharnType (which takes place in the same story world as Love by Chance). These stories have serious references to rape (which is not a problem). Type and Tum in this story have been traumatized by rape, and we see just how hard it is for victims to get over the experience. Yet, in the same story world, rape can be trivialized (which is the problem), as we see a hint of in Love by Chance in the Techno/Kengkla couple) as Kengkla basically rapes a drunk Techno and even fools Techno into thinking that Techno is the perpetrator of the crime). Even in the case of TharnType, there are moments before Type actually enjoys sexually intimate moments with Tharn where Tharn's behavior is practically sexual harassment. One example is when Tharn undresses a drunk Type and sleeps beside Type to give the homophobic Type a shock the following morning. If there weren't such moments, the series would be even better.

OVERRATED, DISTURBING & A BIG WASTE OF TIME
IDK what people actually like so much in this show but it definitely doesnt deserve more than 5. The entire show just normalises r@pe and toxic behaviour. They used someones trauma to excuse a lot of stuff which would never be justified if even hes had bad experiences before. Their entire relationship is pure toxic and it doesnt really get better. Some decisions that they take are taken so hastily and never really explained later. Idek why i finished this show (maybe cuz i thought it'll get better later which never really happened) but do know that i was annoyed throught watching this show.I recommend u to not waste your time on this. There are wayyy better BLs out there. This had no story, hardly justified chemistry and at the end leaves u feeling and asking why did u even watch this.

BEST BL DRAMA I'VE EVER SEEN
I wasn't expecting a lot of this drama, but it turned out to beat "Together With me" and is now my favorite BL drama and I will say why:- The Characters all have and amazing construction: Even the secondary characters ended up having an good background, and the background of Tharn and Type just fitted perfectly both personalities of the characters. Some people will say things about Type, and I myself thought he was a total jerk several times, but if you look to his background you will see he is totally traumatized, and I think they made a very complex character but it turn out amazing, in his place I think I would be scared of a relationship and having feelings for a man (If you have never watched the series you will understand what I'm talking about in the second episode I guess).
-The characters grow a lot together, especially Type, You can see how he is insecure in the very beginning and he ends up being a boyfriend a bit toxic for some times, but when the drama goes he begins to trust more in himself and in the special episode they made you can see a very mature Type as sweet as Tharn and that has no shame of their relationship. You can see how much Long gets better too, he's other character that has an amazing history and you can see how much he grew through the suffering he went in in the end of the series. It's visible how the relationship between Tum and Tar gets better and better too, almost all the characters turned out much more mature in the end, you can see how they turned in better people, and this is just amazing.
-The musics are amazing, I cry until today while listening the music theme of the couple Tharn Type because of some scenes of Episode 11, who already watched it can understand me I guess, Everyone was crying while the song was playing, the timing was just perfect, I love this song so much.
- The acting were just perfect, I'm crying right now while writing this when I remember the scenes of the characters crying, all they made such an amazing job, the best ones to me were Gulf as Type who made perfectly the role, Kaownah as Long, I feel chills just of remenbering the acting of Kaownah, he was more than amazing and Kokliang as Tar although Tar doesn't has a lot os scenes the ones he had were perfectly well done. Mew were an amazing Tharn too, but I don't think his character was as complicate as the ones I said before so he kinds of fades when compared to these other characters because Tharn turns out too be too kind and this made him less complex I guess, but some scenes he made were amazing, the crying ones especially, the one in the bed and the one in episode 11 made me cry with him, I love him so much.
-If you like host scenes, this drama has a lot of them since the very beginning (Ep. 4), and they have their cute scenes too, just in the perfect dose
Now just some final considerations, if you don't like the drama because of Type's behavior, please watch it again and pay more attention in his backstory, because this drama for me is almost perfect, the only think I thought was a bit weak was the last scenes, I was expecting a lot more, but when they made the special episode, it just disappeared because this special episode is the definition of perfection.
