Friend Zone (2019)

You got all the elements of a romcom, good-looking main leads, the ever-endearing chase, not too heavy conflicts and a good ending to appease the public.

Quite frankly the aesthetics of the setting were top notch but the writing of the characters was a bit shallow for me. And they didn't take advantage of how good the cast (not saying didn't have chemistry, coz they sure did!). I just wished they could've polished the storyline where you could really root for a specific character.

The time-skips were a little confusing at first but given the ending, the nonlinear narrative seems logical.
I love the comedic parts of this film that actually makes the waiting for the climax a bit bearable.

If you want hard-hitting actions, tear-jerky romances this isn't a movie for you. But I will definitely put this high on my go-to list of movies when I just want a feel-good movie on a lonely Friday night in bed.

I personally feel like this movie has a good main concept and take home value - which is believing that your effort will not go to waste and that no matter how bad your experience is with love, there is surely someone out there for you. However, it is not well executed. The movie itself is too long; it could actually be done within 1 hour at max. After watching it for 1 hour, I was left wondering "Okay.. so when will the story progress?" and "When will this end?" The movie spent more than 1 hour circling around the plot "I will always be there for you as friend, but I actually love you." I would prefer it better if this plot is accompanied by the slow progress on how Gink realizes her feeling for Palm after each caring act Palm did for her.

Nevertheless, I love the acting from both main casts. They showed a really good chemistry, I could feel their happiness and sadness really clearly. They also have a consistent character, Palm being the caring and always-there kind of friend and Gink being the sensitive and act-first-think-later kind of girl. I also would like to give a big applause for the ending, it is good to know that Palm is not chosen because Ted betrayed Gink, but because Gink realized that she is happy with Palm.

Drôle et frais, une petite parenthèse plus que bienvenue!

Il y a du bon parfois de scroller, souvent par ennui, les shorts sur FB. Vous savez ces petites vidéos qui sont majoritairement inutiles. Parfois. Ici, ce fut le cas. L'extrait de la chanson du film, interprétée par plusieurs chanteuses dans leur langue, a su me faire sourire et me donner envie de jeter un coup d'oeil au film.
On ne niera pas que le thème est du déjà vu et la fin fortement prévisible.
Pourtant, j'ai adoré.
- Le format d'un film a l'avantage de ne pas s'étaler sur plusieurs épisodes et donc nous épargner certains défauts récurrents aux dramas (les romances secondaires inutiles, les personnages secondaires inutiles, les incohérences de scénario etc...), ici l'histoire se focalise essentiellement sur nos deux tourtereaux et leur états-d'âmes (disons plutôt les états d'âmes du protagoniste).
- Un duo efficace et dont l'alchimie pétille à l'écran comme des bulles de champagnes. Les dialogues fusent sans pratiquement de pause et dont les répliques ont le bonheur de nous faire sourire si ce n'est nous faire éclater de rire.
- Une protagoniste adorable, jolie comme un coeur et dont l'impertinence m'aura plus d'une fois arraché un rire sain.
- Une chute certes classique et prévisible mais qui a eu le mérite de faire sourire.

Il n'en reste pas moins quelques faiblesses :
- Le format du film a des inconvénients comme le développement de la romance et des protagonistes.
- La romance est sympa mais n'aura jamais réussi à faire battre mon coeur ( je viens de finir pour la seconde fois "shining for one thing" et j'en suis encore, pour la deuxième fois toute émue).
- Le point de vue nous est donné par la narration de Palm. Le résultat est un peu mitigé. Le spectateur ne voit que les actions de Palm, son amour et ses pensées. Quelques indices sont certes données pour Gink et son ressenti, mais pas assez pour nous émouvoir, ses sentiments semblent sincères pour Ted et j'ai eu du mal à comprendre son changement d'opinion....

Malgré ces défauts, le film se laisse regarder avec un plaisir évident, et je l'avoue, rien que pour Gink, cela en vaut largement la peine (j'ai eu gros coups de coeur pour le jeu de l'actrice et son personnage exubérant).

This is the type of movie that makes you feel the butterflies!!!

OMG I just finished this movie a while ago and it makes me question my life and all the choices I have made lol

Firstly, I love love love their friendship. Don't get me wrong I love my friends but where the heck can I get a friend that is willing to travel with me in whim. I am the type of girl that really wants to travel a lot and am quite impulsive but (I'm not sure if this is a pro or not) my friends are more on the calculative side hahaha. It has always been my dream to suddenly go somewhere without any plans.

Secondly, if that friend was a HOT YOUNG SINGLE guy omg yes to the 10000%.

I love how they've seen the worst of each other but still remained good friends. I'm actually quite surprised that their bf/gfs along the way didn't find their friendship as a threat to their current relationships. Personally, I'm not sure if I'm okay with my significant other being that super duper close to a girl.

I know this movie is supposed to be a feel good one but wth it made me look back to what have I been doing with my life. This is what I've been imagining my youth will be like (minus the cheating part of course). Travelling with friends, being with my significant other, having the time of my life. hayyyyy

Definitely a great watch!!!

Story of best-friends travelling around Asia due to some conflict. Palm, as a best friend, is always there to help. In short, he's only one call away.

Story revolves on both leads as Palm narrates the highlights of the movie. I admit there were some funny scenes and the chemistry was on point. Yet, I needed more. Some dialogues were lacking power.

The characters executed their roles. Yet I was regretful with some of the character's part, they deserve to be written well. One of them was the second lead. Palm's character was amazing. I liked it. Gink was oh-well... okay.

Music was oh-so okay and I really liked when Palm made a new lyrics when Gink was feeling bad.

Is the movie worth the time? I think. But please don't expect much.

MUST WATCH!

This movie is a MUST WATCH! The comedy aspect of the film was perfectly done. I found myself laughing non-stop at all the funny scenes while watching. Also, the chemistry of the main leads were legendary despite their rushed bonding before the movie was shot. I could honestly rewatch this Thai movie once a week and still enjoy it due to how funny the scenes are. Funny movie with the addition of romance.. just perfectly executed by Nine and Baifern! I'm not really a big Thai Drama/Movie watcher but I can honestly say that this movie, is probably on my list of top movies to recommend. I've watched many movies such as American Movies, Chinese Movies, Korean Movies, and more but this movie just makes me feel relaxed while watching. All the dramatic facial experessions and joking around from the main leads really enhance the movie to being even better than I anticipated. If you are wondering if this movie is worth your time.. I would say 100% give it a try. Give it a try if you are looking for a good laugh. Thank you.

SÓ ASSISTA SE NÃO TIVER MAIS NADA PARA FAZER

Achei muito triste ver o Palm sempre ajudando a Gink e ela nunca fez nada por ele. Os dois sempre tiveram relacionamentos com outras pessoas, mas era sempre o Palm que ia socorrer a Gink nos momentos difíceis. Eu gostei do Palm não ter corrido atrás da Gink já no final do filme, pois mostrou que ele tinha um pouco de orgulho próprio, mas achei que ele deveria se dar mais valor não aceitando o pedido dela em casamento de imediato (acho que o escritor deveria ter trabalhado mais um período onde a Gink ficasse buscando o perdão do Palm ). Contudo, gostei da Gink ter corrido atrás do Palm e pedido ele em casamento, demonstrando que ela, no fundo do coração, sempre o amou.
